[Ann] D.eval() API brings eval() to Flex 2

The D.eval() (read DEE-val) API is a SWC library for Flex 2
applications to execute text strings of dynamic ActionScript
expressions and programs.
The language used in D.eval() is called Deval, a subset of
ActionScript 3 (AS3). It supports all the AS3 expressions
(including E4X) and most flow control statements; it can access any
AS3 classes and functions; it does not define functions and
classes. D.eval() opens a whole new world to Flex 2 applications
and development.
The current version is 1.0-Beta, which is fully functional.
Check it out at [Adobe | Exchange | Flex | Libraries], or visit the
web site at
http://www.riaone.com/daseval/
Have lots of fun with the D.eval() API!
P.S. D.eval() was released under a different name about a
month ago. It is renamed to D.eval() and the content is the
same.

I've been hit by the wmode issue with IFrames, when tested an
application on Linux which floats a PDF over my Flex.
The main reason that it work in Firefox on Linux was that
there wasn't any support at the Firefox end, so there was no point
in adding the feature... but it looks like Firefox contributors
have finished the work needed in the last couple of weeks!:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137189
So hopefully we'll be seeing from platform floating IFrame
support.
There was also a pretty hardcore hack someone noticed Google
were using which lets you float HTML content over Flash even on
Linux, did you ever come across that? If not and you can't find it,
I'll try and dig out a link.
Floating IFrames floats my boat, provided it can produce
consistant results across all platforms.
There is an issue with dot pitch on windows though... try
changing the DPI and see where the lovingly position frame ends
up!

  • [Ann] D.eval API v1.1

The D.eval API is for evaluating textual dynamic AS3 code
within Flex or Flash programs. It brings eval() capability to AS3
programming. And it is freeware now with v1.1.
The D.eval API supports a powerful embedded language with
    these features:
    (a) Supports all the AS3 expressions and statements,
including E4X. ('switch' support is new in v1.1)
    (b) Can define user function in the dynamic code (new in
    v1.1)
    (c) Can interact with the calling host environment.
The library has been tested with Flex 3 and Flash CS3 (new in
v1.1). As usual, it comes with complete documentation and rich
examples. The examples can be viewed online, where Flex libraries
are linked in as RSLs to reduce their sizes (dramatically).
Another change between v1.1 and v1.0 is the package name: it
    is now "r1.deval".
Why is it called D.eval? Because the whole API contains just
one class, "r1.deval.D", of which the most important method is the
static one, eval(). So you would use D.eval() or one of its
    variants in your code.
The D.eval API is on Flex Exchange; or just visit
    http://www.riaone.com/deval/

    First off, great work!
I was playing around with it and couldn't find a solution so
I was wondering if you could answer this. My goal is to dynamically
add sprites that the user can interact with. The problem seems to
be that I cannot define the listener functions dynamically. Any
    solution to this?

This is the error because the runtime does not find any way to call Java script that usally is called through External interface. So my guess is you are using a AIR project. U just need to download the latest swc http://code.google.com/p/facebook-actionscript-api/downloads/list for destop in your case and don't forget to but FBJSBridge.js to put in your source that will b used to help AS call Facebook API from AIR runtime
    Hope it make some sense

  • Is there any API to update locator flex field details?

    Hi All,
Is there any API to update wms locator flex field details?

    Hi,
As per Oracle we have below APIS for locator in WMS,
    - Create Locator API to create a new locator (CREATE_LOCATOR)
    - Update Locator API to update an existing locator (UPDATE_LOCATOR)
    - Locator Item Tie API to assign an item to a locator (CREATE_LOC_ITEM_TIE)
    - Delete Locator API to delete an existing locator (DELETE_LOCATOR)
The APIs are part of PL/SQL package INV_LOC_WMS_PUB. This is defined in
    $INV_TOP/patch/115/sql/INVLOCPS.pls.
You can search *"Locator Maintenance Application Program Interface"* in Metalink or MFGAPI for details.
    Hope it helps

  • YouTube API - Import filmcomments in Flex

    Hi!
I'm pretty new to Flex, and are working on a project where I have imported a YouTube video.
Now I want the comments of this movie to appear in a box to the right of this film.
Is this possible to do with the HTTPService- method?
I must add that I only have two weeks of AS-practice, and are bearly grabbing the concepts of the YouTube Data API for ActionScript 3.0
Any help in this matter would be much appriciated!
Also, any helpful code-examples will be awarded with a delicious cake :-)
    Thanks,
    Markus

However, the same video sounds just fine from within this AS3 YT wrapper implementation.

