Adobe Reader 9 Compatibility Issues

Hi,
Are there any compatibility issues faced by anyone with ActiveX or Native forms in Adobe Reader 9.0?
Please do let me know.
Regards,
Arafat

I downloaded (5 times) Adobe Reader 9. At 98.7% of the installation process, I get this error message.."The feature you are tying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
"Click OK again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "AdbRdr812_en_us.msi" in the box below.
I have no idea where this file may be, and fully expect Adobe to be able to find its own files!
Since attempting to download Reader 9. I have lost the ability to read .pdf files online, with the error message Can not launch Acrobat".
After Acrobat -says- it's installed itself, I get this error message...
"Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Reader 9 cannot be removed.
Contact your technical support group."
I am my only technical support group, and really really don't care for this rigamarole, losing "features" I had.
What is going on?

  • Adobe Reader X Issues

A user's computer with Adobe Reader X isntalled (when viewing a PDF file) gets blocked at the top and on  the left side. It appears that there are multiple toolbars at the top that are now just blank and a side bar on the left that stretches from the left side into the center of the document. The menu bar is also blank, the File, Edit, Options, do not show. I can tell something that appears to be tool bars are blocking the entire view, because if I zoom out far enough, the document will becom small enough to fit in the small viewable screen. The same view, carries over to the print preview window. If the user prints the document, it prints fine. Besides this, the computer and other programs works fine. I've un-installed Adobe Reader, re-downloaded and re-installed it, downloaded and installed the latest video driver, still having this issue. Computer is a Dell Otptiplex with Windows 7 Professional (32 Bits), 4 MB of RAM, and is updated with all Windows Updates. This user has been dealing with this for soo long, he does not remember when or how it started. The user is part of a domain that has a corporate antivirus and malware protection which I'd like to think would detect any virus if he caught any.
I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Vong

    Cyberdawg,
Try to turn off anything that enhances speeds his video through the video driver. That is most likely the problem..

  • Adobe Reader preferences issue, text stretched and zoomed in.

I have a user with Adobe Reader 11.0.2 installed and cannot change his preferences and always receives a "Screen reader" prompt when opening a PDF.  The window is stretched accross the screen and the only way to close it is Tab - Enter.  The preferences are the same way, theres no way to check the settings because the window is too zoomed in and the text is too large. I have already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, deleted all the folders and reg keys to do a clean install as well as under multiple profiles. Same issue each time.  Has anyone else seen this issue?
    Any advice would be great.

I believe I have seen this where an essential Windows font is removed.

  • Adobe Reader installation issue

The below image is the issue that I am having when trying to download Adobe Reader. I have internet connection. I have tried disabling all of my computer security in attempts to download Adobe Reader. I am running Windows 8.1 on a HP Pavilion. What could be going wrong with the installation? Also, I have tried doing the installation through Firefox, Chrome, and IE. Any ideas?

I found a solution to my error. I was able to download it through here:

  • Adobe Reader Installation Issues in Windows 8

    Hi,
I am trying to download the latest Adobe Reader release. The problem is that it keeps getting disrupted during install. I can't figure out why this is happening. Has anyone else experienced this issue while running the Windows 8 OS? I've been experiencing many issues trying to download executable setup files in Windows 8. Does anyone have a good recommendation on how I can successfully resolve this issue?
    Thank you,
    Cody

Most likely the offline installer will work better: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe reader XI Issue

Since downloading the new Adobe Reader XI it will not open. I have reloaded it multiple time. I'm running Windows 7. Since it will not open I also can not open any pdf files.

