After Tiger to Leopard conversion shared user folders stopped working

Hi,
Today i updated our mailserver to leopard. This server is also the OD master. Directly updated to 10.5.1 to have the latest bugfixes. Most things seem to work ok, but somehow our shared folders are not visible anymore. Checked the rights on them with cyradm and those are still good. When opening the account in thunderbird i can see the boxes but i cannot select them (can chose to subscribe / unsubscribe though). Has anybody else experienced this or know the answer to this problem?

since i am testing leopard server with tiger and leopard clients i just noticed this problem seems somehow related to mail 3.1 accessing IMAP ACLs differently to mail 2.x, as tiger client to leopard server works fine in picking up shared imap folders.
result: atm assigning ACLs individually seems to be the only way to share imap folders... ;0(
any ideas on how to make group ACLs work again would be highly appreciated.

In my main user on my MacBook Pro Spring Loaded Folders stopped working in the Finder. If I switch to one of my other users on the same MBP it works fine. So my question is, which preference should I delete to restore this functionality?
I already tried com.apple.finder.plist and that had no effect after relaunching the Finder.

Could it be that the preference got turned off? Go to Finder > Preferences > General, and down at the bottom, you should see a toggle switch for spring-loaded folders. If it's already on, try turning it off, relaunching Finder, and turning it on again (and then re-relaunching Finder!).

Don't the albums show at all?
Are you signed in with the same Apple ID that you used with iCloud before? And are you currently browsing the System Photos Library? Only one Photos library, enabled as the System Photos library can sync with iCloud.
For me it helped to disable iCloud Photo sharing in the System Preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options
and in the Photos. app Preferences < iCloud.
Then restart the Mac and enable the same Preferences again.
And wait.
The Shared albums came slowly back and were all back after one day.

Hi，
So switch a LAN card fix this issue...seems a compatibility issue or maybe some packs or programs you installed recently cause this issue.
Have you manually check the network adapter driver from the PC's manufacture website? sometimes, it will be a time delay before Microsoft push out the driver update.
Check if issue exists in safemode with network, this mode will launch Windows with limited sets of files and drivers.
if you have a restore point, restore the pc to a previous point at which the pc is functioning fine.

User has stopped working

Applying filter to 'Other Users' has stopped working (v1.0.0.15.57)

With no apparant reason (or changes to my workstation), the apply filter feature to limit 'Other Users' has stopped working. The problem began on the day that SQLDev failed to display the navigation frame.
I've got the nav frame back, but the filter on 'Other Users' still doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me where the filter entries are stored?
Oh, what's worse, the initial display of 'Other Users' does not include the entire list. Today the 'Show more/All users' failed to expand the list to all users. One of the users not initially displayed owns files to which I need access. (The solution was to stop and restart SQLDev - but that is a pain is the a$$.)

Editing preference files is not supported. Doing so can corrupt the settings and cause SQL Developer to run improperly.
Okay, having gotten that out of the way, let me see if I can help you get this sorted out. The filters are stored inside the preferences.xml file, located under jdev\system\oracle.onlinedb.11.0.0.37.42.
The first step is to back up this file. Once you have done that, you can try to remove the filter info. The preferences in the file are stored as keys and values. Search for the key with the text 'ConnectionOptions'. Under the value element associated with this key, there should be a filterMap element. This element contains all of the navigator filters. Each filter will look like this:

In this case, this is a filter on the Other Users folder. To clear the filter, remove the entire item element (that is, delete everything between and including the <item> and </item>.