We worked with another school district that used the Teams Subscription features, but that is no longer avaiable.  Is it possible to do the same now?  We have an Adobe Pro Subscription.  Thank you for any help.  Chris

    Well, I have an update.
As of 8.45 this evening, nearly four hours after posting the above, the original purchaser of the software in question received the following email (clearly I've removed sensitive info)
"With this response, we believe your issue is resolved and have therefore closed your case xxxxxxxxxxx.  If your support case has not been completed to your satisfaction or you should you need to contact us on this issue again, please reference your case number. You can reopen your case up to 14 days after it has been closed.
    Hello xxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Adobe and we apologize for not being able to answer your request in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience in this regard.
This email is regarding your request to transfer the license for the software Adobe Design Premium CS 5.5.
Xxxxx, we have transferred the serial number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx from your Adobe account the account associated with the email address xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx as per your request hence closed this case."
...and I have checked my Adobe account and can confirm that indeed the licence has finally been transferred. :O
    The system does work ...eventually.
I clearly needed to write that shirty forum post above months ago. Adobe Support may well have actually done what they should have done months ago, but it still doesn't stop them being useless and needlessly protracting a fairly simple process and wasting both my time and the original purchasers time.
I also can't help but wonder if Tweeting the forum support page URL directly to Adobe and Adobe Support helped them extract a digit from their collective rectum, I guess we'll never know?
Adobe, sort your support out, it aint rocket surgery!

  • Why Isn't xmlindex being used in slow query on binary xml table eval?

I am running a slow simple query on Oracle database server 11.2.0.1 that is not using an xmlindex. Instead, a full table scan against the eval binary xml table occurs. Here is the query:
    select -- /*+ NO_XMLINDEX_REWRITE no_parallel(eval)*/
          defid from eval,
          XMLTable(XMLNAMESPACES(DEFAULT 'http://www.cigna.com/acme/domains/eval/2010/03',
          'http://www.cigna.com/acme/domains/derived/fact/2010/03' AS "ns7"),
'$doc/eval/derivedFacts/ns7:derivedFact' passing eval.object_value as "doc" columns defid varchar2(100) path 'ns7:defId'
           ) eval_xml
where eval_xml.defid in ('59543','55208'); The predicate is not selective at all - the returned row count is the same as the table row count (325,550 xml documents in the eval table). When different values are used bringing the row count down to ~ 33%, the xmlindex still isn't used - as would be expected in a purely relational nonXML environment.
My question is why would'nt the xmlindex be used in a fast full scan manner versus a full table scan traversing the xml in each eval table document record?
Would a FFS hint be applicable to an xmlindex domain-type index?
    Here is the xmlindex definition:
CREATE INDEX "EVAL_XMLINDEX_IX" ON "EVAL" (OBJECT_VALUE)

create index eval_catt_2ndary_ix on eval_idx_tab_I (eval_catt);The xmlindex is getting picked up but a couple of problesm:
    1. In the developemnt environment, no xml source records for defid '52657' or '52599' are being displayed - just an empty output set occurs; in spite of these values being present and stored in the source xml.
This really has me stumped, as can query the eval table to see the actual xml defid vaues '52657' and '52599' exist. Something appears off with the query - which didn't return records even before the corrresponding xml index was created.
    2. The query still performs slowly, in spite of using the xmlindex. The execution plan shows a full table scan of eval occurring whether or not a HASH JOIN or MERGE JOIN (gets used in place of the HASH JOIN when the NO_USE_HASH(eval) int is used.
    3. Single column 2ndary indexes created respectively for eval_catt and defid are not used in the execution plan - which may be expected upon further consideration.
In the process of running stats at this moment, to see if performance improves....
At this point, really after why item '1.' is occurring?

