Adobe reader make unidentified network.

adobe reader always creates a unidentified network and my PC will not connect the internet when this is happening. I must un-install adobe to gain internet access. why is this happening?

Hi woqd3k,
This is news to me.
I have never seen Adobe Reader accomplishing what you have stated.
Have you tried check the behavior with a different computer?
Have you checked the network logs for possible indication of Acrobat interfering with the network?

  • Adobe Reader makes me save before viewing

I cannot just read a file. Adobe makes me save the file first, this started a couple of months ago. I want to be able to open a file through Adobe and view/print it with out saving it first

Technically speaking, you can't view any file unless it's saved first on your computer. Sometimes that's done without your knowledge or consent (as a temporary file somewhere), but it has to happen.
But it sounds like you're talking about a PDF file within a browser. Is that the case? If so, which browser?

  • Adobe Reader makes me sign-in even though the STAY SIGNED IN box is checked.

I love the idea that I can view a document on my PC and as long as I'm signed-in I can later view it on my hand held device. But even though I check the STAY SIGNED IN box, whenever I close out of the program then come back I have to re-sign-in. Why won't Adobe keep me signed in as requested?

I run Kaspersky and will have to study whether it is responsible for the problem. Under its Protection Center / Application Control there are a lot of Adobe listings and then a lot of things to look at there; many of which I do not understand. So, you may be on to something Pat; but if anyone knows specifically what I should look at in Kaspersky (or elsewhere) to determine if a specific setting is eating my Adobe cookies ... I would appreciate the guidance where to look and how to fix.

  • Adobe Reader does not see all network printers

    Hi,
Any help on below would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you
    Issue:
When printing from Adobe Reader not all network printers appear in the list of printers
All other applications (notepad, word, excel, powerpoint) see all printers and are able to print
    Tried:
Drivers: Xerox model specific drivers, universal drivers, global print drivers
    Print Processors: Xerox, winprint
    Remapped / added printers
    Uninstalled/installed printers to print servers
Print servers: Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012
    Current Environment:
    Windows 7 SP1 x64
    Windows Server 2008 R2
    Adobe:
         Version 11.0.06
         Full Verison 11.0.06.70
         AGM Version 4.28.134
         CoolType Version 5.11.135
         Core Version 11.6

         Xerox GPD PCL6 V3.3.3347.6.0
    Print Processor

I also have this problem that Adobe Reader will not print, but this only occurred for me after installation of MS Office 2010.
The proposed solution of changing default printers does not work for me!
Does anybody have a real explanation as to what causes this problem and a real solution for it?
I have already tried re-installing Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and this had no effect. I am using Windows XP with SP3.

  • Adobe Reader X/10 - continued crash problems trying to save PDFs

    Dear all,
I wonder if anyone can help me.... I have been having ongoing problems when trying to save PDF documents online while using the downloaded Adobe Reader 10 or X version. It always crashes/freezers when I press the 'save' button in the 'save as' dialogue box. I have to use end program and start all over again.
I use Windows XP (Professional, Service Pack 3) and both Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1 and IE 8 web browsers. I have followed the links suggested to prevent in future after the problem has been reported - I have unstalled and reinstalled Reader a few times now, as well as checked that I have been using the most up to date version of Reader 10 or X. Then reopened everything again thinking it's solved and then crash (ARGH!). Has anyone else had similar issues?
This is most frustrating to say the least, not withstanding the time delays affecting work outputs when the system crashes on the 'save as' dialogue box (after pressing save). I have lost faith in Adobe now ... I used to consider the free download of Reader a great asset, now it is a true annoyance and may or may not work entirely.
Any help or advice would be great, even alternative PDF software.
    Many thanks in advance
    Ruth

