Adobe's Webdesign workflow

Hey there,
I'm a webdesigner, or rather a web programmer that also does some necessary design / layout. I've never been too good at design though.
In the past I was pretty fine using the Gimp and Netbeans for graphics and programming / layout.
Now that I got creative cloud for other purposes (film), I thought I might give the webdevelopment tools a try. It's day number two now, and I'm still kind of lost.
The new Edge tools looked pretty cool to me in their presentations, but while trying to use them they appear somewhat limited to me. By limited I mean there were these things that bugged me:
Point and click is nice, especially for initial layout and things like animations,  but I feel I'm not given the ability to handcode into the generated code, and thus pretty much limited to point and click.
Lack of integration / reusability. Edge Animate for example makes nice things, but produces a whole heap of code that would be a nightmare to integrate into my already existing website let alone tweak by hand. Placing .oam's in Muse create an iframe(?!).
What does reflow do? I threw up some test design, looked good in preview, and then? I have to admit I really didn't quite get this one, but it appears to be generating css only, correct? So would I have to recreate the corresponding html somewhere else?
Muse has this cool point-n-click parallax scrolling feature, but apart from that why would I want to save maybe ten minutes layouting with muse, when then later I get to spend hours on relocating, reorganizing and renaming all the files, styles, divs etc.
Dreamweaver looks like I'm never gonna touch it, and instead keep embracing netbeans
Obviously I must have missed the big picture, how things flow into each other, or maybe I just want to use it as something it is not.
What I would wish for the tools to do is let me create layout and interaction / animation, and at the end of it have some usable html + js that I can use and integrate in my cms / php scripts / template files (I like twig). Animating something with Edge animate, and then later filling it with twig would be real nice.
Now, people, can someone enlighten me?
Thanks a lot in advance!
P.S.: Of course there are also things I liked about the tools (live preview on phone rocks for example), but for shortness' sake I didn't want to mention those.

Muse is consumer level web authoring software for hobbyists and non-coders.  You could quickly build a basic web site with it, but the price you pay for all that  "ease of use" is IMO very limited features and bloated code that's hard to work with in anything but MU.
Dreamweaver is pro-level software aimed at designers/developers who already have a working knowledge of basic web theory, HTML, CSS and server-side coding.  There's not much you can't do with DW.  You're only limited by your imagination and coding skills.   If you know the basics, you can learn to use DW in a weekend.   If you don't know code, the learning curve can be quite steep.
Edge Animate is for making interactive/moving elements with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.  Think of it as a replacement for Flash objects.  The resulting project files are very easy to import into Dreamweaver CS6 or CC with the Insert > Media menus.  See screenshot.
I don't know much about Twig so I can't comment on how well it would work in DW. I can tell you that DW CC supports other pre-processors such as SASS & LESS and promises to add more later...
MU, forget about it.

  • Adobe Camera Raw workflow question #2901

Now that I have my new digital camera-dedicated rig up and running I have been using ACR and CS2 to process my backlog of Canon 30D CR2 files. I am trying to get them ready for posting on the internet. Currently I am using ACR only to tweak Exposure and White Balance, then I move the file in 16 bits/AdobeRGB to CS2 where I do noise reduction, levels, curves adjustment, saturation then resize, sharpening then convert to an 8 bit, sRGB Jpg.
I have adopted this workflow because it was similar to the one I used when my old creakin' PC required me to use DPP to do my RAW conversion (and I subsequently did PP in CS with a 16 bit TIFF)
But I notice ACR has many choices and options such as contrast, shadows, saturation, sharpness, noise reduction controls that one can perform prior to RAW conversion. I have read in the past theoretical comments that adjustments are best made to a file during RAW conversion rather than while as a jpg. Does the same apply to a 16 BiT TIFF? In the workflow above, am I working on a TIFF?
I am wondering if I am better off to make all of the adjustments in ACR window instead of the more lengthy process in CS2. Are there any advantages to doing these adjustments prior to RAW conversion? Or is it better to do PP on 16 bit files using layers?
What are the relative merits of processing the file in either ACR window or as an 16 bit file in CS2?
If it matters, I work on a PC and prefer to PP each file separately rather than in batches. But I DO use batch runs in CS2 to save time using Actions with around 10 file batches to do noise reduction and resize/convert to sRGB/save as.
As always, thanks for the time you take to help me out!!

