Allow user defined values during run time

Hi ,
I have created a VI wherein I have 3 inputs as enums, I also want to give the user the capability to enter runtime values which are not present in the drop down for the enum , is it possible ? I see an option in the propeties of the enums as "allow user to enter undefined values during runtime" , will this serve the same purpose as I am looking for or is it something different ?
Please see the attached snapshot for the option I am referring to .
Thanks

What you see is a disabled option in the items editor.  The items editor is common between Rings Comboboxs and enums.  I don't know why  the gurus and R&D decided to disable and grey the checkbox rather than hide the darn thing.  Lucky for us its not something that customers see just developers.  At least we have the ability to ask about what that is if we don't know.

  • Generate User Member Rules during run time

    We are using organizations to group users of similar job functions. Our users can have many job functions, hence, belonging to multiple organizations. We are using user member rules to populate the list of users. So far, everythings done manually through IDMs admin interface. We will be customizing workflows to create these organizations automatically, and need a way to generate the user member rule dynamically upon creation of the organization. Is there anyway to create user member rules dynamically in a workflow and assign to an organization?

    Udo,
    I recently ran into something similar, but from the other direction: I started with some buttons that were handled in an event structure, and I wanted to add a set of matching, redundant commands in the run-time menu that would trigger the same event cases as the buttons.
    This seems like a common situation, and I couldn't help but wonder if I was missing something too.
    In the end, my solution was a two-stage approach where each button and menu event performed a "Value(Signaling)" property node update on a single string control. Then I created an event case for that string control and used the updated value to determine what code to actually run.
    This obviously required some cutting-and-pasting from the original set of event cases, but it seems to work well. Attached is a simple example (LV 7.1.1).

  • Variant Values during Run Time

    Hi
      I am running a report as background job with a variant "VarOne"  which has the following values
    1. Duration Interval  - value -  60
    2. Program ID.       - value - 00123
    3. Current Date ( Value not saved while creating variant)
    4. Current Time ( Value not saved while creating variant)
    While the report is scheduled as background job with a particular variant value.. Is there a table that stores all the VarOne variant values....I want to know the values of 3 and 4. I know that looking at the job scheduling time I can get approximate values..But I need to know a place( like a table) where these variant values are stored.
    I have checked the following tables but didnt find the runtime values
    VARID
    VARIT
    TRVAR
    TRVARVC
    TRVARV
    VARICONCI
    VARICON
    Hope My question is clear
    Thank you

    VARCH is much the same as any editor (e.g. SE38 or SA38.. or where ever you can display development objects from and choose "variants" from the "Other Objects" menu).
    If you can display the variant from anywhere, but not from VARCH, then your concept seems to be a bit strange...
    Note that from VARCH you can display and also maintain the variants (if authorized), but you cannot execute the programs (via their variants). That is what it is designed to do, particularly in production systems...
    If your program concept in intact and correctly secured, then I recommend requesting standard VARCH to fullfill your requirement.
    Your security folks should give you the correct authority to do your job, and not rely on silly tcodes to secure the variants...

  • Variable Creation During Run Time

    Is there anyway to create new instances of variables during run time based off of user input from a command line prompt. Thnx~!

    Depends what you mean .. if you mean the user can type "a = 8", and it creates a variable "a" with the value 8, then no.
    But you can implement something very similar using a HashMap. Use put("a", new Integer(8)), or whatever, and then get it out later with get("a").

  • Select serial comm port in sub vi during run-time

    Hi, would like to be able to select the comm port (serial RS232) in sub vi to use in main vi during run time. How can I do this? Have tried and failed, for on startup an error occurs because I have not selected a port yet. An example would be invaluable! Thanks alot, Madri

    Hi Madri !
    What you could do is to intercept the com errors, and open a configuration vi either if there is an init error or if the user has pressed a "Change port" boollean (or menu...). Do not forget to close the previously opened serial port, and to open/init the new one. I have attached a small example of this idea.
    Of course com errors can have various origins, and do not require always to change the serial port. So, you have some additional work to do.
    Hope this helps

  • How to hide the Parameter field during Run time?

    Hi,
    How to hide the Parameter field during Run time?
    I have a parameter field which behaves differently depending on the User logged in.
    I am using reports 10G
    For ex: I have 3 field created in JSP
    CUSTOMER
    PROVIDER
    FROM DATE
    END DATE
    If the user = 'SUPER show all the parameter
    CUSTOMER
    PROVIDER
    FROM DATE
    END DATE
    If the user is 'GATEKEEPER" Just show
    PROVIDER
    FROM DATE
    END DATE
    Can I do that?
    Please help
    Thanks.
    KK

    hi, i'm not familiar much with JSP. but i think workaround is to create two window one which have 4 fields and the other which have 3. if user is SUPER then call the first screen otherwise if user is GATEKEEPER then call the second screen.

