Hi everyone, and welcome to the HP community forum.
This area is all about users of technology helping each other. The people reading and answering your posts need help in getting you the best answer. Please read this message for insight into how to write your question. 
When posting requests for help, please be as specific as possible about the issue, rather than saying "it doesn't work", give info on any error messages,etc. Also give as much info as possible about your machine, such as full model number, OS you are running, etc.
It will help us help you if you list your computer information, the steps to duplicate the problem and what you have already tried.
We also like to know about your level of experience with computers.
Following are tips to get the best responses in the forum:
Search before posting  Use the "Search" box to see if someone has already asked and answered your question.
Post a public question, not a Private Mail(PM)   While there are some experts on the site, it is preferred that you post a message to the forum, rather than sending a PM to a particular person. Those folks that are hear love to help others, but find their time most valuable if they get to answer a question that multiple people can see the answer to.
Write good titles  Put a short problem description as well as your model in the title.
Post in the correct area  Make sure your question goes into the correct forum. A problem with a printer should go in the printing area, not the computer area you are using it with.
Provide details  Be sure to give relevant information including:
Problem Description
Printer Model, Notebook or Desktop Model Number. For help finding your model number, please try this site: Locating and Using the Product Number and Model Number
Operating System  (including service pack revision)
Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless?
Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns.
Hardware or software changes from default.
Recent hardware or software changes made to the system. Did you just do something that is causing the problem.
Watch for Feedback   Subscribe to email updates for your question and/or check your question frequently for responses.  Answer promptly any requests for additional information.
 Say "Thanks".  When you get an answer to your problem acknowledge the solution.  If the answer is helpful mark it with "Kudos" by clicking on the kudos button.   
Mark it "Solved" If your problem is solved mark it.  This will help others with similar issues find the solution.
For those who come to the forum on a regular basis, it is recommended that you add a signature file.
How do I create a signature for my posts?
Your signature is text that appears at the bottom of every message you post to the boards.
To create a signature for your posts:
Click the My Profile link.
Click on the Personal Profile tab.
On the Personal Profile tab, fill in the text you want for you signature in the Signature field.
If the administrator allows it, you'll be able to use HTML in your signature. If not, you won't.
Click Save Changes

ok then...
I have a tx2z 64 bit running @ 2.1 ghz with a 250 gig hard drive (wait...i only have 60 gig to use because HP filled up the rest). My problems are:
1) can't use touchscreen or pen becuase once i do i lose total control of mouse and it jumps all over the place.
2) screen saver works today, but won't tomorrow, but will work the next day?
3) windows journal won't send anything via outlook. only windows mail (which i don't know how & won't use, why do you install such inferior programs on these?)

    I remember when Adobe Customer Support existed.  Weren't those the good ole days.  Now they've pawned us off on one another.  Apparently this is what we can expect from Adobe from this point forward.

    Well, people are always complaining that their exported movies are not of high quality, but mine look great, and I only export at 720p. The orginal is shot at 1080 30p. Here are some examples.

    What a horrible thing to say. Just because you are inconvenienced, people shouldn't ask questions? What if they can't get it to display on a tv? What if they aren't sure if their PC is 1.1 or 2.0 USB? What would they benefit by using the 5R's? A lot of people are getting ipods and a lot of people need help. Telling them to reset it as a blanket statement is, quite frankly, one of the single most irresponsible pieces of advice I have heard yet. Just because you have read it 87 times doesn't mean that person has. How about teaching them how to use the search function? Hopefully, you'll take the time to learn that not everyone is as blessed as you in the ipod knowledge department. If it is bothering you so much that you are seeing the same posts over and over again, here's a suggestion- quit reading the forums for a few days. Better yet- use the 5R's. That might help with the problem you are having.

    DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...
    for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (29$) + Streamclip (free)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast 6/7 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
    * connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
    none of these apps override copyprotection mechanisms as on commercial dvds...

  • Advice for getting the Geniuses to believe you

    I've been having RAM issues with my MBP (see thread here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4484724) and have narrowed it down to a physical issue with the chassis/logic board/RAM module, a loose connection or arcing or something existing somewhere in that mix.
    Whenever the laptop is lifted from the bottom with the weight being supported in the middle (where the RAM module is), boom, freezes and beeps. Whenever it's lifted from its sides, nothing. Same thing while it's on the lap.
    Question is: How do I convince folks at the Genius bar to believe me in order to get a repair rolling? I'm thinking that repeating the above to them will be met with a bit of hesitation / "uh-huh, sure guy" kind of reaction.
    Any geniuses out there care to chime in?

    Side note that may have a bearing.
    These modern high-density SoDIMM modules have exceedingly small and narrow tolerance contacts prone to issues. When I upgraded to my latest 16GB Corsair sticks (2x8GB), turns out that a minute tuft of lint had adhered to a bit of adhesive that oozed from under the label stuck onto the RAM socket holder. Didn't notice it when I stuck the topmost stick on and closed the Mac. Well, it did not work. Refused to recognize the module.
    Only until I reopened the Mac, removed the module and thoroughly cleaned the place, removing all the offending lint, did everything work as expected.

  • HT5868 Update software for the Mac and now my phone keeps asking the Trust Computer question.  I tap trust and nothing.  It asks me repeatedly

    My phone will not allow me to connect to my computer.  It asks me repeatedly if I "trust" the computer and I tap trust each time; and nothing.  I did upgrade the computer to Snow Leopard yesterday and was able to connect the Ipad mini, but not the phone.

    I finally was able to solve my problem. I'm not sure why it happened but after updating my iPad to the most recent iOS, it works just fine. I had iOS 8 before, but it was the first release, not the update. I have the latest iTunes on my computer so maybe they weren't compatible. Anyway, if anyone else is having this problem, make sure everything is up to date.

    If you haven't already done so then you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show on previous versions via option-ocommand-S on a Mac. To copy purchases you can do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
