Alternative Installation Method for Slow Internet or Bandwidth Limited Connections?

Hi all,
I've successfully installed Creative Cloud on my laptop. The other machine I need to install it on is a desktop but the Internet connection at that location is extremely slow. I am wondering if there is a way I can download the app installers on another computer and Internet connection, and install them and license them on this desktop. Can I download a standalone trial or installer? I think this accommodation needs to be made since this is such a large program. I understand Internet is required once every 30 days and to license.
Perhaps a DVD-ROM set could be made available for purchase ($15? or less!) without a license key of some sort.
Another reason for this need is many ISPs are starting to limit and monitor bandwidth.

Hi Nick,
We understand your concern.
You can download the trials of the required applications from Adobe.com website and then you can transfer the installers to install and activate on the computer with slow connection with the email that was used to purchase the Creative Cloud Subscription.
Thanks,
Baljeet

• Paying more money for slower internet?

Ok so I got my bill in today and it was $300. The largest bill I've ever got from Verizon FiOS. I skimmed through the bill and noticed I was paying $69.99/m for Verizon FiOS Internet 50/25. I went on the website and saw that they don't even offer 50/25 anymore and on top of that it's only $59.99/m not $69.99/m. So i'm playing an extra $10/m for slower internet that the company doesn't even support anymore. How can I fix this? Has anybody else ever had this problem? If I'm paying $69.99/m for internet I want the 75/75 mbps that they advertise on their website.

It is a serious problem for slow connection!
Is there any offline updater?

No. Furthermore, the system requirements for Nokia Software Updater state clearly that a fast Internet connection is required. If you don't have a fast Internet connection you can always ask a Nokia Care Point to do the update for you.

• Slow internet speeds and dropping connection

hello, I am making this post on behalf of my dad, for a good few months (5-6 maybe even longer) we have been experiencing slow internet speeds and a dropping connection when ever the phone is picked up. when an incoming call is answered some or all devices connected to the internet drop out for a second then come back online, the connection does not completly disapear but causes any voice chat, streaming or gaming to disconect. We have BT wireless phones (not sure what exact type) which we have had for a few years. they are connected through an ADSL filter which as far i can remember has been there for years. We have a netgear DG834GT router which has also been there for a few years. I went onto its settings and got this information, not sure if its usefull or not.
System Up Time 42:18:47
ADSL Link
Downstream
Upstream
Connection Speed
1760 kbps
448 kbps
Line Attenuation
61.0 db
31.5 db
Noise Margin
13.1 db
13.0 db
I also got this from the BTW speed tester
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
1.24 Mbps
0 Mbps
2 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.24 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :1.76 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1.25 Mbps
I hope this is enough information to figure out what is going on with it.

put everything back as it was and this is what it looks like now:
ADSL Link
Downstream
Upstream
Connection Speed

also while i was doing that i did i quiet line test and both myself and my brother listened to it and agreed that there was buzzing/static

• Best method for secure Internet ?????

OK,
So I wasn't sure where to put this post, so I figured I would start with the system I am using and go from there.
The Problem:
I am trying to set up a secure method in which I can use Internet services as I make my way from non-secure places throughout the day studying for school. In any given day I might find myself at 3-5 different locations, studying. I often have my computer with me and would like to be able to use it it without the worries of open line surfing.
I have read (not completely understood) the VPN concept and think that it might provide what it is I am looking for.
Before I went spending the money for an aftermarket plan that provides me a VPN, I thought I would look into setting up my own VPN off of my home connection. Although I am not sure if all I need is an internet line (IP Address) - or do I need an actual computer connected to the Internet at home.
I might be completely wrong here in my thoughts of using the VPN, so please provide any thoughts or suggestions.
Brief Recap:
We have a MBP & iBook G4. We would like to be able to use either of them when we are out in public non-secure areas. Is there a way - and if yes, What is the best method to use to make this happen.
Thanx,
-Al-

