Align OCR'd Text to Left

Hi,
    I have recently scanned in several pages from a document and have run it through OCR. All is well, except that the text on some pages is not left aligned with the text on subsequent pages (see example in picture below):
Each page is slightly differently misaligned from the others, and I don't want to have to realign it all manually. Is there a method of automatically aligning the text vertically in an automatic fashion after doing OCR on a document?

Not directly. You can use the Object Touchup tool to move the whole block and the crop tool to make things consistent. That may be a bit more manual than you like. I don't think it can be automated.

  • How can I align two different text row in the same table in two different way (one centered and the other one on the left)?

    Hi,
    I want to center two different text row that are in the same table but one on the center and the other one on the left. I put a <span> tag hoping that it has been overwhelmed the table's class properties The .bottomsel's font-family and the .Cig84's font-family and colour work but the text-align don't: they're both on the left.
    These are my source and CSS codes:

  • Align objects to text paths?

    Hi all,
    I don't know if this is possible at all in Illustrator, but I want to align objects to text paths. Look at the following example to get an idea what I mean.
    I start with something like a circular hierarchy, that I get as an output from another program. These are only lines and text. Now I want to add a flag behind the text. This flag should have the same orientation as the text path.
    As this hierarchy is actually pretty big (this is only a snippet), I don't want to rotate all the flags manually. I tried to do it manually with the below example, but it still doesn't looks right...
    Does anyone know, if there is a proper method to rotate the flags according to the orientation of the text paths in Illustrator? Any help is much appreciated!

    I don't know of more automated way  than doing it manually. However you can make the rotation precise using the smart guides. Assuming the text is live (not outlines), this is how I would do it:
    Make sure on the View menu, there is a checkmark in front of Smart Guides (Ctrl+U)
    With a text object selected, pick the Rotate tool (R), find, and click the anchor point of the text object which will be at the left bottom side if the text is left aligned. The Smart Guides will show an "Anchor" label when the mouse cursor is over it.
    Then, away from the Anchor point, click and drag the path of the text object to rotate it until aligned horizontally or vertically to the artboard which will be indicated by the Smart Guides displaying a straight horizontal or vertical line.
    Hold Ctrl key down temporarily to switch to a selection tool and click with it the flag you want to rotate.
    Release the Ctrl key to get back to the Rotate tool and press the Enter key on your keyboard to get the Rotate dialog.
    Change the Angle value to positive if it is negative and negative if it is positive and press the OK button. On a pc you can do all of this step with three keyboard keys instead of the mouse if you press first the Home key, then Delete or Minus for changing the value to positive or negative, and finally press Enter to apply and close the dialog. The flag is now rotated with the same angle as the original orientation of the text.
    Cut (Ctrl + X) the flag, and Undo (Ctrl + z) a few times until you go back to the original orientation of the text.
    Paste (Ctrl + V) to get a copy of the rotated flag and position it in place. I can see that your skills with position the flags are much better than aligning the orientation and I don't think you need more complicated way of doing it.

  • How  to align the customise UILeftBarButton to Left in iOS7

    I have tried aligning the left bar button to the left edge of navigation bar using this code
    "addButton.contentEdgeInsets=UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 0, 0, 0);"
    but i could not get it to the left instead it get aligned  with extra 10px from left...can anyone suggest a way for that??

    Currently CSS in JFX can't really be used for layout (or sizing). It's one of those grey areas between what is styling (which should be in the CSS) and what is layout (which should be in the FXML). I think I remember Richard once mentioning in a forum or article that he did want to add alignment stuff to the CSS at some point, but don't quote me on that. You could have a search through Kenai to see if there is a feature request for it, and if not add one.
    You could maybe fake it by having the labels stretch to take up the available space in the GridPane. To do this you need to disable the max size restriction (i.e. setMaxWidth and setMaxHeight to Integer.MAX_VALUE) and ensure your GridPane constraints are such that the label will fill the cell. Once you have a stretched label the alignment will come into play as the text is aligned relative to the area of the label (as opposed to a layout manager that aligns the whole label relative to its parent). I find putting a border on the label while debugging useful to work out what is going on.
    Another, more flexible but less contained alternative might be to use variables in your FXML files. You can do this in a number of ways. One is to create a bean that has all your variables on it with getters and then you can pass this to the namespace of your FXML Loader and then reference it using stuff like ${myConstants.gridAlignment}. Another is to create static methods on a class that take a node, these can then be called from the FXML using similar notation to GridPane.alignment. This second approach only works for things where you want to work on the Node directly, but for your scenario that should be ok I think. And then there's always the option to enable a scripting language in your FXML, which allows you to do most anything.
    Hope that helps,

