After upgrading to Yosemite I had to upgrade iPhoto and now it says I need to update my photo library or it will be lost...HELP
After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade iPhoto. Now when I try to open iPhoto I get the following message:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete .
Question is...how do i upgrade the photo library?
You can't back up an open iPhoto...
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade my iPhoto, now the full res versions of my images cannot be found. I had created a book to print (before upgrade) but, after the upgrade the book can't be created as I get the message that images can't be found. However, if I search for the filename I can find the image. I tried repairing library as per support instructions but it hasn't helped. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - apply Option #4, Rebuild Database. -

I tried to upgrade the new version for i pad mini but when downloading it just went off and told me to connect it to i tunes, so i did and now it says i need to restore it. Does that mean I will lose everything in my i pad?
In other words, the upgrade process did not go altogether well and the device has lost all its contents. When you plug it in, they will be restored from the backup.

I had to get a new hard drive, now illustrator says my license is expired and I have to get reactivated. When I used the phone support and entered in all the numbers, a recording comes up saying that my reactivation numbers are invalid. What can I do so I can start working again in illustrator
Where did you purchase illustrator. It sounds like it was from a shady dealer. I would contact Adobe and see what you can do.

thanksWhatever you read about iTunes is wrong unless you're actually referring to feature movies, not videos. Videos, apps, music and iBooks you can re-download:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Download to your computer and then sync to your iPod touch whatever will fit.
And no, I can't say with certainty that they won't give you a refund, but it's unlikely. The most probable outcome, if you do indeed mean movies, not TV shows or other videos, is that they would set up an additional download. For other content they'll probably just direct you to the same instructions on re-downloading I just posted. -
Apple offers a download for 11.0 .5 or something but I now can't connect my iPhone with OS 7 to my computer with ver 11.0.5!!
I wished that was a warning that had been publicized before I upgraded the phone OS !!!
What do I do????Hello jocko666,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are trying to install iTunes 11.1 on your Windows Vista computer. Windows Vista is compatible with iTunes 11.1. You can check the other requirements here:
Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
You can download the latest version of iTunes here:
Download iTunes
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you are running Windows (64-bit), you can download iTunes 11.1 from here:
iTunes 11.1 for Windows (64-bit)

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I've tried many solutions they gave me but I can get Itunes to recognise my Ipod. I'm starting to get frustrated with this device,
There are multiple reasons that lead to issue. You should read the troubleshooting guide to get the right solution to solve the issue: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

Upgraded to iPhoto '11, Now it's permanently stuck on 'updating database'
I upgraded to iPhoto '11 from the Apps Store on my MacMini 2011 to take advantage of the iCloud functionality, the install appeared to execute without any problems. But when I start iPhoto, it says it needs to update my photo database. The progress indicator (bar) is is almost done and it appears that the last 10% is left and it just stays that way. I've left my MacMini on overnight assuming it's still working, and it's taking longer than I had expected. But I discover in the morning that it hasn't progressed any more. I had to manually cold boot my mac, and when I attempted to start iPhoto again, leaving it on all day without any power saving options turned on, and I still get the same problem.
Does anybody know how to fix this one?
ThanksOption 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I downloaded Pandora to my iPOD and then my wifi quit and i had to restart it and now Pandora says it is not connected to the internet. How do I get it reconnected?
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset Network Settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version". Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry,
Yes, the error message is exactly like that ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all. I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference? iPhoto and Photos . Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro, iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto. It's call iPhoto library. At one point I turned off streaming.
Thanks again Larry HN. -
I have an iphone4 and that I have had for four years and they are saying that I am not eligible for an upgrade until the end of July 2015. That is four years and 3 months after I purchased this phone. "Customer service" said I had an upgrade at the end of July 2013, which I did not. She said that in the system my husband took an upgrade July 29th 2013. He didn't even have a Verizon phone, he had a work phone with T-mobile. I have asked what device he supposedly upgraded to since no phones have been activated and we all still have our same phones and numbers. Remember at the time, said husband had a work phone with T-mobile. I still have the very same phone as do all of the rest of my family members. No one has upgraded. I spoke with "customer service" for more than a half an hour today, Char promised me that her supervisor (Emily) would call me back by 7:30 tonight to clear up this problem. Well guess what? No call back so where should I go from here? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.
someone swapped upgrades. Phone could have been sold For quick cash.

When I upgrade to yosemite, when I have to send and receive mail is very slow
When I upgrade to yosemite, when I have to send and receive mail is very slow. Mails take a long time to be send and receive, and the mail boxes disconnect frequently. I am using the yosemite mail server and don't have this issue with user with Maverick.
Many ThanksSo let me see if I understood it right... In Mavericks you didn't had this issue, this only happens in Yosemite and you are using Apple Mail, not another mail client. Have you tried in System Preferences > Internet Accounts unchecking and rechecking the email checkbox on your account?? If that doesn't works try deleting and adding your account.
Sorry for the bad English -
Downloaded OS 10.10. Was instructed to download iPhone 9.6. After 9.6 was downloaded iPhoto requested to update photo library which it will not do. How do I upgrade the photo library?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I'm Apple promoter and love it. But, since I upgrade to Yosemite, my MacBook started to act like a PC. I need to restart it from time to time and very often. Also when I plug my headset, it dosent recognize it and I need to "Preferences" to select it manually. So many small issus but acting like PC it is very annoying, how can I recommend Apple for people?

Alternative to Logitech Keyboard Drivers?
Does anyone know if there is any software that will let you use the special keys on Logitech keyboards? The Logitech keyboard software is buggy, and because it also tries to control your mouse, it interferes with other mouse software like SteerMouse.