Qanuk,
VPN provides a method of connecting to a home or business network securely. From some remote location, VPN creates a secure "Tunnel" whereby you can join your home network and use network resources. This would allow you to "share" files, printers, etc. between computers not just on your network locally, but across the internet, regardless of where you are connected.
If your intention is not to share your network's resources across the internet, but to "surf" normally, you don't need to use VPN. With normal internet use, you are already as secure as you need to be. It is true that there is a potential for "snooping" inherent in using open wireless networks, but this is only a potential, not a real problem.
The question is, "what will someone else be able to find?" Well, if you send an email, there is a potential that someone could intercept that email and read it. Big deal. There is also the possibility that someone could determine what websites you are visiting. Again, big deal.
In order to do this "snooping," that someone would have spend a great deal of resources and time learning to use the tools necessary to do this snooping, then spend the time using them while you are on the same network. Why would someone do this in order to collect very mundane information from you? It's just not going to happen.
Now, in any cases where you might actually be transmitting data useful to a "snooper," such as the transmission of credit card information, you will undoubtedly be doing so using a secure browser connection. In such cases, a secure connection is made between your browser and the server to which you are connected (your bank's server, the retailer's server, etc.). No snooping is possible in these cases.
As for your computer, itself, you are protected by the best firewall in the industry. No one is going to be able to "hack" your computer while you are connected to the same network, as long as you have your firewall turned on, and especially if you have no running services.
In short, you are already as secure as you need to be; surf away.
Scott

• Why have three installation methods for ACR ?(and that's just on Windows)

I am sitting here patiently waiting for my Olympus PEN E-P1 ORF files to be supported.
ACR 5.5 RC has just popped up but to my frustration is only compatible with Photoshop & Bridge.
So I continue sitting patiently in front of Lightroom 2 and Elements 7 thinking this is crazy.
Elements has a simple plug that only has to be copied to a folder and camera profiles updated
Lightroom 2.4 has ACR 5.4 hard coded in
ACR seems to have a very complex method of installation (judging from what's in the zip files)
Surely one installation route would be good for users and make regression testing easier for Eric & the team.
In the future could LR3 and Elements 8 be brought in line or am I missing something (apart from PEN support).
Ian
(PS - Despite my frustration Adobe are still miles quicker than most)

As far as Lightroom goes, it has nothing directly to do with Camera Raw...doesn't use the plug-in at all. The processing pipeline is built in not modifued via plug-in.
If you are in a hurry, download the DNG Converter 5.5 and convert your files to DNG...then Lightroom 2.4 and Camera Raw 5.4 will read them.
As far as Adobe providing developmental builds, if you don't want them in advance of the actual release, you don't need to get all excited...just wait for the general release. Most people actually appreciate the fact that Adobe does this instead of complaining that the builds are not designed to work in Elements....

• My IMac will not load installation software for Mobile Internet USB Plug

Hi, I have a new IMac(Leopard), and have recently loaded a new USB Mobile Internet Plug (SFR France) on to the machine in order to access the internet/mobileme.We live on a boat in France so being "connected" is so important to us.
The installation software is in the USB plug, it loaded successfully, connected and worked well for a period of time.
The IMac then seemed to "forget" the application, and did not open correctly and I had to "force quit" to continue.
I then removed the application and any bits I could find in other folders, and tried to re-install by inserting the plug again. The Icon to install only flashed on the desk top and disappeared so I could not perform this task.
I even tried to "restore" from Time Machine (and my external hard drive), the icon to install appeared on the desktop and I installed the application, but when I clicked onto the "connection icon" it jammed again and did not load.
I checked the status of the installation device by loading the program successfully on the Macbook Pro I have, and even loaded it onto a Dell PC and even had it checked at SFR, and all ok. So it appears the problem is with the IMac.
Any advice suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it is so frustrating!

I have had similar problems with both Sprint and Verizon units (Novatel u727 & u760). Solved both by going to provider sites and downloading SW.

• QuickTime and UTube movies stop & start. How can I re-set for slow internet connection?

UTube will start the movie OK, but stops a few seconds in, then buffers the feed?, and then continues. Sometimes it doesn't continue. I have a rather slow dsl connection - ethernet to my 2011 imac running 10.7.5. My question is: Is there some way to re-set the buffer settings so the videos play without stopping?

