Allow incoming traffic through iTunes?

All of a sudden every time I open iTunes it asks if incoming traffic should be allowed. I checked my firewall settings and it is listed under allowed applications. Am I missing something? This start happening about a week ago.
Thanks.

When you installed 7.6 this started happening. The fix that I have found thanks to these forums, was to download itunes from the download site, not the software update. Once I reinstalled it stopped asking for deny/allow.

  • ITunes requests "Allow Incoming Traffic" every-time it's launched

    Dear fellow Mac users;
I have the latest iMac 27" (SSD 256GB & HDD 2TB). All Applications and OS X reside on the SSD while the Home folder and all data files (including Music Folder -> iTunes Folder) reside on the 2TB HDD.
Everytime I launch the iTunes app and fully close it, a pop up shows up saying +"Do you want the application "iTunes.app" to accept incoming network connections?" Clicking Deny may limit the application's behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences.+
In order for iTunes to connect to the iTunes store I need to click Allow every time.
In the System Preferences -> Security -> Firewall -> Advanced, the iTunes.app is set to *Allow incoming connections*.
The "Block all incoming connections" is unchecked
The "Automatically allow signed software to receive ..." is checked
The "Enable stealth mode" is unchecked
I deleted the "+iTunes - Allow incoming connections+" and then relaunched iTunes and there is no pop up. But after closing the iTunes app and relaunching again, the problem reappears.
Checking in System Preferences -> Security -> Firewall -> Advanced, the iTunes.app is suddenly again set to *Allow incoming connections*.
Any advice to avoid this annoying behavior is GREATLY appreciated.

I had the same firewall problem on three computers after upgrading to 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1. I was able to fix it on all three computers without uninstalling anything. Here's what worked for me:
    1) Go to the firewall preferences (System Prefs-->Security-->Firewall-->Advanced-->Automatically allow... (checked) and delete iTunes from the list.
    2) Restart the computer.
    3) Download the standalone iTunes 10.1 installer from Apple and install it.
    4) Restart again
    5) There is no step 5...
iTunes has been working all morning for me on all three computers without the firewall messages coming back (including mulitple launches of iTunes, restarts, etc.)
I'm not sure if the restarts are required in the steps above, but they can't hurt and it worked for me.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall Not Allowing Incoming Traffic

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is a very friendly cisco guru out there who can help me out.  I am trying to switch out a cisco pix 501 firewall with a cisco ASA 5505 firewall.  I am not very familiar with all of the commands for the firewalls and have always relied on a standard command line script that I use when building a new one.  Unfortunately, my script is not working with the 5505.  Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong with the following script?  I've masked public IP info with xxx.xxx.xxx and I run it right after restoring the firewall to the factory defaults.  I am able to get out to the internet if I browse directly from one of the servers, but cannot access a web page when trying to browse to it from an outside network.

    Hey Craig,
Based on your commands I think you were using 6.3 version on PIX and now you must be  moving to ASA ver 8.2.x.
On 8.4 for interface defining use below mentioned example :
    int eth0/0
    ip add x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
    nameif outside
    no shut
    int eth0/1
    ip add x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

You can use two global statements as first statement would be used a dynamic NAT and second as PAT.
If you're still not able to reach.Paste your entire config and version that you are using on ASA.

  • RV-082 Router Incoming traffic allow

We are using Cisco Router RV-082
We want to allow incoming traffic ONLY to our remote office on specific port. Is it possible to configure our router to allow only traffic from specific IP address?
    Please help me
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
To accomplish what you are trying to do, you will need to create two inbound rules. One denying all traffic from all sources and another one allowing all traffic from the WAN port with the source IP as the IP you want to allow.
Here is a document explaining how to create the access rules.
    http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=214b9e138807474cba39cda82212f509_Adding_Deleting_an_IPv4_access_Rule.xml&pid=2&respid=0&snid=4&dispid=0&cpage=search

  • Firewall keeps prompting to allow incoming connections

    Hi,
This is, by far, Lion's most annoying new feature. Every time I open iTunes after startup, I get asked to allow incoming connections through the firewall. This behavior started happening after I made the mistake of upgrading to Lion. Removing itunes from the listed of allowed software does absolutely nothing, almost as if the program is just a blank field with no actual code running behind it. The excepetion gets added back to the firewall every time the Mac is restarted along with the prompt. iTunes' startup often hangs upon waiting for this prompt to appear and be answered.
Disabling the firewall is not an option, nor is reinstalling iTunes as it is the firewall which seems to be the problem. Rolling-back to 10.6.8 is also not a possibility at this time. I can't be the only one with this problem. Anyone else?

    Hi!
I re-enabled firewall just to see if it was solved on 10.7.3 and, as you said, no way. Everytime I startup my iMac, Firewall is prompting me to allow incoming connections for iTunes, but not for the rest of the other software I'm using, which I was asked for just once.
    Could you solve it?

