Advanced Layout Designer  Add-on _ Error

Dear All,
We have been using ALD Add-On through terminal servers(All Users) for printing most of our documents in 2005-A.
ALD Version is  : 6.80.01.75
Now when we log in SAP B1 ALD (Gives an error message " Cannot Start Add-On"  in terminal server to all users.
The same ALD Version is working in Main SAP Business One and External server.
We did each of the following in terminal server still problem is occurring.
1) We have deleted the files in the temp folder.
2) We have unregistered the ALD Add-on through terminal server and logged off SAP B1 and then re registered the ALD Add-on through the terminal server. But it is working in main and external server but not in terminal server.(The error message i get it : "Cannot Start Add-On" )
3) We have also copied the ALD Set up files together with ARD and related files from the main server. Un registered the ALD through terminal server logged of from SAP B1. ALD Set up files re processed in terminal server. Again we have registered the ALD through terminal server. But it is working in main and external server but not in terminal server.(The error message i get it : "Cannot Start Add-On" )
4) I also did the steps given in SAP Notes : 859867 dated on 17 April 2009.
Please help me in this regard to solve this issue.

  • How to copy Advanced Layout Designer report to another company?

    Hi all,
With copy express i cant copy any report that is done with the advanced layout designer (i think in copy express only appear SAP BO standard things). Exist any way to pass those reports to other company? In advance layout designer i cant save the report in a directory that i choose (only appear 'save' and not 'save as').
Where SAP save those reports,in what directory of server?
    Thank you, regards.

    Hi Aitor
You can export your layouts from SBO - Administration>Add-ons>ALD>Export Layouts. That will bring up a window where you can select the folder where you want to export to. All layouts will be exported. You can delete the layouts you don't want to import into the new company. From within the new company - Administration>Add-ons>ALD>Import Layouts.

  • Where to download the Advanced Layout Designer (ALD)?

    Hi everyone,
I've read a lot about the Advanced Layout Designer, and would like to try using it rather than the PLD I've been using. However, I've searched and searched but see no mention of where to download this add-on. Could someone please provide me with the link? We are on SBO 2007A, SP:00, PL:42.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi
Please note the server 'websmp204' may not work all the time as everytime you connect to SAP page you are direct to one of SAP server.
I do recommend to use the generic path:
    https://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/ald
Anyway to download the ALD or any SAP B1 patches you can go direct to 'Software Distribution Center' -> choose update -> the version you want and you will find the ALD.

  • ALD API and ALD (Advanced Layout Designer) as a reporting tool for AddOns

    Dear all,
as per SMP "ISVs and VARs can integrate combit's List & Label functionality into any SAP Business One Add-on without additional combit license fees", so am i right it means that LnL (ALD) has an API which allows to manipulate it right from SBO AddOn?
and yes, according to the combit site (e.g., http://www.combit.net/en/page1077.aspx?action=display&articleid=KBTE000662) this really has API.
    so the questions are:
    1. does anybody has any expierence with ALD as a reporting tool for the SBO AddOns (ALD API expierence)?
    2. does anybody has any samples (how to call ALD API from AddOn)?
    3. are there any elearning materials at the SMP regarding ALD API usage from the AddOns?
    4. is ALD API available for the SAP 2005 SP01 as well as SAP 2007 versions?
please comment on this with your point of views and some attitude
    thank you and kind regards,
    A.

