Admin user, cannot pair remote
I've tried several times to pair my Apple remote with my imac to no avail. I've tried holding it a few inches away (sensor is below the black apple, right?). So far, one of two things happens: Front Row either pops up or... nothing (nothing if I press "next" first then "Menu"). I've held as long as 15s with no luck. It worked on my Macbook easily. Any ideas?
The CR2032 battery is a common size and easily replaced, you should have no problem finding one most anywhere for around 3 or $4's.

Non-admin user cannot access Essbase server level variables

Essbase Substitution variables are created at server level. Users are getting error in FR report that uses the Subsitution Variable -- Essbase Error(1051085): You do not have sufficient access to get this substitution variable. Also, users cannot access Substitution variable in SmartView. However, users can access variables created at database level. Users are provisioned as "Server Access" to Essbase and filter access to ASO application "MGTRPTG", where MGTRPTG is an ASO essbase application for reporting. We tried the same provisioning in two other environments and it seems to be working fine.
User is type "Essbase and Planning" provisioned with essbase "server access", application mgtrptg "filter", Reporting and Analysis "analyst", "dynamic viewer" and "Explorer". In addition, it is given a filter "REP_DME_GALB" which restricts 2 dimensions (Division and Geography).
Steps taken to resolve:
1. Existing users were deprovisioned and reprovisioned with no effect.
2. Created brand new identically provisioned users in Prod and QA. QA user can access the server level var and Prod user cannot
3. Created a brand new server level variable in Prod and this cannot be accessed.
4. All services have already been restarted several times.
5. SR has been opened.
Temporary workaround:
By creating a duplicate of the same set of variables at the database level, the reports work. This can only be a temporary workaround as the client cannot be expected to maintain two sets of substitution variables since there are 3 applications using these server level variables.

JenniferYou have stumbled on a defect which is resolved in the Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 patch 6 and above. If you have your planning preferences set to indent members it will cause forms which have page selections to show as invalid in SmartView.
You can either patch Planning or turn off the preference. The patches are available from http://metalink3.oracle.com and require account which has been associated with your client ID.
P.S. Usually it's not a good practice to use the admin id.

Why admin user cannot create Business Rules ?

Why admin user can't create Business Rules. We've to create other userID and give the required roles and then we create Busines rules right ? Pls. adviceHistorically, Business rules has an internal "native" admin user. When Hyperion is externalized, this internal id can conflict with the Shared Services admin user. Effectively the two admin ids start to conflict and cause issues. There are methods to resolve this issue, but I suggest as a rule not using the admin id for business rules, therefore bypassing the problem.

I have installed and configured spiceworks and also added a new admin user, but when the user clicks on the invite link, the link doesn't work.

OBIEE 11G weblogic admin user cannot create new Analysis
Hi,
I have deployed a new RPD and can log into the Presentation services using the weblogic Administrator account. I can see the dashboards and reports.
When I attempt to go to Answers (expecting a link for New -> Analysis), I don't see that link. Seems like this user does not have permissions to create new Analysis.
Checking on WLS, I found that my weblogic user is entered under the following three groups:
Administrators
BIAdministrators
BIAuthors
What am I missing ?

1. Login to obiee and append the URL with Managegroups ( http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Managegroups)
2. Select the "Presentation Server Administrators" group
3. Edit -> search user and add it to this group.
4. Login with the user added and check if he can "Administrator --> mange catalog and permission".

The admin user cannot login into the login window directly on the server, I tried Using the install CD, and changing the root and admin user password and SSH from a terminal MacBook Pro with the command line: "ssh root@XXXXXXXX", it seem like is blocked or maybe the user expired.
The system: Weblogs, QuickTime Streaming, is working fine. I have connected (optical fibrer) a Xserve Raid and is working too.This is not a direct solution, but might help you see what is going on. Non-admin users and Time Machine
We have a 1-1 laptop program with 7th and 8th grade students. The students are not admins of their own laptops.
This year we gave each student an external hard drive and had them use Time Machine to back-up their accounts. The problem was when a student needed to restore from Time Machine, we needed to enter the administrator's password.
We'll be switching to Lion over the summer, and by default, a non-admin user cannot even turn on Time Machine without an adminsitrator's password, which makes Time Machine useless. I don't want to have our students go back to manually dragging and dropping all of their school data (and movies and music) to back it all up (what a messy process).
Is there any way around the need for an admin password to use Time Machine?Time Machine (the application) is already allowed. That's not the problem.
In order to set-up Time Machine the first time, users have to open the Time Machine Preference, and that is locked. When a user tries to unlock it, they need to enter an administrator's password, but our students are only standar users.
We don't want to have to enter that password for 250 machines each time students need to access that preference.
In addition, an administrator's password is needed to restore anything from a Time Machine drive, and we'd like a way around that too. -
Cannot see all folders on remote Mac, even when "Connect As" admin user
Shouldn't an "admin user" be able to see all folders, including Desktop, Documents, etc. of other users? I'd like to be able to see all folders.

