Ajax autocomplete component in page fragment

Hi
I've used ajax autocomplete field in page fragment (for searching) but it's only visible on one page. How to make it visible everywhere?

  • Is it possible to access getRequestBean1 from a component in page fragment?

    Hi,
    Assume I have two pages, the first page has a button (say button1) among other components; the second page contains a page fragment which has a button (say button2) in it.
    In the button1 action, I set the value for a property (say X) which has request bean scope. When I click this button, the navigation will lead to the second page.
    I then tried to retrieve the value using getRequestBean1( ).getX() in the button2 action. To my disappointment, I found that getX( ) always return null.
    I know I may be able to overcome this by making X a session scope property, but I would be grateful if somebody could shed some light on this problem.
    Many thanks.
    Xiaoyan

    Your problem is not related to page fragments. It has to do with the lifetime of a request bean. Here is an excerpt from http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/scopes.html
    Request scope begins when the user submits the page and ends when the response is fully rendered, whatever page that is.
    When you clicked the button on page 1 which submitted the page, the request bean was instantiated. When the response for page 2 was sent to the browser, the request bean's life ended. That is, it is no longer around after the page is displayed.
    One of the ways you can keep the value around for the subsequent submission is to add a hidden field to the page fragment.
    Bind the hidden field to the request bean's property. Then have something like this in the action method
    public String button2_action() {
    staticText1.setText( hiddenField1.getText());
    return null;
    You might want to read the above mention tutorial to learn more about scope and managed beans.

  • AJAX autocomplete and table component

    I am struggling building a page that contains a AJAX autocomplete component a submit button and a table component to display the output.
    My autocomplete component and submit button work fine when I use a statictextfield to display the output.
    My table works fine when I use a dropdown component to provide the query parameter.
    However when I change the dropdown to a autocomplete or the statictextfield to a table and adjust the code accordingly I keep getting errors.
    I based mij app on the following turotials:
    Ihttp://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/databoundcomponents.html
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/techart/2/ajax_samples.html#3
    The code of my autocomplete reads:
    public void autoComplete1_complete(FacesContext context, String prefix, CompletionResult result)
    // TODO: return your own list of items based on the prefix, like this:
    // result.addItem(Hello);
    // result.addItem(prefix.toUpperCase());
    if(prefix == null || prefix.length() < 1) {
    return;
    String prefixLeadingCap = prefix.substring(0,1).toUpperCase() + prefix.substring(1) + %;
    Try {
    CachedRowSetX glosseRowSet = getSessionBean1().getGlosseRowSet();
    glosseRowSet.setObject(1, prefixLeadingCap);
    } catch(SQLException e) {
    return;
    glosseDataProvider.refresh();
    if(!glosseDataProvider.cursorFirst()); {
    return;
    do {
    String glosseName = (String)glosseDataProvider.getValue(glosse.glossenaam);
    result.addItem(glosseName);
    while(glosseDataProvider.cursorNext());
    The SQL query it's based on:
    SELECT ALL glosse.glossenaam
    FROM glosse
    WHERE glosse.glossenaam LIKE ?
    The code of my submit button reads in combination with the statictextfield reads:
    public String button1_action() {
    try {
    getSessionBean1().getGlossarRowSet().setObject(1, autoComplete1.getText));
    glossaryDataProvider.refresh();
    } catch(Exception e) {
    error("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    log("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"), e);
    if(!glosse.DataProvider.cursorFirst()) {
    return null;
    do {
    String glosseVerklaring = (String)glossaryDataProvider.getValue("glossary.verklaring");
    staticText1.setText(glosseVerklaring);
    while(glosseDataProvider.cursorNext());
    return null;
    The SQL query I bound to my table component:
    SELECT ALL glossary.idGlosse
    glossary.glossenaam
    glossary.verklaring
    glossary.deskundigen
    glossary.bron
    FROM glossary
    WHERE glossary.glossenaam =?
    The only thing I can think of causing my problem is the code of the prerender() method.
    For the dropdown I used the following code, which worked ok:
    public void prerender() {
    if (glossaryDD.getSelected() == null ) {
    try {
    glosseDataProvider.cursorFirst();
    getSessionBean1().getGlossaryRowSet().setObject(1, glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    glossaryDataProvider.refresh();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    error("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    log("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"), e);
    To have it work with an autocomplete textfield I replaced the if statement with:
    if(autoComplete1.getText().equals("")) {...}
    this causes a NullPointerException.
    Leaving the if out and just coding the
    try {}
    catch() {}
    resulted in a QLException and the reamrk: statement parameter 1 not set.
    What did I overlook when coding this use case.
    Kind regards,
    Annet