Spotlight problem after Tiger to Leopard Upgrade

Since I upgraded my Macbook Pro 15" from Tiger to Leopard, Spotlight never worked. Initially I didn't mind too much but now I want to get it work.
I tried all suggestions I found in this forum (see list below) to no avail.
It seems Mac OS cannot index the system disk.
Any Terminal command like mdutil or mdimport have no effect and return no info. As a check, I ran the same utilities on my iMac (same Leopard version, but native) and they do in fact work as expected, as well as Spotlight. Another example: mdfind works on my iMac but return nothing on my MBP.
If I try the regular way, when I write my search string in the Spotlight window I just get nothing on my MBP.
I tried the OnyX features for Spotlight:
- Maintenance/Rebuild/Spotlight Index seems to do something, but in fact it does nothing useful
- Parameters/Spotlight/Options: Enable Indexing the Startup-Disk makes an attempt to enable it and switches immediately back to disabled. No way to keep the option checked. Also removed the Font cache from OnyX as suggested in some post - null.
Some attempts I made:
- used Disk Utility to check the disk (no repair needed)
- used Disk Utility to repair permissions: there are many that are always repaired... this makes me feel the problem might in fact be in the permission area. But after many repair the result is always null.
- added the start-up disk to the Privacy area in Spotlight Prefs, and later on removed - null
- trashed com.apple.spotlight.plist pref user prefs - a new one was created but no effect
- removed /.Spotlight-V100 from terminal - a new one was created but no effect
- used mdutil -E and -i on and off - I always get the message "/: Indexing and searching disabled"
- mdimport -L or -A or -X return nothing (on my iMac they return the list of plugins, schema etc.)
- rebooted many times also in safe mode - null
- the problem exists also for the other user on the same MBP
- tried OnyX as described above.
No effect!!
Now my question is: what can I try next ?
I'm sure there is some parameter somewhere (some .plist ?) that can re-enable Spotlight. But which one and where ?

It deals mainly with Spotlight indexes, but it also contains some diagnostics - its description includes the following:
Spotless will automatically find and delete the "mds-crash-state" file from selected volumes. The file may be created if the Metadata Server crashed or was unexpectedly closed during the indexing process. The presence of this file can prevent Spotlight from indexing the volume in the future.
Spotless allows you to see exact size of the index directory on each volume.
Spotless also includes an on/off switch for Spotlight.

Sharing user folders between two OSX partitions

I have two partitions on my drive running OSX, one running 10.9.4 (we'll call this Partition 1), the other running another recent version of OSX that I apparently can't name here because someone out there doesn't know how to read or is being a troll (you know who you are), and keeps getting my thread deleted for no valid reason. We'll call the second partition, you guessed it, Partition 2.
What I'd like to be able to do is have my computer booted to Partition 2 and access my user folders (movies, photos, etc) that exist on Partition 1, as it's a drag to have to reboot to Partition 1 every time I want to work, watch a movie, listen to music, etc, etc. etc.
I've had no luck. No matter what I try, when I'm booted to Partition 2 and try to access the user folders in Partition 1, they all have the red circle on the icon, and I get a "you don't have permission..." error when I try to open them.Helpful facts:
The username is the same for my user account on both Partition 1 and Partition 2.
I've tried allowing permissions to everyone, and in Get Info I've tried applying the permission settings to enclosed items (the only suggestion I got on the discussion I started about a month ago on this issue.
No, I don't have the HD space in my MBPr to have a duplication of the entire user account on the other partition, nor would I want to - if something is modified in Partition 1, I want to have fluid access in Partition 2.
When in Partition 1, I can move files into the public folder for my Partition 2 user (which I've done a couple times when I know in advance that I might want a file to play with in Partition 2 - though this is nowhere near a practical solution to my issue).

You have two different account usernames and passwords, so you cannot access the information in a user account unless you are logged into that account. If you want to access data across the partitions, then both user accounts must have the same username and password. You may then access the information directly or using aliases.
The alternative to this is to use the entire home folder on one partition as the default home folder on the other partition. You can do this using Users & Groups preferences.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu. You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the other partition (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the other partition.

10.6 mail server shared IMAP folders not working on 10.9 apple mail

So we thought we upgrade a MBPro to 10.9 for some testing and low and behold, we already encountered a serious problem... well, at least for us.
We operate a 10.6.8 mail server which also hosts shared IMAP folders, to which team members subscribe on a per project basis.
Unfortunately, in Apple Mail v7.0 we can now no longer subscribe to individual IMAP folders it simply shows all and does not allow for individual folders to be deselected.
We realise it is early days, but it seems like a massive oversight to not detect such a bug....?

