  • Export JSP to Excel : Weird problem  (Urgent)

    Hi,
    Sorry for the length of question.
    I am facing a bit weired problem while exporting my JSP report to Excel.
    I have multiple tables in my JSP page .( Use of Multiple tables is a requirement .).
    I am using Struts and Oracle 9i JDeveloper for developement.
    I have a button called "Excel" and on its click , I am opening the same JSP page in a pop up and passing reqd. parameters to it using querystring
    ( sometimes I am keeping the parameters into session as the length is loo large to fit into queryString. )
    I am using
    response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
    to transform my JSP page to Excel.
    Sometimes, this works fine.
    But, mant times this gives error such ( in Windows2000 Adv. Server ) as
    "Memory could not be "read"."..with the tile of error-popup as "Excel.exe".
    (In Windows NT , it never exports to Excel. Every time it gives "Dr. Watson Debugger" message box.)
    In Windows2000 Adv. Server ,
    While debugging, I observed that when I click on Excel button, the pop up opens and executes the page and again goes to the start of the page and executes again and thus tries to open the same Excel document.
    As we know, we cannot open same Excel document twice. Hence it gives a popup alert that
    " The file <filename with its entire path> could not be opened.
    There may be several reasons :
    You might be trying to open a file which does not exist.
    You might be trying to open the file which is already open. ..."
    etc.etc. and something like this.
    Now, this is totally unpredictable. If I click Excel button, It may open the file in excel and on next try it would give error.
    This is quite annoying. I searched on this forum, Google but could not find the solution yet.
    I cannot use POI - HSSF . I cannot use userdefined Excel tags as well. as it will require a lot of reqork and unfortunately I don't have that much time now.
    Please help me and let me know how would I be able to successfully and predictably export my JSP pages to Excel.
    Thanks,
    Swipsy.

    Hi,
    Why dont you save as attachment? (use -> <% response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"name.xls\""); %> scriplet )...
    Im doing the same work, but I have problems to export images to Excel by this method...
    Someone could help me??
    thanks a lot

  • Exporting report to excel encoding problem..

    Hi All!
    A have a problem about encoding. I have a report and I export it into excel file. Everything is in a way. But unicode characters is not written in correct encoding. And I use encoding type everywhere "UTF-8"
    I use contentType as
    <%page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel;charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    and print out as
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
    JspWriter writer = pageContext.getOut();
    writer.print(sb);
    ...Please help me. I couldn't solve this problem.

    Hi
    Actually i have been doing a lot of experimentation in this for past some days.
    The various alternatives are as follows:
    a> DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET attribute in case of Oracle 10g Release 2, in this case the formatting will be maintained but the report will consist of empty cells and merged cells which is not required.
    b> in case of Oracle 9i, the following link may be helpful to you http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/bi.1012/b13895/orbr_paptoexcel.htm#CIHFDJAJ . But in this case ,also the problem of empty cellas and merged cells cannot be removed.
    c> the option which i have preferred is to use the tool rep2excel which is easily downloadable from http://www.lv2000.com/. With some minor changes in the report formatting u will get the desired output. You may inclde the scripts given in the manual to include the software in your normal execution. The problem of empty cells and merged cells can also be removed.
    For any further queries of how to use the tool do feel free to ask

    i think excel will not be able to handle all that records , you can devide your report into some tabs based on a specific condition for every tab, so when you export it to excel you will get many tabs as was exist in the the Business Objects report

  • Excel export (webui crm -- excel) wrong format of house number

    Hi,
    in an excel export  (webui crm ---> Excel)  is displaying the wrong format.
    If the house number contains a special character such as "/" then the house number displayed in the date format in Excel.
    And if in the field house number is a number and a letter such as "9 a", then the house number is displayed in time format (9:00 am) instead the house number.
    Does anybody know, how can I solve this problem?
    Thank you in adance.
    Best regards, Jasmin

    Hi,
    There is no error from the CRM functionality. If you SAVE the excel,instead of opening it directly and then " open with "
    word pad or notepad, you can see the phone no.s and fax no.s are properly transported to excel.There is a default format setting of
    excel from the Microsoft, so you are getting the default format after opening the excel.
    Steps:
    1.Export to excel.
    2.Choose the BP,PHONE and FAX columns holding the 'CTRL'key.
    3.Right click on the chosen columns and choose "format cells".
    4.Under the tab "number" choose 'number' and and reduce the decimal
    place to '0' and click "OK".
    5.Now you will be able to see the expected format.
    If you are using IE then the excel file that is being generated should be an XML file which would help with the formating issue. But when there is a problem in the generation of the XML file a CSV file is created instead.
    The kind of problems that can cause this could be :
    - Wrong version of Excel (professional needed)
    - Error in encoding (note 1560243 corrects this)
    - Active X Settings on browser are not properly setup or disabled
    - Other problems (some fixed in note 1457261)
    I hope this helps.