    Hi Alexey,
I've got ALD running at sites (2005A SP1).
    1) ALD is certainly more powerful than PLD in terms of presentation and formulas. The only limitation I came across was that you can only have 1 data table in a report (unlike other report writers like Crystal or Reporting Services). Also, working with special lines and serial/batch data in marketing documents is overly complex in my opinion.
    2) There were some samples attached to SAP Notes. I'm afraid my samples would be useless because you'd have to have the same UDFs and my reports are quite site specific.
    3) I've never seen ALD learning material from SAP but there was a decent enough manual that came with the addon.
    4) Not sure. I think you'll need to ask Combit directly.
    Pros:
    a) I particularly like the sound of the API although I haven't had a chance to look at it yet
    b) Some nice built in features like labels and the ability to create layouts for user queries (...PLD is capable of doing this, just not very well )
    c) Software is part of 2007A (ie no additional license fee)
    d) Integrated with SBO
    Cons:
    a) The integration is not perfect (eg if you use the SBO Mailer then report attachments still use the PLD layout and not ALD).
    b) A bit buggy at times (although this was on an early 2005A version)
    c) Formulas use a C++ type syntax which can be confusing for those not used to it though there is a formula builder to help out.
    d) No reports built in. SAP/Combit should be considering having all marketing documents and maybe some other key reports built in as standard.
All things considered, ALD is worth looking at if PLD is not up to the job.
    Hope that helps,
    Owen

  • Advanced Layout Designer

    Hi,
We're trying to use the ADL as an alternative reporting tool, but we're facing some problems.
    Maybe someone has an idea.
    <b>Lookup Descriptions from other tables</b>
I created an AR Invoice and would like to display the Sales Employee Name. The document  only contains the Sales Employee Code.
Is there any way to lookup the name from other tables (e.g. OSLP) in the ADL?
The table is not available as an object in the ADL.
    <b>Processing Time for Print/Preview</b>
When pressing the preview button, the ADL collects objects (tables, columns) related to the selected document.
It takes up to 20 seconds before the document is printed or previewed.
Is there a way to speed-up this process?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
      Gerold

    Hi Gerold,
I have only spent a small amount of time re-creating a PLD layout with the ALD and have also come across the issues you mention. I do remember reading somewhere on the SMB Portal that the ALD does not "yet" support all the fields that are available in the PLD (e.g. Sales Employee Name, Payment Terms Group Name...) - I haven't found a way around this as it doesn't seem possible to reference these SAP tables. The ALD also takes 20+secs to preview a doc for me. It also seems we have to use the same layout to print both item and service type documents? (The alternative of having separate layouts that the user would have to switch between is impractical.)
    Regards,
    Andrew.

  • Item Labels using Advanced Layout Designer

    Hello,
I would like to print item labels using the ADL. What I would like to do is print labels using the std avery templates. I want to be able to select which items to print and also select the quantity of labels. The template I want to use will have more than one column going across.
I am happy to base this on a query or any other method possible!
Ideally, when running the report I would select:
    - one or more item codes
    - quantity of labels
which would then print all the labels for all the codes in one report using the avery template.
If anyone could give me some assistance in this regard i would be most grateful.
    Many Thanks!
    Russell Chesler

    Hi Russell
I've the same problem as you, but by SAP that's Impossible,
I use a external Software, to do this. The beter is Nice Label because it will connect to SAP Database, and you will make yours queries to get the information as it..

  • Add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report

Is it possible to add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report? For example, in the Production Order there is a Sales Order field (which is displayed on the report), I would like to display some information from UDFs found on the Sales Order, but when I add a Database Field to the report the Sales Order tables does not appear in the list (OWOR).

    Hi
It is possible provided there is a relationship which exists between two tables.
You can add a Database field. Goto the Properties and selct Content Tab.
Now in the Table dropdown, hold the Alt Key and click. This displays all the tables in B1. After selecting the Table, you can select the related Column.
Remember there should be a relationship which exists between this column and existing columns.
Because PLD works completely on Joins to my understanding

  • Print Layout Designer or Crystal.....! What to do?

