Adobe Flash Media Server in Ubuntu
I have installed Adobe Flash Media Server in Ubuntu.
When I run the command
sudo ./fmsmgr server start
it says that Server: start command:
Server service start not found. Exiting
When I start adminserver in the same way,
the message displayed is :
Starting Adobe Flash Media Admin Server (please check /var/log/messages)
In the messages, the following is displayed :
Server starting...
Listener started ( FCSAdminIpcProtocol ) : localhost:11110/v4
Listener started ( FCSAdminAdaptor ) : 1111/v4
Server started (./conf/Server.xml).
Let me know if I am facing any issue because of the OS not being supported.
If you navigate to path where FMS is installed say /opt/adobe/fms and then run ./server restart , do you get same error?

We currently have a server that operates as a streaming media
server running Adobe Flash Media Server 2 in our organisation and I
was looking into if there are any update features from Adobe
available to automatically download and install latest security
patches etc? Does anyone have any suggestions?Nothing at the moment, it has to be done manually.

Flash Media Server 4.5 unable to start setup on OS X 10.7
When I downloaded a developer edition from Flash Media Server page (11 Oct 2011). I tried to follow the setup instruction in readme.htm which comes in the zip of Linux version.
I logged in to terminal as root user and call './installFMS' and then the terminal show me:
ERROR: Your operating system is not supported by the
Adobe Flash Media Server installer.
Does it mean Flash Media Server Developer Edition cannot work on OS X Lion (10.7)?Hi,
No, that platform is not supported, for any of the FMS versions. -
FMS4 -Set the Flash Media Server services to Run as Administrator (FMSCore not running)
Installed fms4 x64 on windows server 2008 to try it out. When i open up task manager to check processes running, FMSCore process does not runhttp://kb2.adobe.com/cps/862/cpsid_86205.htmlI found this in the knowledge base but step3 "Run this program As Administrator" checkbox is greyed out so i cannot do anything. I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice.
Even the video that's supposed to play when you click the start screen is not playingSet the Flash Media Server services to Run as Administrator
Complete the following steps for each of the following files located in the Flash Media Server root installation folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server, by default):
FMSAdmin.exe
FMSCore.exe
FMSMaster.exe
FMSEdge.exe
Right-click the file and chooseProperties.
Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users.
Select Run This Program As Administrator. Click Apply, and then click OK.
Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service.
Restart the computer.
Flash Media Server starts when the computer starts.Hi,
Thanks for using FMS4.
When you said "
I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. "
How did you make sure that the services are restarted ? Probably they have not yet started at all ? You need to have admin privileges to start/stop the FMS services. Please make sure you have the admin rights for the logged in user.
Open a command prompt as admin, and run the following commands :
net start fms
net start fmsadmin. -
FMLE not connecting to Flash Media Server
I have two laptops with windows 7 and FMLE 3.2 and FMS 4.5 in them. Laptop A is working perfectly with the default settings but i cannot connect to FMS with laptop B. I have tried turning windows firewall off, setting fmscore, fmscore and fmsmaster to run under administrator privileges.
The FMS starts correctly on laptop B (i compared the log-files on laptop a and b) and here is edge.00.log from laptop B (i censored my ip and host):

When i hit Connect button in FMLE i get the "Cannot connect to primary server" - error. When i change the FMS-Url to the ip-address of my laptop A i can connect to its FMS. The default FMS Url is rtmp://localhost/live and Stream: "mystream@38220" (this is working in laptop A).
I downloaded TCPView and compared whats happening with the laptops when i hit the Connect button. On laptop B FMLE sends bytes to FMSEdge and it responds with 1 byte and then nothing happens. On laptop A same thing happens but it opens up FMSCore and the stream starts going live.
Apparently the FMS had worked on laptop B before but then it stopped working due to reasons unknown. I tried reinstalling it with no results and now im clueless. I also tried the fmscheck and it said it cannot connect to FMS. It seems the FMSEdge is not behaving correctly or something is blocking the traffic between the programs. I tried connecting to localhost:1935 with telnet and typing something and then watching what happens in TCPView. It says that the fmsedge process listening to port 1935 establishes the connection and receives the bytes, though it closes it after few seconds probably because it doesnt understand what data i sent. And when FMLE sends 1537 bytes to fmsedge it receives them but nothing happens. -

How To Use Flash Media Server For RPG Game Development Project ?
I have a educational music video game development project (A Sea Voyage) for whcih I am thinking to use the Adobe Flash Media Server for develping the 3D Game for which I plan to also use two other key tools, blenderartist.org for 3D Creation of my ship, and use the popular game engine tool, unity.com to integrated all my game elements.
How to use the Adobe Flash Video Streaming Server Element for this RPG Type Game, internet friendly and desktop anchored ?

