Alternate Lot Sizing for KMAT (configurable) materials

Hi friends,
We are using KMAT(configurable) materials.
During MPS/MRP run, SAP plans KMAT production with Lot-to-Lot production(EX) by default!
We have some capacity planning situations, due to which, we need the lot sizing options like u2018Fixed lot (FX) sizeu2019 or u2018Fixed lot size with splitting(FS)u2019 or even use of u2018Min-Max lot sizeu2019... so that the large requirements are transferred in smaller lots to the plant.
But, when we use any of these lot- sizing procedures in MRP1 screen of the material master, we do not find any difference in MRP resultsu2026 system just triggers the planned order exactly matching the Sales order quantity (as if we still use EX)!
SAP notes 437098 and 724235 hint that the alternate lot sizing procedures are possible to set up for configurable materials... but we are struggling to crack this.
If any of you have had an opportunity to work on alternate or custom lot sizing procedures with KMAT (configurable) materials, it would be wonderful to hear the suggestions and results.
Thanks in advance.

Senthil

Hi Dario,
Thanks for the response.
We use ECC6.0; I could not find the inidicator you've referred (customer requirement)... in transaction OMI4 : Check Lot Sizing Procedure --> MRP Lot Size...
Kindly advise if you were referring to any other version or any other transaction...

  • Lot Sizing for Short/Long Term

    Hello All,
I tried the lot sizing with the short term/Longterm pattern..
But I'm facing the following problem..
I have maintained periodic lot sizing according to the planning calendar(Weeks from Saturday to Friday) for the first month...( Requirement date = period end)
And for the other 2 years I have defined periodic lot sizing with Monthly lot size ( Requirement date = period end).
But running MRP, the system Cumulates all the monthly requirement from the 2 nd period and creating the order proposal with the order end date of the months first planning calendar week. But I'm expecting the system to create the order proposal with the month's last date as the order end date .
Whether my expectation is incorrect or any other settings to be maintained to achieve this.
    Thanks & regards,
    Mahesh

    Hello Mahesh,
You can get the results without maintaining the planning calendar..Just change the lot size procedure WB :weekly lot size" and take out the planing calendar and maintain the settings as per below.
In the period lot sizing procedure WB maintain the number of periods 1 for the period of short term period with weekly lot size. then in "end of the short term period" maintain the initail value " months: and define number of periods 24.
maintain the same values for long term period i.e period 1 with period lot sizing procedure (monthly lot size).
By doing the above you will get the weekly lot size for the first 2 years and then monthly lot size for the rest of the requirements.
    If helpful rewards your points.

  • Intercompany Stock transfer for KMAT configurable material

    Hi All
I have a scenario in which we do intercompany sale of machines which is KMAT - configurable.
    company A & B ,
company B's customer raises a order...
this raises a order in Company A , and producion in A takes place , and material is created as sales order stock
This is then delivered and invoiced to PLANT_B which is a customer (but linked to plant B of company B)
Now I create S.O., MD02 , C040 , C015 and then MIGO to transfer to sales order stock.
I am assuming that the customer in inv. is PLANT_B which is customer linked to plant , so this should transfer the stock to plant B. and then we can go ahead and deliver and inv to end customer OF COMP B.
Now how do I transfer this stock from sales order in COMPANY A to Sales order in COMP B
Remember since this is a KMAT ocnfigurable material , and not a normal material.
    So the cycle is
    COMP B S.O -> COMPA S.O -> COMPA - PROD ORDER - > DELIVER COMPA -> INV COMPA -> DELIVER COMPB ->INV COMPB
    Please help.

    Hi,
First try to transfer the stock to unrestricted stocj of company B with the help of STO process. Once it goes to unrestricted stock of company B then move this stock to sales order stock of company B using movement type.

