ADF JSF fragment refresh issue

I have a .jspx page consisting of two .jsff fragments. Each .jsff fragment contains a table. When I modify a row in table1 some changes also need
to be reflected in table2 in the other .jsff fragment. Using partialTrigger won't work here since it seems that I cannot include a reference to a .jsff fragment
from another .jsff fragment, so I tried to solve this via ADF calls in the backing bean of one of the .jsff fragments. I have traversed the ADF tree and identified the
component in the other .jsff fragment that I want to refresh but a call to AdfUtil.addPartialTarget(...) or to AdfFacesContext.getCurrentContext().addPartialTarget(...)
does not trigger a refresh. I am wondering what I am missing? I would appreciate any help with this.
Thank you,
Bogdan

Inter-region communication is normally done with Contextual Events. A quick google search gave me this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-may/o31adf-352561.html
It's been a few years since I did it, but I have had success using contextual events with regions. I think that you might have to have the container that contains the two regions act as a proxy for the event, but it's kinda foggy.

  • ADF-JSF: Application Performance Issue

    Hello!
    My question or set of questions will be a bit vague...I am simply not sure where to look for problem(s). So here is what I have. Application implemented with ADF-JSF (JDEV ver:10.1.3.2.0). It basically has 5 pages. Each page containes user input form, commandButton and result table. Functionally, each page is a 'search page' that returns results based on what user specified in the form. Components on each page are bound to VO that is based on EO (DB table). Tables have at least 2.5M records up to 16M. Certain indexes exist (for most common searches) to improve the performance. However, there have been performance issues found and largely they would be grouped into the following:
    1. User is on page A, performs the search, goes to page B (via link) and performs other search, then goes back to A and similar search takes much longer to return results. Seems to me that this moght be related to memory. Maybe results of the previous search are cashed and it takes new search to retreive results longer as the VO cashe needs to be cleared first. Does that make sense?
    2. User is on page A and then goes to B. Leaves browser for 10-20 minutes and tries to go back to A. It takes up to a minute before page reloads with the previously displayed results. I am thinking this has to be related to page lifecycle where AM tries to re-execute bindings ( I do not think it is passivation issue though). What is the best practice to control the lifecycle?
    Any pointer on where to look for the solution is very welcome.
    Rade

    Carl,
    To use Tom Kyte's analogy, you are firing a gun into a room full of people hoping to hit the bad guy. You haven't seemed to have gotten any information about where the performance issues lie. It could be in the DB, network, ADF Business Components, JSF layer, other stuff monopolizing resources, etc, etc. I have ADF BC apps developed in 10.1.3.3 that run quite well.
    So, I would recommend you spend some time investigating where the performance problems lie. Try turning on logging output, check machine utilization - use your investigative techniques to find the bad guy so you can then work on fixing him.

  • Refresh Issue in Oracle ADF In JDeveloper

    Hi all,
    My ADF Application is having around 350 Forms. Application size is 700MB. I am facing a refresh issue in this application. whenever i am modifying any queries in view objects or lookups it is not reflecting immediately. Say : i modified one query. Then i deployed the application means the query is taking the old query. to take the modified query i have to rebuilt the view object. Every time i am facing this same problem. Some times within 2-3 deployments the query is modified by itself(without rebuild) and working fine. Sometime after 10 times also it is taking the old query only. Every time i have to rebuilt to fix this issue. Please help me to fix this issue. I am using oralce 11g.

    Try to invoke  Clean All Operation before you deploy the application.
    From Main Menu -- >Build -->  Clean All

  • Scrollbar refresh issue in ADF Table

    Hello, All
    We have an issue regarding the ADF Tables. Please let me know if it is a Oracle bug. All of us know that 'ExecuteQuery' operation refreshes the cache in View Objects.
    But, based on our testing results, there might be a table refresh issue on vertical scrollbars after this opertion is executed.
    Settings:
    In the attached example project, we have a ADF RichTable included in a PanelCollection.
    In addition, We set 'AutoHeightRows' property on this ADF RichTable in order to show scrollbars on the PanelCollection.
    Furthremore, a standard CommandButton is created on the toolbar to execute queries.
    Experimental Steps:
    1. Use your mouse to move the vertical scrollbar to around the center of its range. This behavior causes the scrollbar scrolling vertically.
    2. Click on any row showing in the table right now, make it to be the active row.
    3. Press the 'ExecuteQuery' button, waiting for the table refresh.
    Results:
    1. Active row moves to the first row in the rowset.
    2. Vertical scrollbar stay in the center of its range without moving to the first row.
    3. The first row is hidden from end users. The user can not see the active row in this case.
    FYI:
    The attached project can be accessed from the following link:
    http://www.4shared.com/zip/Xn4Ki0DP/Application3.html
    In this project, we tried to set 'partialTriggers' on RichTable and its surrounding PanelCollection separately. But, the refreshing issue still exists.