  • User define Function at Mapping Time

    Hello Everyone,
    My requirement is I input the one value to the user define function (at mapping time). That function calls the RFC to R/3 system and return the 3 output values. Now my question is how can I return 3-output value from the user define function.
    What is the other possibility to solve this type of problem?
    Where we have one input parameter and more than one output parameter.
    If any one did this kind of job. Please give me the idea how can I solve this.
    Regards,
    Gaurav Jain

    Hello Richard,
    Are you talking about <b>copy head to line</b> example given in MappingFunctionality.pdf.
    In my scenario:
    Input - NULL
    Output - OP1, OP2, RESULT
    And I write my Advance user define function as
    import com.sap.mw.jco.*;
    public void Lookupfunction(ResultList result, Container container){
    JCO.Repository mRepository;
    // Change the logon information to your own system/user
    JCO.Client mConnection = JCO.createClient(
        "100", // SAP client
        "user", // userid
        "pass", // password
        "EN", // language
        "hostid", // host name
        "00" ); // system number
    // connect to SAP
    mConnection.connect();
    // create repository
    mRepository = new JCO.Repository( "SAPLookup", mConnection );
    // Create function
    JCO.Function function = null;
    IFunctionTemplate ft = mRepository.getFunctionTemplate("ZTEST2");
    function = ft.getFunction();
    mConnection.execute( function );
    result.addValue( function.getExportParameterList().getString( "OP1" ) );
    result.addValue(function.getExportParameterList().getString( "OP2" ) );
    result.addValue(function.getExportParameterList().getString( "RESULT" ) );
    mConnection.disconnect();
    But it shows me only one field as output in mapping icon.
    so as per the mapping document i attach splitbyvalue over that but in the example only one field at the output side where i have three field.
    How can i solve the problem?
    Even i check in XI 2.0 System it doesn't show output at all.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Datatypes and names of columns of recordgroup during run-time

    Hi everyone,
    Can you please tell me that Is it possible to get the datatype and name of columns of a recordgroup during run-time or not. So that I don't waste my time in searching for this solution. If you are not getting my question then please let me know but I need this help very badly.
    Thanks
    Subodh

    After  the call of the methods GET_COLUMN_WIDTH or  GET_ROW_HEIGHT
    You need to add this command :
                            CALL METHOD cl_gui_cfw=>flush.
    This will send back from the SAPGUI  to your ABAP program the new values.
    Found in this Thread  : Method GET_ROW_HEIGHT

  • Need an option to populate the calculated percentage during run time

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement in reporting , My report out put contains two key figures based on condition it will populate exceptions (green, yellow, Red) .Now i want calcuate Miss percantage (Marked in Red color in expection)
    This Miss percentage to be calculated as per below logic during run time , percentage should populate in out put.
    total no of records in report out put / Miss records (which marked red color in out put)*100
    Regards
    Murali.K

    Hi Murali,
    You need to create three CKF.
    For calculating Red color count, create a CKF and use the Alert level condition which you have used in Exception.
    For Example if your Alert level for red is Value LT 20.
    then "Missed Record CKF" will have ( VALUE < 20) boolean calculation. Hope you aware about it.
    after that create another "Total record CKF" which calculate the number of records by simply keeping 1.
    Then under the third CKF used, SUMGT(Missed Record) / SUMGT(Total Record) * 100.
    Regards,
    Ashish

  • How to display user define value in list screen from detail screen

    Hello Experts
    I am working on task in which i have to display the user define value on list screen. like i have one list list screen which have one button for add..once i click on add which navigate to detail screen and detail screen has two fields one for ID AND other for name and detail screen has one button for save once i put value for id and name and click on save button which will navigate to previous list screen and those values which should be display on list screen.
    Regards:
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,
    To navigate to the Master page on button click , you need some thing like,
    oSplitApp.toMaster("masterpage_id");
    to understand the navigation for Master/Detail page , have a look at,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_uiaddon10/helpdata/en/df/adb6b7247e4826b0fcde472b029840/content.htm
    Also to pass value from Detail page to Master page, you can use a Global variable to store your values on click of the Save button. For eg. You may have a global JS file which both Master and Detail page can access like App.Js, Application.JS etc.
    After navigating to the Master page, you can read the Global variables and show it on your Master page.

  • How to get the Title and Tcode of a Program during run time

    Hello,
    I am new to abap and I have this question please. Is the a way to get the title, Tcode and Author of a program during run time? I would like to get the name and title of a program or a view or an include during run time.
    Using table TADIR, you can only get the object_name and the author. Is the a way for me to get the Title of the repository object and any Tcode if any is available for the case of a program?
    I loop forward for your respond.
    Thank you.
    Sabina

    You can get it by accessing SYST.
    SY-TITLE for Title
    SY-TCODE for Tcode
    I don't think there is any field in SYST for the Author.
    To get the author name you can use the TRDIR table.

  • Prevent manual entry  in user defined value

    Is it possible to prevent manual entry  in user defined value (Formatted search)?
    Thanks

    Hi
    I don't think there is any out of the box solution .
    It is possible if formatted search automatically populates your data but I think in your case ,user is selecting the list of special codes you have provided .
    May be it can be done by SDK . Try posting in SDK forum .
    Hope this helps