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.
We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.
Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.
If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.
    Thank You in Advance!!!
    Reg,

    Jagan nath
    Try below.
you would need miimum of 3 segments to pass variant config data using this bapi
    ORDER_CFGS_REF for each configurable item
    POSEX = ITEM #
CONFIG_id , root_id - Start with 1 and increment it for each configurable line item
    ORDER_CFGS_INST
    CONFIG_ID - from above
INST_ID - Start with 1 and increment it for each configurable line item
    OBJ_TYPE = "MARA'
    CLASS_TYPE = '300'
    OBJ_KEY = material #
    ORDER_CFGS_VALUE
CONFIG_ID for the item, INST_ID for the item
    charc for characteristic value
    VALUE for characteristic value

  • Vendor lot sizing

    Dear Expert,
I have requirement to use different lot sizing for each vendor.
Background of this requirement because in my company, there are some material that can be procured with more than 1 vendor (use quota arrangement).
    For example :
we want to purchase material X.
for material X there is quota arrangement with vendor A (60%) and vendor B (40%).
vendor A will delivered material Weekly.
vendor B will delivered material monthly.
when we have requirements like below :
    Date                           Element               Quantity
    3 Oct 2011                 Req                         -10
    11 Oct 2011               Req                         -20
    19 Oct 2011               Req                         -30
    27 Oct 2011               Req                         -40
when i want to running MRP, my expectation is below:
    Date                           Element               Quantity
    3 Oct 2011                 PR Vendor A           6    (total quantity weekly * quota = 10 * 60%)
    3 Oct 2011                 PR Vendor B           40  (total quantity monthly * quota = 100 * 40%)
    3 Oct 2011                 Req                         -10
    10 Oct 2011               PR Vendor A          12    (total quantity weekly * quota = 20 * 60%)
    11 Oct 2011               Req                         -20
    17 Oct 2011               PR Vendor A          18    (total quantity weekly * quota = 30 * 60%)
    19 Oct 2011               Req                         -30
    24 Oct 2011               PR Vendor A          24    (total quantity weekly * quota = 40 * 60%)
    27 Oct 2011               Req                         -40
Recently, because i only set lot sizing (use monthly) in material master, when i run MRP the result like below:
    Date                           Element               Quantity
    3 Oct 2011                 PR Vendor A           60  (total quantity monthly * quota = 100 * 60%)
    3 Oct 2011                 PR Vendor B           40  (total quantity monthly * quota = 100 * 40%)
    3 Oct 2011                 Req                         -10
    11 Oct 2011               Req                         -20
    19 Oct 2011               Req                         -30
    27 Oct 2011               Req                         -40
i have explore this requirement and find solution use planning calendar, but to set planning calendar for each vendor must activate SAP retail and my company not activate it.
is there any solution to achieve my requirement.
Thank you very much for your assistance.

  • Regarding lot sizing procedure in Pharma scenario.

    Hi PP Gurus,
I have a scenario for lot sizing for small and big batches of a product.
For example, let us say the order quantity is
Case 1: 1000 kg of finished product
then the fixed lot size will be 500 kg (which is small batch size) and 2 batches will be taken for production
Case2: 3000 kg of finished product
then fixed lot size will be 1000 kg (which is big lot size) and 3 batches will be taken for production
Could anybody please help to propose solution for such scenarios?
    Thanks,

    Hi
You may use FS Fixed Lot Size with Splitting for that purpose.

  • Lot sizing key DY and WI

Can somebody explain me for which business process the DY and WI lot size is recommended in MRP>
Also what is significance of eact one if it is used.
    Thanks
    Vaibhav

    Hi Sumeet,
Using 2 lot sizing procedures in a single material master will not be possible.
Also, creating 2 Valuation classes with different lot sizing for each valuated material data wont be acceptable by business.
Here, you can create a customized lot size by copying a standard, and in to  the config of the lot size, please define Short Term and Long Term Planning details.
    IMG-> MM->Consumption Based Planning->Planning->Lot Size Calculation-> Define Lot Size Procedure->MRP Lot Size.
Maintain Static for Short term and Dynamic lot size option for longer term and define the short term, long term intervals.
    Hope this would work.
    Thanks

  • Make-to-order: COPS for  KMAT materials (Non-valuated sales stock)

