Animation of letters filling

Is it possible to animate text/object with 'end' in after effects just like you do with strokes? How can I achieve this? See the video and you'll understand what I wan't to achieve.

Using Adobe After Effects CC

You'll want to use the completed text as a track matte, and animate something filling up on the layer below.  Or just shoot some video of a liquid filling a clear container and use it.
And to learn AE, don't count on lame tutorials from high school kids on YouTube.

  • Adding animations causes letters in Hebrew to be cut off

    Hello
    I'm using Keynote 6.0.1 (1486).
By and large, the Hebrew is working very well. However, if I add animations to a presentation (just simple stuff like having bullet points appear one at a time), the final letter on each line gets cut off some how. It might be the whole letter; it might be a bit of it.
Either way, animations are doing something odd to the end of lines in Hebrew.

You might try different fonts, but I suspect this is a bug Apple has to fix.  Let them know via

  • Video/animation "blinks" at beginning and end when viewed on iPad

    Hi,
I have a Captivate 6 file that I published and uploaded to a website. Within this file is one slide with a recorded animation (tapping letters on an iPad keyboard). When I published this course to HTML5 and SWF and double-click the index.html file in IE9 on my computer, the video runs fine. However, when I access this same file using Safari on an iPad, there is a "blink" at the beginning of this animation and at the end. I see the video for a second, then a blank screen, then the video starts. Same at the end.
Does anyone know how I can remove that "blinking" or why it is happening?
    Thank you,
    Michele

Without knowing your exact version of PPro and system specs, I encountered this issue on the way back machine during version 1.5.  The fix was to render out the timeline to an uncompressed wav, put that onto it's own track, mute the other tracks and then render out the final video.
You could also try closing PPro and importing the sequence into AME and render it that way.
If using non-native media (the audio is conformed), you might want to close PPro, delete the cache/conform files, reopen the project and have it re-conform.

  • CS4 - Deco Tool- How to animate Grid Fill?

    Hello Everybody,
If you haven't seen the Deco Tool do a Grid Fill, it's
pretty awesome. The only problem is, that unlike it's big(more
complex) brother: "Vine Fill", it lacks the option box called:
"Animate Pattern"(Which animates the Vine Fill, enlarging the
timeline till the Vine Fill, fills the stage, as a beautiful new
    animation).
    Why must this be?
    This was so mean.
    This was the ultimate tease!
    What's up Flash CS4 Developers!?
    lol
    Not cool.

Any hope for a method of animating the Grill Fill of the Deco
Tool? (That is until you update Flash CS4 and give it the obvious
animation option that it is surly missing)

Isn't making your own fills for the deco tool kinda a big

  • How to monospace fonts in Illustrator?

I can't seem to find this feature - is it possible to do this in Illustrator?
    Thanks in advance!

Good responses here, but I just wanted to add in one other solution. This is painstaking but I'm having to do it for a project. I literally need a grid of text. I'd much rather just have a monospace font. Illustrator, if you're listening, a "Force Monospace" option would be excellent for UI designers, puzzle designers, and a lot of other people. People go to illustrator to do the odd jobs that other programs can't do. This feature would be at home here.
The basic idea is to use linked text boxes and flowing text. This will be much easier to do in InDesign, since that program was born to flow text. I find it hard to click the flow button in CS5 and you can't hold option to continue the linkage process like you can in InDesign.
Anyways, details on how to do this below. If you absolutely need a monospace layout of text glyphs, and don't have a monospace font to work with, and need to work in illustrator, this should work. I'm not saying that it will look good or be legible, and I guarantee you'll curse Illustrator because this would be very easy for them to add in as a feature.
    1) Click and drag out a rectangular text box. Don't just click and start typing, you need an actual type box.
    2) Enter your text and style your text how you want it.  Use the increased tracking method, posted above, if you want to see  roughly what it will look like.
    3) Decrease the tracking so it's 0 after you have everything styled.
    4) Add an uppercase M to the beginning of your text. That's typically (no pun intended) the widest character in most fonts.
    5) Resize the text box width so all you can see is that first M. You can make it a little wider just to be safe.
    6) Drag out a copy of that text box, and delete the text from the new one.
    7) Drag out copies of this empty text box. They should "flow" from left to right for English or other left-to-right languages. You should have as many boxes as you have letter in your final text.
    8) Link the text boxes: first click on your text box that has your placeholder text. You should see a red overflow [+] sign on the right side of the box. Click that.
    9) Click the edges of the next text box and you should see text flow from one box to the next.
    10) Rinse and repeat until all your boxes are filled. As you're doing this, you'll have multiple smaller letters filling up smaller boxes. There are two way to solve this:
11A) Hit enter after each character to force the text to the next text box. This is cumbersome.
11B) Increase tracking to a very high number or something that will prohibit two characters from occupying the same box. This is good if you are going to want to edit the type after the fact.
    12) Horizontally align your boxes, center your text, and you're done.

