Amnesty International, Make Some Noise Album - DRM Protected?

Hi,
I am wondering if the Amnesty International, Make Some Noise Album is corrupted with Apples DRM protection. I would very much like to buy this album and support Amnesty, but I am not going to do so if the songs I pay for are not going to play on a portable media player other than Apple's iPod.
If anybody knows the status of this album can you post a reply please.
Steve

I assume you are talking about the "Instant Karma" album in support of Darfur? If that is correct, the CD is DRM protected. As of right now, the only DRM free downloads are from EMI. No other record company has agreed to offer DRM free files.

  • Powerbook chimes when turned on, makes some noise, then nothing

So I went to turn on my powerbook and it made the chime noise, I could hear it start to boot up, and then nothing. The screen is blank, and it does not make any noise. However, it is still on, because I have to hold the power button down to shut it off. I really need my computer for school, so any input is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Melissa

    I have the same problem.
I clicked on Firefox to get it started, moved the attached mouse across the screen to click on an icon, and the screen froze. Tried rebooting using standard options but what would happen was:
    the Mac would chime.
I could hear the drive start.
Lights to hubs turn on but not enough juice to turn the light on for the optical mouse.
The keyboard will shut the Mac down.
I have been a Mac user since May, 1984 (still have my 128k)and very seldom have had assistance with problems because I try every option approved.
If I slightly depress the PMU reset button, everything starts up just fine. Can restart. Can switch drives (two external FireWire drives) and full boot will occur.
If I shut down, then restart... back to the chime and nothing else works. t did go into target mode a couple of times - the only "live" action on the keyboard other than the shutdown by the power button.
Someone suggested the PRAM battery (as he called it, the "buffer" battery). After boot, if I don't depress the button all the way, the correct time shows. If I depress it past the "click" point, it will reset to December 1969.
Any help would be appreciated and might solve both issues in this thread.
    thanks,
    lloyd

  • My creative zen extincted makes some no

    Hello everybody!
I have a little problem with my Creative zen 2go bought to Darty. Indeed, when my mp3 is switch off, the screen or battery (i don't know the origin of this noise) makes some noise, that is to say, a little whistle. (sifflement).
I had sent a mail to Creative: they answered me that i should push on the button "Reset"on my mp3 or to update the firmware (.20 to .2). I had also called Darty and they adviced me the same thing.
I've tried these solutions but it does'nt work: the noise is always there.
Even though this problem, my Creative zen works perfectly but i am afraid that this problem comes from a dysfunction of component in my mp3.
I'm going to contact Darty in order to change this mp3 with an other but, i would like to know if you have any others solutions to help me.
    Thanks for yours answers!
    Best regards
PS: I am french so my english is not perfect, sorry

I'd plugged in the USB cable to my Zen Xtra before plugging it into the PC. I heard a crackling noise after which the PC would not recognised the Zen. Got a message about unknown USB device.
Plugged a thumbdri've in after that, and got the same message so I thought the USB ports were ruined or something. But after a while, the thumbdri've is ok, but PC still would not recognise my Zen.
The Zen also freezes when the USB cable is plugged in. I had to do a soft reset by poking a straightened paper clip into the reset hole.
    What do I do now?
Does the Zen Xtra work fine when NOT connected to the PC?
Also, if you have another USB cable, you might want to try it.

  • HT201272 How do I remove DRM-protected tracks?  I've purchased iTunes match and followed all of the directions for redownloading and I still can't play some of my tracks on the DJay 2 app.  Please help!  Do I need to purchase these tracks all over again?

How do I remove the DRM-Protection from tracks so that I can play them on my DJay 2 app.  I've followed the directions for removal and it's not working...
Will I have to purchase these tracks again?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.

  • Newly released album is DRM protected, can't add to phone using Doubletwist?

I am new to Itunes and have just purchased my first music album.
I was hoping to use the doubletwist Android app to sync my new Itunes music to my phone, however ran into an error which told me that my music is DRM protected and I would need to upgrade to Itunes Plus.
A little bit of research into all this unfamiliar territory seemed to suggest that Itunes annouced it had stopped selling DRM protected music in 2009, so my question is why does my new album, which was released in October 2012 have this DRM and why do I need to pay to remove it.
Album in question is BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge - 2012.
    Thank you for any responses.
    Daniel

A little bit of research into all this unfamiliar territory seemed to suggest that Itunes annouced it had stopped selling DRM protected music in 2009,
Not exactly.  The exact official words are:
"Why is iTunes Plus format available for certain music, but not all?
The reason that certain music and music videos are not offered in our DRM-free, highest quality audio format is because they have not been provided in iTunes Plus format from the music label."
Some newer files look like they have DRM, but don't really, and can be "cleaned up" by changing the file extension from .m4p to ,m4a, and then re-adding to the library.  Give it a try.

  • Is it normal for the Panels to make slight noises when applied with some pressure such as opening the and closing the Mac? It sounds like the screws are not tight enough or is it normal?

Hi, My Mac is around 2 months old, and I have recently come across a slight problem. I've experienced some slight noises happening such as when I open and close the macbook it makes some sort of clicking noises as if to say the panels are loose or have not been screwed properly... It only happens when pressure is applied e.g. when I am typing I tend to rest the palms of my hand on the two plain sections of the mac (next to the track pad) and this causes some sort of pressure to push down to the connecting panel underneath, this is when the clicking sound happens.
I don't know maybe I'm just expecting too much or it might just be what I think it is, anyway if anyone has experience this issue, feel free to share your point of views or past similar experience. Thanks.

