Adf leaning path ?

hi all,
here's my situation:
we had a BI application which is deployed under traditional cs mode,
now we are trying to move it on to the web.
we used to use some third party tools to implements the need for BI data visualization components.
after a short period of research, we came to adf, which supplies pivot table and various kinds of charts (which seems only available in JDev11TP?)
unfortunately, none of our developers is familiar with this adf stuff.
any one can give a hint on the learning path?
thanks

You can start by following the tutorials on the ADF Faces page - this will give you a basic intro.
I have a more detailed answer here:

  • ADF Menu Path

    Hi All,
    I am hoping to implement a bread crumb trail using ADF menu path. This trail would be dynamic in implementation with the link items determined by a MenuModel obtained from a NavigationBean as navBean.getMenuModel().
    Any help on how a MenuModel can be implemented would be greately appreciated. Something like ,
    MyModel extends MenuModel {
    public List getItems() {
    .. A list of items.
    Thansk in advance....

    Have a look at the SRDemo sample application - there is a (short!) breadcrumb trail in there on the SRCreate pages.
    The model for the train is defined in the faces-config.xml file See the managed beans: createTrain_Step1, createTrain_Step2, createTrainNodes and createTrainMenuModel. Plus SRCreate.jspx
    This should help a little

  • What you suggest as a good summary of ADF Java classes? What about a detailed reference?

    Hi everyone,
    When I was a forms developer, I was quite familiar with the built-ins. Now that I am learning JDeveloper, I am trying to get acquainted with the various Java classes that support ADF development. A summary of classes for the model, controller, and view layers would be very helpful. One document that is good (which is included in the documentation below) can be found here: ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers.
    As far as reference materials, these two seem to be good:
    Oracle Fusion Middleware User’s Guide for Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.2.0)
    Oracle Fusion Middleware Fusion Developer’s Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1.0).
    Any suggestions that might help me make the best use of my ADF study time would be appreciated!
    Thanks.
    James

    Shay ha blogged about adf learning path here https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/how_do_i_start_learning_oracle_adf_and_jdeveloper he mentioned some good commercial books.
    Beside of these commercial books you only can read the various thread here in the forum or blogs about themes you find interesting and want to explore in more depth.

  • Openscript - adf table test

    Hi,
    I use to get the value from adftable by using the following command
    String value = adf.table("path").getcell(1,2);
    info(value);
    it is not getting the cell value into the string.
    Kindly suggest better approach on this
    Regards,
    Mohan.

    Make sure that when you are using .getcell(1,2) that you are passing correct indexes since the row indexes starts with 1 and column with 0..
    If the above method does not work, you can also try the below
    getCellValueByAbsoluteRowIndex(row, col)); - here both row and column indexes start with 0
    HAPPY TESTING!!!!

  • How to get the file path in adf application

    hii all,
    i have a txt file that i am using in my adf application,
    i am passing this txt file through a File Reader, for which i have to mention the file path.
    The file is in web-content and when i am hard coding the complete file path i.e C:/JDeveloper/myApp/ViewController/public_html/log.txt
    the application is working fine when run on integrated weblogic server.
    My requirement is to access this file without giving the static file path, as in case i have to use this application on any other machine..
    for that how to mention the file path-
    i tried using FacesContext to get the context path :-
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath();
    which gives me
    \myApp-ViewController-context-root
    after appending public_html\log.txt
    I am using the following path to access the file :-
    \myApp-ViewController-context-root\public_html\log.txt
    again i am getting the java.io.FileNotFoundException
    Does anyone know how to use file from inside the web-content without giving the complete path..???
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If you put your file under public_html folder, you can use this code to access the file:
    For example file is : log.txt
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRealPath('/log.txt').toString().trim();
    Thanks.

  • How to give the file path in adf application

    Hii all,
    I want to use castor xml framework in adf application..
    for which i have to un- marshaller the xml file..
    by using following method-
    Person person = (Person)
    Unmarshaller.unmarshal(Person.class,
    new FileReader("src/com/person.xml"));
    if i use this method in a java class inside a main method directly it works fine,
    but when i try to initiate the java class through a jspx page deployed on integrated server..
    it gives the file not found exception..
    how to define the file path so it can be properly used even when application is deployed on server.
    Thanks

    duplicate {thread:id=2418158} ?
    I guess the path you are using is wrong. It works on your mashiene as the src path is available. When you run the app on a server (jspx file) there is no src path as long as you don't include it in your WAR wich you should not do anyway.
    If you need to access such data you can create a folder in your webroot folder and the the resources from there as /xml_folder_name or if the xml files shouldn't be visible from the outside put the folder under hte web-inf folder.

  • File reading (with configurable path) in ADF?

    Hi,
    I am developing an ADF application in Jdeveloper in which a drop-down list is populated by reading from a txt file.
    Currently I am using a static path inside the code (in java bean) to read the contents. However i want to make this path configurable.
    How can i make this file path configurable in deployment plan?
    Regards,
    Komal Babar

    Dear Frank,
    if you can give more detailed explanation, that will be nice, because i got more or less same requirement.
    if we create "Resource" Directory in web content or some where, how can we access through
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath();

  • Microsoft ADFS / IIS : How to change the path of MSISAuth/MSISAuth1/MSISAuthentcation Cookies?