    >"What does Pixelgenius PhotoKit Sharpener do that I can't do, perhaps with more trouble, by applying what I've read in his book? And would I have a problem trying to use it with CS3? "
I have a few observations and perhaps Jeff can comment. With images taken with a digital camera at high ISO, noise reduction may be necessary in the capture phase of sharpening. PhotoKit offers the sharpen and smooth option for this purpose. One can exert some control over the smoothing process by changing the opacity of the smoothing layer and the blend if sliders.
In his sharpening book Bruce uses Photoshop's reduce noise and despeckle filters to reduce noise (sometimes using the despeckle filter multiple times), but I don't know what filter is used in the PhotoKit smoothing operation or what parameters are used for the reduce noise filter if it is used.
If you use Bruce's book and the "roll your own" approach, you have more control over the noise reduction process and also the possibility of using a third party NR product such as the Noise Ninja plugin. Furthermore, just as an edge mask is used to restrict the sharpening to the edges, a surface mask may be used with NR to keep the smoothing away from the edges. The surface mask may be derived by inverting the edge mask used for sharpening, but Bruce says that some tweaking may give improved results.
An alternative would be to use the third party NR prior to using PK sharpener. However, you would still need to make a surface mask for optimum results, but I doubt that many users take the trouble of doing this.
In my own work with the Nikon D200 (which has rather high noise at high ISO), I find that I often get unacceptable noise and artifacts with PK Sharpener when used with high ISO images.
Also, many landscape photographers mask off areas of clear blue sky and foliage that do not need sharpening, thereby avoiding accentuation of noise secondary to sharpening in these areas.
    >Bruce gave you the recipies...he didn't give you the exact numbers to use. So, you'll have to do what he and I did...trial and error, to arrive at optimum numbers...
For output sharpening, the PK defaults seem to work quite well and the trial and effort of rolling your own is usually not worthwhile, IMHO.

  • Modern Adobe web dev workflow

Hello! I want to get back to web development, after a few years' hiatus writing network server software. The tools, supported standards, and desktop/mobile targets have all changed rather drastically. I realize there isn't going to be "One True Way", that different projects will warrant different tools, and that there are loads of tutorials available online. In fact, it's because there's so much information online that I'm coming here for advice: I'm asking for the community's help to suggest a good workflow or two for me, based on the following:
About me: My main expertise is with software development, including server-side code. I am also quite proficient with print design, good with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and support tools. However, while I've done some simple things with Dreamweaver (and GoLive before that), I have only basic Dw skills. I've hand-coded or generated the vast majority of the HTML/CSS/JavaScript, but would like to automate or simplify a lot of that.
My current needs: I'd like to be able to make moderately complex web sites (with mobile support). I'd like to avoid writing/modifying the same old routine cross-browser code for page layout, rollovers/sprites, CSS, rounded corners, navigation tabs, menus, etc. The less manual image exports and/or slicing I have to do, the better. I don't want to lose the ability to go into the code to extend or tweak what's there (meaning, the generated code doesn't have to be awesome, but needs to be at least somewhat sensibly written). Most of the time, the sites will simply be published online, and serve up dynamic content via a RESTful API. I'll probably want to give PhoneGap a try at some point, though that is a lower priority.
So, which tools (and in which order) would you suggest, given my existing knowledge and desired end result? I realize there will be a few options, but as long as you can include a few words on why your suggested workflow works well, I will be most grateful.