    David He

    Welcome David to forums.
    Always mention your exact Jdev version. For more information read this: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=56
    I too faced the similar kind of issue in one of my application.
    As you have not mentioned the exact jdev version, I will tell you what I did in my application which was developed using Jdev 11.1.2.0
    After the VO is executed, you can write the below line of code to show the first rows in the table.
    applicationsRichTable.setDisplayRow(applicationsRichTable.DISPLAY_ROW_FIRST);
    //applicationRichTable is the binding for the RichTable in managed beanHope it helps.

  • Do some processing before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow

    Hi,
    I am working on JDev11g.
    I want to create SelectItems of SelectOneChoice dynamically before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow
    I tried by implementing RegionController class's method RefreshRegion in my backing bean of jsf page fragement to do some processing before loading region
    But it seems to be not feasible approach because it is getting called every time any component on fragement gets partially submitted.
    Is there any method which is called only first time when region is loaded ?
    Or any other solution to achieve this.
    Regards,
    Devang

    Hi,
    don't think so. You would need a phase listener, but I don't see how you get it in. Wha about using a dynamic region and then use the method that is called from the dynamic region first time it is rendered?

    I'm not sure on the error, but you may be able to pass the "selectMethod" and "cursor" as a JDBC property in your connection pool. Since this is a DataSource / JTA issue you may want to post it to the general OC4J forum.
    Otherwise as a workaround you could instead use a non-JTA DataSouce, or use TopLink internal connection pooling, or try another JDBC driver.

  • PartialTrigger point to Component within JSF Fragment

    i like know if it is possible to have component within mainPage.jspx with partialTrigger pointing to component within a JSF Fragment which is included in mainPage.jspx.
    A use case for it could be, for example, i have a tabbed panel with 2 tabs, each tab contains a JSF Fargment per jsp:include, in the first tab there is a table with search result and the second tab should show the detaisl of the selected table item by double-click or context menu of the item.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
    since you don't mention af:region, I assume you don't use it. In this case, have a look here: http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-how-to-issue-a-ppr-event-from-a-fsubview-and-how-to-ppr-of-subviews/

  • Call PeopleSoft via ADF/JSF

    I am trying to call a PeopleSoft page directly such as "Create Requisition" directly from a link on an ADF/JSF page. I understand the issue about authentication, but would it be possible to just call the direct page itself aside from the the left hand toolbar or top toolbar with the "PeopleSoft" logo?

    Thanks for this Shay, it was very useful.
    I've managed to get the page to automatically refresh the collection when it is displayed.
    My next step is to use an inputstream to populate the collection and then pass parameters between both pages and methods in the same way as I have done using dataPages and dataActions in 10.12.
    Thanks once again
    David

    ---- END OF LOG ----
    Has anyone been able to deploy ADF JSF project with JHeadstart using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle 10G AS 10.1.2.0.2? I'm using window environment. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for your assistance and have a nice day.
    Kind Regards,
    John

    Hi all,
    I had also tried out something else...
    I am now portalizing the ADF application using PortalFacesBridge and portlet.xml. Then I deploy it on the Local OC4J of my system and expose it as a WSRP Portlet using the url: 'http://hostname:portname/warFileName/info and generating a WSDL URL...
    I am then using this WSDL URL to regester this portalized application on the Oracle Portal10.1.4 which i am able to accomplish successfully...
    However after regestration, when I try to view this on the portal page, It is throwing the following error:-
    Error: Could not get markup. The cookie or session is invalid or there is a runtime exception.
    Also I would like to add that this method was working perfectly fine previously...
    What might be the clue for this sudden error...
    Any kind of help is greatly appriciated... Thanks...

