Adjust for daylight time saving different for just one user

I justed started a new job and I am introduced in a new Windows Terminal Server environment. We use Windows 2003 Server, Exchange 2003, a Sun Fire V210 server and SunRay 270 TC's. The SUN part is totally new for me, so forgive me ;-)
We have one user that has an Outlook (2003) problem. She saw that after the 28th of March, when the summertime here in the Netherlands is active, her appointments are shifted for an hour. I checked as a Windows administrator the Windows TS she is working on and it has the correct TZ(GMT+1, Amsterdam) and the option for Adjust Daylight Time Saving is enabled.
Then I checked with her in Outlook, whether this setting is reflected correctly. In Outlook I went to Tools, options, Calendar Options, Time Zone and the checkbox 'Adjust for Daylight Time Saving' is disabled! That is strange since this should be the setting of the server and as I already wrote, this is correct. Ofcourse therefor she can't enabled it here. I let her login with her id card on a different TC 270 client and the same problem there. Than I started on my laptop a remote desktop connection to the Windows TS and we checked again. The strange thing is, now the option is enabled and all her appointments are correct after the 28th of March.
We have checked with all the other users and nobody else has this problem. We have deleted her Windows profile totally but this didn't solve it.
Since it only happens when using TC's, I reckon the problem is with the Sun TC's or the SunRay Server.
Does anybody has a clue what this could be? The Sun Fire doesn't save user specific information, does it?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards,
Olaf

Ok, now I am a bit confused. I saw the page http://wikis.sun.com/display/SRWC2dot2/Home and looking at that, it seems the SRWC software is Windows software, We have not installed any Windows software from SUN. So, also no SRWC software on Windows. I thought the SRWC was a software component on the SunRay server?
Maybe I did not explain the problem correctly, but the we have several thin clients, SunRay 270's. They are connected to the Sunray Server, Sun Fire v210. This server redirects them to our Windows Terminal Server. We use Exchange Server 2003 on our Windows 2003 Servers.
We have one user with the problem. She puts in her ID card in the TC, she is redirected to our WTS, she logs in in the Window login prompt. She starts Outlook and sees in there with Tools, Options, Calendar Options, Time Zone, that the Adjust Daylight Time Saving is disabled. Although this is on the WTS server enabled, system wide.
When she doesn't use a TC but starts a remote desktop connection from a Windows machine to the WTS, it works fine.
Again I apologise for my lack of knowledge on the SUN side of this.

  • Spool printing takes a long time for just one user

    Hello,
Could someone please guide on what could be the reason that spool printing takes a long time for just one user ?
I've monitored all the spool processes through SM50, and I've found that a very long time elapses before the printing job appears in one of the four spool processes.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
very long time elapses before the printing job appears in one of the four spool processes.
can u check the trace file(Red color error) of that spool process. Also can u see if there are any system logs in SM21 related to that spool request.
Also see how many pages the user is giving print @ 1 shot. Suppose if the printer to whcih the user is giving print is a network printer, see the network response time.
Have u tried to ask the same user to give print to some other printer. Also have u asked some other user to print to that problematic printer. Check the responses under this scenario also.

Using win 7 and latest iTunes [10.6.3]. Have already gone through below links and did not find any solution.

I was hoping it would be something like a USB device conflict, but now the shuffle is the only thing connected...
This article was one of the ones you linked to above in your initial post
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears?  That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again.  If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked.  If so, check it and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change.  Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

Then talk to your finance collegues and decide whether finance has to change the field selection for the account, or you have to change the fiel selection for your movement.

  • Daylight Time Saving - SQL Server 2008 Mirroring

    Dear SQL Forum Group Members,
    1) Could anyone clarify me, will there be any issues in SQL server 2008 Mirroring because of Daylight Time saving ?? Also, will there be any impact on Tlog backup scheduled jobs which will be running in 15 Minutes interval.?
    2) Do i need to reschedule my mirroring & scheduled jobs on Daylight saving days?? Is there manual(DBA) Intervention needed on these days??
    Awaiting your valuable feedback.

Nope, there won't be any impact on the database mirroring as it continually transfer the log.

  • Daylight Time Saving......

I recently got this java project which needs someone to do this daylight time saving stuff..... the problem is i don't quite understand how the timing works... so can anyone whose familiar with Australia's daylight saving explain to me?... or maybe some codes to let me have a look....
    Thanks in advance....

