Alt-click no longer saves target as

I just upgraded to Firefox 13.0 on Windows and noticed that alt-click no longer triggers the "Save target as" function. Does this now need to be configured by the user?

  • Since updating my plugins right-click no longer saves an image - it "cancels".

Last night I updated all my plugins and now I can't save images by right-clicking. I am using Firefox 3.6.8 on a desktop computer running Windows XP legally.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • How do I "Save target as ..." when it does not exist on right clicking in Firefox?

Some web sites allow files and free mp3 tracks to be downloaded by right clicking on an icon and selecting "save target as ...". But Firefox does not have this option. How do others handle this? I have had to go back to Internet Explorer to use this privilege.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Always been so for me.

no it isn't........this option saves as an HTML document link. it does not download the file.

  • When I am finished editing and I click on library from develop, LIghtroom will no longer save my sharpening edit. How do I fix this?

When I am done editing a photo and want to export it, I click on library from
develop, and Lightroom will no longer save the setting I used in detail for sharpening. This
has never been a problem before; How do I fix this?

Are you setting the sharpening at 100% zoom (1:1)? Only when zoomed in is the sharpening applied to the Develop display. Also, LR may not be redrawing the Library preview image file. To force the creation of a new preview, select loupe view (E) and zoom to 1:1 and then out to fit.

  • Save Target As  ...

    Hello,
Not strictly a JAVA question but I have a page that shows a list of documents stored in my db, these docs being of various different types e.g. gif, ms word, lotus wordpro, pdf. When clicking on the doc name, the document is displayed. However, if the doc is to be saved/downloaded by right clicking and using the Save Target As option, when the file dialog box appears, a temporary filename is displayed not the actual filename. Does anybody know how I can set the filename in the save as dialog box or will I have to create my own version of the save as dialog box.
    Thanks.

To be honest, the JFileChooser is slow, sluggish and nasty to try to adapt/extend. You'd be better making your own. It might take longer, but you'll probably end up with a more customised, nicer-looking and maybe faster one anyway.
As for your specific problem, I have no idea. Personally, I'd either search the forums, or write my own.

  • Elements no longer saves files!

For years I have been running Elements 2 & 7. Mostly I use 2 for manipulation and 7 for printing. A few weeks ago I could no longer save files in 2. I tried to un-install 2 and then re-install it. The problem continues - I get the message "Could not complete your request because of a programing error". I use an HP Desktop and Windows XP Pro. What should I try next?

I'd try resetting the photoshop elements 2 preferences file by holding down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you double click or single click the pse 2 shortcut.
(double click if the shortcut is on the desktop or single click if the shortcut is in the start>programs list)
Keep holding the keys until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop elements settings file and press yes because you do.

  • I can no longer save SIMs 2 games

Dear Apple, I include a letter below that I sent to Aspyr Tech Support, which will help explain the situation. There were also problems with Fetch not uploading, because it said that that I could not save to the folder, and to try selecting another folder. (Take note that I was not trying to save anything anywhere, I was just trying to open a connection.)A Fetch Tech person then instructed me on what needed to be done with my computer system's keychain, and that solve the Fetch problem.
Now I have a problem with saving my Sims2 games.
Also when saving AOL mail I also some time get a message that I do not have permissions to write to the location where I am trying to save the mail. Even though it is a folder on the desktop where I am trying to save it. I do not get any kind of message with the Sim situation, they just don't save.
When I installed the Leopard 10.5.1 I had installed it over the Tiger. I did not have problems saving my Sims 2 games though until I installed the Leopard 10.5.2.
I did have the problem with the AOL not wanting to save though before when I had the 10.5.1 running. Should I do an archive install or clean install. And is one better than the other? Please see below letter to Aspyr and let me know what yo advise.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!
    LK
    Dearest Aspyr,
    I am so sad :0(
I upgraded my Leopard to the 10.5.2 operating system and the game runs great except it will no longer save, so everything that I do at a sims house gets lost when I go back to the neighborhood view. UGH!
Around the time that I upgraded my Leopard I had downloaded some custom sims and skins, so I trashed those, removing the EA foldr in my Home Userfolder and pulled off my external hard drive back up older games that had no problems, but those too will not save now. What should I do? Re-install from scratch my sim software? If so how should I uninstall the old EA stuff to make sure that I uninstall everything?
Or is there some permission issue with my computer which is not letting me save the game? sometimes with the saving of e-mails, and AOL is working to correct it making their program so that it is compatible with 0SX Leopard.

