Alias name error

Hi
I am trying to update the alias for a dimension using rules file , i have given allow move and allow property change option but still its not working
i am getting this error
Alias Curr Yr already used for another member
but strangely i tried it for another dimension and its working fine.
Please advice
Thanks
Umar

I'll guess that the Curr Yr is already on another member. do yoiu have mutiple alias tables? It's possible it's on a secondary table. You can not move an alias from amember to another member. Say you have Curr Yr on FY08 and you want it on FY09. You would have to do one of two things,
1. have two load rules The first that changes the alias on FY08 that you run first, then a second rule that adds it to FY09
2. Still have two load rule. the first that removes the members from the dimension using remove unspecified and the second that readds all the years with the current aliases.
Of cours this does not solve the problem if the alias is on another diemsion. TO test what member the alias is on, go into excel, set up a sheet with the dimensions and (do not have aliases turned on) and for your ytears dimension type in the alias and try to retrieve, it will show you want member has that alias. If it is anothe dimension, it will give you an error about mixing multiple members from a single dimension

  • SQL query alias names errors with dynamic lists

    Hullo,
    Problem:
    - Made a query form book database. Have authors in separate table with unique ID's referring to them on book table.
    - Query fetches author name in "Surname, Firstname initial.Secondfirstname initial" format, --> like "Bukowski, H.C" and giving that combo alias name in SQL like "AS 'author'"...
    - Dynamic list works fine at start, but when ordered from detail table back to the mainlisting, it does make an error with SQL stating "unknown column 'author' in where clause"
    That must be because the script looks for "author" column from the original table yeah, but how can I solve this? Any ideas? Does this mean that Alias names for columns are not possible or is there something i've missed?
    Any ideas, suggestions?
    Thanks,
    KimmoK

    Hi Kimmo,
    ADDT´s dynamic lists can handle alias columns fine to my experience, but I reckon that you most probably applied the "CONCAT(...) AS author" query modification after having generated the list, and the list´s internal WHERE clause seems to have no clue of this alias column.
    You can get an idea about using alias columns in Dynamic Lists in my tutorial "Dynamic Lists: exploring the Filter Conditions": http://www.guenter-schenk.com/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=6
    Can you please post the list´s code on your server as text file (e.g. code.txt) and provide a link to this file ?

  • SQL query - Alias name (value) as parameter to an Oracle function

    Hi,
    I have a sql query something like
    Select tbl1.valueA, tbl1.valueB, tbl2.valueX, MAX(CASE tbl2.valueY = 'XX' THEN tbl2.valueZ END) AS "ValueZ header", Function(tbl1.valueB, tbl2.valueX, "valueZ header")
    FROM table1 tbl1
    JOIN table2 tbl2 ON tbl1.id = tbl2.tbl1id
    WHERE ...
    my problem is that I need the value from MAX statement as parameter to the function and I have tried to use the alias name (valueZ header) but this is not working. I guess because of some syntax error. Can I use alias name as parameter into the function at all - if - how should I do this?

    You could repeat the entire MAX (CASE ...) expression as the 3rd argumnet to your function, or you could compute it once in a sub-query, then reference the column alias as often as you like in the super-query, like this:
    WITH     got_valuez_header     AS
         Select  tbl1.valueA
         ,     tbl1.valueB
         ,     tbl2.valueX
         ,     MAX ( CASE
                            WEHN  tbl2.valueY = 'XX'     -- Don't forget the keyword WHEN
                      THEN      tbl2.valueZ
                    END
                  )          AS "ValueZ header"
         FROM         table1     tbl1
         JOIN         table2     tbl2     ON     tbl1.id     = tbl2.tbl1id
         WHERE          ...
         GROUP BY     ...
    Select  tbl1.valueA
    ,     tbl1.valueB
    ,     tbl2.valueX
    ,     "ValueZ header"
    ,     Function_x ( tbl1.valueB     -- FUNCTION is not a good name for a function
                 , tbl2.valueX
                 , "ValueZ header"     -- Case-sensitive

  • Issue with Column Alias Name in a SELECT statement

    I am trying to run sql query(IN ORACLE) to get the data from a remote database(TERADATA). The query is
    select (table1.exp_date - table1.setup_date) AS day_diff,
    CASE
    WHEN day_diff = '0'
    THEN 'YES'
    WHEN day_diff > '0'
    THEN 'NO'
    ELSE 'Unknown'
    END AS alias_type
    from table1@remote_database_name;
    The query is running fine when I run it in TERADATA environment directly without the remote database link since it is not necessary. If I run the above query in Oracle I am getting an error ORA-00904: invalid identifier.(this error is pointing to day_diff alias name)
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