Yes.. It's been a while, but I remember thinking the same thing!

  • My Powerbook G4 make some fan noise. Please help!

From last night my PowerBook G4 makes fan noise. It sounds like fanning sound when the computer is overheated during hot summer. But my room temperature is aroung 70 degree.
It happens when I open many windows but I need to open them to trade some at TDamertrade.com site. To check other sites too.
I would very appreciate any suggestions I can try to fix this fan sound.

It is possible that you are having these issues because you installed the MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.3 by mistake:
I remember when this was released that PowerBook G4 owners were seeing this update via their Software Update application. Sometimes I just install those updates without closely reading what they are for exactly. Anyway, I know it says for high work loads, but you would be surprised how easily the fans will turn on high just from simply web browsing.
I suggest that you first try resetting the PMU:
*If the computer is on, turn it off.*
*Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.*
*Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.*
*Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.*
*Press the Power button to restart the computer.*
If the above works for you (great), if not, try resetting PRAM and NVRAM:
    *Shut down the computer.*
*Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.*
    *Turn on the computer.*
*Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.*
*Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.*
    *Release the keys.*
If the above works for you (great), if not, try archive and installing:
If the none of the above worked for you (not so great), do the following:
Go to your closest  Store next week after making an appointment with a Mac Genius:
I hope that I helped you solve your problem, but do post back if not and I will help you narrow down what is going on even further. Personally, I feel that I am better than going to see a genius because most of them are just trained for Intel machines these days out in CA, where as, I know all the way back to PPC and Mac OS 7. Best of luck.

  • Satellite P200 makes some strange noises after closing the music

I've got a Satellite P200 and the flash cards don't react and when Ive played some music.
The computer makes some strange noises after closing the music?
    Help me please!
    grtz Wendy

    Hello Wendy
Please don't understand me wrong but it is not easy to understand issue described in your posting.
I have the same notebook model and everything works well. I hear music daily on Windows media player (mp3s) or listening online radio using Winamp player.
At the same time I can use flash cards.
What to say about strange noises? Who knows what do you mean exactly and how should we understand this?
Please be so nice and explain us exactly what do you do and what kind of noises you can hear.

  • How do you make some pictures in your iphoto library, eyes only protected

I want to make some of my pictures unviewable except by password or something so they are not accessible to the whole family, for example I bought my wife a present and took a picture of it to send to her dad and brother. She opened iphoto and you guessed it the picture was right there in the library for all to see, surprise ruined. There should be some way to hide some of the library pictures????

but the originals still show in the main iphoto library and are viewable?
Gee, I don't know, but here's a thought: if you put them in the second library how about you trash them from the first one?
If you mean create a second iphoto library
    I do
then how do I enrypt it that is what I want to do with the main library anyway.
You don't. Again, you put it on an encrypted dmg or disk image. It's the disk that's encrypted, not the library.

  • My iPod Touch 4g 8 gig keeps restarting randomly while I'm playing.. It makes some buzz noise and restarts, it's really annoying. What do I do?

I've just purchased this iPod Touch. I would turn on my ipod touch 4g, 8gig. Then I would play my music.. While playing it, it would continuously restart, and make some buzz noize. Charging it is a hassle too. Even right now for some reason it keeps charging, and un charging, charging, and un charging, repeatedly
What should I do? I can turn my music on right now, set it to autoplay, and it will continue to throw itself into the restart screen, and restart. Please help, thank you.

  • Data recovery planning for DRM protected musi

    Hi folks,
I'm curious to hear from you on this topic: <FONT color=#cc0000>how do you protect your DRM-protected music (with download license, <EM>not subscription</EM>) - and I mean: data backup and recovery.
Let me put it this way: I'm interested in buying music online, as opposed to buying CDs as I did until now. But I'm real concerned about the implications of the DRM.
If I see how much trouble it costs to do proper data recovery planning (i.e. a backup plan and execution) for my home pc, and how much data tends to get lost when transitioning to new PC or OS, and how quickly internet economy can shift to new hypes and solutions, I'm simply afraid that all these DRM restrictions will mean that in 5 years from now, I will not be able to use the music I buy today.
Reason can be : data loss, format changes, companies out of business, changing to OS (Linux, ...) that doesn't have the DRM appropriate software, etc, etc...
So, for instance, do you convert all your DRM music to DRM-free formats? Or how do you answer the above question for yourself?
I emphasize that I'm talking about personal and legal backups here, and no more than that.
    thanks for sharing!
    Fred

  • Creating DRM-Protected Content for Playback in Quicktime

I would like to create some protected audio content, not for sale, but so that only authorized persons can listen to it. Since I have had problems with Windows Media DRM, I am wondering whether a private person can create DRM-protected content that Quicktime can play back. I don't know how authorizations would work and I am not intending to stream the content, just to make it available for download.
Does anyone know about this? Any ideas? A series of Google searches on Apple's website produced nothing relevant.

Sorry, but there is no scheme for creating copy protection in a QuickTime file, at least none that are practical. There was Media Keys, but that was only supported by the SorensonVideo 3 codec. Apple has not made the DRM they use for the iTunes Store available to other users.
The only way I can think of to copy-protect a QuickTime file for a web site would be to either put the download on a password-protected web page or wrap the QuickTime file in a password-protected archive of some format (Stuffit can password-protect an archive and there are probably other solutions as well).