Open the Disk Utility, select your default hard drive and click on the Repair Disk Permissions. After that, restart your Mac and try to save your document.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • I can no longer save a Numbers spreadsheet.  Why?

I can no longer save a Numbers spreadsheet.. Why?

    Rodeo,
I received the file you emailed.  Without opening the file:
I can tell you that you were NEVER able to save the file.  This is a Microsoft excel file (which we know because the extension is ".xls").  Numbers can open excel files then you can save the file as a Numbers file OR you can export the file back to excel using the menu item "File > Export To > Excel..."
Did you create the file in Excel?  If so you can continue to edit the file in excel.  If you double clicked the file and it opened in Numbers then you need to answer the question which application do you want to use (Numbers or Excel)?

  • Save Target As in IE Opens PDF in a New Window Instead of Downloading

I work in the IT department at a UK firm of solicitors and we have recently observed issues with using "Save Target As" in Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7 with Reader XI. Instead of prompting for the path to save the file, as you would expect, it instead opens a new browser window and loads the Adobe Reader plugin to display the file. The download Window does appear but as it doesn't even get as far as prompting for a path to save to obviously it never starts.
We are able to work around this by clicking the Save button in the Reader plug-in once it has loaded but this isn't practical especially for large or complex documents which may take more than a few seconds to load. The issue does not occur in XP with identical versions of IE and Reader.
Is anyone aware of a way I can selectively disable this behaviour without disabling the browser plugin as a whole?

Does that only happen with PDF files, or any files?  My guess is the latter, which indicates a problem with IE.  Try a repair: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

  • Fire Fox no longer save my user name and passowrds

I am rebuilding my computer after a drive failure.
Fire Fox no longer will same my log in information for site I frequent requiring me to enter name and password each time I open a site. Fire Fox does some time ask if I want the password saved and I click yes but it has no effect on future site openings.
If I look at Saved Passwords under tools/security/save passwords all of the sites in question are saved there but have no reaction when I attempt to open the site.
A second problem. Fire Fox no longer saves recent site opened atop the tool bar on the lower left that has Run, Document, Programs. It used to save the last 5 or 6 programs used. It now only has HP printer saved.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
In [[Private Browsing]] mode Firefox won't fill names and passwords automatically and won't offer to store new passwords.

  • Can't use "save target as" feature in Firefox 7.0.1, all files are saved with .htm extension! Why?

I'm no longe able to save a file using "save target as" feature, when I'm googling for a file.
No matter what the file extension is (ppt, pdf, doc, etc.), Firefox 7 downloads a .htm useless file.
I rember I had this issue in FF long time ago! Is this a regression?

Now up to Firefox 8 and the problem persists. Cannot go to the www.turnitin.com page and login as I used to do -- Firefox does not remember my username or password.
Still works on Windows, and with other browsers... It would be great if a fix is available.

  • I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs.  The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue?  I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.
    Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix.  Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
    1.  Quit Image Capture
    2.  Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
    3.  Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
    4.  Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
    5.  Quit and restart "Image Capture".   Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder.  It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful.  I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
    This is what I tried:
    6.  Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
    7.  Quit "Image Capture".  Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
    8.  Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
    9.  Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer.  I like "~/Desktop"
    10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter.  Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
    11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
    I consider this a bug.

  • I am using Unix sites and they use links to files. If I use IE I can save target and it works. If I use save as in Firefox it only saves the link. I have res

    http://code.google.com/p/mkgmap-style-sheets/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk%2Fstyles%2Fworld
Is the website. I am trying to download the files. Yes I can open and manually save them but the stock standard IE save target does not exist in Firefox and the Save Link only saves the link. The whole world has struck this problem so please do not say it works. It does not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever thing works as it should in IE.

On code.google.com, when I compare Fx22 and IE8, the links on that page both want to save the HTML and not the actual code. In both cases, I need to go to the HTML view then right-click and save the "View Raw file" link on the right side to get the actual code file.
If you need to save a lot of files while browsing, perhaps a subversion client and/or subversion add-on would make it more efficient?