Unfortunately. the latest Apple Mail update (version 7.0, build 1822) still does not resolve this.
We are really hoping that this gets resolved soon, as the obivous direct problem is that Apple Mail 7.0 downloads all emails in Public IMAP folders will result in massive problems for all Macs with limited HD capacity, e.g. for all our laptop users with SSDs.

I have attempted re creating the setup using several blog posts including:

ADFS and WAP are working correctly for our Office 365 federations and on-premise SharePoint, Exchange and other web applications
If I turn ADFS authentication off on the Work Folders server I can successfully connect and setup work folders on a domain joined computer, however as soon as ADFS authentication is enabled I get the above error.

As you expressed, it should be an authentication issue.
I assume it will work by selecting Windows Authentication instead of ADFS in step shows in following picture.
The article also mentioned that the certificate is needed in following computers.
The self-signed AD FS certificate will need to be exported and installed on the following machines in the test environment:
Work Folders
Web Application Proxy
Domain joined Windows 8.1 client
Non-domain joined Windows 8.1 client
Thus I would like to confirm if certificate is also imported.

User Interface stopped working after adding existing project

Hi, I've just created a new User Interface for one of our service beans. To do this, I created one application (called UserInterface) with one project (also called UserInterface), this project uses JSF JSPs to get the GUI. On its own, this project works fine. But whenever I add existing projects to the application, the UserInterface stops working. I right-click my jspx page, choose run and all I get is an empty page. The point is, the UserInterface should get connected to the service bean that's in the second project (ContentServices), so somehow I have to add the project to the application, don't I?
Sorry for being a little vague about this but I don't know quite what to ask and where to search for... can someone give me a hard push in the right direction?

Found it with some help from a colleague. The new project contained a library with some jars that had the same name as some jars that were in the old project. Those didn't really mix well together :-)

Screen Sharing in iChat stopped working

To begin with, I have iChat 4.0.3 but I do not see any categories for that version.
The screen sharing feature in iChat was a really great tool that allowed me assist my family from remote locations to help them trouble shoot issues on their Macs. This feature mysteriously stopped working after the release of the 10.5.3 Mac OS X update. Prior to that, the feature worked perfectly and was able to connect each and everytime after all the proper settings were configured correctly at each end. Now, the feature does not work at all in iChat. I have confirmed and I am able to use the screen sharing features in "Back to my Mac" so I can still screen share with my desktop at home when traveling using my laptop, but I cannot screen share trying to connect using iChat. I have double checked the proper settings for sharing and those are good, I have double checked the settings in Quick Time preferences and those are set to 1.5 Mbps T1 as suggested. I have also gone back and applied the 10.5.3 combo update to both my laptop and the iMac that I am trying to connect to. The router settings have all been verified and the ports are open. The firewalls are all set and both allow connections using iChat, File Sharing, and Remote Log In. Still, after all of this, the screen sharing feature in iChat will not connect and results in a timeout error after about 15 seconds. Is this a known bug in 10.5.3 and can I expect some relief in the next update? Are there any other tricks that may be applied? This is a feature I relied on pretty heavily and now it is gone. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I have read several posts regarding the issue of screen sharing in iChat not working properly and I have tried every solution offered in those threads and none of them have worked for me.

Upon further testing with a different iMac user I was finally able to determine that the problem is router related. I am going to go back again and double check the port settings to make sure they are configured correctly. The router that is giving the problems is a Linksys router and the router that tested fine is an Apple Airport Extreme router. I suspect the LInksys router probably needs to be tweaked further to get it to work properly.

ICloud shared photo stream stopped working for one subscriber

A shared photostream stopped working for one subscriber. Tried resending the invite several times but after the person clicks on the link, it says "stream no longer shared". Have tried alternate emails and no avail. Anyone else have this issue? I tried resending the invite to myself and to a phone number but also having the same issue. No issues uploading to the photostream or any issues for anyone else.