The response from 370H55V is correct in theory and in actual fact was very close to the solution, but the response was more cryptic than helpful. I first encountered this yesterday after upgrading users on a Terminal Server from Reader v8 to v9. My first instinct was to upgrade to v10, which I did, but the problem still existed, so I rolled back to v8 and the issue was resolved. Unfortunately however this was not a solution and it was a requirement that we upgraded to at least v9. The error was as described that in IE 8 when a PDF file was opened inside the browser(or embedded as some might say), and you press SAVE (or even sometimes print) within the adobe reader toolbar, IE would flicker and crash on the page and then recover the page, saying this page has been recovered, but no saving would happen. This would happen if protection was turned off in Adobe Reader, and if it was on (default), then pressing SAVE would just make IE freeze as previously reported.
So to understand what was happening, I ran FILEMON and REGMON by SYSINTERNALS. Regmon showed nothing of significance. Filemon showed a lot more. It was getting an access denied error on c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll. There was no reason for this however because the permissions on this file allow all users to read and execute. But then I remembered what shell32.dll does. It brings up the SAVE AS dialog box that allows you select the path of where to save the file – essentially this is calling the shell of explorer.exe.
So this is actually the cause of the crash. When Adobe Reader makes the call to the SAVE AS dialog box – CRASH!!!!! Why???
Well it’s quite simple. The default location that the SAVE AS dialog box starts in is MY Documents and this is where to start looking for the source of the error. To find out were “my documents” is for your session, open REGEDIT and go to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Look for the key: PERSONAL and in it is a REG_SZ containing the path to “my documents” for the current user. This is generally something like C:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents on Windows XP/2003 and something like C:\Users\<username>\Documents on Win7/ 2008.
Now in our case the setting for this key was U:\ which was a mapped network drive to the path: \\server\username\mydocs. U:\ did exist and the user had full permission to it. So I changed the path on the personal key to C:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents – the default setting. I went back to IE, opened a PDF document from a website, viewed the file and then pressed SAVE on the adobe toolbar. BINGO BABY!!!! Worked perfectly.
But again this was not a solution because in a network, you need your users to have their “my documents” in their own home drive, which is generally located on a remote share on a server. So I put the PERSONAL setting in the registry back to U:\ and crash back to square one. I then put the path of the U:\ in the key instead of just U: drive, so PERSONAL now had a REG_SZ value of \\server\username\mydocs. Went out to IE again, launched a PDF, pressed SAVE. BINGO BABY!! It worked. So clearly this was a UNC Path resolution issue or something similar, but why did it only happen from v9 of Adobe Reader and whose fault is it – Microsoft or Adobe. Well I suspect both. I suspect that Adobe maybe making a weak Shell call in their code which doesn’t resolve the path properly, and a possible bug in the MS Shell call may be adding to this issue.
Anyway, I did some further testing for some fun. I took permissions away from the user to their “My documents” folder and was also able to replicate the same crash. I set the PERSONAL registry key to a folder that didn’t exist and same crash. So basically if the SAVE AS shell call can’t resolve or access the path as set in the PERSONAL key the you will get this crash.
The way I solved it for the network users, was to set the registry key for PERSONAL to \\server\username\mydocs via Group Policy, also a logon script may also work. Additionally you could use Folder Redirection in Group Policy to set the path for MY Documents on a per user basis. This also was tested and work.
For non-network users check the PERSONAL key and get the path and then find that path and check permissions etc. Replace it with the default location or even point it to a path that you know exists and has full access.
As a final tip, also look at the registry Key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
And find the PERSONAL path. It will be something like %USERPROFILE%\my documents in XP/2003 and %USERPROFILE%\Documents in Win7/2008. This is the default location and if the PERSONAL KEY does not exist in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders then windows reverts back to the User Shell Folders key to get the path. It is a good idea to check that path in this area as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Patching Adobe Reader

I deployed Adobe Reader using the distributable package from Adobe's website.
I was trying to install the patch to 10.1.3 from my server that automatically downloads patches.
The patch will not install because the it checks the software against a version key in the registry and it is not the same.
Is it different because I installed from the distributable package and not from the website?
Would it hurt to change the value of that registry key after the install to make patching easier for me?
    Thanks,

I guess you used an AIP to install the earlier version of Adobe Reader on your network. If thats the case, then installing a patch over the same is not a supported worklfow as explained in the following document under the Updater Order > Windows section:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.3.pdf
You will have to Uninstall the existing Reader installation from the network users' machines and either:
        a. Deploy a new distributable package (AIP via GPO or likewise)
        b. Deploy the MSI as such and then let the normal patch update work as expected.
You can get more information about the same at:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Enterprise_Administration.pdf
If you hadnt done an AIP installation in the first place, then it may be a case of mismatching products i.e. you have a Reader MUI installation and are using the non MUI patch or vice versa.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Reader 9.2 not opening web pages in Win7 64bit