    Things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Saving in Adobe reader XI issue

    Hello,
whenever I click on SAVE, Adobe Reader behave as it was "Save as" and always opens the directory where I want to save my pdf.
This is extremely annoying since we need to save the same document while it is open very often and CTRL+S doesn't automatically save the file. In a nutshell CTRL+S and CTRL+Shift+S do the same exact thing.
Also the Autosave is bugged. Whenever the application crashes, it fails to retrieve the last autosaved document and gave us an error. We keep losing hours of work because of this (and again the CTRL+S doesn't work either to workaround the problem!!)
We tested this issue on different computers in our office.
Please let me know if there is any fix to this.
    Thanks.
    Federico

We are having the same issue.  When a document is opened from a local or shared drive and annotations are added and a the first time a user either clicks the save button on the toolbar or CTRL+S the save as dialog opens, then if save pressed a warning message pops up that the file already exists.  These extra steps greatly reduce our workflow efficiency, as we just want to add an annotation and move on.
    Version 11.0.3
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader font issue

The issue is currently with adobe reader 9 and 10. The issue is when i open a PDF on the affected PC, the font is different and some of it is really small and hard to read. Not all PDF's open up with this font only the ones received from a certain person. When i open the same PDF on any other PC with the same version of Reader it comes up with a standard font. I have found that if i copy the 'user cache' from the affected PC and replace my user cache the same font appears for about 10 secs, then adobe corrects it and goes back to the default font. Also i have tried deleting the 'user cache' on the affected PC, but it comes back with the same problem.
Any ideas how to reset the user preferences or correct this issue?
    Thanks,

I mean the user cache from ‘c:/users/username/AppData/local/adobe/acrobat/10.0'. Just the user cache, not the other files that are in there.

  • Adobe Reader Help issue

The issue happens to all adobe reader and standard versions which are version X and above, the solution available in http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-online-help-content-cannot.html helps but its very slow to get to help feature and happens to all machines in domain.
This is not a issue in customer enviroment as the same issie is seen on my company machines with Adobe X and above.

Use the forum 'Adobe Reader for Android'.

  • Adobe Reader X issues- email & saving files

Loaded program and discovered two issues. 1st when you hit the icon for e-mail, instead of opening an Outlook message a side panel opens to ask if you want to use an Adobe product for e-mail or compose a regular Outlook message. Looked for a way to stream line and have it operate like it does in Adobe Reader 9 and earlier versions, without success. Then after opening a PDF attachemnt from an e-mail the file save icon was grayed out, so I had to go to the drop down menu to save the flie. Net net, using Adobe Reader X will add time to my two most frequent tasks, so I have reverted back to Adobe 9.
If someone knows of a work around which provides the functionality of the earlier versions of Adobe Reader, I will try to sample Adobe Reader X, but for now I saw nothing in Adobe X that makes it worth the extra time to do my most common functions.

I echo the comments- it has been very frustrating to use X- I corrected the e-mail issue. Here is the much bigger issue for me, how do you set it to go back to the last place where you saved a file. I will batch items to scan and much of the time they go to the same place- in previous versions of Reader it has gone back to where I saved the last document. In X it takes numerous clicks longer to accomplish the same task. I am the only one in our office still using x and will need to go back to 9 to save time. This also seems to be the same thing in Acrobat Pro, that is why I use Reader for general tasks as opposd to Acrobat Pro.

  • Adobe reader X Issue With no response yet from Adobe.

Since installing Adobe Reader X, I am unable to open pdf's attached to emails (in Outlook 2010). On double clicking the attachment, Adobe Reader opens and I get the following message "There was an error opening this document. Access denied."
If Adobe Reader is already running when I double click the attachment, it opens OK. If I save the attachment to my HDD, it also opens OK, when I double click it (whether or not Reader is running or not).
I would very much appreciate help with this problem.
My desktop is running Windows XP 32 bit with Outlook 2010 32bit. I'm a local admin on this pc.

  • Preview vs Adobe Reader (Technical issue)

    / Disregard, Answer Found!
After installing "Adobe Reader", preview is no longer "highlighted" as an option for viewing PDF's.
I placed the reader files from the applications folder into the trash; that did not solve the problem.
What files in the applications support folder are part of the adobe reader program? Would any remaining files there prevent Preview from being an option?
Any other files in the system library preventing this?

