Album art not showing consistently on iPhone *lockscreen*

iTunes occasionally has trouble with album art, especially after syncs or updates (album art disappearing, or being reshuffled to the wrong mp3s, etc.).
The current problem is different. Normally, with the iPhone's (iPod) music playing, the album art will replace the wallpaper on the lock screen. Lately, this feature has stopped being consistent. Some tracks will display album art on the lock screen, some won't. Those that won't, do have album art embedded (100% certain of this). In one instance, the album art displayed was a mishmash of two different albums' art (again, only on the lock screen). Editing the mp3s to reinsert the album art in iTunes, and then re-syncing, has not solved the problem.
This is probably an issue with how iTunes is handling/editing those mp3s affected, or it may be an iPhone bug. There's nothing outstanding about the specific tracks in question - in every other way they appear to be normal (write enabled, and album art showing in track info).
This problem only occurs @ the lock screen. In iPod view, and album view, display of the album art is normal for all tracks.
I have noticed this also happening with other audio sources (ie, third party audio streaming apps, which normally show some kind of album art @the lock screen).
Thanks for any feedback.

I too have been having this issue & I've read the articles, advices & other discussions, but none of them fixes this issue. I reboot & still see the wrong album art on the lock screen. It is very annoying especially when you have iTunes with software that was purchased to "automajically" present the correct album artwork. For those of us who actually precise about how our libraries are organized this is a big deal. You spends hours days in keeping things organized, just for the sync to not resemble the labor...
I have both the iPhone 4 & an iPod Touch 2nd gen. You'd think Apple would get stuff like this together before approving it for an update. No one can convince me different... Apple & Windows now both have the same MO! Get a new team of testers.

  • Album Art Not Showing Up on iPhone 4

Hey guys, i need some help from the experts.
My some album art is not showing up on my iPhone 4. My iTunes library in on an external HD so I'm not sure if that's the cause of it. How can I this? Of course, when I synched my iPhone 4 with my Mac the HD is connected so one would think the album artwork would transfer or be synched as well but no go. I would appreciate any help. thanks!

Hello, hello, hello, ... is there anybody out there?
I can't figure it out. I have been trying for the last few hours now and I'm going nuts. The album art shows up in Windows Media Player and on my 4 year old Philips mp3 player.
All of my music has been purchased. I don't know if that makes any difference or not, but I thought I'd mention it. I used iTunes to put the music on my iPhone 4. I use the iPod player on the phone.
Again, thanks in advance for your time and help!

  • Album art not showing up on iPhone

    Dear Apple Community,
Over the past few months, my iPhone does not show the album art when I play music. I have been using iPod/iPhone for over a decade now and I always like to have album art to keep my music organized. When I play a song, the album art will say "Missing". I have scrolled through my songs and none of my 2000+ songs have album art. I have been using my iPhone 4S for 3 years now and this problem has only happened over the past few months. I even updated to the newest software yesterday, but the problem persists. My music on my iTunes all have album art and it should sync to my phone, right?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Album Art not showing up?

Has anyone else had a problem with their album art not showing up in coverflip? These are all CD's that I own and ripped onto my computer with iTunes, and if I look at them in iTunes I can see the cover art. But when I turn my ipod sideways to flip through the albums, I see a bunch of black squares. Some of the albums I can see the artwork when it's not the selected album, but if I scroll to it, the art disappears and it's just an empty black square. The only albums where this seems to work properly are the ones I bought and downloaded digitally through iTunes, but most of my music collection is CD's, so I'm really hoping there's a way to fix this.
I've already tried googling pictures of the album art and re-tagging the songs with the picture on there, and it does do a sync afterwards, but I'm still seeing black squares. I also tried deleting one of the albums from my ipod entirely, and reloading it, and that worked the first time I went into coverflip, but in subsequent tries it has reverted back to being just a black square.

use the search discussions box. there are loads of threads on this. you definitely aren't alone
the only real solution i've seen is to re-sync the problem tracks, i've probably missed some though, so it's worth looking around.

  • Album art not showing on other Mac

On my iMac all the album art was present in iTunes. After matching and uploading all the songs (afterwards I deleted them and redownloaded to get the 256kbps version) everything was still ok on my iMac. However on my MacBook Pro only several cd's display album art. I can't really seem to find out why some have and why some don't have the album art, it seems to be random. On my iPhone 4 most of the album art is showing, with just a few exceptions. For this I also have no explanation.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Kind regards,
    Ken Hermans - Belgium

Make sure that in iTunes on the music tab for the ipod you have a checkmark in the box saying "Show Album Artwork on Ipod" or something along those lines. If it is not checked, do so and click apply. If it is checked then uncheck it and click apply. Then recheck it and click apply. This should get the artwork on the ipod. It may take awhile depending on how many tracks you have that have artwork.

  • Podcast album art not showing

We just created a podcast feed and have not been able to get the Album art to show up.  I contacted iTunes Store Support and they were unable to help and directed me to this forum.
As far as I can tell, our feed is correctly formed, but the album art still isn't displaying.  I've read that a number of users have had problems with this?  If someone from Apple is monitoring this forum, could you please help?  Our podcast feed is: http://www.pky.com/prs/prs-podcasts/prs-podcast-feed.aspx
    Thanks.

Also have this problem.  Any help is appreciated.