  • Why Doesn't XMLIndex Create and Populate Upon Scale-Up For Eval Table?

Presently working with Oracle release 11.2.0.1 using xmltype securefile binary xml tables.
In a quandry here and hoping not to have to open an Oracle SR...
Able to create a working xmlindex against an 'Acme Eval' table in our development environment against an Acme eval table (estimate ~ 5GB) containing 325,550 rows. Creation takes about 10 mins. No partitioning is being used.
When trying the exact same xmlindex creation against our, much more powerful, pvs platform environment contaning 13,985,124 rows; the xmlindex object shows up as existing in the data dictionary, but the session never stops running after at least 24 hrs of runtime.
    The pvs hardware environment uses: (1.) 24 processor, (2.) Solaris-64 OS, (3.) 128GB memory.
Two 1 hr AWR reports for the pvs environment shows a huge amount of logical read/writes. The foreground wait event; 'db file sequential read' dominates the DBTime @ 92%. There is about 4.6 GB physical reads/3.5GB physical writes - not too large relatively speaking. The I/O subsystem is having no problem handling the throughput. The top, by far,Time Model Statistics is the 'sql excute elapsed time' @ 99%. User I/O is the main foreground wait class @92%. These values are similar for both of the AWR report - except one report show the 'CREATE XMLINDEX...' statement as being the top sql. The other report shows ' INSERT INTO CROUTREACH.EVAL_IDX_TAB_I... ' As the top sql.
Been several days since this post. Hoping someone might be able to provide some insight or share their experiences on xmlindexes scaling up to millions of records in the 5 - 10 gb xmltype table range...
    Regards,
    Rick Blanchard
The frustration here is; there is no obvious database configuration, physical cpu, memory, or I/O issue - other than the logical gets centered around the db file sequential read' wait event.
Can't do much as far as adjusting the create index statement and underlying attendent Oracle xml operations - the main frustration factor here...
The xmlindex is still undergoing record insertions.
Additionally, in the pvs environment; no dml is allowed on the xmlindex and the select statement that works fine using the xmlindex via the optimizer in the development environment doesnt pick up the xmlindex in the pvs environment - as would be expected if the xmlindex wasn't completely populated.
Appears the xmlindex record population is stalled...
    In the pvs environment, when performing the dml 'alter index croutreach.eval_xmlindex_ix noparallel';
get this error - typical when an xmlindex is being populated with records:
    ALTER INDEX croutreach.eval_xmlindex_ix NOPARALLEL
    Error report:

  • API for updating pay_people_groups table..

    Hi,
Is there any API for updating pay_people_groups table. I know we can do it using hr_assignment_api.update_emp_asg_criteria but this API updates the assignement with the new pay_group_id. I want to know is there is any API which can only update the pay_people_groups and not the assignment.
    Regards,
    Shabana.

    Hi,
Technically you want update values for people group. If you remember At the time of definition of people group you created value set and attached people group flex field.
People group are created on the basis of combination of segments. So you have to update only values not people group.
I doubt oracle provides API to update key flex field.
You may get API to update values try out that option.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks to the help of several Adobe members I was able to successfully import a styled (.css) Flex 3 project into Flash Builder 4 and have it retain its aesthetic and functional attributes. I wanted to take a moment and share what I found with everyone, in case you may find yourself confronted with the same issues.
1.First, to bring in my Flex 3 project to Flash Builder 4 I needed to add a single line in my .css file:
    @namespace "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo";
    2. Next I had to add an Additional Compiler Argument. (Properties > Flex Compiler > Additional compiler arguments):
    -theme=${flexlib}/themes/Halo/halo.swc
Basically there were a number of aesthetic breaks due to FB 4 (and newer SDKs) using the Spark component set. To ensure you Flex 3 application looks the same with the .css style, you'll need to specify that the application uses the Halo theme as the foundation.
I'm including a photo showing several aesthetic issues I had under Flash Builder 4 and the newer SDKs prior to this solution.
All of these have been fixed. Thanks again to all those at Adobe for the great support.