    Hi Walt, Fruhulda,
I'm not sure I'm getting this.
The Pages file is 300 dpi.
When I 'export' and use 'best' to create a PDF, that PDF is not 300 dpi, it's 72 dpi.
So bringing it into Preview and 'saving as' a quartz filter 300 dpi isn't going to recover the lost quality.  When I try this my 14 meg file (from Pages to it's version of PDF) is reduced to 2 megs when converted BACK to 300 dpi via Preview.  The end result as far as I can tell is a really raunchy 72 dpi looking document ... and my drop shadows (a luminous blue in this case) have been partially chopped out of the picture.
There doesn't appear to be any way to 'save' anything in the ColorSync Utility.  I can 'lock' the new version.  I did notice that if I closed and opened the ColorSync, the changes (adding the 300 dpi) had actually disappeared.  So now I've 'locked' the changes; we'll see if that helps.
But there is no way to 'save' anything.  And the new Generic PDFX-3 (300dpi) doesn't appear in the Pages 'print to PDF' choices.  Now I can 'edit menu' and supposedly add new choices ... if I knew where ColorSync might be storing these quartz filters.  But I have no idea.  No general searches bring up anything.
I've been using a quartz filter I got from France, which I store in - adim / Library / PDF Services.  But there are no other .qfilter files when I do a search.

  • Adobe Reader compatibility with Chrome on MAC OS

    Hi,
Are Adobe Reader 9, 10 & 11 versions compatible with Chrome on a MAC OS?
I found below Adobe Reader tech specs where Chrome is not explicitly listed under Mac OS but again Chrome isn’t explicitly listed for Adobe Reader 9 and 10 specs for windows either but this works fine –
    http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/reader/tech-specs.html
Any pointers will be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Chrome uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • Lates Adobe Reader Update Issue

My Mozilla plug-in page says my Adobe Reader needs updated. Now I have the latest version XI 11.0.08. It does not need updated but this apparently is the Acrobat version which mine is 11.0.8.4. I don't remember having problems updating before but it is asking something new now when you go to update. It was asking for my system with a lot of choices to pick from. All I have is Windows XP so the only 2 things I saw that I figured were for me would have been Windows XP SP3 or 2 (64-bit). I know I have Windows XP SP3 installed so I picked that. Then it asks for language, picked English, then it asked for version. 2 choices, either Reader 11.0.08 English for Windows or 10.1.4 English for Windows. I knew my Adobe XI was 11.0.08 so I picked that. So when I went to install it said I already had it and finished. Still plug-in says it needs updating. Was I supposed to pick 10.1.4 English for Windows instead? They never asked these questions before. So I am at a loss. Technically I have Adobe XI 11.0.08 and this new one is called Adobe Acrobat Reader DC which can work on all devices (of which I have none). So perhaps I don't need to worry about it. I don't know. Thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who could help me. Also my Avast program says my Adobe Reader does not need updated but we're talking about the actual program, not the Acrobat part which I guess is different.
Same deal with my Java. Since I have XP the next update was for Version 8 but it said I could go ahead and install but it may not work now with XP. So I haven't bothered doing that and left it with Java 7 update 76.
Well thanks if anyone can let me know if I picked the wrong thing or not to worry about it.

    Hi FredMcD,
Thanks for the response but yeah I've gone through this before with the plug-in thingy. LOL! But what's different is it's saying Adobe Reader 11.0.8.4 is old and I have no idea what the new one is since it won't install but it's called something different. It's now Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
My Adobe Reader XI is up to date with 11.0.08 but on it too it offers the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC upgrade in a different place and when you click on it, it brings you back to the plug-in page all over again. It is something different from my Adobe Reader XI. So that's what makes this whole thing confusing. But, perhaps I shouldn't worry about it and thanks for trying to help!
