Adjust Adobe Bridge Content panel display

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/using/WS308E3BB0-4D80-4940-A772-F77DD21227EEa .html

Why can't I change the thumbnail in Bridge?
What do you mean with that, what do you like to change, names, ratings, size, quality??
And what version are you using

When you re-installed Photoshop, you also re-installed the version of Camera Raw which shipped with Photoshop - in other words you reverted to an older version of Camera Raw which does not support the D5100.

The D5100 was first supported in Camera Raw version 6.4.

  • Adobe-Edge content not displayed in iframes on Internet Explorer 9

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble to see my content, generated w/ Adobe Edge, on Internet Explorer 9, when I'm embedding via iframes.
    Here's an example: http://n-land.de/bilder/bilder.html
Did anybody experience the same problem, yet?
    Cheers,

Try this thread, it helped me:

I had same problem - on all browsers Adoeb Edge app was swhowing in iframe except IE (9).
So i locally made another index.html file, which loads as object main animate html file. And then in iFrame I laod that index.html

  • Cropping to an edge confuses Adobe Bridge?

I use Abobe Bridge as the host application for Camera Raw. For me, it makes much more sense than hunting for images from Photoshop.
I think it's been at least three years—probably longer—since I noticed that Bridge has a habit of extracting some previews when they should already be cached, every time I bring Bridge to the foreground. I tried to ignore it, but as the number of images in the Content panel increases, so it seems that the number of repeat extractions increased. If you are dealing with hundreds of images at once, this can place a heavy load on the computer. An older computer can really struggle. Even with my super duper new computer, the 8 virtual CPUs can shoot up to 50% usage for 10 seconds every time Bridge gets focus because of this issue. And, since Camera Raw 7.3, the situation has got worse.
Adobe Bridge uses Camera Raw to extract Raw previews. And today I made a major discovery (major for me anyway):
Removing cropped images from the Bridge Content panel stops repeat extractions.
One of my folders contained a lot of cropped images—some straightened, some transformed—and every time I brought Bridge to the foreground the computer fan would wind up as 40 or so repeat extractions would appear to occur. As an experiment, I opened all of the cropped images in Camera Raw 7.2 and adjusted them so that there was space around the crop, and they didn't rest against the edge of the original image anywhere. The repeat extractions stopped completely.
I don't know why Bridge is having a problem with cropped images, but it is on my computer. Maybe it is something to do with the XMP data of cropped images. Has something changed between 7.2 and 7.3 in this respect?

    Yammer,
Thanks for such a comprehensive reply.
Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been playing around with your settings and it has taken awhile to get to grips with the anomalous consequences I've noticed.
Preliminaries: My test folder comprises a copy of 13 .CR2 images from which all previous Develop Settings were removed followed by removal of the.XMP sidecars and finally a Purge Cache for the folder. In the Bridge Preferences\Cache - 'Keep 100% Previews In Cache' is Unselected and 'Automatically Export Cache To Folders When Possible' is Selected.
Step 1: duplicate your "altered defaults" (3rd last paragraph in your post #17) for all 13 images.
Caused no problems when switching focus away from Bridge entirely or between folders in Bridge. However, closing and reopening Bridge from the test folder initiated new thumbnail extractions (together with 1 cache export - expected). The weird thing is that, AFAICT, there were only 7 extractions. It happens pretty fast with only 13 images but I did it a number of times and am confident that the number did not exceed 8. And here's something quite unexpected: the same problem occurs, with the same number of extractions, when closing and reopening Photoshop (Ps) whilst Bridge has its focus on the test folder.
Step 2: remove automatic lens corrections (for the benefit of others, not you Yammer: Unselect Lens Corrections\Profile\Enable Lens Profile Corrections). I chose this as my initial variation of your defaults because it is not normally one of mine.
This stops the repeating extractions when switching focus away from or within Bridge (which was never there anyway) but also after closing and reopening Bridge and or Ps.
Step 3: add back automatic lens corrections.
Again, no problem when switching focus within or away from Bridge, but the repeated extractions, with the same number, return after closing and reopening Bridge and or Ps (whilst the focus in Bridge is on the test folder).
So, at least for me, contrary to what I believed in my post #10, the re-extractions problem is not resolved, and it seems likely to be related to, if not caused entirely by, whether or not you have selected lens corrections.
Don't know whether any of this helps you, Yammer, but maybe a starting point for further investigation?

