Analytics tool in portal

Hi All,
Currently we are finding an information about the analytics tool whether it is there in portal provided by SAP??
As of now in market there are many third party portals where they can use tool for analytics in portal, is in the same way do SAP also any tool for analytics in portal??
I hope you might be aware of analytics about more.
Please get back to me then it would be great help to me.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
PortalUser100

The basic idea to use Google Analytics or Webtrends would be similar.
You will need to develop a JavaScript which will be embedded within all the Portal Pages that will transfer all the required data over to the Webtrends server.
Does SAP have something built in? Is this a good option or should we consider something else?
Have you read the first link I have provided above ? This is what SAP provides you by default (built in).
What ever you were talking about analytics tool in SAP & intergration with portal or portal activity reports??
Analytics tool is a means by which you can get usage statistics of your portal. The built in portal activity reports also give you some limited amount of usage statistics.
Are the both the needs are different?
"Both" - what do you mean ?
Please get back to us indetail...
Instead of asking a series of questions asking to explain topics in "detail", try to read the links that have been provided and understand the process and terminology.
If you have any "specific" implementation questions for which you cannot find related posts - you are welcome to post them out here.
Hope that helps !!

  • Activity Data Collector & Web Analytics Tool

    Hello,
Has anyone used a Web Analytics tool, such as WebTrends, to analyze the Activity Data Collector logs/files?
I would appreciate your input on this matter. We are looking to tack/report on the portal usage (iViews, pages, etc).
    Regards,
    Omar

    Hi Omar,
Why not go for Portal Activity Report to monitor Portal Activities and also users.
The portal activity report feature enables portal administrators to gather and present information about portal activity, including information about the users who logged on to the portal and about the content that was viewed.
The feature includes an iView that can display a portal activity report with one of the following:
    a) Information about the number of users who logged on during a specified period of time
This type of portal activity report also displays a graphic showing the change in the number of users logged on over time.
    b) Information about the users who logged on
    c) Information about the number of users who visited each page and iView.

  • Does Oracle iStore 11i support integration with any analytics tool ?

    Hi
We are planning to implement analytics with Oracle iStore 11i . However it seems like there is an integration possible with Oracle web analytics in R12. and there seems no such facility in 11i. Or is there one?
Also is there there any means available in Oracle iStore 11i to integrate with external Analytics tools like Google Analytics.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Srinivas

    Hello Srinivas,
iStore introduces integration with Web Analytics in Release 12. There is no integration in Release 11i.
We have no documented way for integration with the Google Analytics.
Note that iStore allows users the flexibility to modify the jsp's to meet your business needs. Therefore, you could modifiy to enable tracking by Google Analytics.
We do not have any seeded integration.
Please advise on any additional questions.
    Thank you,

  • Third party tool in portal

    Hi
Where is the extract location in the portal where we implement third party tools.

What exactly do you mean by "third party tools". The more information you supply the more likely someone will be able to help you. By putting as little information as possible, then there is a chance that no-one will be able to help you
Therefore, if you defined what you mean by that statement, then perhaps I might be able to help

  • Connecting ABAP tool with Portal..

    Hi All,
I have one requirement where i have to connect ABAP tool, that is developed in WebDynpro ABAP. Now i am connecting that with Url iview, that is working fine.
But my problem arises when i have to pass userid and his pwd to that iview. That iview should display him his data. The data will be:
His project allocation, worklist summary, worklist items, project plan etc.
This is only for him and should be visible to him only.
In summary there is one workbench for a user that he can update and modify.
My question is how to connect this system with the portal.
i have tried with the Generic par. how to proceed ???
Do i have to pass the application param. in an iview??
    Thanks in advance

    Piyush,
You should first create a new portan System object that you setup so it points to your ABAP server.
    See here for details: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ec/0fe43d19734b5ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
Then when done with that you create a new iView based on the WebDynpro template. The wizzard for this type will ask you if you want this iView to be for WD ABAP or WD JAVA.
    See here for details: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/1d/e4a34273f60b31e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • Using the BR*tools in portal

    Hi all,
I am trying to use the BR*tools from a oracle database but having trouble setting the environment variables for the tool.  I'm on a windows platform.  Do I change these variables in the system part of the control panel?
    Thanks,
    Jin Bae

Make sure to login with oracle user to run the BRTOOLS. This makes it easy.
Please check your environment parameter for ORACLE_HOME. If this is not set, BR tools can not talk to ORACLE.
BR TOOLS also works even if you login with SID id, if and only if the SID ID is part of DBA group.
This can be verified with the owner & group of the BR Tools from kernel directory.
    Let me know the status.

