All applications are freezing on print

I get as far as File -> Print and get nothing but the spinning ball. This is happening in Pages, Numbers, and Mail -- the only three programs I've tried to print out of this morning. This is happening on just one computer. I can print the same files to the same printers from a different computer, so that should rule out file and printer problems.
I was able to print without problems over the weekend. I updated software on this computer last night, but I think it was only updates to programs like Pages, Numbers, and Safari, not operating system updates. I know Mail did not have an update. I did not have to reboot after updating. In addition, I've been having problems with Time Machine being stuck in Preparing status. I'm just reporting that in case it happens to be related, though I don't see how it would be. Because of the Time Machine problems, I shut down the machine last night after the updates, unplugged the Time Machine, plugged the Time Machine back in after waiting 10-15 seconds, and turned the computer back on.
All the Apple software on the machine is current.
I'm not even sure what to try.

Uninstall McAfee. Your Mac cannot operate properly with it installed.

Whatever is preventing your Mac from printing, it's not a "virus". "Anti-virus" software cannot possibly fix it and is likely to result in additional, unrelated problems.
Consult the Apple Store if you wish, but their remedy is often to completely erase your Mac and install an unmodified copy of OS X. That nuclear option is always available but 1. you'll never know what caused the problem, meaning it's likely to recur, 2. it's overkill, and 3. you will have to reinstall your essential files and other software. Don't go near the Genius Bar without having backed up your Mac, preferably using two or more redundant backups. To learn how to do that read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
I suggest you identify the problem and fix it.

Changing printing default so not all calendars are selected to print

When I print with the new version of iCal, all calendars are selected to print by default. Under the "old" iCal (v.2.0.5) only the selected calendar (or calendars) are designated for printing. Is there a way to change the default in Leopard's iCal so that only the selected calendars print?
I have nearly 30 calendars I manage (I know this is excessive but it is a reality in my job) and I generally print only one or two calendars together at a time.

Looks like this is indeed a software bug. According to the iCal help:
+By default, the calendars that are currently selected in the main iCal window will be printed. Selecting or deselecting calendars here doesn’t affect what’s checked in the main calendar view; it only affects what’s printed.+
+If you select a calendar group, all calendars in the group are printed.+
Please fix this!!

After upgrade applications are freezing

Hello,
I've come across this strange issue after upgrading my 3GS to 3.1.3. Some of the applications are freezing. I've tried to reinstall but still no go. Apps include Evernote, AXE Pogo Xtreme etc..
Has anybody else experienced this?

Yep .. I have checked the updates for those apps .. No updates as yet.
Pardon me, I'm new to iPhone, but will this resetting of phone would result in any removal of apps and songs?

I want to see if there's a service that may be preventing it from working properly when waking from sleep. To test this, we'll need to Disable all non-system-critical services to see if the issue occurs.
If it does not, that means one of those services that was disabled, is causing the issue.
If the touchscreen is still unresponsive after sleep with all of those non-critical services disabled, then it may be something with the registry or the hardware.
Here are the steps to disable non-critical services:
Windows + Q to bring up Search
Type 'msconfig' and press Enter
Click the Services Tab
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box
Click the Disable All button
Click Apply and Restart
Once it restarts let it go into sleep mode and then wake it back up from sleep mode and test the touchscreen. Do this a couple of times, if you have time. (When you're done troubleshooting, you'll have to go back into msconfig and re-enable all of those non-critical services, apply and restart.)

All applications are missing in my applications folder. How do I get them listed again

I have a folder listed but it shows being empty. Is there any way to rebuild the folder or some correction to the problem?

I guess the OP should ignore by post as I've obviously got it wrong (no change there ). Can't explain why I have the folder on my user account though, even has the Applications icon on it. I'm certain I didn't create it myself - in fact it is empty of any applications as I'm the only user of the machines and actually have no need for the empty folder.

For some reason I am unable to install any of the adobe cc products because the cc installer window opens but it is empty . There are no apps listed .

Why do I not have access to all the features of my Canon MG5320 printer in all applications which use a printer? The printer has two paper paths. The rear path is used for photo paper and other specialty papers. this is only one "unavailable".

