Ahhh...the never-ending HP update is back!

In Mountain Lion on my wife's machine, the App Store constantly says there is an update for HP printers. I install the update and the message persists. I had the same problem a couple of years ago and finally told Software Update to ignore the update.
Is there a way to tell the App Store to ignore the update?
Kurt

This is a shot in the dark, but try going to /Library/Receipts and locating any .pkg file that corresponds to this firmware update. Move it out. Then try running Software Update again.

  • SOLUTION for the never ending reboot loop when charging

I used my iPad until the battery was completely flat, then when I went to charge it, it got stuck in the never ending reboot loop where it shows the Apple logo for about 30 seconds, then shows the home screen for a split second before shutting down and repeating the whole process again and again.
So here's what you need to do to fix this problem without having to restore or plug into iTunes.
    1. Plug in the charger
    2. When the Apple logo appears, unplug the charger
    3. As soon as you see the home screen appear, plug the charger back in. You need to do this quickly as the home screen only shows for a split second
    4. The loading wheel should appear and shut down the iPad
    5. Leave the iPad for a good 30mins or so just to get some battery life into before you start using it again.
    And that's it!

  • The never ending Connecting to ISP mesage-but never happens

For the last week I have had no problems with my Extreme base station which connects through Dial up and is extendeded by a Airport Express station to provide coverage to several of my families laptops. Today - I asked airport to connect like always (I dont have it configured for automatic dial) and while it began dialing like normal got stuck on the message connecting to ISP. Needless to say I have tried everything including resetting it, (which by the way is the only way I can stop the connecting to ISP message on Internet Connect) I have disconnected and turning every computer off as well as the express station and physically I reset the base station via paper clip and used the Airport assistant to set the base station up like new - but no dice. Everytime it dials (and I have actually picked up the phone to listen) it makes the call but when the message Connecting to ISP is displayed the phone goes silent and the computer is stuck displaying the scrolling message that it is connecting to the ISP. But NADA! Do you think my ISP or phone company changed something??? Could it be new firmare or airport software taking effect? Man if you have any ideas - please help.

Well I got ahold of (AppleCare) - more specifically - Sean in Austin - a product specialist who took me through - tons of stuff annnnd - NADA - had to escalate it to engineering who probably won't be able to answer until Thursday. Interestingly we were able to hook up to a Apple Server without a problem but my ISP still gives the never ending "Connecting to ISP" message - later I called my ISP and they said if your able to connect the computer to there ISP but not the router - then it isnt there problem - its Apple.
STUCK till Thursday without my EXTREME! REAK

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • IOS and Activesync mail Exchange (the never ending story)

    Hi All,
And here we go again: even with the update 8.1.3 Mail with Exchange ActiveSync stopped working.
The problem occurs now in every update from 8.0 (and even with upgrades version 7.x). For each upgrade of IOS email and activesync stop working, not only in push mode but also in scheduled mode (eg every 15 minutes). The email does not update until I access mail app.
The Exchange Server does not change for years, and the solution must be provided on IOS from Apple and not from Microsoft Exchange Server since the problem occurs only on IOS and only after updates of iOS. This story is really frustrating. No Android or Microsoft Phone has never had this problem. I begin to think that changing phone is the only alternative.
I do not want to buy paid app to use the e-mail, a feature that should work perfectly with the default tools of a smartphone device from 729 EUR.

I posted this another another topic. Anyone have any clue?
Well, here's a new twist. I purchased the Academic Edition of Aperture 1.0 DIRECTLY from Apple and when the rebate was announced, I applied for it. A couple of weeks later I received a letter stating that my serial number "cannot be read, is incomplete, or was not recognized as a valid serial number". OK, my penmanship isn't the best, so I sent them one of the Aperture Software Coupons with one of the serial number stickers attached to it thinking that this would surely be sufficient proof of ownership. Today, I received the same letter again. I just got off the phone with their help desk and all they could tell me was that my serial number isn't eligible for the rebate with no reason why. When I spoke with the supervisor, they stated they don't have access to that information, only that it comes up as ineligible.
Did I miss something? Were there qualifications to the rebate that I overlooked? As a PC user trying to make the switch, this kind of customer service dosen't bode well.
(I understand that Apple doesn't allow the free exchange of information on these boards so the moderators will probably delete this post fairly quickly. If you have some insight, you can email me at davedotmelvinatgmaildotcom)
    Thanks,

  • How can I solve the never ending sync since updating to ios5?

I'm running Lion and when I upgraded my iPone 3GS to iOS5 I can no longer sync.  It freezes with the message "Waiting for sync to start".