After reading all the threads on this subject, it seems that two things are obvious: Adobe has a lot of trouble with their software fixes, and secondly, the fixes seem to be different for many PC's and OS's. I have windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, and Adobe reader 9.2 is hanging when we try to open web pages with .pdf files. We are using IE8 ( even Firefox with foxit is having a heart attack ! ) I am trying to uninstall version 9.2 with no success. It gets to one part of the uninstall and then gives me a message that other programs are using Reader, and it stops the uninstall. I have tried REPAIR, it does not help. Am I to assume that Adobe AIR and Adobe.com ALSO need to be uninstalled PRIOR to attempting to uninstall Reader 9.2?
Also, I feel that the present install of 9.2 is corrupted ( hence why I am trying to reload ) because when I open the Adobe Reader icon on the desktop, the black Adobe screen opens, but after about 6 seconds the Adobe screen goes white and there is a message in the top Adobe Reader bar stating that the program is not responding. ( Obviously something is missing in the install ) MS  UAC is set to OFF, so no security blocks there.
Q1 : How do I get Adobe Reader ver 9.2 to uninstall?
Q2: Will version 9.2 of Adobe Reader work on Windows 7 64 bit presently?
Thank you in advance for any kind assistance

To uninstall Adobe Reader, make sure (using Task Manager's Processes tab) that Adobe Reader is not running.  Browser windows should also be closed.
If you still cannot proceed, try in Safe Mode, or use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
P.S. Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com are not directly related to Adobe Reader, and can be uninstalled independently.

  • How to fill out form fields in Adobe Reader

I was set a PDF, from my employer, but am unable to fill out form field, and sign it using Adobe Reader. I have an I Mac, with the latest OS, and a free version of Adobe Reader.

Make sure you have the very latest version of Reader (XI), by going here: Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions
If you still can't fill it in, maybe it doesn't actually have form fields in it. You can then use the commenting tools to add text to the file.

  • Adobe Reader XI privilege escalation

...I know, this is not really a privilege escalation in the classical way...
    Hi.
With both the current versions of Adobe Reader X and XI, standard users are able to repair adobe reader going via appwiz.cpl/control panel.
Problem is: if reader is opened, Windows needs to restart to finish repairing...problem is, even if standard users are NOT allowed to restart the computer (think of terminal servers with dozens of clients logged on), they MAY restart the server, causing real trouble. So even with GPOs in place that deny standard users the privilege to shutdown/restart the computer, buggy Adobe Reader makes it possible.
Side note: while UAC will prompt users to supply admin credentials when trying to uninstall Adobe Reader, it does not prompt when trying to repair. That's the bug.
    Tested on win8/server 2012, Server 2008 R2. Adobe Reader 11.0.3/10.1.7

    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/reader.html
You may want to check with the dev people about the shut down and how to disable it, this being a user-to-user forum, and not often frequented by development personnel. I'm sure there's a simple code change that will disable it, however, without the restart, the repair becomes useless as Reader cannot repoen until the proper reg keys and dll files are amended per the repair, but then you already know that.
There may also be a code change to enable UAC for repairs. My understanding is that an uninstall may remove shared files, and that's the parameter for Windows to prompt with UAC. but the repair only changes installed files using existing files, so Windows doesn't see that as a potential for damage.

  • Adobe reader XI closes when I open MS Word 2013

    what can I do?

    Hi Sir.olly,
There is any such link between MS office and Adobe Reader.
You may still try launch Adobe Reader, make sure all the other application including browsers are closed. Go to help menu --> click on Repair Adobe Reader installation.
If that doesn't resolve the issue try uninstall Adobe Reader using cleaner Tool : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html . Re install Reader, update and check again.

  • Problem signing in to adobe reader. Have a valid account but keeps coming up 'network error'.

Had a problem signing in to my adobe reader account for about a week now.
Use the PDF pack to convert Excel into PDF and have been using this for 6 months without any previous issues.
Just comes up with 'network error occurred while trying to sign in' but my network is working fine and no other problems with my computer or network.
I have tried unloading and reinstalling the PDF pack but makes no difference.
    Completely stuck, please help!

    Hi Sara,
    Thanks for the quick response.
I am using the latest version or Reader XI.
I can log in direct through cloud.acrobat.com so that is a way around the
issue but I still need the use of the PDF pack ideally.
If I try to log in to acrobat.com via the adobe Reader XI homepage then it
comes up with the following - "We cant seem to find the internet. Please
check your connection and try again"
I am using my home wifi connection with no problems on any other computers
    or devices.