  • Crystal reports show rows of a field in detail section in number of columns while exporting in ms excel

    Hi,
    I have a crystal report and a field called source.
    The source field can contain more than one records.
    When I export it to ms excel then source field is shown in three rows in excel.
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    But now I want to export to excel in the following format
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    The Name and Batch No field are in Group Header and Source in detail section.
    Also the Source field can vary in number i.e. there can be any number of Source.
    And I only want this type of output when exporting to MS Excel.
    Is there any way to do this?
    Please reply.
    Thanks.

    Try this:
    1) Create a formula with this code and place it on the Details Section:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := x + 1;
    stringvar col1;
    stringvar col2;
    stringvar col3;
    if x = 1 then col1 = {Source}
    else if x = 2 then col2 = {Source}
    else if x = 3 then col3 = {Source};
    2) Create another formula and place this on the Group Header:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := 0;
    stringvar col1 := "";
    stringvar col2 := "";
    stringvar col3 := "";
    3) Create three separate formulae - one each for the three Source columns and place these on the Group Footer:
    E.g. for first Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col1;
    E.g. for second Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col2;
    Drag and drop these formulae beside each other on the GF.
    4) Move the 'Name' and 'Batch No.' fields from the Group Header to the Group Footer
    5) Suppress Group Header and the Details Section.

  • Export to Excel formating problem

    I am having a problem with the formatting of a an export file
    to Excel, which is created by a Coldfusion page. My export file
    contains numbers that need to be formatted as text. I found the
    style code below on this forum, but I am not having any luck with
    it. I tried adding it to my style file or directly as style
    formatting on the export page, but neither one of the two are
    getting recognized.
    Is there anything else I need to code before this works? Your
    help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Rose
    <html>
    <STYLE TYPE="text/css">
    TD {
    mso-number-format:\@;
    </style><body>
    <!---<cfheader name="Content-Disposition"
    value="inline; filename=Exportdata1.xls">--->
    <cfcontent type="application/vnd.msexcel">
    <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="inline;
    filename=export.xls">
    <cfquery name = "getclub" datasource="#DSN#">
    Select mail_name name,…
    </cfquery>
    <table width="200" border="2">
    <cfoutput query='getclub'> <tr>
    <td>#customer#</td>
    <td>#dateformat(begin_date,'mm/dd/yyyy')# -
    #dateformat(end_date,'mm/dd/yyyy')#</td>
    </tr></cfoutput>
    </table>

    Could it be a case sensitivity issue? I also noticed that you
    are missing a <head> tag pair, and that your date range field
    is not actually numeric. I doubt that excel is that delicate when
    it comes to those issues, but you might try:
    <html><head>
    <STYLE TYPE="text/css">
    TD.number {
    mso-number-format:\@;
    </style></head><body>
    <cfcontent type="application/vnd.msexcel">
    <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="inline;
    filename=export.xls">
    <cfquery name = "getclub" datasource="#DSN#">
    Select mail_name name,…
    </cfquery>
    <table width="200" border="2">
    <cfoutput query='getclub'> <tr>
    <td class="number">#customer#</td>
    <td>#dateformat(begin_date,'mm/dd/yyyy')# -
    #dateformat(end_date,'mm/dd/yyyy')#</td>
    </tr></cfoutput>
    </table>

  • Data Manager : Export records to excel

    Hi MDM pals,
    Data manager offers an user to select records in a repository and export them to an excel file.Options exist to choose fields and Qualifiers to be exported.Output file will be a single excel file with all records in distinct columns.
                               Having said that, I am in need of exporting records in main table and qualified lookup tables with respective qualifiers into different excel files. Please advise how to split the same.
    Need stated as below :
    1) Excel file 1 : Main table (Customer)
    2) Excel file 2 : Qualified Table 1 (Sales Data) - Should contain Sales records(non qualifiers and qualifiers)  for each customer.
    3) Excel file 3 : Qualified Table 1 (Pricing Data) - Should contain Price records(non qualifiers and Qualifiers) for each customer.
    Regards,
    Vinay M.S