  • Viewing XMP Metadata in Adobe Bridge via Adobe Drive Connector

    Hi there,
I've been trying to view remote file XMP metadata in Adobe bridge via our adobe drive connector. I've added the READ_XMP_METADATA capablitiy, and I've seen the DataType.XMP has been requested. but I'm not sure how to display the metadata on the Adobe bridge metadata panel. since the metadata is embeded in the file, when i browse the file in local drive, the metadata shows fine, but when it's on our remote server, some how bridge doesn't extract the info and display it. I can see the metadata when I browse the remote file in windows explorer adobe drive. and we do download the file to local to a temp copy, browse the temp copy in bridge also showing the metadata, The only thing not working is browsing the remote file in bridge via adobe drive connector.
Please advise what should be done, in the programmer's guide, it says for each item, request that the server return the XMP data for that asset. How should I do that? If the XMP is embeded in the file, why would I need to request for it, would it be automatically extracted from the file?
    Thanks,
    Katherine

  • Bridge CC - Content Panel looks different than Preview

Problem - Images in the Content panel look dull and desaturated. The view of the same image in the Preview Panel, as well as Photoshop CC, looks fine (ie, like I expect from working with these images in CS6). This applies to NEF, JPEG and PSD files. In the attached screenshot, note the distinct lack of red in the skin tones in the Content Panel compared to Preview. Blues look a little dull as well. This is a PSD file. This image is tagged sRGB, verified in the Metadata panel as well as in Photoshop CC.
I have read similar threads here (where all of Bridge was dull and desaturated), but I don't see anything that mentions the two panels in Bridge displaying images differently.
Background - 10 years as a pro photographer, and I know what I'm doing around a Mac and color management. I finally "upgraded" from CS6 to CC when I got my new Mac.
    System -
Retina iMac w/Yosemite. Second monitor - HP LP2475w (Bridge sits on the HP monitor)
Both monitors have profiles generated with an i1 Display and the i1 Profiler application.
Both monitors are using their correct profiles
    Steps Already taken (condensed)
    1. Purge cache (multiple times throughout the process).
    2. Check color cache and cache permissions.
    3. Reinstall Bridge at the behest of Adobe support, even though this was a new install.
    4. Check that "Always high quality" thumbnails is checked in Bridge (this seems to have no effect either way).
    5. Check color settings - NA GP2 in Bridge. Interestingly, the same behavior is exhibited no matter what I select here.
    6. Drag Bridge to the iMac display - everything now looks good. Drag back - now BOTH Content and Preview are desaturated. Will stay like this until Bridge is restarted.
    7. Recalibrate the HP (Bridge) monitor. No change in behavior.
    8. Verify no sidecar xmp for this image, to rule out ACR in the problem.
    9. Open Output module to verify that the content panel looks the same way there (it does).
    10. Investigate ~user/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CC/Cache/ folders. Wow, the preview for this particular image in /1024/xxxx LOOKS CORRECT (like it does in the Preview panel). So Bridge IS generating high quality previews correctly.
    Thoughts -
    1. This seems unlikely to be a monitor profile issue. Bridge itself is displaying the same PSD two different ways. A bad profile would make everything on that monitor look wrong, wouldn't it?
    2. Some of my images sit on an external drive, but the screenshot here is from the internal mac drive, to try and rule that out.
    3. It's not some strange issue with the HP monitor not displaying color evenly across it's surface - if it were, than the screenshot would not show the difference between the panels. I also moved the Bridge window around the display to further verify that color is the same across the whole panel.
    4. Maybe Bridge ignores the profile for the content panel - but in the case of no profile, it assumes sRGB (or does it?) which is exactly what this image is. I have tried this with Adobe RGB images and the same behavior is exhibited.
    5. Previews are being generated correctly, but do not seem to be what is read off disc to display in the Content Panel.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. My gut feeling is that for some reason, Bridge is not showing me the saved high quality preview in the Content panel. But why?

Is your file tagged?  I.e. does it have the proper color profile embedded?
Is your monitor accurately calibrated and profiled?
What are your preferences in Bridge re previews and profiles?

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 display question

I am a landscape photographer.  Many times I shoot multiple exposures of the same scene to combine them later in HDR.  These are generally 3 or 5 exposures taken at the same time.  It would be very useful to see each set of multiple exposures on a separate line in Adobe Bridge so I can quickly choose which set to use for processing in HDR.  Does anybody know how to do that?  I could not see it in the View options in the menu bar of Bridge.  I am using Adobe Bridge CS6 (5.0.1.21) on MAC OSX 10.6.8. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

It would be very useful to see each set of multiple exposures on a separate line in Adobe Bridge so I can quickly choose which set to use for processing in HDR
You can't do so in Bridge when having different amounts of series. If you shot always 5 you could drag the content window to a new size in combination with changing the thumbnail size so 5 thumbs would show in a row. The same with 3 but there is no way to have a content window showing 1 line with 3 and 1 line with 5 files in the same panel.
In filmstrip mode you have 1 single line but that does not meet you wishes also.
There is the option to auto stack for HDR or Photomerge (Stacks / Auto stack Panorama-HDR) but frankly spoken this sucks because it either does not do the job properly or simply crashes Bridge to my experience.

