Adf Readonly table to Editable

Hi All
I am using JDev 9.0.5.2. I need an editable table from an adf viewobject. Here is what I do:
1. I create a view.
2. On my jsp page I drag a readonly table from my data controls onto the page. There is no editable table option in this version of Jdev.
3.I drag a create button onto the jsp page.
Problem
When I hit create, nothing happens.
I go to the Ui Model to have a look at the action for the create button and its action is set to create. There are a list of other actions that can be assigned to this button but there is no insert or new action.
Can anyone help with this
Thanks

Hi,
open the Create action and set it to CreateInsert to create a new record. Note that you have to navigate to a page that has an editable form based on the VO

  • URGENT: ADF Faces table updating issue.

    I have a project that uses JSF, ADF Faces, EJB 3.0, and the ADF binding framework.
    In this project, I have a page with a databound ADF Faces Table. The table has a number of read-only columns and two read-write columns. I also have an Edit button that allows the user to pop up a dialog box to edit the selected row of the table. When the user clicks OK in the dialog box, the data is passed back to the main page and the table is updated.
    Everything works correctly for the read-only columns. For the read-write columns, however, the table data does not get updated following an edit. This is what I have found:
    1. The table row data gets passed in to the Edit dialog correctly.
    2. The data gets passed back correctly.
    3. The model gets updated correctly (up to and including the database).
    4. Looking at the iterator in the debugger shows the correct, updated data.
    5. When the table row is getting redrawn, the getter calls for the read-write columns return the updated data.
    6. As mentioned above, the read-only columns get updated correctly.
    7. Updating the read-write columns directly from the table works correctly.
    So, the problem appears to be in the GUI layer. I suspect that, somehow, the submitted values of the read-write columns are not getting set properly, but I cannot figure out how to do this.
    Note that clicking on the Edit button results in a partial submit. In the return listener, I add a call to AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getRecipientTable()) in order to redraw the table (getRecipientTable() is the bound value of the ADF table).
    Please help! We are so close to production and we need to fix this.
    Thanks,
    Ara

    Hi,
    I don't have a testcase for this, so I just come up with ideas to try
    1. refresh the parent container of the table. It seems that the input text components are not triggered to refresh if the refresh is on the table.
    2. If using ADF, make sure the update is performed directly on theiterator (which automatically is the case if you use a ADF bound form for this)
    3. Check if executing the table iterator and then setting back the current row makes a difference

  • ADF Faces table with checkboxes

    Hi,

    I like to implement something like yahoo mail, with a checkbox at the column header. If selected,

  • ADF Tree table is not exapanding

    Hi all,
    I have to implement an ADF tree table along with a form. I have three Views,
    two of the views are used to populate the Tree table, And one of the view used in the Tree population is used to manipualte the form,
    And the third one is to populate a table. And I have a Popup call button in the same panelCollection where the tree table is placed
    I am facing two issues with the the tree table.
    1. The tree table is not expanding, if I click on the '+' on the node it won't expand and it will show me small circle which is trying to open the node.
    But if I click on the Popup button and cancel(RollBack) the popup and come to the node, it will exapand. I don't kow why it is....
    2. As I said I have a Form and I have to populate the form based on the selection in the tree table nodes, the form filed is same as that of the view used to populate the Tree table view.
    But when i click on the tree table nodes it is not chaning the record according to the selection in the tree nodes. But in a master Detail form it is working fine. It is always pointing to the first record.
    Please help.....

    No vinod, I am not getting any kind of exceptions..
    And mY tree table is
    <af:treeTable value="#{bindings.TestVO.treeModel}"

  • How to make a layer from the ADF pivot table invisible?