I have an iMac late 2012 with OSX 10.8.
The MG5320 has two paper feed paths; one at the rear for photo paper, brochure paper, and other specialty papers and a tray for regular 8½x11 paper. It also can print on CDs and DVDs and has an automatic duplexer. Canon provides a utility for printing on the CDs and DVDs and also for printing photos and other specialty items. This is available in Mac format also. I installed the most recent drivers and utilities.
I also have a HP IBM Compatible computer on which the above printer as well as an Epson are installed. Every option of each printer is available in every software application that has need for a printer.
The Mac printer dialog varies from one application to another. The only applications that list the option for selecting paper quality which includes photo paper are Office for Mac, Pages, and Numbers. Not likely that I would be using any of these for photo printing. Auto duplexing, however, is not available here or in any other applications.
The print dialog in Aperture, Photoshop Elements for Mac, ACDSee for Mac, or iPhoto provide the choice of numerous sizes of paper but no option for paper quality. Therefore, I attempted to use the print utility supplied by Canon and updated by Apple for printing some photos. The photos are selected in this utility. When the print command was given I was shown a message that the printer was being reset. It then began printing a spreadsheet, which was not even open, from the front tray on regular paper in fast draft quality.
It is essential that the rear feed be available for printing photos. The printer will not accept photo paper from the front tray. The greater proportion of my printing is photos or other specialty items all of which use paper that must be fed from the rear feed.
An acquaintence who considers himself to be somewhat of a Mac expert insists that the printer options that I require are available and all I need to do is look for them. The print dialog should be clear enough that "looking for options" is not a necessity. Even so, I have dilligently searched every variation of the Mac print dialog on my iMac and only the office type applications named above included anything other than the basic printer functions.
I have also searched numerous locations online without finding a solution. I did, however, find that printing and printing problems seem to be common with several versions of the Mac OS and Mac computers in general.
I would appreciate it if someone could provide me with a solution. I have no desire to upgrade my Windows OS to Windows 8 which is perhaps suitable for "smart" phones but not desktop computers. However, because of the printing issue I have temporarily put my iMac aside and reverted to using my PC with Windows Vista.

My Applications are Freezing

Every time i open itunes iphoto or the app store it freezes, when i try to log into my account on my mac it frezzes for a few seconds befor i can type in the password. i think i need to run a scan, do you know of any good free computer scans that can get ride of junk on my computer?

Macbook Pro + Retina, all applications are pixilated?

Hi, I just bought a new Macbook Pro with Retina display. I currently run all the Creative Cloud (CS6) Application on my iMac, so I downloaded the 'Adobe Application Manager' with my account and then downloaded the entire Creative Cloud suite onto my new laptop.
Every Application runs pixilated? Icons, Text, etc. The Application Manager says there are no updates? (Extra info example - Photoshop CS6 says: Version 13.0 x64)

This is where it can get really confusing.
In this Cloud era, there are always two versions of Photoshop: Cloud and perpetual.
Cloud version: 13.1.2 (not applicable to perpetual)
Perpetual: 13.0.4 (not applicable to Cloud, hence the screenshot you've posted)

To avoid trying to download non-applicable updates and getting errors, your best bet is to go to the individual apps and click Update from there (which, for Cloud versions, will launch the AAM)

IOS 5.1 update -all applications are gone!

Hi there,
I have just updated my iPhone4 to iOS 5.1.
When update is finish I see no application that I had on my iPhone so far.
All the contacts, photos, music, docs are fine but there are no applications. I paid for them some money and I kind of mad right now. What is going on?
The update should back them up and restore after update and nothing like this has happened.
Does anybody know any solution?

No, the update does NOT back up the apps. It backs up the app data. All of the apps should have already been in the iTunes library on your computer. If you did not transfer purchases BEFORE you started the process and they are not in iTunes now, you will have to re-download them. You can do this using the same Apple ID originally used to purchase them without being charged for them again.