    Dear All,
We need to link our User forms to Print layouts in order to make our reports work exactly the way SAP reports work. Is there a way to enable the print and print preview toolbar buttons and make them show our Report Layout? So far the response from SDK Forum is not encouraging and many questions regarding the same issue remain unanswered there.
After looking for the solution in the SDK Forums we came across these two replies from Mr. Nick He and Mr.Frank Moebius. Both are of the opinion that currently SAP does not offer a support for this feature and better use a third party tool. We are not in a position right now to opt for any third party tool but if we get a clear response from your side regarding this matter, we can go for it. Kindly have a look at the following links:
Re: Print Layout  Design for user form in SapBusinessOne2005A(6.80.317) sp:01.?
Re: Add PLD Layouts in 2005 through sdk
The recommended solution within SAP B1 to develop Add-on reports is through User Queries and creating a Print Layout and run them via Query Manager Window. This approach in our view has the following drawbacks that make it less friendly with the end user:
    1. Add-on forms appear in the left pane/menu, whereas reports would have to run through Query Manager only, which is in fact a small toolbar button on the top right side. We can add the Query Manager link to user menu but it doesn’t solve the problem.
    2. A user with full authorization over the Print Layout can accidentally overwrite it by clicking the Create Report Button, whereas in case of SAP Reports the Layouts remain unchanged and only saved as a new Layout and set as Default Layout for a report. Add-on Reports cannot do this.
    3. Different behavior of Layouts in Query Manager on Single Click and Double Click. In the Query Manager, if a user just selects a query by a Single Click and views a Print Preview (Layout) then the custom user Layout appears. But if a user Double clicks a query then the Query Window appears, exposing the query and making it editable. Also the Preview(Layout) is different in this case. The user can either view the Window or Table Layout in this case. Hence this exercise would make the user confused and prone to errors.
    4. The Parameter/Criteria window that is SAP generated is not enough to fulfill user friendly interface requirements. Is there a way to add List boxes or Combos to that form. The parameter selection Checkboxes also behave in a strange way that even the experts find difficult to manipulate. If they are of no use, what’s the point in having them on the form in the first place.
All these points are leading us to confusion over the decision as to whether go for Query Based Reports or use Third Party tools. Kindly help us out in this regard. Your response would help us save some valuable time for our Add-on Development.

<<< If there is a solution then it has to be from SDK. We can only opt for third party components and frameworks only if any of the SAP representatives ensure us that the current version of SDK does not offer such support.>>>
The answer to that is to lodge your query as an Issue to SAP directly as a support question or go through your local SAP representative. If the functionality is not offered by SAP you can do a Development Request ( DRQ) and SAP will develop it if they think it will become userful.
<<<If this Forum is not meant to be answered by SAP representatives then kindly tell me any other Technical Support Portal from where i can get the answer directly. >>>
This forum is accessed mostly by SAP Business One Developers on SDK. However we are fortunate that some SAP employees who are very knowledgeble take some time off to answer queries.
Since it is a Forum, no one is obliged to answer. As indicated above , Try SAP directly if you need a definite answer.
    <<<>>>
Since you mentioned Crystal: We as SAP Business One SDK developers, have come across similar issues and opted for a Inhouse developed Crystal Solution. It has been so popular we are selling it as a Generic add-on to B1.

  • FORM LAYOUT DESIGNING

    Hi,
Can anyone suggest me the approach to go for FORM LAYOUT DESIGNING in ISU? As i need to convert existing client Letters into ISU Forms(proabably smart forms).
Secondly, if a client is having different body type (of letters) but same variable data, can we manage that in ISU? IF yes, then what care do we need to take before going for form layout design regarding different bodies of letters. How do we manage different body types of letter(with similar variable data) in ISU.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gaurav

    Gaurav,
Can anyone suggest me the approach to go for FORM LAYOUT DESIGNING in ISU? As i need to convert existing client Letters into ISU Forms(proabably smart forms).
You need to identify 3 things:
    1. Does SAP has standard app form vis-a-vis legacy form??
    2. If 'YES', identify it all any addl fields are needed...add them
         as required..make it a 'Z' form.
    3. If 'NO', go for a 'Z form.
Secondly, if a client is having different body type (of letters) but same variable data, can we manage that in ISU? IF yes, then what care do we need to take before going for form layout design regarding different bodies of letters. How do we manage different body types of letter(with similar variable data) in ISU.
I hope above answers this Q too...addl things you need to remember is uploading logos using SE78.
    Hope this helps
