My Acrobat 8 Pro is failing to print to a pdf from multiple software. I get an error message that a repair fixes but only for a little while. Pretty soon the trial version of 9 that I installed pops up telling me it has expired but it would take me to a way to buy a valid serial number and then 8 stops working again. I’d be happy if the 8 I paid for worked right or I could get 9 for a small cost but I cannot afford $450 or $20/month. I need a permanent solution that I should be already paid for with 8 pro.
After multiple repair procedures with reboot in AA8 I was eventually able to restore the printing to pdf function from various software. However I have again lost my Acrobat tab in Outlook 2007. I need that back, but today an even bigger problem arose. AA8 has stopped printing to fax. It faxes a blank page. The only fax printing option is “Microsoft Shared Fax Driver”. My fax software is “Windows Fax and Scan” and it was working fine just a couple weeks ago. My OS is Windows 7 Professional.
I have tried doing the updates you referred to but I get error messages like these:
“No qualifying products found to apply this update, or update has been already applied”
or
“The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing , or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.” -
After the OS 6 update my speaker does not work. Volume control on the side does not adjust the volume either. My music plays but no sound comes out. Can someone help me with this issue? I've tried rebooting my phone but still no sound comes out. I currently have the 4S.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard.. external HD not working?
Hello Everyone, I'm hoping to get some help here so that I don't have to make a trip to the Genius Bar to figure out what is going on. I have a late 2009 edition MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, 250 GB HD). I finally decided to install Snow Leopard today using the drop in DVD that the store provided me with when I bought the notebook in the summer of 2009 (never felt like taking the time to do the upgrade till today). Well, now that the upgrade is done, I can no longer use my Iomega UltraMax 500 GB external hard drive that I use to backup data with using Time Machine. Every time I plug it in, it shows up for a split second and then I get the red alert box telling me that I did not eject it properly. At first, I panicked that the drive is corrupt, but I plugged it into my old PowerBook that I have sitting around and it works perfectly fine. I can open all the files and everything!
I hope someone here can help me troubleshoot what is going on. Could Snow Leopard have screwed with my USB ports or something?
Thank you in advance! After this happens, have you tried disconnecting the drive and immediately connecting a different USB device (perhaps a flash drive) to the same port the Iomega drive was using, just to see whether the port is still active or has shut down? The behavior sounds like what one would see if the drive were drawing too much power from the USB port, causing the port to shut down. But ordinarily there is an error message that accompanies the shutdown and explains that it's because of a device drawing too much power. And of course your drive shouldn't be drawing power from the port at all unless its AC power supply is failing — but if its power supply were bad, it wouldn't work with your Powerbook.
It's an odd and puzzling problem, and I have no explanation for it. -
After upgrade to Snow Leopard, comprehensive view of notes not visible
Last night I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Overall, the upgrade went smoothly and quickly. However, now when I look at my Notes in Apple Mail, I cannot see them all in a single list, as I could in Leopard. The notes all appear to be there. I know this because I set up Smart Mailboxes for my notes and I can see subsets of the notes in the Smart Mailboxes but I'd like to be able to see the entire set.
In Preferences => Accounts => Mailbox Behaviors, I have checked and unchecked "Show notes in mailbox" to no avail.
Also, although I have selected all messages in my Inbox (Edit => Select All) and marked them as read, it still indicates that I have 10 unread messages. This is a side issue though. If I could get my notes to work, I'd be happy.
Thanks. If they are Firewire, read on.......
Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!
First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 30 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that didn't work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try.
If that still didn't get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
A bad internal PRAM battery can also cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!
Also, here is Apple doc.#88338 on getting FireWire to work.
Here's another Fw Faq.