    Glenn,
There is always the lure to immediately embrace the newest
technologies. I'd been considerably eager to see what Flash Builder
had to offer and it does, indeed, provide a broader landscape of
possibilities. After everything has been said and done I believe the
Flash Builder team should consider a Migration Assistant to help
transition Flex 3 projects to the Flash Builder 4 code architecture.
Upon importing a Flex 3 project the user could be asked if they would
like to formally convert the entire codebase into a native FB 4
project. It would then go through the document, possibly stopping
occasionally asking for approval to do something, and update all
relevant code so it becomes a true FB4 app. There could also be a list
provided after this conversion that specifically outlines all changes
    made.
I've been working in Flex for a number of months now. Prior to this I
was using the Flash IDE. Upon exploring Flex, the advantages were
clear and substantial. Flex is absolutely outstanding for both
designers and developers in my opinion. The issue, however, is that
Flex users should be, above all, anxious to migrate to Flash Builder
4, not worried. If a Flex 3 developer has finished a huge project
(like you and I apparently) in Flex 3 we shouldn't have to go through
all of our code trying to figure out what needs to be changed. There
should be something that helps developers do that automatically.
Technology is relentlessly changing. Monthly, weekly, daily even.
That's great but for something like Flex, new versions shouldn't have
developers searching everywhere trying to find patchwork solutions.
The folks over at the Flash Builder 4 team have been great assisting
both myself and the multitude of other users with their issues, so I'm
pretty confident things will unfold well.

  • Display Service Pack and OS Name/Version in Flex Label

    Hi,
I want to show my current system Operating system name (XP Pro, Vista,  Linux..etc) along with the Service Pack level of my system on which my  application is running.
I am able to show uo OS name  "Windows XP" using "Capabalities.os" in Flex4.0. but not "Professional"  or "Pro" exactly. But I could not find an API for showing up the service  pack level.
I have to display the content in a label. I  tried with Capabilities.cpuArchitecture and System.vmversion, but it  shows up some other system data.
I want to show up Service pack version.
It will be good if I do not have to use any external API for that, if flex itself can provide any such API for that.
    Please help.!!
    Thanks,
    Nitika

    Hello,
The "SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java (TM) EE 5 Edition" is a preview version of the next major release of SAP NetWeaver. Being so, it is neither a major version release, nor a service pack of a product.
Information about the upcoming Java EE 5 product, supported for production use, can be found <a href="http://www.sap.com/company/press/press.epx?pressid=6705">here</a>.

  • Flex component kit

    Hi,
First off, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post
    this question.
I've been using flash to create components for flex but I
come across a problem. It works perfectly if you create a movie
clip, and use the make flex component command, however, If I want
to write the class myself and link it to the movie clip, i get
nothing on the stage from flex. I see all my traces and also see
the code hints for all of my public methods, etc, but nothing
appears on the stage at all.
    Any idea what is wrong?
    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. Here is a simple sample that is not
    working:
    package{
    import mx.flash.UIMovieClip;
    public class Circle extends UIMovieClip{
    public function Circle(){
    trace('circle');
I have a circle shaped MC on the stage and I used the make
flex comp. command on it and it has the following properties:
    Class:Circle
    Base class: flash.display.MovieClip
I bring it into flex, its finding it ok and even tracing from
the constructor method, but I see no circle on the stage.
    Thanks for any further help.

  • Embedd SWF into Flex

    Hi,
I am trying to load a coolaris Gallery into a Flex Application (it's a SWF).
Now I have to fit its dimensions into my container.
My first approach was to simply set the SWFLoaders dimensions, but that only scales the content (it is being zoomed)
I want that the spaces are getting smaller and the appereance is not zoomed (is kept), like its done if you embedd it into html.
The properties maintainAspectRation or scaleContent did not work either how expected.
    Any idea for that ?
Second Question is how could I make the fullscreen modus work from the embeded swf ?
When I now enter Full-screen Modus, my main application is going top full screen and not the embedded swf.
    Idea ?
    Cheers
    Marc

I would not expect that to work.  The Flash 8 app would set the API level
for the flex 4 SWF and flex 4 needs Flash 10.
