Adobe CS5 and 5D MII

Hi,
Does any one know if there is a preset in Premiere CS5 for  Canon 5D files, is so which one is it?
Thanks
Mitchell

From CS5 Help:
Native support for DSLR cameras
Edit video from the latest DSLR cameras. New native support means that you never waste valuable production time transcoding or rewrapping, and always have access to the original file’s pristine quality. Adobe Premiere Pro supports video shot on the following DSLR cameras:
Canon EOS-1D Mark IV,
Canon EOS-5D Mark II,
Canon EOS 7D,
Nikon D90,
Nikon D300S,
Nikon D3S
Nikon D5000
Panasonic Lumix GH1 using AVCHD sequence presets.
I dont have personal experience editing these formats.  DSLRs tend to shoot highly compressed form of HD, ergo will tend to be more of a challenge to edit.

  • Adobe CS5 and Macbook Pro Retina Display

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro Retina Display notebook. Before I got it, I didn't realize what an effect it would have on my existing programs, and had I known, I would have thought twice before switching. I have never had so many problems with a brand new computer. It seems absurd to me that Apple would introduce a product that was not supported by so many important software platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and Acrobat Pro included.
I have Adobe CS5 and was not planning on upgrading to CS6. It is too expensive and I am a poor PhD student with lots of work to finish. Now when I use my CS5 applications, I see the images in very poor quality. The program will not let me change the "Open in Low Resolution" settings as the button is disabled. I do not know how to make it look better or what to do. I cannot work using this low resolution. It hurts my eyes and I cannot see the lines properly to be able to adjust my drawings.
    What can I do?

    Hi Rossco,
    You're right, the program works and the content produced is unaffected. My rationale to get the program work environment to be Retina compatible includes;
Visual clarity. For reading glasses wearers such as myself, the blockyness can be frustrating. But regardless of middle aged disability, it just looks better when a program is Retina compatible.
It's a major component of my work environment, so making the most of the computer's assets is important to me.
It (OK, this is the emotional statement Rossco ;-)) frustrates me that an Educational program fails to take advantage of a computer type very commonly used in Ed departments. And Retina is not new, nor a passing fad.
Adobe do commit to Retina compatibility, evidenced by Acrobat updated recently. Captivate please!!??
    Best regards
    Nick

  • Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with re

Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with reddish cast and loss of detail
    System: Windows 7
    Adobe CS5
    Printer: Epson Stylus Photo 1400
Paper: Inkjet matte presentation paper with slight luster
Installed latest patch for Adobe CS5
    Epson driver up to date
After reading solutions online and trying them for my settings for 2 days I am still unable to print what I am seeing on my screen in Adobe CS5. I calibrated my monitor, but am not sure once calibration is saved if I somehow use this setting in Photoshop’s color management.
The files I am printing are photographs of dogs with lots of detail  I digitally painted with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop CS5 and then printed with Epson Stylus 1400 on inkjet paper 20lb with slight luster.
My Printed images lose a lot of the detail & come out way to dark with a reddish cast and loss of detail when I used these settings in the printing window:
Color Handling: Photoshop manages color, Color management -ICM, OFF no color adjustment.
When I change to these settings in printer window: Color Handling:  Printer manages color.  Color management- Color Controls, 1.8 Gamma and choose Epson Standard it prints lighter, but with reddish cast and very little detail and this is the best setting I have used so far.
Based on what I have read on line, I think the issue is mainly to do with what controls are set in the Photoshop Color Settings window and the Epson Printer preferences. I have screen images attached of these windows and would appreciate knowing what you recommend I enter for each choice.
Also I am confused as to what ICM color management system to use with this printer and CS5:
What is the best ICM to use with PS CS5 & the Epson 1400 printer? Should I use the same ICM for both?
Do I embed the ICM I choose into the new files I create?
Do I view all files in the CS5 workspace in this default ICM?
Do I set my monitor setting to the same ICM?
If new file opens in CS5 workspace and it has a different embedded profile than my workspace, do I convert it?
Do I set my printer, Monitor and PS CS5 color settings to the same ICM?
Is using the same ICM for all devices what is called a consistent workflow?
I appreciate any and all advice that can be sent my way on this complicated issue. Thank you in advance for your time and kind help.

It may be possible to figure out by watching a Dr.Brown video on the subject of color printing. Adobe tv
    I hope this may help...............

  • Adobe cs5 and Lion

Now that it has been out for a few months, I was thinking about installing OS 10.7 Lion. Is anyone here using it along with Adobe CS5 applications? Are you getting glitch-free results?
    Thanks, and happy 2012,
    Nicky

Looks like it's way too soon to adopt Lion. Regardless of whether it's Apple's dev crew or Adobe's who haven't done their homework well enough, I see a really high percentage of problems reported, a lot of them in the last month or two.
I need a headache-free upgrade, so I'll just wait till late spring.

  • Anyone having printer problems with adobe cs5 and mountain lion

I can print one copy in adobe cs5 but if I hit the print button it shuts down the program.  Anyone having this problem besides me?