Turns out the auto-complete database is a SQLite DB stored in this folder. Probably the ownership and/or permissions are messed up on your system. Mine (under Snow Leopard) show ownership by me and rw privilege for all files in that directory, including MailRecents.... -
Downgrade using Snow Leopard install DVD does not work on iMac 27"
I have an iMac 27" (SMC version 1.54f36) that I wish to downgrade. I bought a 5-user Snow Leopard license. Now I'm trying to re-install from the DVD, but the computer won't boot on the DVD.
If I run the installer from the desktop, the installation starts, but when the computer reboots, it gets stuck. No alterations is done on the system disk, so I can hold down the Alt key and choose to boot from the system disk and I'm still on 10.6.5. For the moment I cannot find the discs supplied with the iMac, but surely the SL install DVD should work?? I've used it once before to do a clean SL install (I believe the iMac I have came with Leopard).
The version on the SL install DVD is 10.6 (2Z691-6558-A)
The reason for downgrading is that my Pro Apps (DVDSP and FCP) got a bit shaky when I updated to 10.6.5.If you have a 27" iMac, it had to ship with Snow Leopard installed. See Mac OS X versions (builds) included with Intel-based Macs to confirm this, & Don't install a version of Mac OS X earlier than what came with your Mac for why you should not try to downgrade to an earlier version.
If the version on your SL install DVD is 10.6, then it is an early version & will not work with your iMac. The current retail product version installs 10.6.4 & should work if your iMac is the "Late 2009" model. It probably will not work if your iMac is the "Mid 2010" model.
You need your grey system discs. They should be kept accessible wherever you use your iMac. If you have lost them, contact Apple about getting a replacement set. -
Firefox will not start, no error messages at all unless I go to uninstall it and it says that it is already running. After rebooting my computer, and re-installing several times I still get nothing! Been going on for a month or so now. I am running XP pro. PLEASE HELP! I love firefox! The thought of using chrome, safari, IE, or opera is depressing! Please help! Thank you, I have used Firefox since late 2004, it is by far my favorite for many reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have an iphone 3gs of which I attempted the latest IOS pdate through itunes. Now, it shows the original start up screen and when it gets to the activiaton screen it displays an error message stating: Your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Help anyone??
"We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked. -
Unable to print after upgrading to Snow Leopard (Dell 1320C) - Network
This recently started after upgrading to Snow Leopard.
The OSX drivers worked well with Leopard 10.5.xx but after upgrading to Snow Leopard, i keep getting "network host busy" or "could not connect to printer".
I've tried completly removing printer, reinstalling (IP based), drivers etc etc I even resetted the printing system (right clicking and reseting in the printers list).
This works fine with Leopard but it fails on Snow Leopard..I had the same problem not being able to print to Dell 1320c after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Here is a work around for the Dell 1320c printer to work on Mac with Leopard 10.6.2
Do not use the printer driver from Dell. Delete the Printer Setup from your Mac.
Locate Mac Driver Suitable for 10.5 (Version 1.7) at http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/support/Downloads.aspx?product=5452&categ ory=5726
Double click the icon to install after it downloads. It should create file DPC525AAPv17x5.dmg. When the install is finished you can delete the installer.
From the Apple menu open System Preferences and select Print & Fax.
Click the + to add a printer.
Select IP Printer.
Select for the Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Type the IP address: 192.168.1.xxx or whatever your printer is assigned on your network. (If you don't know, go to your printer and hold down the Green button until the configuration sheet prints. You can see the IP address once printed.)
Name the printer "Dell Color Laser 1320c" or whatever you'd like to call it.
For Print Using select: FX
Next select FX DocumPrint C525 A-AP v1.7 in the box below.
On the next screen you must select 250 Sheet Feeder as an option. Otherwise it will only be able to manual feed.
Click Ok.
Go to Print something, File... Print... but don't click the Print button yet.
Under Pages: go to the Drop Down and select Fuji Xerox Features.
Find the Paper Source Drop Down and select Tray 1 (250 sheets),
then go up to Presets: Drop Down above and select Save As...
and under Preset Name, type Standard-1, leave This Printer Only and click OK.
Now you can click the Print button. This will set the Dell 1320c printer to print from the document tray and not try to manually feed all the time.
Anyway, that's the work around to use the Dell 1320c Color Laser printer under Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.x.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck
P.S. I guess eventually Dell might come out with an updated driver, but don't hold your breath... -

After playing for awhile a Face book game or any other web sites I begin getting an error message that says a busy or unresponsive Script. It has the option of "Continuing" or "stopping" the script When I click to Continue the same error keeps popping up all the time. Same as with clicking on the "Stop" the script option. Script # is https://s-static.ak.facebook.com/rSrc.php/vi/yx/r/LKHquoz1.v.js:5. Why am I getting this error? It's getting really annoying. I hope you can help.
can you check this issue on Firefox 10?

After upgrading to Snow Leopard (yes I know I'm slow to upgrade) my Canon MX870 isn't printing text. It is printing images but the quality if horrendous because it's not printing the black ink.
Here's what I've done so far
Installed the latest drivers for Snow Leopard from Canon
Cleaned the heads of the printer
Added new ink to all cartridges
Run printing tests (nozzle print patterns)...all good
Reset my printers in the Print Fax Preferences and added in the printer again
Numerous restarts
Now I'm at a loss for what else to do. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
BTW, printer is connected via USB not wireless.OK well I can see now that all of my files are present on the hard drive (mybook) only they are not showing up in aperture. It seems that there has been some sort of communication breakdown between the two.
As I said several files are missing and or corrupt in my aperture library. I'm wondering if there is a way to rebuild the library without using the vault technique? Does this make sense to anyone?
I was able to go into finder - mybook - aperture library - show contents and see that all my raw files at least are there. Now I just need to get aperture to recognize them.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Print booklet fails after upgrade to Snow Leopard
After upgrading to Snow Leopard I had to reinstall the driver for my HP 4000N printer. Now all of my booklets print with the right side truncated in the middle as if the paper were 8-1/2 x 8-1/2 instead of 11 inches wide. The InDesign preview shows it correctly. It printed fine yesterday in OS X 10.5, InDesign CS3. Does anyone have advice?
I did a clean install of Snow Leopard on a new disk and InDesign has the same problem of clipping a landscape layout booklet.
I bought a new HP Laserjet and it has the same problem.
I downloaded a trial version of InDesign CS5 on the new system with the new printer and it has the same problem.
InDesign just thinks the paper is only 8-1/2" wide in the Print Booklet procedure and it clips the printing at 8-1/2". It will print a normal landscape page fine. It shows the Preview of the booklet correctly. I can save the booklet as a PostScript file and Preview will print it fine. I've been printing the same booklet under 10.5 for several years without problem.
InDesign just won't print the booklet correclty under Snow Leopard. -
After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion I cannot access a PGP drive which was generated under snow leopard. PGP does not start. When I try to start I just receive a message that Lion cannot work with PGP. How can I now access important and confifential informatio which I have stored in PGP (snow leopard). Do I have to move back to snow leopard. If so, how can I do this?
If you have this product,
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH165159
you have to go back to Snow Leopard.
To re-install SL, back up your home directory, format and re-install.