You should purchase the latest version of Dreamweaver, which will help you in the creation of Responsive websites. Responsive websites started coming into fashion about three years ago and will work as well on cell phones and tablets as they do on desktop browsers. PhoneGap is something you should jettison from your consideration due to that.
You write a website once, it works for all platforms. There is no need to develop a  separate mobile site.
As to reusable code, Dreamweaver supports code snippits. Need to describe something or insert rounded corners in CSS3? No problem, insert your code snippit, reuse the code you developed some time ago and you're all set.
Cranking out lots of pages: Dreamweaver makes it easy if you wish to use the Dreamweaver templates. These are HTML templates that will allow you to write your navigation, header and footer once and have that appear "automagically" on all pages you create based on that template. Changes to your navigation, footer, header and any other element you create that is not editable in the template are updated whenever you update your template.
Additionally, since you know php, you can use server-side includes to make areas of a web page universal. Downside of doing a site with server-side includes is that you must have a testing server to actually see what you're doing and that you need to flip back and forth between Dreamweaver's Live View and Live Code to see your work (alternatively, you can have a browser open and refresh that every time you save.
You should learn the general ideas involved in HTML5, even though that specification is not adopted yet. HTML5 has more semantic elements that will help you create repeatable code that allows you to handle your style sheet, as well as blast through your HTML creation much faster. I find that HTML5's biggest advantage is the semantic elements that go beyond basic <body> <head> and <html>. With HTML5 you have <section>, <article>, <header>, <footer>, <aside> and so on. When you close these elements, you don't have a generic </div> closure—you can see what you're closing.
Don't forget that, for older browsers, you'll need to insert the HTML5 Shiv in the <head> region of your website if you're using these new selectors. Please see: https://code.google.com/p/html5shiv/
When I am developing, I generally have Dreamweaver and Photoshop open at the same time, as well as two or three dissimilar browsers. I also check for compliance with the W3C Validation Tool: http://validator.w3.org/
    That should get you started.

  • How to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form

    Hi Experts,
I am working on SAP Business Workflow since last couple of years.
Now i have got a new Project where client wants to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form.
I am new to Interactive Adobe Form and Portal thing and i really dont know from where to start.
We have one central system and 2 local systems. when we do create a Material document using adobe form workflow should trigger and notification should go to group of users who can approve or reject it, once they approve it document gets created in central system and replicated to 2 local system through ALE.
In the Local system they do extend the document to different plants, again workflow triggers and notification will go to Managers inbox for the approval.
Once the final approval done data should go and store in SAP.
Now here i have couple of Questions.
    1. In SAP R3 Business workflow when i execute the workitem from the inbox i do get the application screen ( i.e. MM01 MRP View ) , what is going to happen if the same case i have with Adobe form?? is it possible or do we have to design a adobe form and we will have to map the fields with backend application??
    2. Do i have to maintained 3 separate Org Structure for 3 different system or using UWL  i can manage the show
    3. Untill final submit is not done, where the application data is going to be, is there any kind of buffer that we will have to keep it or its there with XML file??
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
Welcome to ADOBE Forms related Workflow Development. Well, here are my answers.
    1) You can go for either go for ISR based development or WD development with Adobe form. In both the cases you can achieve your requirement. Yes, you will have to design the Adobe form and bind the fields to backend.
    2) Am not clear or your System landscape to advice you in these regards.
    3) Until final Submit/Approval is done, the data can be stored in WORKFLOW CONTAINERS or XML FORM(If you go for ISR based Development).
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Forms + Workflow

    Hi all
I have a question on using Adobe Forms with Workflows. It is possible to have an Off-line Adobe form and when retrieving the information from the form, fire off a workflow in ECC6, without putting that data into any table?
    Example:
    1. Form for Vendor Master Create filled
    2. System reads form and kicks off workflow for approval.
    3. After approval completed, data in workflow container is used to create the data in SAP.
    Thanks.
    Nick