Are the drivers for your printer are up to date? You probably can print one copy cause it doesn't access the option window in your application.

  • Adobe CS5 and Growl

Here is some information about Growl and CS5. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/840/cpsid_84093.html
Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE) for CS5 will have the ability to not install Growl on client machines. AAMEE is the CS5 version of the CS4 Deployment Toolkit.
AAMEE will be available as a free download on May 28th 2010. There is a check box to disable Registration in AAMEE.Disabling registration will prevent Growl from being installed.
    Thanks, Adobe CS team

Growl is simply a harmless notification system - it can be configured to show a message on screen when something happens. What kind of things? When you receive and email, when an app finishes exporting or rendering that sort of thing.
Some software manufacturers have taken to adding growl to their own installs - as Adobe have in this case - and while it does no harm it's a bit presumptuous on their part. The makers of Growl are somewhat innocent in the matter.
They have a page on the matter here
    http://growl.info/thirdpartyinstallations.php
with details of how to remove it. They also link to Adobe's "apology".

  • Advice on upgrading G5 PPC dual 2GHz to run Adobe CS5 and more

Currently running a PowerPC dual 2GHz G5 Mac with 1GB RAM, 160GB HD and OSX 10.4.11. My company is going to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 which requires Intel-base machines. We have 10 desktops that need upgrading but a limited budget. Which Intel Mac would you recommend for running CS5.5, QuarkXPress 7.5, MSOffice2011, FileMaker Pro 9? What have been the issues with Snow Leopard and has there been any stability surrounding it? Thanks in advance!

Oh well with $40k you're going to be just fine.
The 27" iMac with the following specs is only $2,718.
    2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    2TB Serial ATA Drive
    8x double-layer SuperDrive
    ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
    Magic Mouse
AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll
Should easily be enough to do what you want. If you think you might want to up the RAM a bit then 16GB of RAM would only raise the price to $3,118. These all of course include the AppleCare on them as well.
Then if you wanted to add a couple laptops for portability then they are of a similar price as well.
Think about it a bit though. 21.5" iMac's could probably do you well enough running the i5 and are a bit cheaper at around $2,218 a unit.
Mac Mini's are much, much weaker in specs and you would also have to buy a monitor for all of them (Around $100-$200 for a decent one) with a price in the range of $1300.
I would suggest some 21.5" iMac's as well as some of the 27" ones keeping it around $25k-$30k in range giving you $10k+ to work with for software.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Illustrator and InDesign CS5 crash when trying to place images. Happens around 5+ times a day.

    Hi there
This Mac is quite new and was originally a migration (using Migration Assistant) from an older Mac.
Illustrator and InDesign in CS5 were both crashing often and most of the time it's when placing an image (in either application) – it doesn't crash each time I try to place an image, but 90% of the crashes are when placing an image.
We tried lots of things, like cleaning out the fonts, clearing font caches etc. After several months of that, we decided to wipe the Mac clean and start from scratch. It has been reformatted with a clean install of the OS and only minimal additional software added. Although quite a few fonts have been reinstalled, they all validate in Font Book.
One other thing of note is that the Adobe Updater fails to complete an update and so we have had to update each application manually from the Adobe website.
I would be so grateful someone could help shed some light on what is going on. Here's an EtreCheck report. Can also provide crash reports from the Console if useful.
    Thanks!

I'm looking upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) from Mac OS X 10.6.8, both on on iMac & MacBook, just want to know, anyone has found upgrading to Mavericks creates problems for running Adobe CS5 and CS6 applications....?

  • How to remove Plosive sounds in Adobe CS5

Hi, I am singing into my dynamic mic using adobe cs5 and for some reason I cannot avoid the harsh plosive sounds being picked up by mic.
When I play it back it makes a huge "PUH" sound and really doesn't sound very nice.
Im sure a program like CS5 will allow me to remove these harsh plosive noises but I dont know how.
    Please help
    Thanks

Well, all the stuff about getting a recording without the plosives is well and good....but if all you have is the recording in post, then the FFT filter is a good tool to work with.Highlight the plosive (and only the plosive. Try to avoid the rest of the word) -- it will be pretty easy to see in the wave file. Go to the FFT filter in Effects Bring everything below 80Hz down to zero. Then draw a curve so that 100Hz and higher is at 100% and start playing with the curve to find the right amount of frequencies to take out.
I've found in my years of radio work, that cutting out frequencies below 100Hz and leaving the rest alone will work good enough about 60% of the time. There are some plosives that go up to 250Hz and higher...you really can't fix those to take them completely out, but you can make them better. Sometimes it helps to also reduce the amplitude some after you've applied the filter.
But, you'll find that people who pop will pop A LOT...and they always seem to be saying (or singing) things with a lot of P's. So it's always better to use pop filters, mic positionioning, vocal technique, and such during the recording. But I think you'll find that FFT filter will be your friend when all that other stuff isn't enough.
(BTW, I'm sure there's probably somethig you can do with the magic healing brush to accomplish this same thing, I just haven't futtzed with it enough to know how to do it there).

