Adobe Reader 10.1 and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
It's been reported that the latest Adobe Reader 10.1 uses up about 100% CPU cycles and heats up a MacBook that was testing this combination. Does Adobe have plans for Lion compatibility updates for Adobe Reader and the Creative Suite applications, and Lightroom, Flash Player and Shockwave Player?
They will probably update Reader once Lion is out to public on MAS for $29.
Also, be warned, that there's a bug in Flash Player on Lion. (If you try to change any settings by right clicking, while setting popup appears, you can't click anything)
However, how Apple released Final Cut Pro X without warning, I have feeling Lion may be released without warning, which might give devs like me a huge headache. (I am Mac Developer, but I'm also a freelance graphic designer web developer, and I depenend on Flash/Dreamweaver for most of my HTML5 projects, and Dreamweaver's been buggy somewhat in Lion)

I can open pdf files in safari, however my office products work more effectively with Firefox. Currently the firefox browser shows a blank screen when I try to launch pdf file within my work program. So I would really like to be able to use firefox as the browser. Is there an update or fix that will work? Although I am currently on Adobe 10.1.4. after reading online discussions it suggests that 11.0 doesn't work either and so I hate to try another update. You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document. -

Problem opening Form based PDF via Safari browser with Adobe Reader 9.3 on MAC
Hi,
I'm mentioning below the problem that we are facing when we open a form based PDF created using a licensed version of Adobe Livecycle Designer ES (Version 8.2.1.4029.1.523496) on a MAC machine through a Safari Browser.
We tested this PDF form on a windows machine and the PDF opens in an IE browser via the latest Adobe reader 9.3 without any problem. I then received complaints by our clients that they were unable to open the same PDF on their Safari browser on a MAC machine, I tried to resolve the problem by downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3 for MAC but noticed that the Safari browser window would just keep refreshing the page without displaying the PDF at all. I then uninstalled the Adobe Reader 9.3 version and downloaded and installed an older version i.e., Abobe Reader 8.2 version for MAC and noticed that the PDF document successfully opened in the Safari browser. My question is why does a form based PDF work with an older version of Adobe Reader for MAC and not with the latest version? Our clients are not comfortable with the fact that we are refraining them from upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC and that they would have to downgrade their existing Adobe Reader 9.3 to a lower version Adobe Reader 8.2 in order for the PDF forms to work when it should be the other way around.
Is there any fix or a patch that is currently being worked on that would resolve this issue in the latest Adobe Reader for MAC? If yes then when would it be ready? This issue is quite critical for our business and would appreciate it if this would be looked into with high priority.

Sheikh Huraiz Ahmed.That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.

am trying to update adobe reader 9.4.6 to the latest version on my mac book pro. Am able to download the updtae to 10. whatever and proceed with installation. At the step where I am asked to choose the adobe reader file, I select the file and then the process stops and I get a message that installation has failed and i am to contact the software manufacturer.

You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.

That depends on your operating system and browser. On Windows, e.g. using Firefox, you right-click on the link, then select 'Save link as...'.

I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?
Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy. Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now. -
Does Adobe Reader for iOS and Android Support Encryption with PKI Solution?

I have been searching for an answer whether or not Adobe Reader for iOS and Android can read encrypted PDF files by public key infrastructure solution (encrypted by a public key, to be decrypted by its private key pair), but to date I have not found the answer. From the Adobe web site, I understand that Adobe Reader for Android supports to read encrypted document by AES256 but it does not mention about PKI. I had to guess that it does not support encryption with PKI but I would just like to get a formal answer, and would like to know whether Adobe Reader Mobile will support it.

Adobe Reader 9.2 and AIR hotfix
I'm running into an Adobe reader 9.2 and AIR compatibility problem. I developed an AIR App with
browser panel that invokes a PDF doc using Adobe Reader. When I update to the latest Adobe
Reader (9.2), I start having errors with a dialog saying errors related to the CoolType.dll.
I found this in one of the devnet articles which mentions a hotfix. Where do I get it??
I cannot find it anywhere on the Adobe site.

AIR applications that load a PDF in the broswer will no longer work with Adobe Reader 9.2.
Recommended action: This issue will be addressed in an upcoming patch release to Reader. For
enterprises which can control the deployment of Reader, a hotfix is available from Adobe Support.

Eddy.As special service for you I just downloaded and installed the Reader V9.2,
opened the Reader via activex embedde into a small GUI
and loaded via src a testfile.
Then printed the file (manual via menuitems/print icon) with some different settings.
All works fine. Did you try other manual actions, like copy to clip, rotate, ...
Maybe it is a problem with your GUI.
Try to start embedded using IE as GUI or simple try if you can print a pdf opend via IE.
IE use the same activex as you for you GUI.

Edited/commented on PDF using Adobe Reader iphone 5 and e-mailed to myself so I could review on PC laptop. I opened on laptop and although I could see the comment bubbles, I was not able to open them to see the comments.

Runtime error with Adobe Reader 9.x and IE
I'm getting a runtime error with any adobe reader 9.x and Internet Explorer whenever a .pdf is being viewed online. It will pull the .pdf up and then pop up a runtime error window and close it down completely. It is only happening with individuals that have redirected app data folders and profiles. I have all machines running Windows XP sp3 and IE8. I know, I know, I can always go to Firefox or Chrome, but IE is easily managed with group policy lockdowns. I can unintall reader 9.x and then reinstall 8.x and it works perfectly. The only problem with that is that I have to go do every machine and physically uninstall since I buildt the windows xp installer package with it. Does anyone know a workaround or if adobe is going to get it fixed pretty soon?
I am experiencing exactly the same problems on one of two identical machines after something happened in the registry.
The first problem that appered was an error 1325 "Favorites is not a valid short name".
I did find the registry key involved (%userprofile%\Favorites) and fixed it.
So now the the next one: yours.
I think the solution can be found in the list of registry keys that Adobe Reader is accessing.
btw Eusing registry cleaner did not find this key to be in error.
Problem is that the Reader does not ask for an alternative location after stumbling on the key.
Who can gnerate a list of keys accessed?