    The Column alias can be used in the ORDER BY clause, but not other clauses,like WHERE clause, in the query.
    Use..
    select (table1.exp_date - table1.setup_date) AS day_diff,
    CASE
    WHEN (table1.exp_date - table1.setup_date) = '0'
    THEN 'YES'
    WHEN (table1.exp_date - table1.setup_date) > '0'
    THEN 'NO'
    ELSE 'Unknown'
    END AS alias_type

    Am I missing some configuration that points the to the keystore I need ?

    Hi Sajal,
    Try this:
    follow these steps:
    ->Launch the Visual Administrator
    ->Goto to Services…Key Storage
    ->Choose load and select the file containing the certificate (.cer or .crt file)
    As the XI configuration will refer to the certificate by name, the name should be somewhat self-describing. The certificate name should not include any date or time.
    Reward points if this helps

  • Replacing alias names

    Hello All,
    My oracle version is 11g mounted on a linux box.
    I have a table with set of select queries inserted as CLOB with in it.
    They are queries extracted from dba sources with plsql variables in the query. I have to generate explain plan for each of it.
    I have followed the below logic ,
    first i removed all the oracle key words and column names by comparing all_tab_cols and table names by comparing dba_tables.
    left out is the variables and alias names.
    if i replace the alias names , i ll end up with the variables and hence i will supply the variables with actual olumn values after that.
    but my problem is that i dont know how to replace alias name in this clob column.
    should i be using regular expression where there is a way to replace the "occurence of every second string between a select and a ',' or two ',' "
    or should i proceed with the usual substr and instr and write a pl sql logic for the same.
    Also is my approach the best to generate explain plan for queries involved in all pl sql in all packages.
    Thanks in advance ,
    Vijay G

    Hi John
    Restored back the schema, alias names now appearing in the Planning but not in EAS console. I tried refreshing the database by choosing the Incremental update from Hyperion Desktop Client, it just completed in a second. Then I went and check in the EAS console but no alias information pushed to Essbase.
    Then I perform Full Database Refresh, at the end of it, encountered the below error.
    Error Detected:
    *(MoveMember: 0): Could not move member (Source, destination) : [5101015, 510101DD)*
    -2147218899
    Actually, I have 5 schemas for planning application. I restored only Planning schema(where Planning app Configured). DO I need to restore all the 5 schemas to fix this issue?
    If not required, could you please tell what could be the reason for the above error. Please help.
    Thanks, UB

  • How to use Alias name in OData service in SAP HANA

    Hi,
         I need to change one column name with alias of another name in odata service definition or odata url running in rest client. I am trying to give alias name with as key in the service definition like sql query.
    ex:
    There is one table with column name of PRODUCT_ID. I exporting that table via odata service to SAP UI. In the UI i dont want the product id column as PRODUCT_ID. It should be ike "Prodcut". Like we are using in SQL example
    select "PRODUCT_ID" as "Product" from "producttab";
    But i can't use as key for alias name. So i am getting syntax error.
    I have tried in rest client also ie executing odata file in rest based service. But i got error only.
    If anyone knows about this alias name in odata service, Please help me to resolve this issue..

    Hi Thomas
         Thanks for your reply.
         Actually in odata service definition i am using attribute and calculation views only. But in some case from the model view itself i need to use some alias names to the UI through odata service.
         For example in attribute view i have some columns with name col1,col2... I am getting those columns in UI using  odata service, for particular col2 column i need to change column name as product. And i am using the same view as source of another odata service in that service i need to change that column name as productname.
         In that case i need alias name usage. So that only i am searching alias keyword in odata service.
         Is there any possibility to use alias names in odata service.

  • Using alias name from view

    Can I create somehow a view like this one:
    CREATE VIEW clerk_view AS
       SELECT employee_id as ei, last_name as ln, department_id as di
       FROM employees
       WHERE job_id = 'PU_CLERK' ;and using this view with aliases, e.g.:
    select * from clerk_view where ln = 'Mickey';
    My Oracle database version is 11.2.0.3
    Best.