    Hi all,
    ADF pivot table is a useful component which can be used to provide table data rendering. However, I have not found any method to hide one layer from the row edge (or column edge) of the pivot table.
    For example, please have a look on this demo: [http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/pivotTable.jspx]
    There are two layers in the row edge of this pivot table, one is Time, one is Product. For product, there are two categories, one is Tents, one is Canoes.
    Is that possible to make the Product layer invisible from user, while still keeping the two rows of product data for that year showing up? how to do it?
    The problem is that pivot table relies on the product layer to separate the two rows of product data, and if I remove the product layer, only the second row of product data for each year can be shown up.
    Please advise how I can make the Product layer invisible.
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi, Yiannis,
    Thanks for the clarification.
    First, for clarity, I'd like to point out that you and Richard are inquiring about different functionality. Richard wanted to hide a layer that is logically present on the edge, so that there are still separate rows for Tents and Canoes, but without row headers indicating which row is which. As I noted previously, this is currently unsupported.
    By contrast, you're asking about truly removing a layer from the edge. For rowset DataControls, this can be done using the CubicEditor interface. Given the following PivotTable:
    <dvt:pivotTable id="pivotTable1" value="#{bindings.Record.pivotTableModel}"/>the CubicEditor can be retrieved by calling:
    DCBindingContainer bindingContainer = (DCBindingContainer)ADFContext.getCurrent().getRequestScope().get("bindings");
    CubicBinding cubicBinding = (CubicBinding)bindingContainer.findCtrlBinding("Record");
    CubicEditor cubicEditor = cubicBinding.getCubicEditor();You can then add a layer:
    LayerDefinition layerDefinition = new LayerDefinition("Product");
    cubicEditor.addLayer(DataDirector.ROW_EDGE, 1, layerDefinition);and remove a layer:
    cubicEditor.removeLayer(DataDirector.COLUMN_EDGE, 0);At the end, you'll need to PPR the Pivot Table.
    Hope that helps.

  • ADF-Faces table and mass data

    Hello Oracle,
    we consider to use ADF-Faces with Spring and TopLink or Hibernate that supports all important commercial databases.
    We need a solution for selecting mass data and show them using a ADF-Faces component.
    ADF-Faces table looks great and is fine for for some hundred datasets. But we have customers who could do a select over 80.000 or more datasets and it cannot be the solution to load them completly in collection-model in memory.
    Do you have a solution or do you plan somthing? A JSF data table component for mass data (e.g. load from database on every "next or "previous" click)?
    Regards
    Florian

    I'm pretty new to ADF Faces etc. but I know the ADF Table component supports paging. If you're using ADF Business Components as the persistence framework it supports paging out of the box giving you exactly what you're looking for.
    If you're using EJBs or Toplink I think you have to write your own paging interface but I don't know this for sure.

    Hi,
    What is your JDev version? Did you try setting the rowSelection property of the table?

  • How to update ADF VO object to refresh the data in ADF Pivot table

    I need to know how to update the View object so that the date in pivot table is refreshed/updated/filtered.
    here are the steps I performed to create ADF pivot table application using VO at design time.
    1) created a collection in a Data Control (ViewObject in an ApplicationModule) that provides the values I wanted to use for row and column labels as well the cell values (Used the SQL query)
    2) Dragged this collection to the page in which wanted to create the pivot table
    3) In the pivot table data binding editor specified the characteristics of the rows (which attribute(s) should be displayed in header), the columns (likewise) and the cells.
    Now, I have a requirement to update/filter the data in pivot table on click of check box and my question is how to I update the View object so that the date in pivot table is refreshed/updated/filtered.
    I have got this solution from one of the contact in which a WHERE clause on an underlying VO is updated based upon input from a Slider control. In essence, the value of the control is sent to a backing bean, and then the backing bean uses this input to call the "filterVO" method on the corresponding AppModule:
    but, I'm getting "operationBinding" object as NULL in following code. Please let me know what's wrong.
    here is the code
    Our slider component will look like
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox label="Unit" value="#{PivotTableBean.dataValue}"
    autoSubmit="true" />
    The setDataValue() method in the backing bean will get a handle to AM and will execute the "filterVO" method in that, which takes the NumberRange as the input parameter.
    public void setDataValue(boolean value) {
    DataValue = value;
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = (OperationBinding)bindings.getOperationBinding("filterVO");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    The filterVO method in the AMImpl.java will get the true or false and set the where Clause for the VO query to show values.
    public void filterVO(boolean value) {
    if (value != null) {
    ViewObjectImpl ibVO = getVO1();
    ibVO.setWhereClause("PRODUCT_TOTAL_REVENUE(+) where rownum < 10");
    ibVO.executeQuery();
    }

    Did you define a filterVO action in your pagedef.xml file?
    You might want to read on how to access service method from a JSF Web Application in the ADF Developer Guide for 10.1.3 chapter 8.5

  • Can you make table width editable in a template

    I am new to html and am trying to use a template to create a
    site that will eventually have 10-12 pages. All of the pages will
    have the same basic design, but some need 1 main body section and
    some need 2 (1 main and 1 smaller off to the side). After doing 4
    pages, I realized I could use a template so I wouldn't have to

    The template will not allow me to adjust the table. Is there a way

    Well, it's OK, but I'm not sure where you want to go with
    this. I'm not
    crazy about how you have used the CSS - there are things
    there that I think

    If the ADF datatable is technically comparable with the RI datatable, check http://balusc.xs4all.nl/srv/dev-jep-dat.html to get some insights how to retrieve the selected row object.

  • An extra column of a query in an ADF Faces Table?

    Hi to all OTN Community...
    I use ADF Faces, Toplink and EJB 3.0 in JDevelooper 10.1.3.1.0, and i have a question...
    I need to show in an adf faces table, the result of a query like this
    SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2, COUNT(*)
    FROM TABLEX
    GROUP BY COLUMN1, COLUMN2
    I do this query in the TableX named queryes...and then i have acces to this named query in the dataControl, but, when i drag and drop the dataControl to a jsf page, this only shows the columns of the tableX. Then, i want to know, ¿How can i show the count(*) column in the page in a dataControl?
    PD: i want to show in the adf faces table the same result if i execute that query in an sql client.
    Thanx in advance...

    Darklorddany,
    The solution to this is to add an additional method on your EJB 3.0 session-bean that exposes an dynamic TopLink report (projection) query.
    The TopLink code within the method would leverage your existing TopLink mappings to do the query like:
            ReportQuery rq = new ReportQuery(Employee.class, new ExpressionBuilder());
            rq.addAttribute("firstName");
            rq.addAttribute("lastName");
            rq.addCount();
            rq.addGrouping("firstName");
            rq.addGrouping("lastName");
            List<ReportQueryResult> results = (List<ReportQueryResult>)session.executeQuery(rq);The ReportQueryResult objects are very generic map/row type containers that will not work well in your ADF binding layer. With JPA you can specify and ad-hoc Java class to contain such projection results that make them a little easier to use in clients. This functionality will be available in the next release of TopLink. Until then you will need to write some code to convert to your own result class for this query.
    In my case I'll create a simple POJO like:
        public class EmployeeNameCount {
            private String firstName;
            private String lastName;
            private int count;
            public EmployeeNameCount(String firstName, String lastName, int count) {
                this.firstName = firstName;
                this.lastName = lastName;
                this.count = count;
            public String getFirstName() {
                return this.firstName;
            public String getLastName() {
                return this.lastName;
            public int getCount() {
                return this.count;
        }Now I combine the previous report query code into an EJB 3.0 session bean method:
        @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTS)
        public List<EmployeeNameCount> findEmployeeNamesWithCount() {
            Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
            ReportQuery rq = new ReportQuery(Employee.class, new ExpressionBuilder());
            rq.addAttribute("firstName");
            rq.addAttribute("lastName");
            rq.addCount();
            rq.addGrouping("firstName");
            rq.addGrouping("lastName");
            List<ReportQueryResult> results = (List<ReportQueryResult>)session.executeQuery(rq);
            session.release();
            List<EmployeeNameCount> empNameCounts = new ArrayList<EmployeeNameCount>(results.size());
            for (ReportQueryResult rqr: results) {
                String fname = (String)rqr.getByIndex(0);
                String lname = (String)rqr.getByIndex(1);
                int count = ((Number) rqr.getByIndex(2)).intValue();
                empNameCounts.add(new EmployeeNameCount(fname, lname, count));
            return empNameCounts;
        }You will also need to make sure the method exists on your EJB 3.0 session bean's interface as well. Then regenerate the data control for your session bean and you should have access to drag and drop this query with its results into your JSF pages.
    As mentioned this use case will be much simpler and declarative in the next release.
