Adobe Edge - generic questions

Hi,  I've a couple of fairly generic questions regarding Adobe Edge:  - Is it part of the Adobe Creative Cloud? - I'm looking to produce animated online web ads (leader board / MPU) As far as I'm aware I can produce HTML 5 in this, is this correct?  Can I also produce .swf files too?  My overall aim to get trained on a package which can produce online interactive animated ads (which will play on both PC and Apple devices old and new).  Flash only seems to produce .swf (don't work on some Apple products) Is Edge the answer?  Thanks in advance,  Andy

Hi, Andy-
Edge Animate is available for download from the Creative Cloud, so you should already be able to see it in your offerings.  Animate works natively in HTML, so it can't output SWF.  I believe Flash can export to Canvas using CreateJS (http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flash-to-html5.html), but Canvas support is uneven across all browsers.  We are working with other advertising agencies, so I can tell you that there is good interest in Edge Animate as a solution for HTML-based animated advertisements.
Hope that helps you,
-Elaine

  • License Question - Adobe Edge Inspect

    Ok, here is the problem. We have 3 Creative Suite Cloud licenses for 3 members of our team to use at work. Awesome.
    We have now built a mobile testing station which is one computer connected to numerous mobile devices for testing purposes. We want to Use Adobe Edge Inspect on this computer in order to do this. But when I install Creative Cloud and try and set Edge Inspect up it tells me I need a paid version in order to connect multiple devices. Do I need to buy a whole new Creative Suite License for this computer in order to use this one 'lite' application? Or can I use one of our existing licenses so that I can run this application on the testing station?
    Thanks
    Mike

    If the installation would be getting used at the same time that the other license owners would be using their CC installations then you likely need to have a separate license for the test station.  The CC licensing allows for installation on two machines with the exception that the subscription is only in use for one machine at any given time.

  • Adobe Edge Animate JavaScript Coding issues/page load time speeds

    To let you have an idea of my skill set I have a background in animation and design and have been taking classes in web development. My question is about how to create an interactive website that loads various animation depending on the user's choice and current place within the Adobe Edge Animate timeline. The website I developed for a client @ www.goshowpro.com works but loads slower than I want and doesn't format properly on my client's Macbook (I believe he needs to update his browsers but that is something else.)
    So as you can see from looking at my website I used a multitude of HTML files to create my vision of an interactive website based off of a theatrical stage. I know this is not an ideal method. I would prefer to have it all on one page but I am having trouble with my javascript coding. I was wondering if there would be away to expedite my current site's load time and if not if you could look at my NEW coding. (This IS NOT the current coding on the site.)
    if = "hstop" "chomstop" "shomstop" "phomstop"
    {sym.play("hporstart")};
    else = "hconstop" "sconstop" "pconstop"
    {sym.play("cporstart")};
    else = "hserstop" "cserstop" "pserstop"
    {sym.play("sporstart")};
    It looks crappy but I'm trying to learn so don't laugh too much. Thanks again.
    Michael

    Hi, Marlene-
    We currently bundle jQuery 1.7.1 with the Animate runtime.  In order to call fadeOut() on the element newSquare, you would do the following:
    sym.$("newSquare").fadeOut();
    OR
    sym.getSymbol("newSquare").getSymbolElement().fadeOut();
    Hope that helps!

  • Adobe Edge Animate CC won't preview in Browser

    I am writing a review on Adobe Edge Animate CC. Loving the program until I tried to preview it in a browser.
    I am on a PC, using latest version of Firefox, and IE10. The only thing that is viewable in either browser is a static image.
    The animation runs perfectly "within" the Edge Animate CC program.
    Need to resolve this problem, as I would hate to give the program a bad review, especially if it is something that I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks for any help you can give,
    Dee Marie

    Thanks for your response to my question.
    The animation I created was very simple one.
    The Original Animation (that I could not view in any browser)
    1. Resized the Stage and changed the background color
    2. Created a "moon" shape from the Ellipse Tool, adding a silver color and inverted shadow
    3. Animated "moon" shape using Motion Paths
    4. Added a font from Edge Web Fonts (clicking the Add Fonts within the Edge Web Fonts box), changed font color and size
    Saved each step as I created them
    The first time I tried to create the above animation it would not animate when previewed in browser.
    TODAY: I started from scratch.
    The only thing that I did differently: after saving "each" step, I clicked preview in browser.
    To my surprise, each time I added an additional step the animation worked perfectly when I clicked "preview in browser"
    Not sure what I did wrong the first time ... as I stated above, the only thing that I did differently this time was to click the "preview in browser" between each step (after first saving each step).
    So, whatever I did, it is now working perfectly!
    Thanks again for your helpful response.
    Sincerely,
    Dee Marie

  • Photoshop 3D image export into Adobe Edge?