    Hi,
    lesak wrote:
    So can you tell me what I'm missing in above CREATE statement? Sorry, no, not without knowing exactly what you're doing. That's why you need to post a complete test script that people can run to re-create the problem. Except for the identifier LN, there's nothing wrong with the code you posted per se , but there could be millions of things wrong with how how you're trying to use it. Even if I could post millions of suggestions, you wouldn';t want to read them all, just to fond the one or two that apply to your case. So way exactly what your case is. Post a complete test script that creates and populates the table (if necessay), calls the view, tries to use the view, and gets the error.
    When I create view in the same way in production and use alias name, I've got following error: ORA-00904. Not everyone who wants to help you has all the error codes memorized. That's why you should post the complete error message.
    So Oracle don't know that my employee_id or other column have also alias name?!Sure, it will know the alias name. That's exactly what aliases are for.

  • Flexible column alias name?

    Hi
    Is that a way to assign the column alias name at run time.
    Example: I want to sums a column and label it based on the current year.
    For 2007, I should have:
    SELECT
    ‘A’
    ‘B’,
    ‘C’,
    sum(RESERVE_AMT) AS RESERVE_AMT_2007
    FROM table_name
    For 2006 I should have:
    SELECT
    ‘A’
    ‘B’,
    ‘C’,
    sum(RESERVE_AMT) AS RESERVE_AMT_2006
    FROM table_name
    For 2005 I should have:
    SELECT
    ‘A’
    ‘B’,
    ‘C’,
    sum(RESERVE_AMT) AS RESERVE_AMT_2005
    FROM table_name
    Etc.
    For some reason I need a sql (something like above) in the procedure to be run in each year and populate a column labeled the current year concatenated with a fix string such as RESERVE_AMT_2007.
    Thanks.

  • ORA-15124: ASM file name contain invalid alias name after creating standby

    OS level: redhat 5
    db version: 11gr2
    I just created a standby using rman duplicate from active database and the rman duplicate ran successful.
    Then I modified parameter files on standby to include the current controlfile and try to start the db as mounted, I got following error:
    SQL> startup mount;
    ORA-15124: ASM file name '+DAT/prds/controlfile/current.913.794712357, +FRA/prds/controlfile/current.5616.794712357' contains an invalid alias name
    SQL> exit
    I could not figure out what went wrong here.
    Those are two most current controlfile created during duplicate of db.
    I double checked everythng, everything else seems working.
    What should I look at now?
    Thanks for help as always.

    SQL> startup mount;
    ORA-15124: ASM file name '+DAT/prds/controlfile/current.913.794712357, +FRA/prds/controlfile/current.5616.794712357' contains an invalid alias name
    SQL> exit
    The parameter control_files in pfile/spfile should have value as '+DAT/prds/controlfile/current.913.794712357','+FRA/prds/controlfile/current.5616.794712357'
    It looks like you have missed out the adding quotes to each controlfile path and you have specified both the files under one quote.

  • Changing alias name

    When I build the rule particular member (a) had different alias name;
    a<plant location>
    now, the alias name has been changed, when I run the same build rule, it s throwing an error msg
    Property [CLOSED-DON¿T USE] changes for member [a] not allowed (3315)
    Does that mean, I need to create another rule file to adopt that change?
    seems like, users change so frequently, it is not practical to create new rule file everyday? any suggestion?
    NOTE: I am extracting data from multiple tables using sql query
    Thank you so much

    Try going to the dimension build settings for the rule, select the dimension and enable allow property changes, more information at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/eas_help/dbdbstdb.html

  • Alias Name in Cursor

    begin
    for i in (select 'my message' as "lower_title" from dual) loop
    dbms_output.put_line(i.lower_title);
    end loop;
    end;
    If i happen to represent the alias name in the lower case then i am getting the error message as "12:16:17 PM PLS-00302: component 'LOWER_TITLE' must be declared
    ".Above programme perfectly works if i have lower_title in the upper case.
    Regards
    Saravanan

    .In my code,i want to use "lower_title" in lower case, but it is not allowing me to do.It is really daft to use lower case in code. One of the joys of PL/SQL is precisely that it isn't case sensitive.
    And it's precisely because PL/SQL is case-sensitive that the double quotes are utterly redundant....
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> BEGIN
      2    FOR i IN (SELECT 'my message' AS lower_title FROM dual)
      3    LOOP
      4        dbms_output.put_line(i.lower_title);
      5    END LOOP;
      6  END;
      7  /
    my message
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