    Afters hours of coding and trying I finally got this part of my app working. However, I am not sure my solution is a robust one, what do you think:
    Here's the code of the prerender() method that does the tric:
    public void prerender() {
    if (glossaryAutoComplete.getValue() == null ) {
    try {
    getSessionBean1().getGlossaryRowSet().setObject(1, "Aggression"));
    glossaryDataProvider.refresh();
    glossaryAutoComplete.setText("Aggression");
    } catch (Exception e) {
    error("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    log("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"), e);
    First I can't overloolk the consequences of hard-coding "Default" in the prerender() method, everthing seems to work fine...
    Second it doesn't seem to matter whether I use setValue("Default") or setText("Default"), to set the initial display value of the auto complete text field...
    Third I really don't understand why hard coding works and the following code, especially the: glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam") bit, doesn't
    public void prerender() {
    if (glossaryAutoComplete.getValue() == null ) {
    try {
    glosseDataProvider.cursorFirst();
    getSessionBean1().getGlossaryRowSet().setObject(1, glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    glossaryDataProvider.refresh();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    error("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"));
    log("Cannot switch to glosse " + glosseDataProvider.getValue("glosse.glossenaam"), e);
    Could anyone of you shed some light in this darkness?
    Kind regards,
    Annet

  • AJAX AutoComplete problem with arabic

    I'm using Ajax AutoComplete component in my project by creating the String array (String[]) from a table created in database
    The Ajax AutoComplete component work fine with English data but when working with Arabic data it gives me an empty list...!!!!
    does any one know why this is happening with Arabic data?
    this is my code for creating the string array:
    public String[] getNames() {
            RowKey rowKeys[] = namesDP.getAllRows();
            names =  new String[rowKeys.length];
            for (int i = 0; i < rowKeys.length; i++) {
                namesDP.setCursorRow(rowKeys);
    names[i] = namesDP.getValue("NAME").toString();
    return this.names;
    }NAME is the field that holds the English data and for Arabic i just change it to NAME1 which holds the Arabic data

    I am trying to use Ajax4jsf on my JSC project. This is bizarre but when ever i have a page fragment component in my page the ajax4jsf stops re-rendering. The code is as following.

    Hi Sapan
    I am a newbie to AJAX4JSF . I think it provides Rapid Application Development just by using tags like a4j: without the need to develop complex JSF Custom Components as shown in BluePrints Catalog

  • RegionRenderer encodeAll The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance.

    Hi,
    I am using JDEV 11.1.2.1.0
    I am getting the following error :-
    <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.
    Piece of code is for region is:-
       <f:facet name="second">
                                                <af:panelStretchLayout id="pa1"
                                                                       binding="#{backingBeanScope.Assign.pa1}">
                                                    <f:facet name="center">
                                                        <af:region value="#{bindings.tfdAssignGraph1.regionModel}" id="r1"
                                                                   binding="#{backingBeanScope.Assign.r1}"/>
                                                    </f:facet>
                                                </af:panelStretchLayout>
                                            </f:facet>
    How do I resolve it ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I see at least 3 errors
    1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
    the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
    2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
    check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
    3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
    "pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region

  • Why does Creator changes Component ID in Page Fragment?