    Hi Nicholas,
agree with Mike's comments: they aren't cheap and furthermore Adobe forms are not applicable to all scenarios.
SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe as they are officially called are best suited into form scenarios where you just need to collect information (no complex UI logic like table management or dynamic actions). If you have more complex requirements on the form like calculations, report display etc. then leave it. You're better off with Web Dynpro ABAP/Java or BSP.
If however Adobe forms are a good fit UI wise, then I suggest having a look first at the ISR framework SAP delivers. I don't exactly remember, but it might even contain a standard scenario (formUIworkflow) for creating vendor master data requests.
What use the ISR brings in is that you can configure the form content characteristics (transaction QISRSCENARIO) and data passing to the to-be created notification without any coding. No custom tables thus needed, the notification acts as the data persistence object. There are also standard Web Dynpro apps delivered you can use to display the configured Adobe form.
What happens with ISR in the end is that a notification is created and a standard BUS7051-CREATED event is published. Then in your workflow you can in a background method extract the notification details and fill it anywhere you want.
If Adobe forms are not a good fit to the requirements, then creating a complete solution from scratch might be an only choice.
What we've done sometimes is that we've used the ISR notifications for persistence and created a custom BSP or Web Dynpro on top of it to act as the UI while workflow takes care of the actual process logic. There are a few ISR_* function modules you can use to programmatically create an ISR notification with, so it's not that tricky even. When compared with custom tables for data storage, you're backed up by some standard configuration options and you don't need to make your own development objects this way.
    Hope this helps?

  • How can I uninstall old versions of Adobe Illustrator?

How can I uninstall old versions of Adobe Illustrator?

This is for uninstalling CS2, but you might find it helpful. EDITED: but watch out, since I don't know if trashing any of these will remove currently needed Illustrator files, if you have a later version.
To uninstall Adobe Creative Suite in Mac OS 1 -- Double-click Activity Monitor.app in Applications/Utilities, select AHCRemind, and click Quit Process.
2 -- If you intend to install the product on a different computer, transfer the activation. (See “To transfer the product activation” on page 1.)
3 -- If you want to uninstall Adobe Acrobat, double-click the uninstaller in Applications/Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, and follow the on-screen instructions.
4 -- If you want to uninstall Version Cue 2, double-click the uninstaller in Applications/Adobe VersionCue CS2, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If the Version Cue uninstaller fails, see the alternative procecure, “To remove Version Cue manually” on page 4.
5 -- From the Applications folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash: Note: After you drag the items to the trash in steps 5-8, you must empty the trash before you can reinstall
Adobe Creative Suite 2 on the same computer. • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional • Adobe VersionCue CS2 • Adobe Bridge
    • Adobe GoLive CS2 • Adobe Illustrator CS2 • Adobe InDesign CS2 • Adobe Photoshop CS2 • AdobeHelpCenter.app
6 -- From the Utilities folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash: • Adobe Utilities • Adobe Updater.app
7 -- From the Library folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash: • Application Support/Adobe/AdobeHelpData • Application Support/Adobe/Assistance • Application Support/Adobe/StartupScripts/Workflow Automation Scripts
    • Preferences/Adobe/Workflow • Preferences/com.adobe.ActivationUtility.plist • Preferences/com.adobe.GoLive.plist • Preferences/Adobe Save For Web GL 8.0 Prefs
8 -- From the Users/[user name] folder, drag the following items, if present, to the trash: • Library/Preferences Panes/Opera Preferences
    • Library/Caches/Opera Cache
    • Documents/AdobeStockPhotos
To remove Version Cue manually (Mac OS only, not recommended)
If you’ve accidentally removed parts of the Version Cue installation manually or if the uninstaller fails, you have to remove the remaining installed Version Cue components manually.
1 -- From the Library/PreferencePanes folder, drag the Version Cue CS2.prefPane folder to the trash. 2 -- From the Library/Preferences folder, drag the com.adobe.versioncueCS2.plist file to the trash. 3 -- From the Library/StartupItems folder, drag the AdobeVersionCueCS2 folder to the trash. 4 -- From the Applications folder, drag the Adobe Version Cue CS2 folder to the trash.
5 -- From [user home]/Library/Preferences/Adobe, drag the Workflow folder to the trash. 6 -- (Optional) From the [user home]/Documents folder, drag the Version Cue folder to the trash.

