  • Permission Denied on Syslogins.password when SQL2K to Oracle

I am getting the following error when running the OMWB. Any help is appreciated.
Failed to load Source Mode.[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Driver][SQL Server] SELECT permission denied on column 'password' of object 'syslogins', database 'master', owner 'dbo'

  • SQL Express 2008 R2 - CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'

I have created a setup application with SQLEXpress 2008 as a prerequisite. On test SQLExpress installs OK
after the application is installed it must create and install a database using a mixture of SMO and Scripting. I used SMO to add the current user (who is a Windows Administrator) as a Login to the SQL Express server.
    Dim l As Login = New Login(srv, My.User.Name)
                    l.LoginType = LoginType.WindowsUser
                    l.AddToRole("sysadmin")
                    l.DefaultDatabase = "MASTER"
                    l.Create()
It fails on srv.CreateDatabase with error message "permission denied in database MASTER"
this thread talks about converting the server to single user mode before adding a login
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlexpress/thread/86daf5f5-d333-40b1-ae6f-0da052a96600
how is it possible to scrip this? there is no documentation i can find.
the database must be installed in the ProgramData folder. Is there a permissions issue with this. Do I need to assign permissions to this folder somehow?
bear in mind this will be a remote install and the user expects it work flawlessly.  No manual interventions

if i connect to the sqlexpress instance  (local)\SQLEXPRESSS  using SQL Management Studio and try to modify the Windows User Login I get the error message:
"User does not have permission to perform this action. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15247)"
how is this possible. it seems to be at an impasse. can't go forward or backward
Now try launching Managenment Studio by right clicking on shortcut and choosing "Run As Adminitstartor".
If above works then you are running on Windows 2008 family OS (Vista, 2k8 or Win7) which has
    UAC feature.
If above does not work then you really don't have permission then follow below.
Troubleshooting: Connecting to SQL Server When System Administrators Are Locked Out
Start the instance of SQL Server in single-user mode by using either the
    -m or
-f options. Any member of the computer's local Administrators group can then connect to the instance of SQL Server as a member of the
    sysadmin fixed server role.

  • XML File in External Table - OS error permission denied.

    Hi.
    10g R2, Red Hat Linux
I'm using the article (see below, taken from http://www.dbazine.com/olc/olc-articles/scardina1 by Mark Scardina) to create an external table where I'd store my XML file.
    So, I
    1. Created a directory xmlfile_dir
    2. Granted access to needed db user
    3. Created the table
    CREATE TABLE relayxml_xt (doc CLOB)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY xmlfile_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
FIELDS (lobfn CHAR TERMINATED BY ',')
COLUMN TRANSFORMS (doc FROM lobfile (lobfn))
    LOCATION ('xml.dat')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    4. mv relay.xml /xmlfile_dir/xml.dat
When I run SELECT * FROM relayxml_xt I get this:
Error starting at line 1 in command:
    select * from relayxml_xt
    Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
    ORA-29400: data cartridge error
KUP-04063: unable to open log file RELAYXML_XT_28773.log
    OS error Permission denied
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.ORACLE_LOADER", line 19
    29913. 00000 - "error in executing %s callout"
*Cause:    The execution of the specified callout caused an error.
*Action:   Examine the error messages take appropriate action.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Using External Tables
Introduced in Oracle9i, Oracle’s external table feature offers a solution to define a table in the database while leaving the data stored outside of the database. Prior to Oracle Database 10g, external tables can be used only as read-only tables. In other words, if you create an external table for XML files, these files can be queries and the table can be joined with other tables. However, no DML operations, such as INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE, are allowed on the external tables.
Note: In Oracle Database 10g , by using the ORACLE_DATAPUMP driver instead of the default ORACLE_DRIVER, you can write to external tables. In Oracle Database 10g, you can define VARCHAR2 and CLOB columns in external tables to store XML documents. The following example shows how you can create an external table with a CLOB column to store the XML documents. First, you need to create a DIRECTORY to read the data files:
    CREATE DIRECTORY data_file_dir AS 'D:\xmlbook\Examples\Chapter9\src\xml';
    GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY data_file_dir TO demo;
Then, you can use this DIRECTORY to define an external table:
    CREATE TABLE customer_xt (doc CLOB)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY data_file_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
FIELDS (lobfn CHAR TERMINATED BY ',')
COLUMN TRANSFORMS (doc FROM lobfile (lobfn))
    LOCATION ('xml.dat')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    The xml.dat file follows:
    customer1.xml
    customer2.xml
If you describe the table, you can see the following definition:
    SQL> DESC customer_xt;
    Name Null? Type
    DOC CLOB
Then, you can query the XML document as follows:
    SELECT XMLType(doc).extract('/Customer/EMAIL')
    FROM customer_xt;
Though the query requires run-time XMLType creation and XPath evaluation, this approach is useful when applications just need a few queries on the XML data and don’t want to upload the XML data into database. In Oracle Database 10g, you cannot create external tables that contain pre-defined XMLType column types.

Your don't have the proper operating system privileges. Be sure that you (=oracle OS user / the OS Linux user that is starting the database) are allowed have read privs on the path and/or file.
    for example...
    chown -Rf /xxxxxxx/xxxx/etc
    ls -l file.xml
    file.xml    oracle:oinstall    rw-rw-rw

There are a number of places I found with the information in the following
    link:
    http://phew-meme.blogspot.com/2007/10/reporting-service-on-report.html
    In
my specific case, the RsExecRole role in both the "master" and "msdb" databases
had had both the "NT Authority\Network Service" and "NTAuthority\System" logins
removed from its members (the RSExecRole had had all its members removed by
someone doing some maintenance). I compared another Reporting Services
installation on another server after reading information in the above
    link.
    Steps:
    1. In Mangement Studio connect to the SQL Server instance
    on which Reporting Services runs.
    2. Databases > system Databases
    3.
master > Security > Roles > RSExecRole (then add whatever logins are
required... check in the ReportServer or ReportServerTempDB databases if you're
    not sure)
    4. msdb > Security > Roles > RSExecRole (add the same
logins you did to the master DB)
In the end you need the same logins in
RSExecRole role for the master, msdb, ReportServer, and ReportServerTempDB
databases. ("ReportServer" is the default Reporting Services database name, in
    case that's not clear ;)

  • Select permission denied in RPD

I am mapping data in my rpd file and cannot view data or update row counts for almost all of my tables in the database.
I am running obiee 11g on my local machine connected to an sql server database.
The error I receive is "Select permission denied on object...". I have talked with the DBA and I should have sufficient privileges for my project.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

Yes Venkat is right,You don't have privileges for that table,You can always find out your own effective permission on any object by using  fn_my_permissions('table_name', 'OBJECT')

  • EXECUTE permission denied on object 'xp_sqlagent_enum_jobs'

Hello.  I am running SQL 2005 SP2 (9.0.3282) on a Windows 2003 SP2 Enterprise server.  I have three users that I have assigned the three SQL Server Agent roles within the msdb system database so that they may manage jobs that they own.  Recently they started seeing this error:
The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xp_sqlagent_enum_jobs', dartabase 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 229)
I have other servers that have SQL server configured the same where we are not seeing the errors.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Kris

After you move the msdb database, you may receive the following error message:
Error 229: EXECUTE permission denied on object 'ObjectName', database 'master', owner 'dbo'.
This problem occurs because the ownership chain has been broken. The database owners for the msdb database and for the master database are not the same. In this case, the ownership of the msdb database had been changed. To work around this problem, run the following Transact-SQL statements. You can do this by using the Osql.exe command-line utility (SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server 2000) or the Sqlcmd.exe command-line utility (SQL Server 2005):
USE MSDB Go EXEC sp_changedbowner 'sa' Go

  • MS SQL Server 2000 Permission

I'm running SQL Server 2000 v8 and I'm having trouble with MS SQL Server Driver for JDBC service pack 2. I can create and delete tables but I can't read/write to them. I get this error ->java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]SELECT permission denied on object 'Inventory', database 'IT_inventory', owner 'blambi'.
I've gone to the SQL Enterprise manager and double checked all the permissions are correct. I've tried "GRANT SELECT ON Inventory TO blambi, public" which executes without errors and even changes the public permissions in the server manager. I'm connecting as the owner (blambi) I can't find the problem anywhere. Please help.

No luck here. I gave up and decided to use MSDE (Microsoft Developers Edition). It's a free SQL server. It's just as bad as MS SQL Server 2000, it's unreliable and buggy. If you can, use MySQL. If I had a choice, I'd be using MySQL.

  • ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed Permission denied

I have installed Oracle XE (Universal) on Fedora Core 8
I am trying to update Apex to 3.1.1. I have downloaded and extracted the zip file using unizp apex_3.1.1.zip
    I ran @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/

    Both were successful
Now when I am executing this

    Kindly help.

I had the same problem on centos (RHEL 5.2). It think maybe it is something to do with permissions with the folder to which you extract the software. I unziped apex download in the home for the super user /root then changed directory to /root/apex to do the install. In sqlplus connected as sys as sysdba the command @apxldimg.sql /root failed with ora-22288. My workaround was to copy the images to a different directory and then it worked. rm -rf /tmp/apex/images/ then mkdir -p /tmp/apex/images/ then cp -r /root/apex/images/* /tmp/apex/images/ then back in sqlplus @apxldimg.sql /tmp. This time it worked!

  • Permission denied on object 'PSOPRDEFN' database 'FSCM' schema 'dbo'

    Hi,
I get the following error when i try to login in 2 tier thru App Designer.
SELECT permission denied on object 'PSOPRDEFN' database 'FSCM' schema 'dbo'...Just to give a little background...Since i was installing PS FSCM 9 on my new machiine, I did not create a new DB, as I had the mdf and ldf files from my earlier machine. All i did was to add the DB thru SQL Server management studio. I have executed the grant and connect.sql. Both have executed successfully. But I am still unable to login. I also tried altering the authorization on my DB, but that did not work either
    Thank You

    Hi Nicolas,
I was installing PS FSCM9 on my new personal machine. Since I had my "MDF" and "LDF" files for FSCM 9 DB (from my previous machine), I did not create a new DB for my new Install of PeopleTools. I simply copied the DB files to my new machine.
I can login into the DB using sa/sa1. But when I try logging in using App Designer in 2 Tier, it pops up the error mentioned. I ran the Grant/connect sql's again, but that did not help. i did run alter authorization script for the 3 tables PSACCESSPRFL, PSSTATUS and PSOPRDEFN, and granted them access to people, but that did not work out.
    Thank you

  • Permission Denied error generating XML file

We’re using ODI to write out files to a Windows CIFS file system through an agent installed on the ODI Unix server. In order to do this, we had to create the agent using a user ID that had permission to write to the Windows file system. For writing out flat files, this worked great; we have no problems at all.
However, for writing out XML files to the file system, we’re getting an error that says Permission Denied. We do NOT get the error if we write the XML to a Unix directory, only if we attempt to write it to the CIFS file system. I have two questions:
    1.     Is ODI able to execute against a Windows CIFS file system from UNIX to generate XML files?
    2.     If so, is there a list of permissions required on the fileshare that the ODI needs to generate the XML?
Below is the exact error we’re getting:
0 : null : java.sql.SQLException: Could not save the file /mdm_conversion/TST/2.lsm because a class java.io.IOException occurred and said: Permission denied
Has anyone ever performed something like this or encountered a similar problem?

    Hi,
I found the issue and corrected it. :)
This was happened only because of the Version problem of Report Builder with Oracle Applications.
Reports Builder 10g is not compatiblie with Oracle Applications 11.5.10.
Oracle 11.5+ will always expect the RDF from Reports 6i version. Because of this, the endocing was damaged.
You can observe in the earlier post as encoding="&Endoding". Here +&Encoding should be replaced by some encoding mechanism like "UTF-8".+
Finally corrected the version and got the Output as expected.
    Thanks !

any one got the solution.pl pass it.
    TIA,

    Hi,
If rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora exists (in 10.2.0.3 and up) then external jobs run as the user and group specified in this file which should be nobody by default.
If it does not exist (in releases prior to 10.2.0.3) then external jobs run as the owner of bin/extjob which should be nobody by default.
Because external jobs run as a lowly privileged user (nobody) by default, you need to make sure that this user can execute your script. Things to check for include
    1) Use full paths to all binaries or scripts in job_action or program_action as well as calls inside the script.
    2) Make sure all scripts start with #!/bin/sh or another command interpreter
    3) Make sure all scripts have the executable bit set and are executable by the user that external jobs run as
    4) Make sure that all required environment variables are set. External jobs by default do not have any environment variables set. For example, for an oracle import or export or sqlloader script you may need to set oracle_home, oracle_sid, ld_library_path and path environment variables in your script or source the required Oracle environment script.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.