Streaming from Digital Rapids to Flash Media Server
Hello,
I am using a Digital Rapids StreamZ encoder (version 3.8.0) to stream towards YouTube, Dailymotion, Akamai. I wish to install a Flash server on the same VLAN as my Digital Rapids in order to check the encoding in case there is an issue on YT/DM's side. I therefore downloaded Adobe Flash Media Server and now wish to send my stream towards the AMS. Which Server URL and Stream Name should I use to configure my Digital Rapids? How should I configure the AMS to receive the stream from the DR?
Many thanks in advance for your help and advice,
mdicampThe Digital Rapids doesn't seem to recognize my destination Server URL. I guess it is because of a port issue.
Checking the ports situation on my AMS Server (cmd -> netstat -an), I realise port 1935 (which receives RTMP) is only listening locally (127.0.0.1:1935) instead of to the exterior (I would like to have 0.0.0.0:1935). The application does not seem to have forced the port to open (I don't have any firewall).
I hope this helps move anyone forward in helping me out. Thanks in advance ! -
Hello all,
I am running Flash Media Server 4.5.1 for Windows. I am using Windows 2008 R2 Server. Whenever I start my Flash Media Server, I get the following error in my Windows Event Log in the Application section.
The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> [Tue Sep 04 13:43:40 2012] [info] mod_jithttp - FMS installation path: "C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Flash Media Server 4.5\\" .
I am using the default configuration settings for HDS Live in the Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf
<IfModule jithttp_module>
<Location /hds-vod>
HttpStreamingJITPEnabled true
HttpStreamingContentPath "/flashvideo"
JitFmsDirPath ".."
Options -Indexes FollowSymlinks
</Location>
</IfModule>
I am not sure what the error is, I did see using a single quote if you are using spaces in Windows for Apache2.2 configuration and that setting did not work. I would like to use HDS Live eventually. If anyone has experience in troubleshooting this, I'd love to hear your input. Thank you.

Flash Media Server - Stream AVI
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to stream video
files to the adobe flash media server. I have been able to setup
the server and client, and been able to stream my webcam to the
server, and from the server to clients.
Is it possible to stream an AVI (or other video format) file
directly to the server? (avi--->server--->client) ?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!a friend tell me Flash Video Server is a cool tool,it is a
powerful video streaming platform which provides services of
streaming Flash videos and audios between the server side and
client side. Flash Video Server offers you easy solution to enable
your clients to play, record, and publish local Flash videos, live
videos and audios to the server and share with other users.

I only have one ip 209.239.120.100
and what should be my FMS URL
for the hekp thanks a lotWhen you say this "but if call it from media live encode to stream from outside the server just dont works" - you mean you are trying to connect to FMS machine from FMLE which is installed on different machine - Am i right? - if that's the case - please check if your firewall is open for ports 1935,80.

Flash Media Server Licensing Question
This may seem like a simple NO, but I'm interested in
building a pre-built image which will contain Linux installation
and Adobe Flash Media Server pre-configured. This setup would be in
a single image file used to run inside of VMware Server as a
Virtual Machine. By building the image, anyone who wants to test
FMS could download the image and load it into the Virtual Machine,
and not have to dedicated a full server to the installation.
If anyone can provide me a factual answer, either yes, no, or
someone to contact at Adobe I would be very appreciative.
Similar images of other programs can be found here:
http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances
Other applications images include firewalls, web servers, and wiki
servers
Thanks,
Bradford Knowlton
[email protected]
http://x86Virtualization.comNo. FMS is not an "out of the box" solution. You'll need some
experience with Flash (client side flash), but how much you'll need
to know depends on the application you plan to build.
Adobe provides a set of communication components and sample
applications, and it's fairly easy to drag and drop your way to a
simple webcam application. It won't be very flexible, and it
certainly won't be secure, but it will get you started.
You'll also need to understand how to install and configure
server software, or hire someone to do that part for you. Just so
it's said, you can't install FMS on a shared hosting account, so
you'll need your own server.
As far as learning curve goes, I suppose it depends on your
background. If you already have an understanding of actionscript
and client/server communication, then the learning curve isn't
horribly steep. If you don't have a background in Flash (client
side flash), you might want to cover some of those basics before
diving into FMS. Unlike other streaming servers, there is no
default player that just pops open on the client side when a stream
is requested (like Windows Media or Real)... you need to build the
client application (.swf) yourself. -
Flash Media Server v3.5 - fmscheck question.
Hi,
I'm running some tests on an existing application that is configured with 12 "instances." When I run fmscheck with the "--allapps" flag set, only one of the 12 instances returns "NetConnection.Connect.Success." All other instances return "NetConnection.Connect.Rejected". Is this normal operation?
Below is a copy of the command, and the output.

-bash-4.1$One of the workarounds that I have found is ... i.e try making all three FMS Windows Services (Flash Media Administration Server, Flash Media Server (FMS) and FMSHttpd) in the some domain controller account or atleast the same Administrator.
After doing so first manually stop the Flash Media Administration Server. After the Administration Server Stops Now run the Flash Media Server (FMS) which should also automatically launch the FMSHttpd Service (Apache). Once both are started then try starting the Flash media Administration Server.
To make sure that Flash Media Administration Service Always Starts LAST you can either use Manual Batch file in sequence of starting or can set up the option of 'Delayed Start' in Services Settings. -
Problem with NetConnection in Adobe AIR(Flex) using Flash Media Server.
Hi
I am creating a small chat application using Flash Media server. I have already created all my user interface components in Flex(Adobe AIR).In this application rather than sending text messages user can also send file to another user in his friend list.
problem what i am facing is, when i am sending file through FMS most of time it send successfully but for some files while sending application loss netconnection.
so i would like to know, rather than closing application what are other condition when FMS loses network connection?
Any help would be appreciated .
Thanks.Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
Stream Error.

Hope that helps.