  • Adobe form for leave request

    Dear experts,
There is no standard leave request form provided by SAP. We are developing an adobe form which lists the employee's quota and leaves taken earlier along with the current leave details. This form should be displayed to the approvers from the leave workflow.
When the approver clicks on the work item, the leave request form should popup. There are two technical challenges in this requirement -
    1. This requirement is similar to the standard ones for travel request and expense request - In travel request and expense request, SAP has provided standard forms and the workflow container is a standard importing parameter in these adobe forms. This container is helpful in deriving most of the content on the adobe form. However, there is no such link in case of leave request. How does the workflow information be passed to the adobe form? ( i will have to display employee details, quota, current leave, approvers list, approvers comments, etc).
    2. For leave request, the approval task is TS12300097 that has "Java Webdynpro" as visualization type. Whereas for travel and expense workflow approval tasks, the visualization type is "ABAP Webdynpro". I am assuming the "JAVA WD" will make it really tough to call the adobe form from the work item.
Any thoughts, suggestions on this requirement will be of great help.
    Thanks

    Hi Abdul
which version u r currently working on?? check in swfvisu t-code where you can find the below task
I'm not that good at technical level, but still I try to help you with my limited knowledge.Instead of trying from binding rule, try with Function Module via  BOR Object Method.  you can get that function module at the time Adobe form creation. Can't you consider that Adobe form as a attachment in the work item???

    Hello -
It is entirely possible that you have a version mis-match on the client and the server you are pointed to. The 'context' object which identifies a logged in user must be of the exact same version in the client and server software.
A trick you can use to try and identify problem you are having using the Workflow deisgner is to turn on the JavaConsole for the designer session. On windows you can do this by modifying the shortcut to start designer. Add the following parameter to the end of the path:
    "c:\wf\adobe_livecycle_workflow_7_0_designer.exe" -is:javaconsole
Note the Quotes around the path, and the parameter after the quotes.
This will open a console window along with workflow designer - any exceptions thrown will print a stack trace here (as well as any System.out lines you use in a QPac Dialog etc.) I would recommend using this option all the time as it may help diagnose issues.
In the case if mis-matched versions on the server and client you can expecct errors like "InAuthenticPrincipalException", "InvalidClassException" or SerialVersionUID mis-match.
    Hope this helps,

  • Online Adobe Form scenario

    Hello All,
I have developed an Adobe Form integrated within a Webdynrpo (for ABAP) View. This form can be launched from the portal.
Now I have been given a requirment that the form needs to be routed to 2-3 persons for approval and then submitted (or processed in SAP). The approving personnel will look at their UWL on the portal and approve/dissapprove.
I do not have much hands on experience on the Online Adobe forms with workflow scenario as above. I am looking at solutions such as ISR or Guided procedures. Guided procedure seems to be working only with WDN Java not ABAP. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I will really appreciate it if anyone can advise as to how I need to proceed here.
    Thanks in advance, Liz

    Hello,
I have no experience with GP (and don´t know anybody who has, if you would choose the technology and be able to create a thing using it, I would really appreciate if you could share your sources and describe the solution fur us here). And I think that is for WD Java (or designed from NWDI, or something like that).
For a start with GP I have found this:
I have no experience with ISR either. But (correct me if I am wrong) I think that is a little old framework, which is now replaced (i hope it is) by HCM PF. I would love to learn that, but have never found neither time nor a colleague to start.
I remember I have found some useful things about HCM PF here:
