Ampersand problem

Hi guys,
My application has multiple select lists some of the values contain ampersands causing a cascading select list not to work, so i decided to replace the values with '&amp.'. The problem with this tho is that at some point i am exporting a report to a pdf template which in turn displays &amp. instead of the ampersand which isin't what i want. So is there a better way of converting the ampersand within APEX so that it still likes the cascading process but the export contains ampersands??

Stefan

The character entity is *&* not *&amp.*
Instead of converting *&* in the database to *&* (which is what I assume you're talking about), use the htf.escape_sc function on the LOV label columns in your select list LOVs to escape the ampersands only in this context.

  • Ampersand problem in numbers

    Serious problems with passing "&" in HyperLink function for example this
    =HYPERLINK("https://www.google.com/finance?fct=big&q="&B108,B108)
    where B108 is a cell containing "AAPL" text.
    will be  passed to SAFARI as:
    https://www.google.com/finance?fct=big%26q=AAPL
    that is & gets replaced by %26 which google DOES  NOT understand.
    Any suggestion?

    It seems to work correctly, for me, when I use the formula hyperlink formula in an iWork document on my computer.  It, however, does NOT work correctly from the document you shared in iCloud.
    B.T.W.
    %26 is the ascii code the the "&" character.   So this seems like a bug in the iCloud rendetion of Numbers.  Perhaps provide feedback to Apple
    In addition if I do this it works in the iWork doc:

  • PDFs using BI publisher and special characters - pound sterling

    I have a table with character strings which include the £ pound sterling sign.
    If I create an xml file from the table using the escape sequence for the pound sign & # 163; and load it into BI publisher, the pdf renders correctly using an rtf template.
    If I include the pound sign in the rtf template itself the pdf renders correctly and if I use a report query in Apex based on the table, and an rtf template then the pdf renders correctly.
    However there is a limit to the number of columns that can be sent to BI via the report query - we have found this to be 119 columns. For more than this we have been using a stored function to return xml data as a clob and use the clob to generate the pdf with the rtf report layout (using get_print_document). This method works fine but the pound sign is not rendered correctly (appears as "?").
    The NLS_LANG is set to english_united kingdom in the database and in BI publisher. The locale in bi publisher is en_GB. BI will create the pdf correctly with the pound sign if using a standard xml file (with escape seq for pound) so I am sure it is not a language issue in BI/Apex.
    Any ampersands in the xml cause the pdf to fail completely and we cannot represent special characters with a sequence containing the ampersand for this reason. I have tried "& # 163;" and "& amp;#163;" and variations and have also tried using CDATA, none of which gives the correct pdf output. I have also tried to switch the encoding to Windows-1252 or ISO-8859-1 in the header of the xml (xml generated by stored procedure so can control this), but this gives incorrect results too.
    We also need to send other special characters to BI via get_print_document and apex (bullet points, ampersands, dashes ) but cannot use the escape sequences because of the ampersand problem.
    Has anyone had any success with this?
    Is there any plan ( for a future version of Apex) to increase the number of columns that can be used in report query using Apex/BI publisher?
    Thanks
    Kathryn

    Hi Kathryn
    I've had exactly the same problem as you've mentioned.
    Firstly, I've also found that I cannot select more than 119 columns from a view using a report query and have opted to the use the stored function to return the xml (same as you).
    After conducting a lot of searching and experimenting i've found that you can use the following escape characters in REPLACE in your stored function:-
    '£' can be replaced with CHR(194)||CHR(163)
    '%' can be replaced with '%25'
    '&' can be replaced with '%26amp;'
    I found the above escape characters from the xml file or by opening the xml file in Wordpad. Therefore I'm sure you'll be able to find the escape characters for the other symbols that you mentioned i.e. bullet points, dashes etc.
    I hope this has helped. Good luck and let me know if you get any developments with the limitation on the number of columns that can be selected from a report query as this would save a lot of trouble (as I'm sure you're aware).
    Thanks
    Natalie

  • Flash Player 10.2 Projector (debug) for Linux

    The links on the flash player 10.2 download page for linux (http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html)
    seem to still point to the 10.1 version.  At least, when I download and run those, the 'about' dialog says it is version 10,1,102,64.  Where are the 10.2 flash player links for linux?

    If you download the Linux Projector from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and execute it, the About dialog states 10.2.152.28
    The previous version with the ampersand problem was 10.2.152.27 and I had downloaded it from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html (which is still there in that page, look for Flash Player 10.2.152.26 (65.9 MB), although it states .26, the Linux projector inside that archive is .27)

  • Problem with display of ampersand in reports

    I enter the following text into a "notes" item on a page:
    Send request to AT&T.
    When I use this notes item in a report the following is displayed:
    Send request to AT
    Note the ampersand and the T are missing.
    If I remove the period at the end of the note:
    Send request to AT&T
    The report displays properly:
    Send request to AT&T
    If I append text to the original note like this:
    Send request to AT&T for test.
    The report note will display properly:
    Send request to AT&T for test.
    The issue seems caused by the period following AT&T. This is APEX 3.2.1.00.12.
    Besides the work around of editing the text, does anyone know what else might fix the problem?

    Doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary there.
    The obvious solution is to escape the ampersand, which will stop it being specially treated by either APEX or HTML:
    SELECT n.note_id, l.lce_type, htf.escape_sc(n.note) note, n.created_by, n.created_date, n.last_updated_by, n.last_updated
    FROM ticket_lces l, lce_notes n
    WHERE l.ticket_id = :P33_TICKET_ID
    AND l.lce_id = n.lce_idAlthough I'm not sure why this is necessary. Can't say I've come across a report column doing this before...
    Standard or interactive report?
    If it's a standard report: What is the Display As property of the <tt>note</tt> column? Is there any post-query manipulation of the <tt>note</tt> column in the report: HTML Expression, Link etc?

  • Multiple (but separate) domain problem & Apple's slow and useless response

    I am having problem with multiple (but separate) domain. I opened a ticket.
    Here is Apple's slow and useless response and my follow up.
    This follow up is not going to resolve the issues I am having. The sites are not in one domain file. I have split them into separate domains. I found that the simplest change to any page made the publishing process extremely and reasonably slow. If I updated a single site, iWeb republishes the whole conglomeration; hardly the most efficient way.
    I have several directories under the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory with separate Domain.sites2 files for each site:
    consultingAM.com
    DarkAssassinMovie.com
    Fuzzy Llama Junior Optimist Club
    GulfportOptimist.com
    OptimistView
    pAwesomeProductions.com
    www.nfdoi.com
    With the previous version of iWeb, I navigated to a specific ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory, selected the Domain.site file, and opened it. This would open iWeb with the selected domain. Several of the sites have their blog page with the RSS subscribe option.
    Once I made the update, all I usually had to do was publish site and all was well. Occasionally, I would have to do a publish all if I changed domains. All in all, I had no problems with publishing once I found the right steps to be able to maintain multiple domains.
    Now, using the default publish or publish all process, all I get is the last site I published. In order to get things semi-functional, I published a site, then I would go to iDisk/Web/Sites/ directory, select the folder name for the site I had just published, then copy it or move it to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb directory. This was rather slow and I suspect it is not an approved solution, but it semi-worked. My sites are back up, but they are not fully functional.
    Is there anyway to get back to using the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory (separate Domain.sites file for each site) process to publish multiple sites? If not, is there any way to suck in the various domains back into one? If that is possible, will it take hours to publish the combined 2-3GB like it did with the previous version?
    How do I reverse the 'personal domain' process? I do not want to do this at this time. I just wanted to see what the steps were. I have done the first step, but not the second.
    I was glad to see some of the changes made in the upgrade (web widgets, maps, html snippets, theme switching), but I am too happy about the changes made by the upgrade process. In the past, I upgraded my Apple related stuff as soon as it came out. Based on this upgrade, that won't happen again.
    It took you guys 5 days to get back to me (during which time several of my sites were down) and I do not believe the information you provided is going to solve my specific problems. I am very disappointed with the results of this upgrade. Clearly there was inadequate testing of this product before it was released. I cannot recall seeing the Apple discussion forums with hundreds of topics and thousands of posts within a week or two of a new release. Apple had to upgrade iWeb in the first week, another poor sign.
    Apple is beginning to slip back to the pack; all vendors all below average. Apple is getting more like Microsoft everyday. First Apple delays the release of an OS upgrade so they can concentrate on a freaking phone, now you release software that is so buggy it should be classified as beta at best.
    Some of the changes/problem I am seeing since the upgrade (in addition to the problems mentioned previously) are:
    layout changes; some of my pages no longer look the same; same of the changes are so bad the pages are unreadable
    broken photo pages; some of my photo pages no longer work; some of them have no text or pictures
    file/page name changes; why would Apple change the location of the files; now my domains are not pointing right location; special characters (like spaces, ampersands, etc.) are handled differently in this version; specifically, I see that spaces are changed to underscores (_); iWeb used to use '%20' for spaces; what was Apple thinking?
    broken 3rd party themes; I know Apple is not responsible for 3rd party themes, but you should certainly be aware that they exist
    Based on what I am seeing online, most of the people who are complaining about major iWeb issues are not newbies; based on the technical details in the threads, there are clearly some experienced people who are trying to figure things outw. I have lost many hours trying to figure this mess out. I now have to review hundreds of pages to try get things to look and work the way they did before the upgrade. I have had to handle dozens of phone calls and emails from my viewers and subscribers trying to explain the situation.
    I googled 'iweb 08 *****' and got nearly 50,000 hits! I think Apple better get in front of this train before it gets run over.

    Dear David,
    I understand that you are experiencing an issue viewing some of your websites published in iWeb:
    I have examined all of the published pages and they appear to load and function as expected. If you published your website to .Mac, you can visit it either of these ways:
    - In iWeb, click the Visit button in the lower-left corner.
    - Enter the following URL into a web browser:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/
    If you have published more than one website, the URL above will take you to the default website, which is the first website listed in iWeb. To visit another website you have created in iWeb, use the following URL format:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/YourSiteName
    Using this form, the web addresses for the two sites you mentioned would be:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/FuzzyLlamaJuniorOptimist.com
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/pAwesomeProductions.com
    To change the default website, simply open iWeb, and in the Site Organizer, drag the desired default website to the top and republish to .Mac.
    NOTE: Be sure to give each website a unique name. This will help prevent one website from overwriting another. For further information, refer to the following article:

    If you still experience issues with the website, try the following troubleshooting steps:
    WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES
    If your website has movies, you may need to wait several minutes after going to the website before the movies are ready to play. The QuickTime Player icon indicates that a movie is still loading.
    CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE
    If you use Safari, you can clear your browser cache by choosing Empty Cache from the Safari menu. If you use another browser, consult that browser’s documentation if you need assistance in clearing your browser cache.
    UPDATE YOUR BROWSER
    Make sure you are using the latest available version of your web browser when viewing pages published in iWeb. If you use Safari, you can check for updates by choosing Software Update from the Apple menu. If there are any available Safari, Security, or Mac OS X updates, install those updates and try looking at your website again.

    Just got off the phone with Apple Support.  There procedure was the following:
    1.  Go to the Apple TV, select settings, general and scroll down to reset.
    2.  Select reset and then select reset all
    Apple TV will go through a restart after the reset and you will have to select your network then log in with your network or Airport Express password.  You will then have to turn on home sharing and It will then ask you for your Apple ID for the iTunes store and then the password.  At this point you may not see your library, because the Apple TV wants you to turn on home sharing on your home computer that is hosting the movie library.  Turn off home sharing on that computer, restart iTunes and turn on home sharing again.  After this is done you should be able to see you library listed under the computer.
    After going through these steps, when I select an HD movie from my iTunes library the movie comes up after about a 5 second delay.
    Hope this helps!  I am back up for business.

    Probably because "latin-9" doesn't exist?
    # nano /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fr
    xkb_symbols "latin9" {
    include "latin"
    include "nbsp(level3)"
    name[Group1]="French (legacy, alternative)";
    key <TLDE> { [ oe, OE, leftdoublequotemark, rightdoublequotemark ] };
    key <AE01> { [ ampersand, 1, dead_acute, periodcentered ] };
    key <AE02> { [ eacute, 2, asciitilde, Eacute ] };
    Try it without the dash (without the "-").
    And don't forget to mark it as solved (by editing the first post).

    My setup is this: I have a PC connected directly to a adsl-modem via a netcard, and via a second netcard (and a crossed cable) i have a second PC connected to the first, both are running Archlinux, the first is up to date, but the second is 0.6 (since i can't update...).
    The 2 PC's have no problems communicating, ping and ssh is working perfectly both ways.
    To share the connection, i have this in the rc.conf:
    The one connected to the modem:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="dhcp"
    eth1="eth1 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    INTERFACES="lo eth0 eth1"
    # Routes to start at boot-up (in this order)
    # Declare each route then list in ROUTES
    # (prefix a route in ROUTES with a ! to disable it)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    The one needing the connection:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    #eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
    # Routes to start at boot-up (in this order)
    # Declare each route then list in ROUTES
    # (prefix a route in ROUTES with a ! to disable it)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    ROUTES=(gateway)
    And i have this "firewall" installed on the one connected to the internet:
    #!/bin/sh
    # rc.firewall-2.4
    FWVER=0.75
    # Initial SIMPLE IP Masquerade test for 2.4.x kernels
    # using IPTABLES.
    # Once IP Masquerading has been tested, with this simple
    # ruleset, it is highly recommended to use a stronger
    # IPTABLES ruleset either given later in this HOWTO or
    # from another reputable resource.
    # Log:
    # 0.75 - Added more kernel modules to the comments section
    # 0.74 - the ruleset now uses modprobe vs. insmod
    # 0.73 - REJECT is not a legal policy yet; back to DROP
    # 0.72 - Changed the default block behavior to REJECT not DROP
    # 0.71 - Added clarification that PPPoE users need to use
    # "ppp0" instead of "eth0" for their external interface
    # 0.70 - Added commented option for IRC nat module
    # - Added additional use of environment variables
    # - Added additional formatting
    # 0.63 - Added support for the IRC IPTABLES module
    # 0.62 - Fixed a typo on the MASQ enable line that used eth0
    # instead of $EXTIF
    # 0.61 - Changed the firewall to use variables for the internal
    # and external interfaces.
    # 0.60 - 0.50 had a mistake where the ruleset had a rule to DROP
    # all forwarded packets but it didn't have a rule to ACCEPT
    # any packets to be forwarded either
    # - Load the ip_nat_ftp and ip_conntrack_ftp modules by default
    # 0.50 - Initial draft

