After Effects Saving to CS6 from CC14

I am a student and at home use AE CC14 .......but when I go to class they use AE CS6 ....I cant convert from CC14 to CS6 ....so is it possible for me to use the cloud to download CC12 or CS6. This is really frustrating I spent days doing work at home only to find out I cant use it at my course . And my projects all have to be done in After Effects. Can anyone please recommend a solution please

Sense the ability to save to a previous version has been available you can only go back one version so your assumption is correct. To go from CC14 to CS6 you need to have CC installed on your machine.
There are many threads on this exact subject with full instructions on this forum.

Unistall any ACR Betas on your system you may have used. Also simply run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and reinstall everything Adobe.

Saving back to After Effects CS6 from CC14?

I'm a student and I'm using a trial version of After Effects CC. On the computers at school, we use aftereffects CS6, and I need to turn in my .aep files on those computers, which will not open the CC aftereffects files. Is there any way to save back from after effects CC to after effects CS6?

Upgrading from After Effects CS5 to CS6

I am creating a new post for this since my previous post on Design Premium was "Answered" yeaterday.
I went ahead and purchased the Creative Suite Design Premium 5.5 Upgrade today which apparently includes a FREE upgrade to CS6 Web & Design Premium Package following its release (i.e. if you pay for the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.5 before May 6th you get a FREE Upgrade to CS6).
Unfortunately Design Premium Suite of products does not include AE so I have always had to purchase that upgrade separately. Am I correct that there is no such similar upgrade incentive for a single product like After Effects CS5 as is being offered on the Design Premium Suite right now?
Regarding my After Effects "standalone" copy, from what I can tell, my upgrade cost to CS6 would be the same as if I had never upgraded to CS5 (i.e. the upgrade price to CS 6 from CS3 or CS4 is the same as upgrading from CS5) - about $350, but if I upgraded to AE_CS5.5 then the jump to CS6 would be about $175, but if I upgrade "now" to AECS5.5, it would be $179 + another $175 when AECS6 comes out - is that right? $179 seems like a fair upgrade price from AE_CS5 to AE_CS6, but $350 is pretty steep for just one product - especially since 5.5 was not a full incremental jump?
Am I missing something? From where I am right now, my only path from AE_CS5 to AE-CS6 is about $350? (i.e. about the same price as being forced into the entire Cloud Subscription the first year?). Also, about the same as what I paid today to get ALL my other CS5 Apps upgraded to CS6 in total.

You have to use After Effects CC to save as CS6.
If they're saved as CC 2014, you have to open it in CC 2014, Save as CC, open it in CC, save as CS6.

After Effects Unresponsive. Project from Mac to PC

Hey guys..
I've been using the Element 3d plugin quite a bit lately, but it wasn't running correctly on my system because I was using a custom built "hackintosh" (an error with the video driver, or lack thereof). So I decided to give Windows a try. I installed everything and got element running on a trial of After Effects, and the problem I had with textures not repeating resolved itself! So far so good.
I am working on a AE project in OS X and decided to bring it over to Windows. I did this (After Gathering all my files into a single folder) , but when I opened the file (it didn't ask me to convert or anything), the AE comp window wouldn't load the image, and AE went unresponsive.
I tried importing the project into another project, and it would allow me to click on comps in the assets manager, but as soon as I open it, AE goes unresponsive. Likewise, if I wait a certain period of time without clicking into a comp, AE goes unresponsive. I'm able to open footage and use my plugins in a new AE project with no problem, so i'm not sure what it is about this project that is crashing AE.

It was definitely an Element issue.. something about it didn't like the fact that it was transferred over from OSX. I (think I) solved the problem by removing the Element plugin from the folder, which then allowed me to go into the offending composition and reset the plugin.
Luckily I was using a preset from Gray Machine to animate a null for the objects position and rotation in Element, so I didn't loose this data and was able to easily rebuild the object.

Can't Install After Effects CC or CS6 in New Macbook Pro 15inch

Please, urgent help required. After Effects is not starting. Its installing, then saying this current version of After Effects v.12 is not compatible with my OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks. no problem with any other software. Its the first time ever something like this has happened.
I had installed CS6 previously, and same result. Not compatible. So i deleted it. But on the Creative Cloud App, it still shows !!
Please help.

I'm running CS6 and CC on a MacBookPro R and have been from day one. What problems are you having? What is the exact error message? What other apps have you installed? Have you read any of the dozens of other threads on install problems available on this forum and others?
By the way, you should never just DELETE an Adobe App, they have uninstallers. You must now download the Adobe Cleaner tool (just Google it) and clean your machine, then try again.
Also, you must have the right CUDA version installed for AE to take advantage of Ray-traced rendering. Not having Cuda installed will not prevent AE from running but you will get a warning.

