After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, I can see it in iTunes in the source list, but after selecting it, there is no summary or anything to configure my sync options. I just see 'iPhone' written. What can I do to fix this?
I just updated my iPhone and my iPad to iOS 5.
Restoring the backup just worked fine as well as syncing the music and videos, but my Apps weren't synced at all.
With my iPhone I got it done, after I installed some of my apps using the cloud and suddenly the all were installed during the next sync with my iTunes. All the stored data of my apps were on the iPhone, so I didn't loose anything.
But with my iPad, this didn't work as well. I seem to have to install all apps by my self from the cloud.
But my major problem is, that when I connect my devices to my Mac Book Air, they are shown in the source list, but except for showing 'iPhone' or 'iPad' I see nothing. I can't configure any sync options, so I am not able to do change or do anything.
When updated to iOS 5 I used to restore the backup from before updating my iPhone/iPad in iTunes.

You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, particularly before any update or restore.
You should also be syncing your contacts to your computer regularly. They hsould be in whatever program/service that you have selected to sync.
If you have failed to do this, then they are very likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup.

You can't remove the built-in root certificates, but you can remove their trust bits via the Edit button to prevent Firefox from using them as a trusted root certificate.
Intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored when visiting websites that show as "Software Security Device" should never has trust bits set.
Note that it is the responsibility of a server to send all required intermediate certificates to make it possible to build a certificate chain that ends with a built-in root certificate. -

You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.

Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer. -

itunes shows an error. I can't turn it on or off either. i can only see the black screen with the apple while it's (aparently) working.
my itunes is the latest version, that shouldn't be the problem.
can anyone help me?!The updating on the iPod only is a feature of iOS 5. yu first have to connect to your syncing computer and upadate to iOS 5. After that you can do subsequent updating via wifi without a computer.

after downloading the new itunes and also ios 5 for my ipad 2, I cannot get itunes to open for more than 3 seconds without it crashing on me. I have uninstalled it and re-installed it with no luck. Windows says iTunes has stopped working. I have also tried a "repair" of the program but nothing. Help please?!
Do you have Internet Security Software turned on in your Internet Explorer?
I turned mine off, as I have Norton AV. Go into Internet Explorer and check to see if you have that on and try turning that off...and then try to get back onto FF. You may have to restart your computer, I'm not sure, as I'm not a techie. I just know that the Internet Security Software clashed with my Norton AV.

When the update fails what if any error report do you get, specifically? Please do this before trying again:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. -

I upgraded an iPhone 4 from IOS 4 to IOS 6 and had similar problems here is what I did.
Problem:
Using the Camera App from the initial screen (a view finder for me) there is an icon on the lower left side with my last photo taken. When I select this icon the image is displayed and on the upper left side of the screen the Camera Roll button appears.
I select the Camera Roll button and all my images show up as black on a white background. I can select a black square and my image will apear.
Using the Instagram App when I try to select from my Camera Roll I see the same black boxes, and Instagram is not saving photos to my Camera Roll.
Fixing Instagram not saving problem:
Go to Settings:Privacy:Photos
Move the Instagram slider to ON
Back to the images not showing in the Camera Roll.
Someone suggested doing a reset (hold down sleep and home button for 10 seconds). After doing the reset the problem was worse. From the Camera App selecting the last photo icon from the view finder screen and the Camera Roll screen apears but says there are no saved images.
Fixing the Camera Roll not showing correctly problem:
Set Settings:General:Restrictions to ON (You will be prompted to create a password)
Select Settings:General:Restrictions ON>
Toggle the Camera slider to ON if it isnt already
This worked for me. Your milage may vary. Good luck. -

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

There was something you could have done, bought extended warrenty, would have covered this. Apple is outside of it's one year warrenty policy, they had the agreement, and when you update you also sign an agreement that you would be responsiable for any problems that occur.
The best thing you can do is the Out of warrenty for 199$; you didn't get additional coverage; something bad happen, be glad they offer the OOW. -

I am sorry to hear about your lost notes...I understand how you might feel... I did recover mine yesterday..I did two step confirmation password on Gmail then created a "special" password under the mail settings on Gmail that I typed on the iphone Gmail slot for the password and my account was cleared and with that came the notes...however i did check the notes on gmail website earlier than doing this steps and none were there..not a clue why they show up after the new password was set in... mysteries unsolved... Only option is upgrading your Mac's OSX, since Apple will not allow iOS to go backwards.
