Hi All,
Im using Microsoft VC++6.0 & Illustrator 10 SDK.
How can i get access to "File->Seperation setup " menu of the document using SDK.Which header file should i use?
Actually i need to get the color plates which are on/off inside the separation setup dialog.
Any sample code please.

It sounds like you need to figure out which part of the API deals with colour separation. It could be AIDocument.h or it could be AIColor.h. I'm afraid you'll just have to check the headers until you find something that looks like you want. You could also try searching the API for a piece of text that you'd expect to find associated with the values you're trying to pull -- that might point you in the right direction.

Ok I got your requirement now.
If you are getting file names from view attribute then you should not be adding destination URI property for the link.
Instead you can use OADataBoundValueViewObject API.
Try below code in your controller processRequest method:
I am assuming that you are using classic table.
Also in below example it considers OAMessageStyleText and you can replace it with link item if you want.

It wont take much time .. so simple :- )
Create one os comand step
( for unix) Use
wc -l filename.txt > someoutputfile.txt
Now the number of lines in your file will be there in the output file ( someoutputfile.txt )
Step2 :-
Now use Cezar's logic to fetch the variable value ( file count ) from the output file .. ( select value for a variable from a file )
This will not take eeven a second to finish the job.

ok so if the Mac in question has Developer / Tools - yeah the GetFileInfo binary will work to get the Type and Creator code and other info.... since most Macs dont have this bulky download... how to get file attribute information via Terminal ? How to change it ?

Oddly enough I was just now playing around with a getinfo Applescript and studying the event log when I realized that it does return information about at least some of the attributes. I made the ones that it looks like you can get information about bold:

The SetFile function is actually available on any Mac that has a recent Tiger updater package installed. Thus I have copies in both the package updaters and the receipts for 10.4.7, .8, .9 and .10 in the /Library/Packages and /Library/Receipts folders. The SetFile command is in the Resources folder:
"/Library/Packages/MacOSXUpd10.4.10PPC.pkg/Contents/Resources/SetFile"
Control click on the .pkg file and select Show contents from the Contextual Menu to get there. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to use some other Terminal command to get information on all the attributes, except the GetFileInfo and using the Applescipt get info function.

How to get file line count very fast? I am using BufferedReader to readLine() and count. But when dealing with big file, say several GB size, this process will be very time consuming.
Is there any other methods?

What I'd do is you create an infofetcher, register a listener, implement gotMore() and have that scan for '\n'
Some might suggest getting rid of the listener/sender pattern or use multiple threads to make ii faster. This might help a little, but only if your I/O is super-duper speedy.

Hi Amruta,
First of all, you can not create select-options directly in module pool.
For creating select-option is dialog prog follow these steps:
1. create your selection screen model as subscreen by:
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 2000 AS SUBSCREEN.
PARAMETRS: P_MATNR LIKE MARA-MATNR.
SELECT-OPTIONS: S_BISMAT FOR MARA-BISMAT.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 2000.
2. create a screen ( example 100 ) in your module-pool dedicated for selection-screen. on this screen layout sketch a sub-screen name like subscree_2000.
3. write this bit of code in PBO and PAI of the screen 100;
CALL SUBSCREEN SUBSCREEN_2000.
4. include this code in PBO:
INCLUDING SY-REPID '2000'
6. write user_command of PAI, call screen which is going to executable after selection-screen.
5. create a transcation for this dialog module pool with screen 100.
6. execute this transaction and you can see it's behaving like cool with select-options.
After that in [bprocee on value-request], use F4_DATE for both from and to option field.

How to include file-separator in fileName?

I'm retrieving the file name from a function and that function returns me the string and now I can't change this.
String fileName="C:\jdk1.2\hello.java"
Now next with this file Name I'm making a file object
File f=new File(fileName);
FileInputStream in=new FileInputStream(f);
but this gives me error..that it doesn't found the specified the file given...
so this means I must give the separator as C:\\jdk1.2\hello.java
but I can't change the value returned to me by the function...
So this means that I have to make a function replace which converts '\' to '\\'
String newfileName=replace(fileName);
so please can anybody tell me how to write this funcion? Actually I can't use replace fn. of String class, as it says that '\' is invalid escape character...u try it and compile the result and tell me

I don't whant to be mean but I did't understand what's the problem at all? Are you trying to implement a new method to replace the '\' with '\\' in Strings????. Let me guess:

But beware: you cannot call this method as, say,
String path = replace("C:\My Documents\User\texts\file.dat");
to get "C:\\My Documents\\User\\texts\\file.dat"... First the argument is invalid, and second you're missing the fact that what you want is to preprocess the text of the java SOURCE FILE, not a String object to handle like ***text in you source file***...
Just write your strings like "C:\\My Documents\\User\\Home\\docs.txt" or "C:/My Documents/User/Home/docs.txt" (I personally use the later)
But please see what's the problem:
"C:\My Documents\User\Home\docs.txt"
is not even a String!!!
If you do