    But it just won't work! If you can spot any problems please let me know!
    UPDATE:
    Just talked to my ISP, and they tell me that my IP-adress is locked to one PC. Could this be the problem? or does the forwarding handles this as well?

    Hey tgc, thank you for posting your problem so generously explained!
    I had no idea of how to do it, and I only had to change a small obvious typo to make it work. At least I suppose the typo is the reason for your sharing not to work....
    Lets see...did you change the
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    to
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    just now? I'm sure I had to change that, but I have a strange memory
    So, the way the configuraton looks now, works perfectly for sharing my isdn connection with my laptop over wlan.
    Desktop: isdn, eth0 -> wireless router / hub
    Laptop: wlan0
    So, what I'm saying anyway, is that your configuration works for me Thanks!

  • Calling a DLL with a & (ampersand) in the declaration

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call an external DLL and having issues calling an important function.  The 'FindDevices' call has the following declaration:
    long FindDevices(long &DeviceCount);
    I've never come across calling an external function with an ampersand (indicating that a reference, rather than a pointer, shall be passed) before.  Is this possible with LabView?
    I've tried many permutations of the DLL configuration, but it usually crashes the entire development environment.  Here is a link to the DLL and *.h file if you'd like to give it a shot.  It's a 64-bit DLL, and I've been developing this on 64-bit Labview and Windows 7 x64.  It also requires the configuration file 'ZStepperSettings.xml' to be in the same directory as the DLL.
    Thanks for your time.

    For scalars the C++ reference syntax should be equal to a standard C pointer. For other datatypes that is certainly not guaranteed. Since long is a scalar I would guess the problem to be elsewhere. Are you sure the calling convention is correct?
    Also the effect that it only causes the 1097 error sometimes, as well as crashing only sometimes is not so strange. There is no supervisor that can 100% surely detect if there is some memory violation during a call to an external function. Eventhough the parameter configuration is wrong or the DLL does something bad, this doesn't always result in a behaviour that LabVIEW could detect or would always cause a crash. It depends on the actual memory layout of your process at the moment this function is called if the error will be causing one of these problems. But be assured that if there is an error in how the function is configured or a bug in the function about how it access the memory especially for writing operation, something bad is done to the memory that will sooner or later cause very serious problems to your application.
    EDIT: It seems that while C++references for scalar types are usually implemented as pointers by the compiler, there is nothing in the C++ standard that mandates this nor defines in any way how they should be implemented. So basically C++ references are not a safe datatype to use if you want to allow a function to be callable by anything else than code compiled with the same C++ compiler. Basically anything C++ specific is not safe at all in that sense. And anything standard C conformant mostly only by convention and not by specific requirements set forth in the C standard.

  • Ampersands in query strings

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone has attempted to parse query strings that contain ampersands (&) or equals (=) in the parameter values.
    At the moment we have some working code to do this but it is kind of messy and complicated. If possible we would like to make use of Java classes to do this for us. I was thinking along the lines of using some or all of:
    Hashtable javax.servlet.http.HttpUtils.parseQueryString( String s)
    String java.net.URLDecoder.decode( String s)
    String java.net.URLEncoder.encode( String s)Has anyone managed to implement a parser using these classes? Basically the problem is determining where to split the name/value pairs when the delimiters may be included in the values.
    Just to give you an idea, try parsing the following URL
    http://someserver/servlet?parm1=val&ue&parm2=val=ue
    Craig

    Here's the thing:
    If submitting by form then req.getParameter(name) works fine for both types of parameter values.
    If submitting by link then req.getParameter(name)
    - Works for parameters with '=' in them
    - Doesn't work for values with '&' in them.
    I actually need to be able to parse a query string (the parameter list part of a link). However, it isn't specific to submission processing.
    I want to be able to parse the string generically regardless of whether it comes from the web or whether I call it from within the code.
    In short, I want to be able to take a string like Param1=Val&ue&Param2=Val=ue and split it into name/value pairs from anywhere in the code.