    When you embed a page fragment in a page, the component ID changes to:
    form1.Page.PageFragment.componentIDThe problem is that I have some JavaScript functions in my page fragment and I am re-using the page fragment across many pages. This causes my JavaScript functions to break, specially when I use
    getElementByID("ID") or getElementByName("Name")Any work arounds or any way to force Creator not to append PageFragment in component ID?

  • Customize AJAX Blueprint Autocomplete component ?

    Customize AJAX Blueprint Autocomplete component ?
    Can you control the size of the result box generated ?
    Can you control what happens when you click on a result row in the result box ?
    I would like to specify the size of the result box, and possible also the placement/position.
    I would also like to use the result and replace that result with another result, or for example populate a different listfield with it..
    Anybody got any ideas on this ?
    As usual, I have searched with google and on *.sun.com without any luck in finding this information, read articles, documentation and blogs etc....
    Kind Regards,
    Roger

    It looks like you would have to build your own custom AutoComplete component and bring it into Creator. You may have found these links already, but you'd want to start with the API spec for custom components:

  • Problem with popup in a page fragment

    JDev 11.1.2.1
    I'm using the code described here to launch popup from a backing bean.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/oct2010-otn-harvest-183714.pdf
    How-to launch a popup programmatically from Java
    Starting Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.3, instance of af:popup can be opened using a Java method on the RichPopup object. The RichPopup class is the bean implementation of the af:popup ADF Faces tag. To launch a popup from a managed bean, you first need to get a hold on to a rich popup instance, which you can do by searching it on the UIViewRoot or by referencing a JSF component binding – which you create using the "binding" property of the af:popup component tag. To open the popup you then call
    RichPopup.PopupHints ph = new RichPopup.PopupHints(); popup.show(ph);
    It works fine except when the popup is inside a page fragment.
    In IE 7 I get the javascript error message
    "this.getDomNode().parentNode' is null or not an object"
    I have also tried the following code; that works fine except when the popup is inside a page fragment.
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String popupId = popup.getClientId(context);
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExtendedRenderKitService service =
    Service.getRenderKitService(facesContext,
    ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    service.addScript(facesContext,
    "AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent('" + popupId + "').show();");
    Any idea how to launch a popup in a page fragment?

    Since this is working for others I'm working on a test case to send to oracle.
    I'll try to give more information.
    Main.jspx
    has a region for Child.jsff using a bounded task flow.
    <af:region value="#{bindings.Child.regionModel}" id="r1"/>
    Child.jsff has a popup bound to backing bean and a button that calls java to open the popup.
    Child.jsff has its own set of bindings. It is not inherting parent bindings.
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

    <af:commandButton text="testPopup" id="cb1" actionListener="#{TestBacking.test}"/>
    TestBacking.java

    this.testPop = testPop;
    public RichPopup getTestPop() {

  • How to use same page fragment more than once in a page,

    Hi Gurus,
    How to use same page fragment more than once in a page. I have a complex page fragment which has lots of Bindings (Binding Property set with backingBean variables).
    I want to use the same page fragment multiple times on the same page with different tabs.
    I want different ApplicationModule Instance for the page fragment in different tabs.
    So I have created a Bounded Taskflow with pagefragments which has this complex pagefragment.
    I've dragged the taskflow to page and created regions.
    I'm able to execute the page successfully when I have only one region but fails if I have region more than once in the page.
    Can anyone help me how to resolve this issue.
    Web User Interface Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework: section 19-2 states we can have same pagefragment more than once in a page.
    Thanks,

  • How can I include a dynamic content in the page fragment?

    My header.jspf contains codes similar to the following in the init() method:
    Object o =getValue("#{sessionScope.username}");
    if(o!=null){
    greetingStaticText.setRendered(true);
    }else{
    greetingStaticText.setRendered(false);
    But this code is not working as expected.
    I tried the following in the jsp page, but still no use:
    <jsp:include page="../Header.jspf"/>
    Thanks.