    Hi,
    I need to have the MSISAuth/MSISAuth1/MSISAuthentcation Cookies sent from a Browser to a Proxy upfront.
    But there are two issues:
    1) Cookies are set from MS ADFS to the host - not domain
    I solved that issue by editing the C:\inetpub\adfs\ls\web.CONFIG by including this setting:
        <httpCookies domain="mydomain.com" httpOnlyCookies="false" requireSSL="false"/>
    So the cookies got sent by the browser to all servers included in this domain - solved.
    2) Cookies are set to path /adfs/ls
    To have the browser sent the cookies the pattern https://<host>/adfs/ls
    need to be fullfilled - but now I need to change this path to "/" so that those cookies are also sent to other context roots.
    I have not found any documentation or property file to change this
    Anyone able to help me here by pointing me to the correct place to edit this setting?
    Thanks,

  • [ADF UIX] LOVs, what does the "dot" path expression do?

    Hi
    In developing an ADF UIX web page, I've let JDeveloper create a messageLovInput on the "ExternalSource" field for me as follows:
    <messageLovInput
    model="${bindings.ExternalSource}"
    id="${bindings.ExternalSource.path}"
    destination="refCodesExternalSourceLevelOneLov.uix"
    partialRenderMode="multiple"
    partialTargets="_uixState"/>
    You'll notice that the id is set to blah-de-blah ".path". I can't find mention in the documentation of what the .path does. I think it should be documented in the section "About the Properties of the ADF Bindings" but has been excluded.
    Does anybody have any idea what this binding value provides? And specifically what functionality it provides in the id as a apart of a messageLovInput?
    Thanks!
    CM.

    Or to be more specific, the messageLovInput supplying the following ID with ".path":
    <messageLovInput
    model="${bindings.DepartmentId}"
    id="${bindings.DepartmentId.path}"
    destination="lovWindow0.uix"/>
    ...is used by the LOV lovSelect event "SET" call target property below in returning a value to the calling page?
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.departmentsUIModel.DepartmentId}"/>
    </event>
    .....and trying something like the following to return more than one field to the calling page would be pointless:
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <compound>
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.departmentsUIModel.DepartmentId}"/>
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentName.inputValue}"
    target="${data.departmentsUIModel.DepartmentName}"/>
    </compound>
    </event>
    ..... as the calling messageLovInput can only supply one ID .path?
    Oops, sorry, I hope that isn't too long winded. It's at the end of a very long day for me.....
    Thanks for your help!

  • Adfs/ls does not work while adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon works | There are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/ls/ to process the incoming request

    Hello Experts
    I am trying to configure ADFS 3.0 with Sharepoint 2013 and facing an issue with ADFS 3.0 url
    When I try to access url https://<ADFS.domain.com>/adfs/ls - I face following error
    Encountered error during federation passive request.
    Additional Data
    Protocol Name:
    Relying Party:
    Exception details:
    Microsoft.IdentityServer.RequestFailedException: MSIS7065: There are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/ls/ to process the incoming request.
       at Microsoft.IdentityServer.Web.PassiveProtocolListener.OnGetContext(WrappedHttpListenerContext context)
    But When I try to access ADFS url - https://<ADFS.domain.com>/adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon
    It works..
    Is it normal behavior or something wrong here.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

    /adfs/ls/ is the endpoint for all "passive" protocols. a Plain GET to /adfs/ls wil complain (correctly) that the plain GET is not a correct SAML or WS-Fed message. You should only send correct messages to that EndPoint........

  • How to display HTML file  (on server path) to ADF jspx page ?

    Hi Team,
    We have a requirement to display HTML content which is in tabular format on a page. This page is jspx page based on page template and this html has to be shown on a radio button select. I am trying to do this with Jquery but since the id of all components in jspx comes as pt1:id (pt1 being the id of page template) and : being a special character in Jquery, I am not able to proceed further.
    the syntax of Jquery to load html file a POC has been done outside Jdeveloper is working fine with a general syntax of
    $("#selector".load("html path"));
    Please let me know is they any other solution to load the file?
    Thanks
    Pavan

    For example
    - (void)viewDidLoad {
        [super viewDidLoad];
        NSURL *fileURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"readMe" ofType:@"html"]];
        [infoWebView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:fileURL]];
    and from the .h
    @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *infoWebView;

  • Get file name and path from  adf inputFile

    Hi,
    I use adf's inputFile component. I need to get the file name and filePath. Does anyone knows how to do that?
    Thanks in advance

    You may bind the value to an UploadedFile object and get the name from this object.
    You may use a valueChangeListener backin bean method or a managed bean.
    Here the code i just write for something similar. Note that i'm not able to test it because of a bug in 10.1.3.1 with inputFile and web.xml parameters. I still waiting for the patch.
    public void uploadedFile(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) throws IOException,
    Exception {
    final int BUFFER = 2048;

  • ADF: Component for selection of a folder/file path serverside

    Hello,
    i'm searching for a standard component within ADF to choose a folder/file on the the server or still better a folder/file an a windows net share drive.
    The concrete environment is an Oracle OC4J on a unix server and a windows fileserver with a net share drive.
    My ADF Application within the OC4J instance should show a file dialog to choose a folder an the windows share.
    I think components like inputFile are only to choose a file on the client machine. Is there any component similar to choose a serverside folder/file?
    Thanks for any comment
    regards
    Markus

    Hi,
    there is no component that does this for you. All you could do is to write a tree model that shows the hierarchical structure you query from the server. Then using links on the tree nodes you may allow users to download or open files