Time machine backup, now all applications are gone and cant reinstall anything

My computer froze earlier today and I rebooted and I kept getting the grey loading circle. Nothing seemed to work so I loaded in safe mode and reinstalled from an earlier version of a backup i had on time machine. When the computer booted back up, all the applications on the computer were gone, replaced by little grey question marks. I had no access to the internet and none of my other time machine backups seem to have applications either.
I have tired command R to reinstall, and that doesnt work either. I have a copy of 10.6.3 Snow Leopard on disc but that doesnt work either because when I try to launch it, i get a message saying the application needed to launch snow leopard is not available.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I cant install any applications that i know of to let me install snow leopard so I am left with a brick.
I was running Lion at the time, but i have no backup copy of that, and no way to put it on here. I would like to do a clean install with snow leopard, any tips you could give me to help would be great.

What happens when you try to start holding Command and R keys?
From what I see, it looks like you restored a Snow Leopard backup onto Lion, which damages OS X.
Now, what I recommend you to do is to insert the Snow Leopard DVD you have and hold the C key while your computer is starting. Then, choose your language, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar), choose the option to restore a backup and follow the steps.
After restoring the backup, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version. Finally, upgrade to OS X Lion by downloading it from the Mac App Store

Menu bars for all applications are unusable

I have a new MacBook that was running Tiger when I opened up the box. I noticed that sometimes the Finder menu bar failed to respond when the cursor was passed over it or any item in it was clicked on (normally I'd expect to see the menu items drop down). I updated to OS to Leopard but although the menus worked for a bit, now they're acting up again. Oddly, the items to the right of the bar (Airport, Bluetooth, etc.) still work.
I looked through the threads and one of them suggested using the Disk Utility to repair permissions and zapping the PRAM, which I did. The logging from the repair didn't give up much -- just the following for a bunch of languages:
ACL found but not expected on "System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/Desktop".
Anyone think of anything that might be causing this? Maybe a software conflict with something I migrated over from the previous iBook?

Steps taken:
(1) slaved the iBook to the MacBook and migrated the configuration from the old to the new notebook. Both the iBook and the MacBook were at that time running Tiger -- the iBook has a 30GB stock hard drive in it and other than Office X and some shareware was relatively clean. The migration had one hiccup - I was using an olde version of iPhoto and when I opened it I was prompted to update the thumbnails in my picture library. This essentially froze the application when the progress bar was about a quarter done. In the end I fixed that.
When I noticed the problem with the menu bars (which by the way appear to be somewhat translucent), I tried rebooting a couple of times. At this point, the problem was random and appeared only to affect the Finder Menu bar. So a reboot had the effect of seeming like it was fixing it. When it didn't go away, I was looking arounf and hit About This Mac and discovered Leopard was uninstalled. I opened the software box and found the install disk, so I ran it. Again, the problem appeared to go away.
I didn't use the MacBook for about a week, maybe ten days, and thenlast night I noticed that the problem affected all menu bars regardless of application.Tried rebooting. No go. Tried reparing permissions - no problems found. Zapped he PRAM three or four times. No workee.
That's where I'm at now.
I have Disk Warrior and Drive Genius, but I haven't tried them yet because (a) I thought this miht be a simple issue resolvasble on the threads, and (b) I bought them when I was running 10.3 on G3s and G4s respectively, and wasn't sure they were Leopard or Intel compatible.

Just updated premier pro cc and all applications are broken

I deleted all the programs and all the files related to the progras, did a fresh re instal of after effects as a test, same issue.
Importer/ exporter is broken, cant import or export at all, spent three hours on the phone waiting to talk to someone, finaly did and thir sugestion was to start a new Admin account on my mac, that did not work so, yeah f- me, I am loosing money everyday I cant edit.

If all pictures are updated, then print document

i have to solve the following problem:
i want an indesign document to be printed automatically, when three of four pictures have been updated.
no dialog, just print the whole document...
is this possible via indesign script?
can anyone point me in a direction? im pretty new do indesign scripts, but im desperate...

It's doable, but a bit trick, and it also sounds inadvisable.
What version of InDesign?
Can you tell us more about why you want this functionality? It sounds like something that's easy to mess up and hard to debug.
Anyhow, you would probably do this with an AFTER_UPDATE event handler attached to the Link objects.

Running the latest OS Mavericks. 8 gigs of RAM. 150 gigs free space on computer. Problem: since upgrading to Maverick almost all applications are slow to open, and frequently many 'spinning ball' interruptions. Repaired disk permissions - no help.

Yes. Many messages show up when I try to use Office for Mac 08. Here's a sample (and one that repeats over and over again):