I don't think so.
Try this.
On your Mac, in Finder, click on the top item in Sidebar, Macintosh HD
Now open Users
Now click on a user that is not you.
If your system is like mine, you will see red dots on most of the folders, meaning you do not have access to them.
If you can't do it locally, then it's probably not possible to do it remotely.
An administrator account does not have universal privileges. -

"Domain Admins" falls into the category of protected groups and it is included in ADminSDHolder process. It is normal and was designed in order to prevent the modification to these privileged groups. More information on the link below:

Remote management under Sharing will not allow me to add admin user
I have just imaged my iMac lab to Lion. I am using Apple Remote Desktop 3.5. (I have used it for several years and know how to set it up and use it.) The problem I am having is adding my admin account to the list of users that are allowed remote management through sharing in system preferences.
The user list shows every other account, but will not show my admin account. I have imaged labs each year and have never experienced this issue. Not sure where to go from here. I am able to log in to each of the systems using the missing admin account but can't add that user to authorize remote management as it isn't listed. The sytems have recently been updated to 10.7.4.
For example, I have these accounts:
Me (admin)
User 1
User 2
User 3
User 4
When I go to system prefs>sharing>remote manage and click the Add to authorize only certain users, I only see User's 1-4. The admin account isn't listed...even if I am not currently logged into that account.
*I have just updated to ARD 3.6.I can add "Administrators" under Remote Login just not Remote Management.

9i Application Server (httpd 1.0.2.2.2). This part of the ebso 11.5.10 stack. Many
reasons why i had to do this but i could not see a compat issue ? This is only
test bed as well, not a production configuration.
Followed all v2 post-install tasks - httpd.conf/wdbsvr.app .
DAD/modplsql config OK.
On connection to admin interface - host:port/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin, gives what i would call the 'standard' browser logon page ? Not the htmldb logon template
Thought it may be issue with images alias but don't really know and cannot see issue with config files ?

ADo you have an alias setup for the images directory? For example -
Alias /i/ "....path to images directory..."If not, then that's probably the cause of your problem. If you do have that entry, then check that the path is correct, and check that the permissions on that directory are such that the user that the webserver is running as can access the directory. -

Cannot change admin user to standard user (2 Admin Accounts)
I have an issue that I would like some help with. When I purchased my iMac a few years ago, I created one user account and just started using my computer. I am trying to implement a few Safe Computing practices by creating a new Admin user account and changing my original user account to a Standard user.
For some reason, I cannot change either of the accounts to a standard user after I type in the password. I've logged in as both and tried to change the other user profile to a standard user, but the checkbox is greyed out on both of the Admin User accounts.
I can create a new standard user, but I have everyting set the way I like it on my current Admin user account. It would be much easier to have a new Admin User account and "Downgrade" my original Admin account to a standard user account.
Any thoughts on why the option to change from an Admin user to a standard user would be "Greyed Out"? The support articles walk me through, what should be a few simple steps, but I can not change the settings because the checkbox is greyed out.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, suggestions, ideas....In a way it makes sense that the original Admin Account can;t be changed. If a user changed that account to non-admin and that was the only admin account it would be a mess to undo it. I agree that there should be some indication of this and even the ability to over rider it in a case like yours.
As there isn't the next best thing will be for you to duplicate the current admin account as a new user account and then use that duplicated account.

Cannot Connect to Facebook from Admin User
Just recently I am not able to connect to Facebook from my Admin User account, and it's the same for all three browsers. Something has changed in the config somewhere and I can't find it. I can login as Guest and access my Facebook just fine. I can load Windows via Parallels and access it just fine.
I have tried accessing the web via a different Modem and Network and still have the same problem. I have set the DNS server to 8.8.8.8. The Firewall is turned off. I do not have a firewall managers. I do not have any Parental controls turned on. I have created a seperate user with admin rights and the same problem occurs. I have flushed the DNS cache from terminal. I have tried pinging facebook, but it does not return a connection.
This is a stumper and I'm pulling my hair out. Any ideas anyone?