Daylight saving time. You don't have that where you live? Anyway, the idea is that sometime in the spring, the clock is set forward by one hour. The result is that the sun appears to set one hour later in the evening and rise one hour earlier in the morning, thus saving electricity usage. Then sometime in the fall, the clock is set backward by one hour. There is nothing unusual about DST in Australia, I don't think, except that their spring is around September and October, which might confuse somebody from the Northern Hemisphere.

  • How do I just backup just one user account on Time Machine?

    Hello everyone,
I've moved to a new computer with Mountain Lion and didn't have my backup disc available when I first set up the computer.  Now, after restoring from my backup, I have two user accounts that I am trying to combine as per instructions here.  I know it's challenging and I may have to reinstall the OS and start from scratch, so I'd like to backup before I do it.  Unfortunately I haven't plugged in Time Machine since I've used Migration Assistant, because I didn't know if I could or if it'd overwrite my old data.
How can I back up the new computer without creating two user accounts (the ones I'm trying to combine) on my external drive?  And please don't recommend just buying another external hard drive.  Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Aside from starting over, losing whatever you've done on the new machine, see Pondini's Transferring files from one User Account to another. If you haven't done much and can afford to lose that data, I suggest starting over, following the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide. That should result in just one user account.

  • Using a single external drive for both Time Machine AND for manual backups?

I'm new to Leopard and haven't launched Time Machine yet. I would like to use a single (500 GB) external hard drive to use with Time Machine, plus I would like to use whatever portion of this external drive Time Machine isn't using to keep some other files upon it as well--things that I can drag-and-drop manually and then trash from my computer's HD (avi files, etc., so that they don't take up space on the computer). Is there anything special I need to do with the external hard drive before I let Time Machine have its way with it, so that I can also do drag-and-drop manual file backups with it?

I’m not terribly knowledgeable, but I’ll tell you what seems to be working for me.
I also have a 500GB external drive which I had planned to use for TM for my MBP. I partitioned it (using Disk Utility) into two partitions. One I created nearly the same size as my MBP drive, the other I used for TM.
I used the smaller partition for a backup using SuperDuper prior to upgrading from Tiger to Leopard. Once I tested that I was able to boot from it and that all my programs seemed to work, I upgraded to Leopard and told it to use the other partition for TM.
It then created a TM icon for the other partition and, to the machine, it looks like a separate drive. I’ve seen no performance hit at all.
Just one man’s experience, though I haven’t yet tried to retrieve anything.
    Good luck.

  • Jcifs exception for just one user

We have jira deployed under solaris, and we're using NTLM authentication via jcifs. For one user we are seeing an exception being thrown all other user have no problem. The exception is the standard:
jcifs.smb.SmbAuthException: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
    at jcifs.smb.SmbTransport.checkStatus(SmbTransport.java:503)
If we move the jira instance to a windows machine from solaris this one user gets authenticated successfully. Move things back to solaris and this one single user cannot get authenticated.
I was hoping someone could give me a lead, as this seems very strange and not very computer like to me...
    ;)

turns out the solaris to windows move was only part of the equation, probably symptomatic of the immediate issue. As it happened if the user went to a different machine the problem didnt exist. So it was tied to a particular machine. Im thinking there was/is some invalid kerberos ticket hanging around for some reason, or some registry setting on the client machine... who knows! Im sure the evidence is all there, just canny see the wood for the trees sometimes.
Thank you for any thoughts raised, we can close this one off.

  • How can I enable spell checking for a text box that is just one line, e.g. subject in e-mail?

In a prior version of Firefox I found a website somewhere that told me what to do to enable spell checking for text boxes that are just one line. I got used to being able to send an e-mail with a Subject Line that didn't have a misspelling. Now it doesn't work. Please tell me how I can enable that again. I am on a Mac using Firefox 6.0.2. Thanks!

    See:

You can set the pref <b>layout.spellcheckDefault</b> to <i>2</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.

I just dropped my new macbook pro on the ground, it dents a little. So can I bring it to apple store, and repair it for free? BTW: I bought it just one month ago. Thank you very much

No, user caused accidents are not warranty coverage,  nor are spills, loss, theft etc.
all these user caused issues have no bearing on the warranty coverage.
    they are outside of same.
All laptop mfg. are identical in this nature  (same with your car too of course)

  • Syncing issues for just one User

I have one user who has an issue with the flags for messages that have been replied to or forwarded via ActiveSync intermittantley not updating back to Outlook or OWA.
This has been the case with at least 5 different andriod devices, and several new Outlook profiles have been created also.

Is there anything you can see in the Application Logs for this user e.g. Event IDs 10030 & 10031?
Try moving the user to another mailbox database to see if this resolves the issue.