I was stuck at that same message through three iOS restore cycles.
I just got off the phone with Apple Support and resolved my issue. It just needed a re-installation of iTunes.
My case is with Windows and iPhone 4, though. Good luck.

  • How do you fix the never ending loop with Itunes authorization process??

Every time I try to Sync my Iphone, an itunes popup shows up claiming that my computer is no longer authorized for the apps on my phone. On the pop up it gives three options to choose from: "Cancel", "Authorize", and "Don't Authorize". If I choose authorize, it asks me to put in my apple ID and password. Now right here confuses me because when that pops up, it show's a very old email that hasn't been used with itunes in atleast over a year (most likely longer). On an offside note, with my phone I understand a bit of why the email popups with my Iphone because I used to use the email until I got my own apple ID. But now when I try to Sync my girlfriends ipod, which has never come into contact with the email, it shows the same email. Anyway, I change the email to my current one and type in my password and click on "Authorize". Then comes the final pop up telling me "This computer is already authorized. Includin this one, you have authorized one computer out of your available 5." and then gives me the option "OK". I click OK and and the process repeats itself.
Here is a picture of the first popup.
I'm new to this so I don't really know if I need to blur anything out but this is it.
This is the second popup. This first pictures shows what it looks like at first and the second is me putting in my information.
Then the third popup after I click "Authorize"
and of course after this it repeats itself.
I have tried authorizing the computer under the itunes store tab but then it says its already authorized. I don't know how to fix this and it's been a pain for over a month. I heard someone else in my family had the same problem and it just randomly went away after certain amount of time, which I don't get. Any help is gladly accepted.
    Also Merry Christmas

    A few more details....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Not able to get a link to the fron-end portal(ess) with back-end sap R\3 AB

    Hi,
In the back-end i.e sap abap-hr , the required data (leave types) are available. But on front-end Portal(ESS) ,the drop-down menu in personal LOA forms shows only two leave types(personal & self-funded leave).i got struck in how to make few in remaining also viewable in the drop-down list. Can anyone help me on this?

    Bottom line,
to configure the Leaves on your portal you have to do.
    1. Configure the Leave Types and all the customizing on T554S.
opc. If you want to have quota deduction, and everything else you should check V_T559L, T556C, T556A as well.
    2. Configure the Leaves on the Portal.  This is done on the IMG path colleague replied:
    >Personnel Management
    >Employee Self-Service
    >Service-Specific Settings
    >Working Time
    >Leave Request
    >Processing Processes
       a. Create the Rule Groups - this step you just create them.
       b. Adjust feature WEBMO - The feature WEBMO is used to select the rule group. Most of the times based on MOLGA and Ctrl. Center.
       c. Define Processing Processes for Each Rule Group - define the processes such as how to record partial day leaves, details on to check PTREQ_HEADER tables for unposted leaves, and how to determine workflow's next agent (more info press F1 on each of these fields)
       d. Specify Processing Processes for Types of Leave - Associate the Leaves from T554S that you want to show on the portal. This includes Absences and ATtendances. Here you define data such as if you are allowed to create leaves on the past, present and future; field customizing, and other details.
Since Time Management is an old part of SAP the F1 documentation is very complete so I really advise you to check.
    Also, check http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/LeaveRequestCustom+Messages
for how to have custom warning messages to show on your leaves.
    I hope I have clarified.
    Kind Regards,
    Bentow.

  • Never ending software update

    Hello,
I bought the Adobe CC about a month ago.
Everyday since nearly 2 weeks my main software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Dreamweaver) need update constantly, more than once a day.
Though I'm restarting my Mac everytime the update complete, it keeps on and on.
I need to update Indesign in order to work on the DPS, but the update is never taken into account.
Each time i restart my computer, it starts over from scratch and I haven't been able to work on DPS since then. Which is a probelm.
Is there something I do wrong ?
Is there really so many updates to do (2, 3 each day)?
What is the right way to follow and for the update to be taken into account ?
    Thanks for your answer.

    Thanks for answering,
Yes, I do have Indesign CS5 still running on my computer, I need it to work wtih some of my parteners who don't have CC installed yet in order to exchange our files more easily.
    I want to keep it.
Is there any way to do so without the constant update problem ?
    Thanks for answering anyway.

  • The never-ending iWeb issues...