If none of the above works, please try the below.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Please report back soon.

• IMail 5.2: How do I optimize it for use on a slow internet connection?

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Lion OS X v 10.7.3, and i like iMail 5.2 when I work from my office or home.
BUT, when I am working in the field I often have access to only glacially slow internet via an internet modem, and iMail takes FOREVER to download my messages. Way longer than my pre Lion version of iMail.
Is there a way to optimize iMail 5.2 in order to optimize for slow internet connections? For instance, to partially retrieve large messages? Or to somehow deactivate all the synchronizing and other Activity that goes on in the background?
Many thanks,
Hoyt

Use a web based email account like GMail or HushMail, because they are a website and people access their emails from many different machines (phones, computers, slow or fast connections) the site can optimize things better than a dumb mail server.
It's possible to auto-forward a copy of your present email accounts to have them on the web based accounts too, don't know exactly how to go about it, but many people elsewhere also have the same desire so it's obvious something like that is being used.

• Sudden Slow Internet (for the past month or two)

Hi all,
I've had my iMac since December 2009 and it's always been well behaved.  However, in the past couple of months, the internet speed has been inconsistent to the point where it is now pretty much as slow as it could ever be.  Web pages take minutes to load, Dropbox is a no go and Skype just cuts out.
As well as the iMac, I have a Macbook and an iPhone and the internet on these is still as fast as ever.
I rang my internet service provider and they did a few rough tests before claiming it was the Mac that is at fault, especially if the laptop and phone speeds are okay.
So I just wanted to ask, are there any causes for slow internet?  Is there anything I can do?  Shoudl I investigate further with my ISP?
Ben

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them; in that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. Any change?
If possible, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
If you can connect to more than one network, are they all the same?
Is networking always the same, or is the problem intermittent?
Disconnect all other devices from the network. Any change?
Boot in safe mode and test. Any difference?
If possible, turn off Bluetooth and disconnect any USB 3 devices. Any difference?

• Slow Internet in Snow Leopard 10.6.8

This post is to express my frustration with the recent updates to snow leopard for OS Lion upgrade compatibility.
Now, many web pages I browse through my iMac take forever to load. This issue was not present in previous updates.
Already tried lots of tricks suggested by many of you (thank you to all - very good people) without success (permissions repair, preferences verify, cleaning caches, IPV6 off, google dns servers, dns repair, dns flush cache, ethernet on the top order, disabling router`s firewall, trashing apple.alf.plist etc, etc,).
I´m sure this is an Apple issue and I hope they fix it soon.

If you search for slow internet browsing in support you will find many people with this kind of issue.
Moreover I already did a test with a Macbook Pro with the same router, same ethernet cable and browsing was totally smooth.
Anyway I`ll follow your advice and will check if there is anything wrong.

• Slow internet windows 7 on mini mac (late 2012)

Hello,
I've recently boot camped my late 2012 Mini Mac with Windows 7 (64 bit) in hopes of playing some online games with some friends and I'm having trouble with keeping a strong wifi connection.  It's either INCREDIBLY slow or simply goes "limited connection" randomly.  I've search google for answers and tried various "solutions", every thing from reinstalling to downloading various drivers with no success.  I'm really hoping one of you guys have the answer.
thanks for your time.

Doesn't work does not tell us anything by which to help or go on, either.

there are threads from other mac-mini users
Windows 7 needs 10.6.3+ (and actually the drivers in Lion 10.7.4 are the newest and less trouble).

Take it somewhere that has better broadband. The best you can do sometimes is invest in new modem that works with your system instead of the rental etc in most cases.
Do a Safe Boot.
Make sure your firewall is set properly. Don't use 3rd party. AV software can get in the way.
Make sure you are getting the service and a clean strong modem signal - slow is one thing but if it drops off and can't maintain a connection you have hardware issues, not software - and upgrade to a new OS doesn't tend to improve, it may even not work with older networking equipment once you do get it.
I agree and think electronic only goes too far. And when you do get it: burn the package and manually set it aside first before running the intaller! make a flash memory installer, put it on DVDs too.
