After the change of the SIM card in the settings imessage and facetime changed phone number. How do I return the previous numbers?
Put the sim card into your iphone from my mother's ipad to use the iPhone as a modem. Then did it the way it was before. After some time noticed that my wife on her iphone imessage does not come with a phone number, and from my email. While setting up my iphone to install the phone number of the SIM card ipad, you can not change the phone number of my sim card. At the same time, the phone settings - in the "Contact" - my number is registered correctly.
Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at. If your iPhone number appears in there, select it as your contact address, if it isn't in there, you will have to link the nimumber to messages.
Read the last part of this kb article. That section pertains to iOS devices.

In the new IOS 7, my IMessage and FaceTime won't let me log in using the correct Apple ID and password. How can I fix this?
Other users have reported same problem with 4G iPod/iOS 6.1.6 and I have not seen a solution. One user reported yesterday or the day before that it just started working again.

Can't sign in to iMessage and Facetime with my Apple ID, only one or the other
I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.2 on AT&T.
I've noticed I am unable to use my Apple ID for both Facetime and iMessage; if I am signed in to one of them, I'm unable to sign in to the other. I get in a loop of the phone repeatedly popping up a password entry screen for the Apple ID.
If I cancel the process and sign out of either, I can successfully sign in to the other. But no matter which I sign into first, I cannot sign in to both at the same time. >__< It's working fine on my other iDevices (iPad 1, iPhone 4), this is the only one having the issue. The issue has been happening since my purchase of the iPhone 5 last year.
Any ideas on a fix? It's driving me nuts. I've even just restored my phone and still receiving the exact same issue. Thanks in advance for any help as I am at a loss. ;(I THINK I might have found out a fix. First, I went in and signed into iMessages, but left Facetime logged out. I then went in Settings and turned off FaceTime altoghter. Afterwards I went to ensure iMessages was still signed in (Paranoia perhaps lol). Then I went back in and re-enabled FaceTime. The information was inserted back in, but Caller ID for Facetime was unchecked, so I selected my email address instead of phone. And both have oddly been working fine and stayed signed in since. No password requests at all.
I have zero clue why this works, but it does. I only figured it out thanks to obcessive behavoir and inablilty to accept it was broken lol. Anyone else with the issue want to confirm if it works for them as well? -

You can sync as many ipods/iphones as you like to one library/computer/account.
open itunes
plug in one device
choose the apps to sync from the apps tab
sync
unplug device
Do the same for the other device(s). -
One of my contacts no longer has an icon for texting. It show the phone icon and his number is still present. I can still send and receive texts from this person but what happened to the "balloon" icon?
Can you delete the contact, reset your phone and then re add the contact again?

Turn iMessage and FaceTime off, reset the device by holding both buttons until the apple logo appear then let go and wait for it to restart. Then turn iMessage and FaceTime back on and enter the settings again

Imessage and Facetime activation woes after ID change.
Hi all,
I had to change my Apple ID due to an email change. I then started the process of changing my Apple ID on my iPad 3 and my iPhone 3Gs.
iCloud is working fine and so is the app store (I can install new apps and update old apps). The problem comes with iMessage and Facetime. Whilst I have managed to input the new ID and password (using the 'put in the wrong password until it asks for the ID again' method) it will not verify or activate.
Once I have entered the new username and password on the Enter Apple ID page, I hit 'Sign In'; this then takes me to a page saying 'People will message you using your email address. What email address would you like to use?' Sometimes it then goes back to the Sign In page without any action from me and other times I get to hit 'Next' (the address is already filled in with my email which is the same as my Apple ID). It then goes through the verification process which fails, saying 'Unable to verify addres. An email with verification link has been sent to the above email address'.
The email address is verified if I check my Apple ID online and no email ever appears in my email; I have checked the Spam etc.
I have tried doing a 'Reset All' and also a 'Reset Network Settings' (although I have no network problems).
This problem occurs in the same way on both my iPhone and my iPad which makes me think it is an account problem and not a device problem. Do I need to go through the registration process with both devices using the new Apple ID or could there be another problem?
I have searched the forums but can't find exactly this problem being solved elsewhere.

I was referring to a similar suggestion made by ManSinha where he said:
"Log out of iCloud
Reset the phone
Then Log back into iCloud
Then reactivate iMessage and FaceTime"
Also followed the steps suggested in the Apple support papers you mentioned, but things are still the same.
I think I'll have to wait for my next trip to USA or Europe where I can visit an Apple store and work out things there.
As a matter of fact, I'm about to receive my new iPhone 6 in these days (brought by a friend of mine from USA), and hopefully I'll be having my services back, but I'm still worried by this iPhone 5s issue because I'm passing it to my son. -
I just came over from Sprint 4 days ago and had my number ported over. When I send a text to another number, it shows up on the other phone as coming from email address and not my phone number. For example, if the recipient of the text has me in the contacts as "Tom", the text comes to them displaying my email address instead of "Tom".

Welcome to our family. We want you to be able to enjoy all the services we provide and we definitely need to address this. Do you receive/make calls without problems? Are you able to receive messages with your contacts' number? Are you using iMessages? If so, go to Settings>Messages>Send&Receive>only your phone number should be enabled.

Yes, the message is self-explanatory. You need a carrier who supports Apple's activation policy for an iPhone.

Have you talked to your carrier to confirm the unlock?
What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup. -
I have restored the settings on my iphone and now after entering the pin on my sim card it wants me to connect it to iTunes but when i try it just says my sim card is not supported... what can i do now? It worked fine before...

i connected my iphone 3g to itunes which was in 4.1 firmware and itunes ask for an update which i downloaded an updated the phone to version 6.1.3 but my phone cannot start it shows no service my sim card is not getting network and i cannot use the phone. what should i do.?
First, you do not have a 3G if you could upgrade it to 6.1.3, because 4.2.1 is the last version that will work on the 3G. So you either have a 3GS or you somehow hacked the phone to install an incompatible version. Assuming you have a 3GS the most likely reason for your problem is you have a gray market phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it. When you upgraded it you removed the hack, so the phone is now locked to its original carrier.