  • CommandButton doesn't work in JSF fragment?

    Hi all,
    Why commandButton doesn't work in JSF fragment? while I set partialSubmit as true!
    As following:

  • Partial submit in a jsf fragment is not working

    Hi,
    i have a jsf page that is hosting a jsf fragment (using workflow), inside the jsf fragment i have a button that has partial submit = true, and an output text that has partial triggers pointing to the button.
    the button on the fragment page has a "set action listener" that update a variable in a managed bean.
    the output text on the fragment page is displaying the content of that variable (which the button is updating).
    the problem is that partial submit is not working and whenever the button is clicked and the value of the variable inside the managed bean is changed , it is not reflected in the output text.
    note that if you try to use this example in a normal JSF page it will work, so does anybody knows what is wrong.
    i'm using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2
    ************************** source code of the jsf fragment page *********************************
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core">
    <af:commandButton text="commandButton 1" id="cb1" partialSubmit="true">
    <af:setActionListener from="#{not DepartmentInquiryBean.getterCriteriaPanelDisplayInd}"
    to="#{DepartmentInquiryBean.setterCriteriaPanelDisplayInd}"/>
    </af:commandButton>
    <af:outputText value="#{DepartmentInquiryBean.getterCriteriaPanelDisplayInd}" id="ot1"
    partialTriggers="cb1"/>
    </jsp:root>
    ************************** source code of the managed bean ************************************

    CriteriaPanelDisplayInd = p_CriteriaPanelDisplayInd;
    public boolean getGetterCriteriaPanelDisplayInd() {
    return CriteriaPanelDisplayInd;
    ********************************************************************************************

    Yes, try appending the region's id to the component inside that region.
    i.e.
    <af:outputText value="#{DepartmentInquiryBean.getterCriteriaPanelDisplayInd}" id="ot1"
    partialTriggers="r1:cb1"/>^ assuming 'r1' is your region's id.
    If your fragment is not inside a region...maybe try doing so.
    Also, see here:
    Referencing a component on a page fragment inside an <af:region>.
    Best of luck.

  • ADF, JSF in Weblogic Portal 10.3.2

    Hi,
    We are designing new portal application on weblogic portal.
    Per Oracle recommendations, use ADF, JSF instead of using legacy JPF, NetUI (BEA technologies).
    If we use ADF, JSF; My questions are
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    or (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Thanks,
    Murthy

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.

  • Refresh issues

    I wish to know if there are any refresh issues in the following scenario.
    Consider the same application running in 2 distinct VM, jvm1 and jvm2 in a
    simple
    configuration without L2 cache.
    In jvm1 I have:
    PersistenceManager pm = pmf.getPersistenceManager();
    pm.currentTransaction().begin();
    Object oid = xxx;
    Object o = pm.getObjectById(oid)
    System.err.println(o.xxxx);
    pm.currentTransaction().commit();
    pm.close():
    Then in jvm2:
    PersistenceManager pm = pmf.getPersistenceManager();
    pm.currentTransaction().begin();
    Object oid = xxx;
    Object o = pm.getObjectById(oid)
    o.setSomeAttribute(xxxx);
    pm.currentTransaction().commit();
    pm.close():
    Now if I execute in jvm1 the first code fragment, do I see the modification
    applied in
    jvm2 ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Guido Anzuoni.
    BTW, are you going to include oid (and hopefully, class) keyword in
    projection in kodo3 ?

    Guido,
    Yes, you will see the modification in the next PM. The only "stale data"
    issues you might see are when you get object ID X in JVM1, modify and
    commit object ID X in JVM2, and then continue to reference it in JVM1
    (without any closing or refreshing): you will continue to see the cached
    version of object ID X.
    When this situation is intolerable, you can use pessimistic
    transactions: that will guarantee up-to-date views of the object, at the
    cost of keeping database locks on the rows open.
    In article <[email protected]>, Guido Anzuoni wrote:
    No, no, just for confirmation. I have read some posts on this topic and I
    have only shown my tipical usage.
    Is this behaviour somehow dependent on optimistic settings ?
    What if the DB schema is a preexisting one and there is no column for
    optimistic locking check ?
    Thanks again,
    Guido.

    Yes. Are you not seeing this behavior?
    As for oid and class keywords, I'm not sure if the feature has been
    resolved one way or another yet.