  • Software/hardware integration: Adobe CS5 & Brother MFC-J825 DW

    Hi
I think this may well be my first ever post to these forums... so be nice!
I work as an illustrator, and have used Photoshop in combination with scanners for years, no problems. Fairly recently - actually this all coincided with a hiatus in my illustration work, which has meant that 'fairly recently' is a little while ago now - I moved on to Adobe CS5, and around the same time changed from an Epson multi-function scanner/printer to a Brother one (MFC-J825DW).
My old style workflow was this: draw pics, scan them, work on them in either (or both) Photoshop and Illustrator. With my Epson printer I was able to launch Photoshop and scan directly. I liked the simplicity of that one-step processs immensely.
Since upgrading to CS5 and getting the Brother printer I can no longer do this. It introduces a new step, which is the Brother 'Control Center' software. I REALLY dislike this. I much prefer to open Photoshop and do all the scanning related work in a single step within the software in which I'll subsequently be editing the images.
Although I've read a number of threads relating to this topic - e.g. this one:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/849413 - none have actually resolved it so far.
I've downloaded a TWAIN driver from Brother, and placed it in the appropriate folder, but I still don't have any way to scan from Photoshop. It used to be that within Photoshop I would go:
File > Import > Epson TWAIN
... but despite downloading the Brother TWAIN driver and installing it (well, actually I found it was already there, but I re-installed it anyway), nothing shows relating to scanners under File > Import >
Having spent just under four hours trawling the web, inc. various forums, and calling Brother, Adobe, and even the shop where I brought the device, I have still got nowhere. So any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Seb

  • Repeating colored background in Adobe CS5....why ????

OK, I have a very interesting question for you experts out there:
After doing a blue-screen shot, I wanted to put just a flat color as the background and fade from one color to the next as the subject acts in front of the blue-screen.
I made the colors in Adobe Photoshop using an old image and just painting it over with whatever color I want.  After making several, I went to add them as the background in Adobe CS5 and it worked fine.
The problem I encountered is this:  When I put the first color background in (let's say brown), then I go to add another colored background from the same source file where I stored all the different backgrounds, it keeps bringing up the "brown" background again.  It says it's the "pink" background, but it shows brown and drags into the scene as brown.  No matter what I do, even putting the original brown background into a different source file, it keeps bringing up the brown one again and again.
Very strange dilema, and I have no idea how to solve it.
Do any of you guys know what the problem is?  Have any of you run into this kind of thing before?  Is there a solution?
It can't be the computer or CS5 'cause they're both brand new, so it's obviously ME not knowing what the hell I'm doing......
Thanks for any help and advise.

I have not seen an issue with JPEG's, BUT... I seldom use them, and I do not have CS5 installed yet. As Colin mentions, there does seem to be a glitch (?) with some JPEG's.
Glad that the TIFF's work for you. When doing almost anything in PS, that will go to Video, I keep the format PSD, and will either Import as Footage, if I don't care about my Layers (this will Flatten the Layers), or as a Sequence, should I want the Layers. In the workflow that you outline, I'd probably create the one Image (good move to set this up per the Frame Size of the Project, BTW), and just do a Layer for each "background." Then, I'd Import as a Sequence, and just drag each Layer to the main Sequence, as needed.
The suggestion to use Color Mattes is also a good one, though if one wants a different look, than just a flat color, PS can allow all sorts of creative functions/Filters to alter that color from "plain-vanilla" to something "other worldly."
Good luck, and thanks for reporting that the TIFF's work for you!

  • Can I correct small guitar mistakes using Adobe CS5?

Hi, I am recording classical guitar using Adobe CS5 and wanted to know if there was a good way to correct very small and minor mistakes. eg bum notes etc?
I have already tried this using multi-track mode by seperately playing the required notes and then trying to dub them over the original recording but to be honest I don't really know what i'm doing.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Dan

Things like Melodyne can, in theory, do electronic correction of incorrect notes (though it never sounds right to me).  However, I think you were on the right track in the first place.
Audition is one of the best (if not THE best) audio editors out there.  If you've been able to record the faulty passages again, there are various ways to edit them in.  You can either do as you have been--put the replacement passages in an adjacent track and, after zooming in really close, use volume envelopes to do a quick cross fade to the better take then a second cross fade back to the original.  If you're not confident in your abilities I'd probably work this way since you can adjust the timing and positioning to your heart's content.
Or, a purist would probably literally edit the better take into the original track.
Or, for the future, explore the option in Audition known as a "punch in".  You can set Audition to playback your existing track up to a convenient point just before the error (so you can play along with it) then automatically edit to your live playing, then back to the track.  You can do this as often as you like until you're happy with the result.
    Good luck!

what is difference between adobe photoshop  and photoshop extended cs5

    Hi,
The biggest difference is the 3D feature set is only available in Ps Extended CS5. Exclusive to Extended CS5 also are timeline for video editing, Dicom format support, Stack mode blending, analysis measurement tools, and some 32-bit painting capabilities.
Some things have changed for the Photoshop Extended CS6 version, mainly enabling more of the video editing features for both products.