    Before the initial render, your logic sets rendered false. Then on the postback when the user logs in, init executes (setting it false again); the static text is overwritten with the corresponding static text object from the component tree; and subsequently the action method executes (setting username in session); the page redisplays, with rendered still false. You can overcome this by setting the rendered property from your action method. Here are steps that simulate the solution:
    1. Create a property in SessionBean1 called username of type String.
    2. Drag a Page Fragment Box onto Page1. Create a fragment called Fragment1.
    3. Drag a Hyperlink onto Page1. Set its text to "Go to Login Page" and its url property to /faces/Login.jsp.
    4. Double-click to edit Fragment1.
    5. Drag a Static Text. Set its id to greetingText and its text to "Welcome, #{SessionBean1.username}!"
    6. Drag a Hyperlink. Set its id to logoutHyperlink and its text to "Logout"
    7. Double click the logoutHyperlink and use the following code:
    public String logoutHyperlink_action() {
    getSessionBean1().setUsername(null);
    greetingText.setRendered(false);
    logoutHyperlink.setRendered(false);
    return "Page1";
    8. Append the following to Fragment1.init():
    String username = getSessionBean1().getUsername();
    greetingText.setRendered(username != null);
    logoutHyperlink.setRendered(username != null);
    9. Implement these two methods as follows:
    public void setGreetingText(StaticText st) {
    boolean rendered = this.greetingText.isRendered();
    st.setRendered(rendered);
    this.greetingText = st;
    public void setLogoutHyperlink(Hyperlink h) {
    boolean rendered = this.logoutHyperlink.isRendered();
    h.setRendered(rendered);
    this.logoutHyperlink = h;
    10. Create a new page called Login.
    11. Drag a Page Fragment Box onto Login.jsp (choose Fragment1.jspf).
    12. Drag a Text Field and bind its text property to #{SessionBean1.username}
    13. Drag a button. Set its id to loginButton and its text to "Login"
    14. Double-click loginButton and use the following code:
    public String loginButton_action() {
    ((UIComponent)getValue("#{Fragment1.greetingText}")).setRendered(true);
    ((UIComponent)getValue("#{Fragment1.logoutHyperlink}")).setRendered(true);
    return "Page1";
    15. Open Page Navigation and create an outcome called "Page1" that goes from Login.jsp to Page1.jsp.
    16. Run the app.
    17. Page1 displays with no greeting text. Click the "Go to Login Page" link.
    18. Type "misty" in the text field and click the Login button.
    19. Page1 displays, this time with the greeting text "Welcome, misty!" and a Logout hyperlink.
    20. Click the Logout hyperlink to logout. Page1 displays, this time with no greeting text or Logout hyperlink.

  • Ajax Autocomplete Tabular does not work using apex_item.text in SQL Query.

    Hello,
    Is it possible to use the search function which is used in, Dennis Kubicek example, ENAME topic Ajax Autocomplete Tabular
    in a sql query using apex_items?
    Query line :
    , apex_item.text(17,xp.part_nr,null,null,'onfocus="f_register(this);" autocomplete="off"') PART
    At first I followed the example by adding 'onfocus="f_register(this);" autocomplete="off" in the element attributes in the report field.
    This didn't work... so tried to add the it in the attirbutes parameter of the apex_item.
    But this still doesn't work. No errors are given, it does not respond.
    Could somebody please help me?
    Thx!
    Astrid