  • Swf created at one frame rate, plays very slow in Captivate

Mac Leopard, Flash CS5, Captivate CS5 Demo, all updates applied to the CSS5 Suite
I created swf with one frame on the main timeline, all animation is done within a single movieclip on that frame. When published from flash it plays at my desired speed 30 FPS. When in Captivate it moves 1 fps.
Is this a standard for Captivate in playing the swf?
Additonally when I set to Durtation of animation its just fills the however long the time length is for the slide, even though the animation ends long before that.
Searched help, searched the forums, any recommendations or alternative search terms i should be using to find the answer.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Glad it worked, and sorry, do see it was your first posting and forgot to say Welcome on the Captivate forum.
Good question: I searched the Help and the only thing about synchronisation I found was what I paste at the bottom of this post. Perhaps you could add some comment in the Help about this subject? I did not check the videos and do not know about an existing manual?  Just know (how? out of experience) that it is best to synchronize, that is all.
    Have a nice day,
    Lilybiri

  • Java Graph code explanation

    Hi all,
im new to java and have some trouble drawing a graph i looked up some code but dont quite understand it
can someone explain the following code please. I understand swing and painting and basic java.
Q1) Can please explain the flow of execution ?
    Q2)
What i would also specifically like to understand about the code
is how does the graph keep going and looks like it scrolls across and not off the frame and how can i add this to a frame i already have
without covering over my other objects i have displayed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My touch screen is acting like it needs to be recalibrated. Sometimes I touch the screen and something an inch away activates.  When I try to  type in my password random letters fill  - ones I don't hit. Sometimes it ignores my touch completely.  I tried a reset but it did't help.  Any ideas?

Then it's a hardware failure as the touch screens on iOS devices can not be calibrated. Best chance to fix it is apple or a third party repair center.

  • Graphics help - screenfull of scrolling characters

I need a graphic for my timeline that shows the screen filling up with characters. It doesn't have to be crazy raining characters like in "The Matrix". Just a bunch of code or other english letters filling the screen.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

Not at my machine right now-- does the typewriter text effect still exist? I remember using it once back in v3. Less is more here. Try text on different layers at different sizes, moving, growing shrinking. You can also apply timecode generator filters with different start times, staggered around. It'll take some playing with to get what you're after. Also dive into livetype and see what you can find there.
    Have fun.

  • How to do I open illustrator files correctly into Photoshop?

I created type in Illustrator however, when I opened it in Photoshop two of the letters fill colour is darker than the rest. Could someone explain why this could be happening? I checked the colour modes for both programs and they're in RGB. Please see attached pictures

Yes, a "Smart Object" can be linked or embedded. When you "Place" an AI you will be offered the option of placing as a linked or embedded "Smart Object". This gives you the flexibility to scale without losing resolution. It also allows you to edit it in AI just by double-clicking it. You can also create a Vector Smart Object simply by copy-and-pasting elements from AI.
You can assign PS effects to the Smart Object layer just like any other layer.
I realize this does not answer your question about the color difference. I am still guessing it is in the AI file.
As for the "bar": look at this area of your file:
The horizontal "bar" has a triangle shape to it. Is that what you want? If not, I'm guessing there is an extra point on the line causing the triangle shape.

  • Importing Photoshop elements ... weird black boxes showing up in Motion.

When I try to import a layer from a PSD file into Motion, it imports with a strange black box of the same dimensions as the layer.
For instance, if I'm animating several letters of a word, and I import the letters separately, each letter comes into Motion bound within a black box ... almost as if I flattened the text against a black background.
    It's pretty annoying--any thoughts?

The problem lies with the psd file. Could be a couple of things. Presumably, there is a proper alpha channel in Photoshop?
Did you make sure that the image mode is set to RGB? Other color modes will give you strange results.
If you select the psd in the Media tab, what does the inspector say about the alpha interpretation.
Usually this works perfectly fine in Motion, so I'm leaning towards a problem with the picture.

  • How can I back up my files during a Kernel Panic?