    Hi,
    I am hoping to design an image / animation like the one shown below, in software (probably Photoshop), and then import this image into Adobe Edge for the user to interact with.
    I have a few questions that I hope people could help with:
    1. Should Photoshop be used if I am considering importing into Edge (File Size issues?)
    2. Is Adobe Edge suitable to animate this design? - Why? (Note: I am looking for the pitch to rotate and stop at certain frames when user will click on certain links.
    3. This is planned to be hosted on a CMS Joomla, where users will have access to certain animaitons based on membership (tiered) - Is this possible? - Why?
    4. Is it wishful thinking to link Photshop, Adobe Edge and Joomla in this way (compatibility issues)?
    Many thanks for any help, an answer would be a god send and I am sure would help many developers and designers out there also.
    JG

    Thanks again Station_two..
    Mylenium, thank you for your feedback and you make some, no doubt, valid points based on years of experience. But your point (I know it sounds rude, but no harm intended!). stands out like a sore thumb. There are many of us who are trying to learn these skills and I amongst others am really trying my best to become an effective designer and/or developer.
    Short and to the point: I have created a site in Joomla with a backend database which I am hoping to get onto my remote host soon. This site contains information on users with ACL for specific members. Dependent on the subscription the users of the site have paid for, will determine what access they have to various features such as animations, the animations that I have requested some help and advice on creating. I have basic actionsript knowledge which I believe will be needed in whichever software I choose.
    I am looking for software that will allow me to create this image and animation and I'm guessing after scrolling through hundreds of pages that Photoshop may be the answer initally and then be able to animate in another program, adding interactivity within it.
    Now, I may be "pretty clueless about web techniques on a more general level", but I think I have done OK so far, and need some help from more expreienced and skilled users like yourself to get this project off the ground.
    I sincerely hope that I can get a more positive and helpful response.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe-Edge content not displayed in iframes on Internet Explorer 9

  • How to embed Adobe Edge HTML5 animations into carousel instead of images.

    Is the above question possible? I cannot figure out a way to embed any of my html5 animations (created in Adobe Edge) into a carousel. I have tried creating a nested slider inside of Edge, and I have tried hard coding it, but can not figure out an appropriate solution.

    Nancy,
    Slideshow is now working great, but I cannot get my animations to exist within the slides themselves. I tried them inside this html but not inside the slideshow, and they work fine, but if I try to add them into the slider, nothing happens and that particular slide is simply blank. • Moving from Flash to Adobe Edge - concerns

    Lets Design makes flash banners for some of our clients (we also make flash games).
    We'd like to shft toward html5 animated banners. As a business we do not wish to take a risk and jump to using Adobe Edge / HTML5 if it's deemed too risky. I would like to know if anyone has any reasons for us not to do this shift?
    I would also like to know of this communities opinions on the following:
    1. Their is a post on Adobe Edge examples. Inside this thread are a number of links to peoples examples. A vast majority point to 404 pages and to pages that take an age to load. Should this slow loading example pages be of concern to us and subsequently our clients?
    2. What are the best graphic formats to use for Adobe Edge. I'd like to start using SVG, yet Adobe seems to have a lack of integration between software packages. Where do you create vector SVG and does it form part of a good workflow with Adobe Edge?
    If not, what is the best method for Vector graphics, it seems Edge haas it's issues with dealing with vector?
    3. Does it support sound yet?
    4. What programming can go alongside the animations. Javascript?
    How deep can you program the animations, can you make games?
    5. If you were to recommend a rival software to Adobe Edge, what would be the best alternative?
    Is it better?
    6. If you could say 1 really bad thing about Adobe Edge, what would it be?
    7. How steep is the learning curve for someone who animates in flash?
    I welcome any answers and help you can give me, even just to answer 1 of the questions.
    Thanks and best regards,
    David
    http://www.letsdesign.co.uk

    Hi there,
      I'm not sure what page you are talking about that has 404 errors on the examples. The Edge Animate Showcase can be found in the link below which has examples of Edge Animate that all work and load perfectly fine for me:
    http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/showcase.html
      There's all different options for graphics/image formats for Edge Animate. Ultimately it's up to you and what you want to deliver for your audience, but the link below points to an article written to explain all of the different image types and what their pros/cons are, as well as talks about best practices for images in Edge Animate:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/edge-animate/kb/best-practices-graphics-edge-animat e.html?promoid=KBHBC
      There is a way to add sound in Edge Animate, however it is all dependent upon the browser's support of audio. This thread below will point you in the right direction on code examples to add sound to your file:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4736869
      The programming that Edge Animate supports is Javascript, CSS3, and HTML5. Many users have made games using Edge Animate, and you can find links to examples of these in the Edge Animate Showcase link that I posted above.
      At this time there really isn't anything quite like Edge Animate with it's tools and smooth integration into the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite. My suggestion to find rival software is to search on a search engine for HTML5 software.
      The learning curve for Edge Animate for Flash users is minimal. Coming from Flash myself, it only took a couple of days for me to pick up the interface and functionality of Edge Animate. Below is a link to the getting started tutorials on Edge Animate:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/topics.html
    I hope this helps! I know some of these answers are a little vague but my only suggestion is to try out Edge Animate for yourself and see if it's right for you. I know I fell in love with it as soon as I started using it. : )

  • What is  Adobe Edge Animator

    I am having many issues with photoshop cs6  as well as lightroom 4.2.  one PS app crash report from photoshop said ( according to the lightroom forum help)  'The dynamic link library faulted in your earlier post belongs to Adobe Edge Animator'.
    I have no idea what this is.. does it ship with cs6?

    sorry.. I guess I am too frustrated.  I have been having CS6 problems plus lightroom 4.2 problems.  CS6 has been crashing while I am working.  I am using a wacom intuos 3 tablet. New drivers have not been issued since august.
    I am trying to document errors , and am trying to deal with this.,
    computer is an i7 windows 64 bit-- 3.5GHZ- 32 gigs ram.. 7800 series ATI graphics..
    someone on the lightroom forum posted that question about 'did I have the adobe edge animator' becasue they saw that listed in an error report that I posted . I think the error reports were from lightroom, but I dont see how this can be part of photoshop or lightroom for that matter. ( unless lightrooms web module has something to do with it. ( Ive never used that)
    sooooo I am asking if that is part of CS6, which you answered.
    I dont know how to post my snagits here.