  • Can OCR'd text be edited?

    I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro, and working with a document, a TIFF file, that was converted to PDF and OCR'd in Acrobat. Now I need to edit some of the text using the TouchUp Text tool, but am not able to edit it. In previous versions I was able to edit OCR'd text. Is it still possible in Acrobat 9?

    Hi jay,
    Keep in mind that there are three ways to OCR with Acrobat.
    With Acrobat 8 Pro/3D:
    1.  Searchable Image
    2.  Searchable Image (Exact)
    3.  Formatted Text & Graphics
    With Acrobat 9  Pro/Pro Extended
    1.  Searchable Image
    2.  Searchable Image (Exact)
    3.  ClearScan
    Methods # 3 may be used to edit "suspects".
    Methods #1 & #2 place invisible text (text rendering mode 3). There has been and continues to be no practicable means of editing this directly.
    It is not intended to be "word processor like editable text" (but then neither is any PDF content).
    However, there is something to play with.
    If you used methods #1 or #2 and you have Acrobat Pro/Pro Extended, try the Prefight Fixup that embeds fonts.
    "Embed fonts (even if text is invisible)"
    Which is described:
    "If a PDF uses fonts which are not embedded into the PDF file they are embedded.
    This fixup embeds fonts event if they are only usef for text which is invisible (text rendering mode 3).
    It is required that the respective fonts are present in the system's font folders.
    Some fonts may have a flag indicating that their license does not allow embedding.
    In this case the fonts are not embedded into the PDF."
    I've had no occasion to use this fixup so I cannot say it will or will not serve your needs.
    But, may still be worth a run on some trial files, eh?
    "Rotated"
    The OCR characters (the "invisible text" of text rendering mode 3) are "rotated".
    Be well...

  • How to align text to left of tabbedpane

    I am trying to align my text in a tabbedpane and it only centers, is there a way to make the text within the tab left aligned?
    Here is my code:
    ================
    tabbedPane.addTab("Step 1/Campaign",null, new CampaignPanel(),"General Campaign Information");
    tabbedPane.addTab("Step 2/MOP", null, new MOPPanel(),"Method of Payment Entry");
    tabbedPane.addTab("Step 3/Shipping", null, new ShipPanel(),"Shipping Information Entry");
    I have tried to use HTML in the text by <P align="left">some text</P>, but that didn't do it.
    thanks
    Dean
    tabbedPane.addTab("Step 4/Leads", null, new LeadsPanel(),"Load and test Campaign Leads");

    If you want to change the layout of the text inside a tab, one solution is to override the layoutLabel method the BasicTabbedPaneUI... it's kinda complicated so I'm hoping someone out there has a better solution.
    Anyway, the line to look at in layoutLabel is:
    SwingUtilities.layoutCompoundLabel(
    (JComponent) tabPane,
    metrics,
    title,
    icon,
    SwingUtilities.CENTER,
    SwingUtilities.CENTER,
    SwingUtilities.CENTER,
    //SwingUtilities.TRAILING,
    SwingUtilities.CENTER,
    tabRect,
    iconRect,
    textRect,
    textIconGap);
    Here you can specify where things go in the tab. Arguments 5-8 deal with the text position and text position in relation to the image.

  • Entered text alignment in middle, not top left...how to fix?