Hello, I am new to these forums.
Okay, so last week I updated my Macbook Pro like I normally do (I'm assuming it was 10.5.7), but then when I restarted my macbook I saw the apple logo and then the screen turned grey and a bunch of numbers and letters filled the screen (which I now know is a Kernel Panic or something).
I am unable to login at all or even see the log-in screen, all I can get to is the apple logo when I first turn on the computer. I plan on making an appointment at my local apple store, but they told me to back up any files I didn't want to lose.
    So my question is...
How can i back up my files during a Kernel Panic if I can't even log in?
I have my original disks from when I got my macbook pro if that's any help?
Should I just tell my local apple store that I need help backing up my files?
    or am I screwed?
    Thanks for any help

Well, when I turn it on a box appears over the apple logo and says something like "please restart your machine or hold the power button for 7 seconds".
and the numbers and letters appear random to someone like me but I'm sure it says something to someone who knows about it. At the very beginning of the "random" numbers and letter it says something about kernel and panic and I googled some of the message and it kept leading me to other people who said it was a kernel panic.
Also I tried to start it while holding shift and it never goes to single user mode it just does the same thing as if I never pushed or held shift. I'll try the whole firewire thing if I can figure it out, but I don't have another mac so I'd have to do it with a PC.
Edit: Also I did one of those hardware tests using the osx dvd and the short test said i have an error (and when i googled that error it brought me to people with kernel panics) but when I did the extended test that took about an hour and a half it came back saying everything was fine.

  • Not getting a true swf resize when resizing swf in captivate

I am using Captivate to generate a certain animation, that is
an external swf, played by a larger swf. OK, this is unusual.
The original problem is that when I authored the captivate to
the correct size (110 x 110 pixels), the animated text letters were
unacceptably aliased, choppy. No problem I thought. I'll simply
create a captivate 220x220, then publish at 50% size and thus have
an anti-aliased and good looking text in my little animation. And
it does look good when I preview it in Captivate.
However I notice that when I use the master swf to play the
reduced captivate swf (I do not define in the master swf what size
the reduced captivate swf should display at), it keeps wanting to
display at 220x220! This is very odd. Is captivate not really
natively reducing the size of the swf when I publish to be reduced?
    Your help would be appreciated!

Instead of extending JPanel in ColeMain, why not extend JFrame?? Then you will be able to explicitly set the size.
From your main method, you will be able to remove the part where you instantiate the new JFrame. You only have to instantiate the instance of class ColeMain.
Use the setSize method on the JFrame simply by using setSize(int, int), instead of myframe.setSize().

  • Speeding up Working and Rendering

I'm using an older Mac Pro 3,1 (quad core, 2.8 ghz, 16 Gb ram) with AE CS6. I know about the nVidia cards, and plan to upgrade to one of those when I can, but in the mean time ...
Rastered files from Photoshop (like 20 images all less than 450px X 450px) all but brings AE to its knees here (10 images 3D layers, 10 more not 3D). Just moving things around on the screen for desired placement takes about 65 seconds for screen refresh (at full size 1920x1080 and 1/3 resolution), which means placing 10 images with accuracy can take an hour. Photoshop, by comparison (at 64-bit) is a speed-demon on this machine. Not so After Effects, particularly with rastered imagery. It's taking over a minute to preview each frame (1/2 size at 1/4 rez), and about 15 minutes to render each frame at full size, which means it's going to take 24 hours to get 4 seconds at 24pfs.
I've read some blogs and helpfile suggestions on how to speed up workflow, and am integrating those principles as I go, but is this all-day-long slowness with rastered stills what I should expect from After Effects? Or are there other non-hardware things I can do to speed things up?

I'm going to take that as good news, and a clear indication I'm doing something stupid.
Here is a typical image set, each from a layer in a larger many-layered Ps file (flattened and loaded into AE as one flat layer each with NO Fx): Letter, and Shadow
The third is showing how the two images end up together in AE.
This is a very simple animation of letters "falling down" to form a word. There are 10 letters, and 10 corresponding shadows. Each letter is "around" 450x450, with a shadow element of the same size. The color letters are each on a 3D layer, and each "shadow" is on a normal layer, making 20 layers total. They are at 2/3 size when at rest, but a bit larger as they begin to fall, hence the larger rez. The shadow has changing gaussian blur and opacity as the color letter moves toward it. There is one set of keyframes for the first letter and its shadow, and expressions with time-offset for all the other letters and shadows.
It rendered all night, and now I have 31 frames ...
What else can I tell you?

I could choose the name/word to enter into the cell. This saved many strokes. If I was typing a word with only one like it previously entered, that word would appear, grayed, and I could simply tab to the next cell, automatically entering that word in that cell. Is this feature in this version of Numbers? The autofill tab 1)I can't turn it on and 2) it doesn't seem to do the same thing.
    Thanks.

The developers failed to propagate that feature from version 2 to version 3. I believe it is on the short list of things to be restored in May 2014 or so.
