I am looking for step-by-step resource (a fully tested one) that outlines the procedure to set up Z10 (OS: 10.2.1.2977) for installing/running Android apps.

  • Run Android Apps on Blackberry Z10

    This Topic has been Moved for correct placement

    Hi and Welcome to the Community! Here is one:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Downloaded-Applications/You-Upgraded-to-OS-10-2-1-and-want-to-run-Android-Apps-on-Your/td-p/2784957#nobannerIt's not the formal Google Play Store...Google and BB continue to not play well together. Google Play Services require significant "hacking" to get them to work on BB10 devices, and remain less than 100% effective. Basically, try SNAP and see if the apps you want are there and will function...if not, then seek out other sources of APKs, which you can directly install to your device. Those that work are good, those that don't work...well, they don't work. Good luck!

  • Android app for my Z10

    I recently acquired a shutter triggering device made by MIOPS for my Canon 7D MK II camera, but their app is only available on Andriod. I know Blackberry can use some Android apps, do I stand any chance of getting the MIOPS app for my Z10, and if so, can someone help me find the way? Thanks everyone.

    no, that's not possible and advisable however, you can consider using Amazon app store (pre-installed app) or downloading third party stores that supports Android and iOS apps.

    Thanks for the question.

  • How do I change the Version Code in the Flash Android settings Android app market?

    I recently tried to update my app in the Android app market and when I uploaded it I got the following message:
    "The new apk's versionCode (1000000) already exists."
    In the Flash Adnroid settings I changed the version label but that did not help.
    So I have two questions:
    How do I change the Version code in the Flash Android settings? I changed the version number and version label but that did not work.
    What is the difference between the version number and version label?

    I tried that but it did not work. Apparently there is a difference between the version code and version number (which is set in the Android settings). From my research the version label is optional, so there are no problems there.
    This is the what the XML file says:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
    <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
      <id>com.company.nameofapp</id>
    //Below is the correct version number, but has no relation to the version code.
      <versionNumber>1.1.0</versionNumber>
      <versionLabel>NewLayout</versionLabel>
      <filename>Name of app</filename>
      <description/>
    I did find this piece of information for Androin version codes. (http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/versioning.html)  But I don't know how to place it into the xml file without conflicting with other code.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
          package="com.example.package.name"
          android:versionCode="2"
          android:versionName="1.1">
        <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name">
        </application>
    </manifest>
    Any other thoughts are much appreciated.

    Hi,
    You can't, they use two DIFFERENT Operating Systems. You may be able to get SIMILAR apps (same functions, same names) but you can't move apps from Android to Windows. My suggestion: On your HP 15 machine, use Windows Store and search for app or apps you like and then install on it.
    Regards.

  • Dreamweaver and PhoneGap: How to Edit the Application Manifest for an Android app

    I successfully created an Android app using dreamweaver cs6 and the PhoneGap build service.  I submitted the app and it is live in Google Play.  The only problem is that the app is requiring all kinds of permissions from users that are not necessary for the app.  The app requires Internet access, but it does not require access to the camera or the user's contacts, etc.  I understand that this information is held in the Application Manifest file, but I don't know where that file is.
    Can you help me figure out how to edit the Application Manifest file for my android app?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    To edit permissions, you do so in the config.xml file. After making changes, you can directly upload on build.phonegap.com or from within Dreamweaver.
    See this page for info on customizing config.xml: https://build.phonegap.com/docs/config-xml#features

  • How to publish android app with the new AIR 2.6 ?

    Please anyone can help to instruct the correct way to install the new AIR SDK?
    I work with Flash IDE and don't know how to link them...
    And another noob question, are there any differences between "AIR Android" and "Adobe AIR 2" in publish settings when I'm going to create an android app with up-to-date AIR version? I was very confused by the scenario that as long as I upgraded to AIR2.6 SDK, "AIR Android" remains 2.5 though "Adobe AIR2" will surely be 2.6?
    Much appreciated for any help.

    To create an APK package, use the ADT package command, setting the target type to apk for release builds, apk-debug for debug builds, or apk-emulator for release-mode builds for running on an emulator.
    adt     -package
        -target apk
        -storetype pkcs12 -keystore ../codesign.p12
        myApp.apk
        myApp-app.xml
        myApp.swf icons
    Type the entire command on a single line; line breaks in the above example are only present to make it easier to read. Also, the example assumes that the path to the ADT tool is on your command-line shell’s path definition. (See Path environment variables for help.)
    You must run the command from the directory containing the application files. The application files in the example are myApp-app.xml (the application descriptor file), myApp.swf, and an icons directory.
    When you run the command as shown, ADT will prompt you for the keystore password. (The password characters you type are not displayed; just press Enter when you are done typing.)

  • You Upgraded to OS 10.2.1 and want to run Android Apps on Your BB10? Install Snap to Your Device!

    If you've upgraded to OS 10.2.1.x on your BB10 device you can now install any free Android app directly to your BB10 smartphone directly without any special converting and without the need to connect to your PC.  This opens up BB10 to the thousands of Android apps available in the Google Play store.  However, you need an app to quickly search for and install these Android apps.
    The best app available so far is called Snap.  Unfortunately, Snap can't be installed directly to the device since it's a native BlackBerry app and is not yet available in the BlackBerry App Store.  However, it can be quickly loaded to your BB10 device using your PC.
    Here is a quick and easy way of installing Snap on your BB10 device using your PC.  Once Snap is installed on your device you won't need your computer to install Android apps on your device!
    1.   Download Sachesi for your computer Platform, i.e. Windows, Mac, Linux (Don't download the Sachesi bar file for BlackBerry or the apk file for Android)
    Sachesi
    2.  Download Snap from here:
    Snap
    3.  Connect your BB with the USB cable.
    4.  Double click on the Sachesi app you downloaded.
    5.  When it opens, click the "Install" tab. (If your device requires a password enter it here.)
    6.  Drag the Snap bar filed you downloaded in step 2 into the box under the install tab.  As soon as you drop the file it will load to the device.
    7.  That's it!  You can disconnect your device and enjoy direct downloading of Android apps on your BB10 device by opening Snap and using your Google Account.
    Note:  Not all Android apps will run on the BB10 and, occasionally, an app will not work quite as expected.  However, the vast majority do run normally.

    Hello John_Clark  Excellent contribution. Valuable information for all who want to upgrade and not wait until the update is releasedby our operator. It would also make a good listing of operators which has released 10.2.1
    And which have not yet released. Regards.