    Hello,
We are working with KMAT configurable material (i.e. non valuated sales order stock).
The client is requiring that inventory of these KMAT material should be shown in the financial accounting;however as we work with KMAT, this seems not possible.
    The whole process is:
    - taking of the sales order with the configuration
    - MRP and Production order Execution
    - Settlement of the PO to the sales order
    - Settlement of the Sales orden to a given account in FI (just like "stock for customer order") - inventory.
The problem we are facing now is how to make the compensation of this account once the product is delivered.
It seems the sales order's default settlement receiver is only the PSG. can we have to use the result analysis key to calculate the cost of sales, and which valuation method can we use if I only want to settle the actual cost that settled from the production order.
By the way, I have search for the notes:Note 26459  it seems we have to run the sales cost estimate first for the KMAT.
    Summary
    Symptom
It is not possible to perform results analysis on sales order items with materials of material type KMAT.
    Additional key words
    Transactions KKA3, KKAK
    Cause and prerequisites
In make-to-order production, the inventory and the cost of sales are not posted through goods movements because the materials are managed in a non-valuated sales order stock. The only way to create postings in FI is to use results analysis (see Note 26456). If the sales order item consists of a material of material type KMAT, results analysis is not possible because no cost estimate exists for this material.
    Solution
Results analysis must be performed with a valuation method that uses profit basis C. With this profit basis, the system uses the planned costs of the production orders for the sales order instead of a cost estimate for the KMAT material.
In Release 2.2 a modification is needed for this which is described in Note 25772. In Release 3.0 this function is provided as standard.
From 3.0C onwards the planned costs of the sales order can also be calculated in a product cost estimate for the sales order. You should use profit basis E in this case.
However, if you are using assembly processing with production orders, you can only use profit basis C.
Hope the scenario is clear. Perhaps you have a different approach to work with KMAT materials.

    Hi Friends,
Can you please provide the solution for my problem and its slight urgent.

  • Inventory Turnover with Configurable Materials (i.e. KMATs)

    Dear Experts,
Has anyone developed inventory turnover reporting that involves configurable materials (i.e. KMATs)?
I have a situation where the client wants to report inventory turnover at the plant level. A plant issues both stocked goods and configurable materials (i.e. assemble to order) to customers. Unlike stocked goods, configurable materials do not carry standard cost and are costed during sales order settlement at month's end (i.e. material movements for KMATs are not valuated).
In order to determine Cost of Goods Sold (since Inventory Turnover = Cost of Goods Sold / Average Inventory), I suppose that Cost of Goods Sold would be equal to the sum of the issue value of stocked goods plus the issue value of configurable materials (i.e. ATOs).
SAP Business Content provides InfoCube 0IC_C03 for Material Movements (and likewise Inventory Turnover reporting). The delivered content supporting this InfoCube deals with valuated stock only (by looking at material movements). Valuation for KMATs cannot come from material movements (since the material movements of KMATs are non-valuated). Since the SAP Business Content scenario for Inventory Turnover does not provide an apparent mechanism for loading the cost of goods sold for configurable materials, I'm beginning to wonder if I have this all wrong.
Does it make sense that configurable materials would be included in inventory turnover calculations at the plant level? Even though the ATO itself is not stocked, the components are, and there is a cost associated with carrying those components (and also selling them as part of the ATO). Should I be looking at the cost of goods sold for the ATO or is there a way to valuate the cost of the components sold as part of the ATO simply by considering material movements for those components?
Any thoughts on this one? Did I even make any sense?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    hi,
    thanks indeed for the reply.
but here i have to enter characteristics details for every catalog number assoiciated with particular material. i tried this too but still getting the Item Gross Price as zero only. for other condition records too, getting this zero value.
do you have sample code for this?
is there any alternative for that? any other function module i can use?

    C: configurable material 1 (position)
    D: configurable material 2 (position)
    E:variant material 1 (position)

I can in the sales order explode in this way the BOM (using SD01 application in the position type of the header material):
    1) A --> C+D
    2) B --> E+F
while I can't make the explosion in this way: A --> EF and A --> CE
is this possibile? I want to make an explosion of a BOM for a configurable material  and having variants material as sons, or having mix sons (one configurable and one variant)

    Hello Nanda,
Ordering costs is sum of transport cost and storage cost for a component.
In transport cost you can include all purchasing cost and you have maintained this in MRP view in the field of "ordering costs".
Storage cost you have maninatined in percentage in customizing in lot sizing procedure.
This will be picked up automatically with optimum lot sizing procedure to create a optimum lot size.
Please rewards your points if helpful and let me know anything more you would like to know.