Where it is applied it to a L3 switch vlan interface or a router interface, which direction etc.,.
Is the SNMP traffic from a specific device, you could add a permit log for that specific device to see what ports it is using.
Also, where is the SNMP coming from in your acl ? if it is the x.x.0.0 network the acl should be -
permit udp x.x.0.0 0.0.255.255 eq snmp host SERVER_IP eq snmp
    etc..

  • Tunnelling web traffic through ssh

for tunnelling web traffic through ssh, it says here

to localhost and the port i used for ssh but what about the other fields like http, ftp, gopher, and ssl proxy, shouldn't i need to set those too? if not why and what are those fields for anyway?
btw, is it possible to view streaming video like youtube.com while using a proxy? if so, then how would i go about it?

    -D [bind_address:] port

allocating  a  socket  to listen to port on the local side, optionally bound to
the specified bind_address.  Whenever a connection is made to  this  port,  the
connection  is  forwarded over the secure channel, and the application protocol

rently  the  SOCKS4  and  SOCKS5 protocols are supported, and ssh will act as a
SOCKS server.  Only root can forward privileged ports.  Dynamic  port  forward‐
ings can also be specified in the configuration file.
streaming videos like youtube.com will be possible... surfing the web will be the same as without socks proxy...
I suggest to use a addon like FoxyProxy if you use socks proxy's a lot.
    1) I already know the ssh part, im talking about the configuration in firefox, sorry if i didn't make this clear.

ok it says here for vpn
    http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefi...213324,00.html#
An additional level of security involves encrypting not only the data, but also the originating and receiving network addresses.
    3) so how would the routers know where to route the data if its encrypted? and how would i go about implementing that?
    4) btw, is ssh tunnelling an implementation of vpn?
    5) another question i have would be that for ssh tunnelling, it works at the transport layer onwards so only applications which are designed to use the port would go through the tunnel and be encrypted right, other apps would not go through the tunnel. On the contrary, IPsec works on the network layer so all information above the network layer whether they use UDP or TCP or whatever ports for TCP would go through the tunnel and be encrypted. Are the above statements correct?

I  rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device.  I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked.  I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • Does family sharing allow content not purchased through itunes?

Most of my music has been ripped from my CDs, not purchased through itunes. The family sharing feature in ios8 sounds tempting since I currently have 4 of us working from a single account which causes some issues at times. Will I still be able to share the ripped CDs and other content not purchased from itunes with other family members if we split up and then turn on family sharing?
Thus far, the 5S that just arrived today is the only device with ios8 on it. The other iphones and ipads in the house will need to be updated when it seems safe to do so. We are also running itunes on two macbook pros and a few PCs.

Yes, home sharing works with both purchased and ripped music, as well as videos.  It does not allow you to move content from one computer to another; it allows you to stream content from one computer to another computer or device on the local network (or connected via a VPN).
If you want to access music outside of your network and copying it is a problem, then you might consider Match.

  • ITunes always asks to allow incoming connections

I have the apple firewall turned on. iTunes is set in the firewall to allow incoming connections.
With iTunes Home Sharing turned on every time I start iTunes I am asked to allow incoming connections. I reply yes and the next time I restart iTunes I am asked the same question again.
If I turn iTunes Home Sharing off I am never asked about allowing incoming connections when I use iTunes.
Is there something else I should be doing? ( other than turning the firewall off )
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are experiencing this problem on your Mac, follow these simple steps to get rid of the Allow or Deny popups:
    1. Go to the Applications folder and drag iTunes to the Trash. Don’t worry, your music, videos, and entire media library are not affected and will still be there. Only the iTunes software will be uninstalled (though it's always wise to have a backup, particularly of your iTunes Store purchases or anything else that would be difficult/expensive to replace).
    2. Reboot or log out of your Mac. This step may or may not be necessary, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
    3. When you are logged back in, go to Apple’s website to download the latest version of iTunes if you haven't already..
    4. Install iTunes. Do not import any songs or videos if it prompts you to do so.
All of your media should be right where you left it the first time your fresh installation of iTunes is opened. If you get another firewall popup asking to Allow or Deny incoming network connections, make your choice and that should be the last time you see it. Future iTunes launches shouldn't pester you anymore.

  • ITunes always requesting for "allowing incoming network connection"

    Hi.
I have this problem since idk when but every time I opened up iTunes, it always pops up a dialog window: "allow incoming connection". When I check on the preferences, I noticed that it's already been signed to allow all incoming connection. And if I turned the firewall off, iTunes will not pops up any of those dialog windows. But if I turned it on again, it will pops up once more.
So what's the problem and how to solve it?
    Regards,
    Daniel90.

That post says it is an iTunes problem. If you are having this problem with other applications those should probably be addressed on an individual basis. I haven't seen this issue but I am still running Tiger and I haven't installed a new version of iTunes in 5 years.