    I have a text field that's about .5" tall. When a user enters information into the field the entered content begins in the middle of the area. As they enter more information the center alignment seems to go away and the text moves up to simulate top left alignment (the field has expand to fit on also). So, 1) do I have to make the cell smaller for it to have top left alignment and subsequently throwing off the look of the form or 2) is there a way to get the cell to have top left alignment?
    Thanks for any help!
    Becky

    You can align the input to top, middle or bootom as well as right, left or center. These settings are contained on the font palette. The palette is probably not visible to you, so go to the Window Menu and turn the font palette on (or hit the shift F4 shortcut key). Now click on th eobject you want to align and look at the Font palette. Jsut below the Tabs is a line that says what you are editinng (by default it is set to caption and value). Change it to edit just the value. Now you can set the alignment by clicking on the paragraph tab and choosing the options that you want.

  • Aligning footnote numbers to the left

    Hello,
    I am currently in the process of designing the thesis of my sister. The text - imported from word - contains several footnotes. The problem is when I placed the word document the footnote reference numbers were automatically aligned to the right. My sister would prefer to have them on the left like it was in her word document.
    How would I be able to change the footnote reference numbers from the right to the left side? (also see attached image, green circle).
    Another question not directly related to InDesign but general page layout: is 2mm "minimum space before first footnote" enough in this type of publication or what is the general distance taken for this?
    Thank you in advance

    Perfect! That did the trick...How I didn't think of that..
    Would you perhaps have any advice on the "minimum space before first footnote" ?
    Thank you !

    Hi,
    I think the problem comes from using the af:forEach element, which only stamps the components. Components that are stamped don't have a client object and just cannot be used for alignment. I think that using af:iterator is the way to do it so instances of the components are created.

  • Align page to the top left ?

    Hi everyone !
    First of all all my thanks to this great forum, it solved lots of questions in advance.
    Here´s one I couldn´t find an answer to:
    Most of the internet pages I know don´t have the page automatically centered in the browser, but have it aligned
    to the top left. So that on openinig the page you hardly ever
    see the browser background. Only if increasing browser size the background will come up on the bottom and left.
    I know that the iweb behaviour of placing the page automatically center can´t be altered easily, but maybe there is a way to do this via html ?
    Thanks for the answer !

    iweb ! Ok, so I should try to see the page source,
    find the text about window/browser placement and do
    what people do, who can read and write Jawa/html. Hm
    LOL! many people had tried to look at my page source and didn't see much there.
    I´m afraid that´s not me, but maybe you can point me
    to the lines to alter ? Besides: iweb´s behavior of
    There is no need to look for the code, iWeb code is very structural so adding the following line to the end of your page (after /html>) will do the job:
    <script type="text/javascript">document.getElementById('body_content').style.marginLeft = '0px';</script>
    Do not add the above to HTML code if you use .mac blog and its commenting system. Alter (.mac blog) HTML will potentially mess it up.

  • Controlling subtemplate text format (left-center-right justification, font)

    Hello,
    I have several sub templates that we are calling to display different text information and these sub templates are used in multiple format templates (that is the entire idea, right? <g>)
    My problem is in some of my reports I need the text to be center aligned and in some of them I need the text to be left justified, etc...
    I also would like to display the text in different sized fonts as well.
    How can I control my formatting from the driving format template instead of having it inherit the left/center/right justification that is present in my sub templates???
    Thanks in advance for your feedback,
    Scott

    Yes, that is exactly what I think I need to do (override the formatting with commands in the main template).
    I don't know if the possibilities will get that large in my case because for each main format template the formatting will remain constant.
    So I may call a subtemplate from several main format templates but in each main template I will just need to set the alignment and font-size (we use a consistent font type). Perhaps once in awhile I may need to bold something, but that should be about it.
    Please, how is this done exactly? Can you point me toward the XSL command(s) to accomplish this? Or is there something in the plug in I am missing that can accomplish this?
    We have over a dozen reports waiting for this one last tweak now and I am working with the below fo block and in this example it is coming across from the subtemplate LEFT justified (because that is how it is stored in the subtemplate) and we need it to be CENTER justified.

    Any ideas??