  • Adobe Bridge CC Smart Collections are not displaying all images in the folder

I'm having an issue with Bridge CC were I setup a smart collection to monitor my new photos. The folder contains over 300 photos, but is only displaying 160. The only condition I set is to have a minium file size of 10kb, so it should bring in all files since most are over 4mb. At first I thought it was a problem with the files themselves (permissions or something) but if I open the folder in bridge it easily displays all of the images easily. Any ideas?

I'm having an issue with Bridge CC were I setup a smart collection to monitor my new photos.
You might want to describe this workflow a bit more. Do you create this from an existing folder or are you adding new photo's?
A Smart Collection does not refreshes it self automatically. You either have to use the edit icon top right of the content panel to save again or deselect and select the collection itself to let it refresh the content.

  • Bridge CS6 workspaces suddenly greyed; content panel is only active item

I am running CS6 and OS X 10.8.5. Everything was fine, and today suddenly Bridge has stopped working properly. Under the Window menu, workspaces are greyed. Under the View menu, As thumbnails, As details, As list are greyed/disabled.
Bridge appears to be locked into the Light Box workspace, except that there is no preview panel. The only panel available is the Content panel; when I select one or more files, there is/are no previews.
This is what the window looks like.
So far, these are the things I have tried, to no avail:
I have restarted the computer, restarted Bridge, I have purged the cache, disabled startup scripts.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

First try to delete the Bridge plist file from the user library.
Quit Bridge and go to the user library (by default hidden per OSX10.7, use menu Go with option to reveal).
User (your user name) / library/ Preferences / inhere find and manual delete the file called "com.adobe.bridge5.plist".
Again hold down option key while restart and again reset prefs.
If this is not working I'm afraid you have to reinstall Bridge CS6. First be sure you have backed up your keyword list if you have one and also look in the aforementioned user library but now Application Support / Adobe/ Bridge CS6. Copy this folder and content to a back up place for security. Inhere all are sort of custom settings including your custom workspaces, so if needed you can copy some of these setting back to the same folders and location of your new install.
Repeat this also for Photoshop (both same library / app support and preferences) for back up security of your custom settings because Bridge is part of PS install in CS6.
Be sure to have your install disk or image file for PSCS6 at hand including the serial number. Use the official uninstaller and once you are doing so also try the Adobe Cleaner Tool :
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  (read the instructions carefully before acting).
Run Apple disk utility to check and repair permissions and then reinstall PSCS6 that also installs Bridge CS6. Run the updaters and try again.
And a final thought, before doing the above create a new user account for testing and see if this helps. Sometimes User Accounts get corrupted and Bridge is very sensitive for that. MacOsX recovery disk can help to recreate the problem user account.

  • Print content of Adobe Bridge directory, how to?

Is there a way of printing the content, picture thumbnails and descriptions, of a directory accessed and displayed on screen in Adobe Bridge?

    Chris, thanx for your answer...
    But...
I read this manual (and another manuals as simple as it)...
I need to print another window (second) - not a main window...
I'm generate a HTML code for print and put it into new window - I need to print this new window...
Yours code printing content of main window...
I think that need replace "window.htmlLoader" for anything else... But for what?

  • How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 - does not display thumbnails for Canon 40D or 50D RAW files

I wanted to use Bridge to view my Canon EOS 50D RAW files and it does not display the thumbnails, just icons. I checked my 40D cr2 files and saw same thing.
I have purged the cache and rest the cache preferences and it has not helped. I would like to be abl eto view the thumbnails of the RAW files via Bridge if possible. Jpg files and Tif files can be viewed without any issues.
Am using Bridge version 2.1.1.9 and Pshop CS3 10.0.1

I have the exact same problem. I can view my RAW file thumbnails (which are .ARW files from my Sony A200 camera) in the Finder and in other applications, such as Preview, but not in Adobe Bridge CS3. I know that I did try purging the cache at one point to see if that would fix it, but then I didn't know what to do after that. Before I purged the cache, I was able to view RAW thumbnails in Bridge, but then they would not increase in size when I tried using the slider (at the bottom right of the Bridge window)

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 does not display WMF graphics files - what to do?

The question says it all.  I am running Win7Pro 64bit with Adobe Bridge CS6.  This may be a windows/microsoft/wmf file format problem...but what to do?  WMF files display with a icon only.  Please advise.

Apparently Bridge cannot preview .WMF files. I have old ClickArt CDs and occasionally want an image. So I have converted all the .WMF files to .AI using a script in Illustrator. Once converted, Bridge will display a thumbnail.
Here is the script written by Carlos Canto. (Thank you Carlos, whoever you are!)
Copy the script text. Paste in a plain text editor. Save as ConvertWMFtoAi.jsx in the folder Program Files: Adobe: Adobe Illustrator CS6: Presets: en_US: Scripts
Then you find it in Illustrator under File: Scripts