  • Album art not showing up under Artists

I just bought my 120GB ipod last week. It was working fine, but now the album art that shows up next to each album under "Artists" is not showing up. The art is there if I select a song from one of those albums. This didn't happen before...is there something wrong?
Also, I was listening to a playlist on shuffle, and when I clicked to go to the next song, it kept skipping to the next song like it was stuck in that mode. What's going on with that?

It's likely that the artwork cache is corrupted.
It's a simple fix by unchecking "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.
Then check "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod again.
This should resync the album artwork to the iPod.

  • Album Art not making it to iPhone 4S correctly

My Macbook Pro & PC running iTunes 11.01.12 do not transfer correct album art to my iPhone 4S. While playing music some ablum art looks like picture of a music video, or playing Snoop Dogg showing a picture of Mariah Carey

Sadly, there are lots of bugs syncing Smart Playlists on iPhones. Sort orders are lost, sometimes they don't come over, etc.
One thing that I've found is that if I sync and immediately unplug my iPhone, content is sometimes missing. I've found that leaving my iPhone plugged in for a minute or two after sync often fixes the problem. (!!)
If your stuff still doesn't come over, some people report that adding a rule to your smart playlist that says "Playlist is music" (or whatever) helps. Other people report that adding additional rules causes problems. I don't think there's a clear consensus, but, in short, try playing around with your smart playlists, either adding that "playlist is music" rule, or, if you've already got a bunch of rules, try simplifying them if you can.
Sorry I don't have a good answer. If you want to join us who have reported the bugs to Apple, please visit:

  • Album art not showing up with recent update

With a recent iTunes update (10.2 or 10.2.1) suddenly the album art for a bunch of my music is not being detected anymore. This is album art that I've added to the files myself, and it's music not from iTunes Store. Other music of mine doesn't seem to be affected; it's only the music that I added album art myself. These songs were working just fine before the update, and still work in other programs. I'm having trouble determining specifically just what about the files is upsetting iTunes.

I'm having the same exact problem.
I've been reading up this morning on the different ways to correct this, and none of them work. Here's what I've tried:
    - Manually add artwork to the album
    - Advanced>Get Album Artwork
On older iTunes I'm getting the impression that you could go to your iPod/iPhone, click MUSIC, and then click something like "Allow/Enable (?) Album Artwork. Not finding it on iTunes 10.
    Help!

    None

  • Album Art not showing on iPod

This has been an annoying problem the past several years of using iTunes, I was able to get some versions of the iTunes to work but I just uploaded the new 7.5 iTunes version...and when I try to add an album art to the songs on my iPod they don't show up except on iTunes.
Is this iTunes version being screwy? Anyone else with the same problem, anyone with a solution?

I'm having the same problem, iTunes could not find the album art for several imported albums so I scanned the cover, it shows on iTunes perfectly but not on my iPod

  • Album art not showing in album list view

the album art is there, has been manually added, but is not always showing in album list view.
none of the albums has been purchased from itunes, all are manual import from physical cds, where the album art has been added manually.
albums seem to either show or not show album art (i.e. it appears to be the same for all albums every time i start itunes. restarting itunes also does not help). re-adding album art does not make any difference.
this started to happen several software updates ago and has continued until the current version.
does anyone know how to force itunes to display album art?
    thanks

iTunes > view > always show artwork

  • Album art not showing in album list but is there

In the list of albums, some of the album art is not showing, but when I click to view the song list, it is there. See screenshot which explains it much  better.
Any ideas on how to fix. (Reimporting album art does not work)

Gonna give this a bit of a bump - sorry.

  • Album Art - Not showing all in Album View or Cover Flow

Recently I redid my Itunes Libary where with one artist with songs from several different albums, (and album artwork), renamed the album under Get Info to "Greatest Hits". Now, the specific album art for each song shows when the song is playing, but under Album View/Cover Flow only one Album Art shows for each artist. Assume this had something to do with my renaming multiple songs for the artist to Greatest Hits. Is there any way to get back the specific Album Art for each song under Album View/Cover Flow? Thanks.

If you are only adding it to one song, that won't work. Itunes itself does this for artwork that it finds automatically, but if you want to add them yourself you have to add the artwork to every track. Find the track that you added the artwork to copy the artwork using command - C , then select all of the tracks at the same time in itunes, do a get info and paste the artwork into the artwork window of the tagging window.

  • Album Art not showing in full screen?

    Hi,
I added artwork to audio tracks on my Ipod Nano, this process seems easy enough but when the song is playing and I click the center button to expand the art work it doesn't display in full screen. It displays as almost a thumbnail centered in a white background. If I go into the Photos section of the ipod and display the artwork it displays in full screen. So it seems as if images can't display in full screen while a song is playing. I changed the aspect ratio and size of the image but it doesn't affect how the image is displayed when audio is playing. Can anyone help me find a way to get this artwork in full screen mode with audio. I know some of you may be thinking who cares, but this Ipod is being used for a museum, the audio is of the artist and the artwork should display while the artist is speaking. When the art work displays as a thumbnail its hard to make out. I hope my explanation isn't too confusing I found this when I googled the problem http://www.tunequest.org/ipod-album-art-size-limit/20070426/ this person is having the same problem that I am but no one has an answer for him.
    Best Wishes,
    The Louse~

It displays as almost a thumbnail centered in a white background.
Correct. Even at full screen, the album artwork has a white border (especially at the sides) and the words "now playing" across the top. It does not use the whole of the screen.