So I've officially had it up to the back teeth with iWeb screwing up my website....
I'm constantly getting the error message:
"iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again"
I am connected, so I'm completely baffled and annoyed by this. I totally reloaded my site last weekend, it took ages as it's a podcast site with a fair amount of audio. I hoped by doing the "Publish All to MobileMe" that'd it'd refresh everything and I'd have no more hassles updating. Wrong.
I've followed the advice of this site:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7751904#7751904
and opened an iDisk window in Finder first, that doesn't work.
I've reverted to uploaded the updated files to my iDisk via Transmit, but that's a serious pain in the butt and a time waster. iWeb is meant to do it automatically and "1-click", but iWeb and MobileMe seems to be just serious pieces of crap at the moment. Yay, they've given us three months free subscription, I don't care! I'd rather it just worked. Isn't that meant to be Apple's motto? It just works!
I'm already ticked that I have to convert my mp3's to VBR files to stop the OCD iWeb compulsively converting them to .mov's. It strikes me that Apple just seriously doesn't give a stuff at the moment.
So.... When will iWeb and MobileMe "Just Work" again? When will posting my podcasts be simple again?
Anyone else having repetitive issues with this that other 'fixes' don't resolve?

Try the fix reported in this article. Even though it's for an email problem it helped others in publishing:
    Source: http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/mobileme/index.html#d30jul2008
    Page Title: MobileMe

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Log into another account on your Mac, log into your MobileMe account via the System/MobileMe preference pane, open iWeb and create a small test site and try to publish it. Report back on the success or lack thereof.

  • The Never-Ending iTunes "Genius" debate

Ok, so I've read all the reported methodology on how the "Genius" feature works, and understand it's far from perfect, and you'll almost certainly end up with the same songs being "geniused" time and time again (for me, America by Razorlight seems to pop up no matter what I choose!!), BUT I still think there must be more to it. As such, can I ask a favour? If you have the following tracks, can you let me know if any of these 4 songs get "Genius" results:
    Group
    Track
    Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
    American Girl
    Foster The People
    Pumped Up Kicks
    Sergio Mendes
    Mas Que Nada
    Sneaky Sound System
    Friends
(There are other many other examples, but these are the ones in the last few days that I remember...)
Now granted, the last one might be too soon to the party, and maybe Foster The People fall into that category as well, but Tom Petty and Sergio Mendes? Er, I think not. And yes, they all have properly updated ID3 tags. And my iTunes has 30k songs, so plenty to choose from. There must be more to it, surely...I mean Tom Petty played American Girl at a Superbowl!! If you follow the thought process of "Genius", then he would have been much better picking another track as clearly it's not a people's favourite..!!

I have American Girl, and yep same result. No Genius results available! Unbelieveable.

  • The never-ending cycle of restoring my iPod...

I got a new iPod for Christmas (well, me and a million other people), and when I plugged it into my computer and iTunes (7.0.2.16), I was told that it was in recovery mode and I had to restore it. So I did.
After it was restored, I plugged it back in (after choosing a language) and I was again told it was in recovery mode and I had to restore it. So I did again. I repeated the process yet again, and still nothing changed. How can I finally make this thing work? It's brand new, not used or anything - all I did before plugging it in was turn it on, scroll through some menus, and turn it off.

I've had iTunes for a couple of years now; it was updated to the current version before I bought the iPod.
After restoring all of this, I still can't put any music on. When I drag and drop a song, a playlist, or a group of highlighted songs onto the iPod, iTunes stops responding for a short while and then nothing happens. If I choose to eject my iPod and then disconnect it once it is safe to, there are no songs on it - and plugging it back in brings up the error message about recovery mode and how I must restore the iPod.

  • QMaster and the never ending encode

I've exported a QT file (not self-contained), set up my QMaster successfully (I've run several with no problems). I've set it up with 4 instances, although I've tried as many as 7. Drop it in Compressor 3.0.5, submit and select my cluster I've created. It begins rendering like a champ. Then, right near the end, one of the segments just takes forever. It basically freezes as the time slowly goes up. I've tried fewer cores, more cores, etc. It's always the last one that freezes. It's driving me freaking nuts.
I've trashed my prefs, ran disc utility, reset background processing in compressor and trashed a couple qmaster folders (sorry, I can't remember where they are, I was following advice given in a post). All to no avail. I've not re-installed compressor yet.

Reinstalling the applications is almost aways a waste of time. There's rarely anything wrong with the software, it's almost always user error or mechanical issues. In your case, the obvious first debug step would be export self-contained and see what happens. It is a safe guess—from where I'm sitting—that your bad segment is the problem. I'm betting it's got several layers, several effects, requires transcoding, or is a .motn file.