    Hi Vinay,
    Yes this can be achieved but you need to perform the export three times.
    1) Main table (Customer)
    Go to File -> Export To -> Excel, select all the fields, this will simply export all the main table records. If you want to export selected records then either select them manually or perform the search and then go for export.
    2) Excel file 2 : Qualified Table 1 (Sales Data) - Should contain Sales records(non qualifiers and qualifiers) for each customer.
    Go to File -> Export To -> Excel, remove all the main table fields, select Customer Number field and the Lookup Qualified field Sales Data from the list of available fields and move them to Fields to Export, once you move Sales Data field, Qualifiers Check box will get enabled, Check that and you will get the list of Qualifiers in the available fields, either you can select all the qualifiers or the selected ones depending upon what you want in the excel file. Just click on OK and check the output file.
    3) Excel file 3 : Qualified Table 1 (Pricing Data) - Should contain Price records(non qualifiers and Qualifiers) for each customer.

  • FR Studio: HTML export to Excel formatting problem

    Hey,
    I am having trouble with the formatting when exporting from FR Studio to Excel.
    I have a report with 2 seperate grids. In HTML and PDF format it looks very neat. But when I export it to Excel, the bottom grid changes its format and some cells have weird colours and borders appear out of nowhere and make it look very ugly. Is there a way to solve this? I have tried many different things including changing cell borders and deleting entire grid and putting in a new one.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!
    Samantha

    one can never have control on formatting of exported excel.
    At max what can you do is- try different different colors, which look nice in html, pdf as well as excel.
    Thanks,

  • Exporting to Excel - Macro Problems

    For reasons unknown to us, when we export our crosstab reports from Discoverer 4i to Excel(2000 or 2003), we are getting a dialog message box warning us of the following, "The document you are opening contains macros. Some macros may contain harmful viruses. If you are sure this document is from a trusted source, Click Yes. If you are not sure and want to prevent any macros from running, click No." If we click Yes, then it will download two sheets, the first complete with drop down boxes etc and the second sheet just contains the regular crosstab report that we used to get but with formatting included, aka grey shaded columns etc. We checked the ExcelExportWithMacros pref and it is set to 0, the macro security on Excel is set to medium.
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    Thank you

    The macro warning is something that's well known when exporting to Excel. Just for grins, try putting your security at low to see if it still warns. There may be some kind of macro that gets sent with the export (this has been discussed before), but not really sure. However, many clients I've been at just accept it and click Yes. I believe it's a 4.x thing (ie: I hope it's been corrected in 10g), but haven't tried that yet to be sure.
    As for the export having more than one worksheet, I believe I remember that this is also a known 'challenge' (ie: it doesn't just come out like a pivot table in 1 worksheet) and again, I'm pretty sure it's only a 4.x thing.
    Also, are there 2 options for exporting to Excel for a xtab (ie: export to Microsoft Excel Workbook (.xls), Microsoft Excel Pivot Table (.xls)? If so, try each as the first is for static sheet only info and the latter exports a 'static sheet', a 'pivot table' and 'warning sheet'.
    Also see metalink doc: 214075.1 for one possibility.
    Also see metalink doc: 157162.1 for another idea.

  • Export to Microsoft Excel opens empty - IE11, Office 2010, Win 7

    Hi,
    I am using IE11, Office 2010 and Win7 64bit. When I open IE, navigate to a webpage and click "Export to Microsoft Excel" from the context menu of IE, Excel opens and the "New Web Query" dialog has an empty address (http:///). The content

    "This page can`t be displayed"
    Does anyone know what might be the cause of this problem and how can I fix it?

    Hi,
    Please include a link to any webpage you are having issues with your questions so we can test the page....:
    Any webpage ... it is not webpage specific rather an environmental problem.

    Open Excel, switch to DATA, choose From Web , then try to import the website for test if it had same problem.:
    It works unsurprisingly ...

    My Office 2010 is a 32bit.
    If I open it directly a 32bit excel process is stared.
    If I open it via the "Export to Microsoft Excel" menu two 32bit excel processes are started. I believe one is for the New Web Query and another one for the Excel itself ..
    Best Regards,
    Jordan