After Effects saving as .GIF

Hey guys! I just downloaded After Effects after I saw some cool tutorials, and I made a cool project for my website. But, the thing is, I'm having some technical issues. I need that project to be saved as .GIF, and the animation must repeat only once, not infinitely as other .GIF do. I can transform any movie to a .GIF that repeats only once using Camtasia Studio, but here's the problem, what movie extension can keep the transparency I want on my .GIF borders? I don't want a .GIF with black corners. If I save it as a PNG Sequence, I can't set the time I want between frames in Camtasia Studio. I know it's hard to understand cuz I suck at explaining stuff. Can you help me please? I don't have any idea what to do. After Effects can't save it as .GIF.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

After Effects CS4 project issues from English to French

Hi All,
So to give a quick summary of what our issue is, when a french AE designer (Using French AE) opened the project we had created in the UK (on English AE) he was getting errors mentioning that the xyz position preset was unavailable. After spending a lot of time on the support line to Adobe they told me that the issue is basically that the x, y, z position preset which is part of the animation we created apparently DOES NOT translate across from English language After Effects over to French language After Effects (not entirely sure why, might be that this is code based and that the French code and English codes aren't the same). Adobes only suggestion was for the french people to download a trial of the English language version of After Effects CS5 and make the amends and export using that.
Now being a stubborn so and so, I wondered what might be the cause, I'm guessing that the expression code is language specific, which led me to wonder whther it could literally be translated? So in english the expression is:
value + [effect("Separate XYZ Position")("X Position"), effect("Separate XYZ Position")("Y Position"), effect("Separate XYZ Position")("Z Position")]
Does anyone have French AE installed that could give us a clue to what the equivelent french expressions would be?

You should not need to take care of anything else. The internal references, functions and variable names are always English. Only the UI-centric stuff will change, that is the effect name and its control parameter, i.e. ("Slider") will become ("Curseur") in French. You could also avoid this by simply using the control index value instead of the control parameter, so ("Slider") would simply be (1), as it's the only control element. now that I think of it, just yesterday I saw an internationalizer script at AEScripts com that might be of use to you, too. If you have something odd, simply post the code and I'll have a look (or our resident Frenchmen here on this forum, Sébastien Perrier) .

I've downloaded after effects from the cloud and it keeps failing to install. I'm running new mavericks os?

Be sure that you are signed in and have activated the software—i.e., ensure that you are not running After Effects in free trial mode. The update will not work if you are running the application in trial mode. Sign in to Creative Cloud using any Adobe Creative Cloud application on your computer to activate all Adobe Creative Cloud applications on that computer.
Tip: If you’re not using a trial version, but you’re seeing the message that the update is not applicable, try one of these tips to force the application to be recognized as activated: Sign out of and then back in to Creative Cloud to refresh the activation state. Also, launching the After Effects render engine (not the full After Effects application) can refresh the activation; the render engine doesn’t have the crashing problem that the full unpatched application does. Finally, if neither of these works, uninstalling and then re-installing After Effects CC (12.0) can help.

do everyone have a idea to make many films automaticly from an folder with many article-pictures and a text from php databank?!
for example,
i have many hundreds article and article-pictures and i would have for youtube for everyone of the article a single film in form of a diashow.
one film have i build with after effects, but how can i now change the pictures and text automaticly to make films
for the other articles?!

You can write a script or search for one that automates slideshows from an image foler. You can also write a script or search for one that turns comma delimited text files into text layers. I use a script to create lower 1/3's .
You can't directly go from a PHP page to text or image layers in After Effects, but you can go, very easily with the right script, from a file folder full of stills to and a text file with your copy to an animated slide show with titles. I'm not sure that it would be any more interesting than a slideshow made with iPhoto or any of the web based or Windows versions of auto slide show creation tools.

After Effects stopped reading audio from .mts files

So a long time ago I used to work fine with .mts files. but the other day I shot some footage with a Canon vixia HF S100 camera and when I imported it to After Effects CS6 it doesnt import it with the audio, only video. I checked out the levels and does not appear anything. Also in the top left corner when you select an imported footage it kinda tells you the description of it and it doesn't say anything about audio.
(doesn't happen with other kind of files though, everything else plays audio and video normally)
any idea what could have happened?

Either you changed the recording settings on the camera or, which is more likely, you screwed up the CoDecs on your system or something with your audio hardware. Uninstall any CoDec packs, reinstall AE, check your audio prefs in AE and on the system...

What version of Adobe After Effects do you have?
Whatever the case, I have not found any Adobe After Effects documentation that include a Premiere Elements project.prel file as a supported import choice.
I suspect that you are going to have to export your Premiere Elements Timeline as a .mp4 file with a After Effects supported compression into After Effects.
But, I would ask in the Adobe After Effects Forum just to double check.