  • OT -- Website Performance Analytics Tools

I came across this Speed test utility for web masters and thought other might find it useful.
    http://www.indeep76.com/

Sorry about the delay - I've just been trying out!
WSM will add the website folder on the iDisk from the "Configure" menu. It then optimizes the files and puts them in the WSM output folder on your hard drive. Probably not the answer you want to hear!
For me to try putting the output folder on my iDisk would cause me big problems but I don't see why it couldn't be done.
WSM will, of course, optimize and upload back to your iDisk, from the output folder, in one pass.

  • Calendar Analytics application won't install with MS Office 2013 on PC

I use Calendar Analytics, a Microsoft approved application, to analyze Outlook Calendars for utilization rates within my facility. It has worked well for me for several years. Since I
upgraded to Microsoft Office 2013, I cannot get Calendar Analytics to install on my PC. I receive an error message stating Office Shared Tools is required and I should run Office 2010 setup to install Office Shared Tools.
Please assist me in locating a way to resolve this issue either by installing the required version of Office Shared Tools or installing a compatible Outlook Calendar Analytics application
which will provide utilization information from Outlook calendars.
    Benny

    Hi Benny,
The Calendar Analytics Tool allows users to connect to their Microsoft Exchange Calendar and get dashboard views on meeting statistics inside Microsoft Office Excel 2010.
Therefore, to use this tool, please note that Calendar Analytics works only with the latest versions of Microsoft® Excel 2010 and of Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010. To download Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010, please go to
    www.PowerPivot.com.
For more information about this tool, please refer to the System Requirements part in the following article:

  • How to Count Number of "Visits" or "Visitors" on a Public Portal?

I have a publicly accessible Portal that does not require users to login. As such, in the performance reporting logs, most every user is PUBLIC. This doesn't allow me to provide standard Visitor Analysis metrics (like unique visitors, new visitors, pages per visit, etc.). Using the Session count doesn't work for me either, because our server team has the KeepAlive directive turned off, so basically, every request is a new session, which really skews the analysis.
Has anyone encountered this before? Or, can someone tell me what the best practices are for the KeepAlive Apache directive and other related configuration items?
    Thanks!

The kind of metrics you are looking for is often referred to as 'Business Centric Portal Analytics'. Oracle Portal provides the performance monitoring scripts for tuning and troubleshooting your Portal. It does not provide any functionality other metrics.
You may want to look at offerings from Omniture. More information regarding their offering is available in the white paper 'How to Effectively Measure and Monitor Activity in Your Portal
    Environment' on OTN :

  • Error in Oracle BI EE Analytics when running a direct database request

This is in the Oracle Answers portion of the Analytics tool. When a query is entered into the Direct Database Query text box and the "Validate SQL and Retrieve Columns" button is clicked, the columns are indeed returned (which would seem to indicate that the connection pool settings are correct etc.), but when I click on the results tab it throws an error:
    View Display Error
Error generating view. You don't currently have the necessary privileges to execute Direct Database Requests.
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OAMP2OPY:Q4NU7XSN
Invalid Handle Of 'class saw::NQWebView *' Exception
I am at a loss trying to figure this error out - clearly it is connected to the DB since it can see column names, and I was able to use the Administration tool to create a repository which Analytics can use, so why can't I directly query my database? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the setting has not been set to allow you to execute a direct database query.
You can do this by logging into the Presentation services as the Administrator user. Clicking on the Settings tab and then selecting the Administration option. On the Oracle BI Presentation Services Administration window select the Manage Privileges option. This brings up the Privileges Administration window, scroll down to the Answers section (listed on the left) and check the Execute Direct Database Requests privilege setting this is defaulted to let no one execute Direct SQL request. Reset the privileges such that the group that the user trying to execute the direct database request belongs to is set to be able to execute the direct database requests. This should alleviate the error that you are getting.
    I hope that this helps.