    Well, I'm trying to take this one step further, but I seem to be having some difficulty.
    I'm trying to make a Filter screen to create a dynamic where clause filter screen.
    This is a page I made with Popup LOVS, just to show you my goal (now trying to use autofilters)
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=29989:5
    I have a table on my system that tells you where the field is, and I'm using that to get the table (didn't want to change the javascript, so I pass in a static value).
    This is the javascript code I used
    <pre>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function f_register(p_this,p_name)
    var p_registered = $x('P5_ITEM_ID').value;
         var p_this_name = $x(p_this).id;
    //alert(p_this_name);
    if (p_registered != p_this_name)
    register(p_this_name, "COSTING_M", p_name, "blue", "red");
    $x('P5_ITEM_ID').value = p_this_name;
    </script>
    </pre>
    This is my query
    <pre>
    select column_name || apex_item.hidden(1,column_name) Col_name,
    apex_item.SELECT_LIST_FROM_lov(2,'=','OPERATOR') OPERATOR,
    apex_item.text (3,
    NULL,
    20,
    200,
    'onfocus="f_register(this,''' || column_name || ''');" autocomplete="off"',
    'f3_' || '#ROWNUM#',
    NULL
    ) value,column_id
    from user_tab_cols
    where table_name = 'COSTING_M'
    ORDER BY ROWNUM
    </pre>
    and here is my on-demand process
    <pre>
    declare
    TYPE CurTyp IS REF CURSOR;
    v_row varchar2(4000);
    rec CurTyp;
    V_TABLENAME NKW.UTFIELD_M.TABLE_NAME%TYPE;
    begin
    BEGIN
    SELECT TABLENAME INTO V_TABLENAME
    FROM NKW.UTFIELD_M
    WHERE FIELD_NAME = :TF_SL_COLUMN;
    EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN RETURN; END;
    :TF_SL_SEARCH := replace(:TF_SL_SEARCH, '&amp;','&');
    :TF_SL_SEARCH := replace(:TF_SL_SEARCH, '&lt;','<');
    :TF_SL_SEARCH := replace(:TF_SL_SEARCH, '&gt;','>');
    :TF_SL_SEARCH := replace(:TF_SL_SEARCH, '&quot;','"');
    owa_util.mime_header('text/xml', FALSE);
    htp.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
    htp.p('Pragma: no-cache');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    htp.prn('<rowset>');
    open rec for
    'select distinct ' || :TF_SL_COLUMN || ' ' ||
    'from NKW.' || V_TABLE_NAME || ' ' ||
    'where '||:TF_SL_COLUMN||' like :1||''%'' ' ||
    'and rownum < 100 ' ||
    'order by '||:TF_SL_COLUMN
    using :TF_SL_SEARCH;
    loop
    fetch rec into v_row;
    exit when rec%NOTFOUND;
    htp.prn('<row>' || htf.escape_sc(v_row) || '</row>');
    end loop;
    htp.prn('</rowset>');
    end;
    </PRE>
    I made some slight mods to make the table dynamic from my source table (this is to grab master files when they exist and not to when they don't).
    I get my select list, but it's blank on all fields, any suggestions?
    thanks,
    Scott

  • Programmatically Load Query Component on Page Load

    Hi All.
    We have a requirement in which we need to populate the fields of a query component and execute the query...upon loading of the page.
    Our use case:
    We have a page in which there is an analytic showing counts of requests in different status (i.e. Open, Closed, In Process).
    Status Count
    ==== ====
    Closed _5_
    Open _3_
    In Process _6_
    When the user clicks on the count (which is a hyperlink) we want to take them to the "Search for Requests" page with the criteria filled out and the query automatically executed. For example, if the user clicks on the count of "5" (for Closed)....they will be transferred to the "Search for Requests" page. The query field of "Status" will be defaulted with "Closed" and the query automatically executed (with the 5 requests shown in the result set).
    We are using page fragments (.jsff) in bounded ADF task flows.
    I am thinking that we need to set up a default activity in the "Search for Requests" task flow that will call the AM Impl method to handle this on the model side but I am unclear on how to programmatically set the criteria that is used in a query component?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    D

    In the processRequest of your controller you can invoke a method in the AM which in turn invokes a method in the Search VO which sets the where clause and executes the query.

    "a user error"
    Well I followed your book! Chapter 6 of the "Oracle Fusion Developer Guide - Working with Bounded Task Flows in ADF Regions". I think this comes back to book writer error. I found almost no mention of BackingBeanScope in this chapter. Don't you think this would be an important note?
    "did you know that there is a Java API (on the RichPopup instance) to launch a popup ?"
    Yes I posted in my code! If you read the above code you would see it there.
    I don't really understand why the scope of the bean has anything to do with af:showPopupBehavior or AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent.
