Annotator creating lots of files in /tmp
We have a bunch of .tiff files that are being annotated when IFS starts up. We have 2 problems.
1. A bunch of files get created in /tmp called fccache*. TMP is 600 MB and it fills up. Any way to redirect these files to a different file system.
2. We get this exception (this is IFS 9.0.3.2)

The fact that the Annotator software creates these temp files and does not clean them up is bug number 2378406 which has been fixed for database release 10i.
You may be able to work with Oracle support to request a patch.

It seems that error is caused because OSB is unable to create temporary jar file in /tmp/alsbTempJars. I looked for path and actually directory alsbTempJars is not present on disk. I had already created that directory in the past so I can't figure why it has been deleted.
Also I saw some out of disk space error in logs although I checked that it is at least 1Gb free at OSB mount point.
We've realized of this problem when checking logs after we got an error working with OSB web console.
To solve this error I had to create alsbTempJars directory and restart the node. Then error stopped and processing continued normaly. I think node activity was interrupted during error as I only see stack traces in log file.
OSB runs in a Linux machine with user Oracle that is also owner of alsbTempJars directory.
Hope someone could help us with this.

Daniel.In case /tmp directory is automatically deleted, is it possible to configure a custom directory for alsbTempJars dir in OSB to assure it is never deleted?Add the -Djava.io.tmpdir=newTempDir parameter in the JAVA_PROPERTIES section of the setDomainEnv.sh script. This new location should be outside of the /tmp dir to avoid being cleared by any process.
I think best soultion would be to have alsbTempJars automatically created whenever /tmp is purged.Doing it on the fly may not be possible however you may anytime raise an enhancement request with support and if prod dev approves it, you may get a fix.

Firefox and Thunderbird creates CGLog files in /tmp on my Mac. It contains a lot of info related to keyboard and mouse (keys, scrolls, clicks!) I am concerned!

PCP in RAC environment is providing lots of ORA-20100: File o0000071.tmp

appl2 --all services including concurrent with PCP and Hardware loadbalancing
db1 and db2 are two rac nodes. running only db and listener.

The issue is both the db nodes are not creating the *.tmp files in sequence they are

If a node 2 is generating the tmp file *309*.tmp which might already created by the other node then the above error is coming to us,
If you shutdown any one node and cleared all the *tmp files from the /nfs_concurrent/tmp then we will not get the error.
In our issue it couldhave been overwrite the earlier file but the issue is we are not having boththe database user ID is defferent, We are in the process of changing the same but we wanted to change our setup, it should create the new no which was not generated by the other node.
Pl help us in achivingthe same..

Last time I updated pages I lost features I liked and was unable to open some pages files. Now I see the features I liked are back but I have a lot more files to worry about. Will I be able to open files created in 5.2 if I upgrade to 5.5.3?
Within reason, Pages v5.2 documents are forwards compatible with Pages v5.5.3. Apple introduced the single file format document as a default with Pages v5.5.3 which is not backwards compatible with Pages v5 on Mavericks.
However, they also provided a File > Advanced > Change File Type > {Single File, Package} menu that allows you to change the current Pages v5.5.3 document into the backwards compatible Package type document. You would follow this transformation with a File > Save operation to complete it. -

We have created a custom package where in we are trying to call the standard API's of Oracle projects i.e PA_PROJECT_PUB.When we are trying to call these APIs we are facing the below issue.
We have tried testing in two instances ,Initially it worked in both instances.
Using the same API's multiple times we tested the same data set in these instances.
For the first few runs it works fine.But when we go on using the same API's again and again for our testing we face now and then the below issue.

Hi all, i'm new to Mac book & Xcode. I'm learning and facing problems while creating a new file for Xcode. Before i upgrade the software, i have no issue to create simple steps in apps. After upgrade Xcode to 4.6 version, i'm facing lot's of issue eg.
1) "the identity "iphone developer" doesn't match any valid certificate/ private key pair",
2) can't select the box "with XIB for user interface" if the subclass is "UIViewController"..

Unable to create temporary backing file
My program is throwing out the error:
temporary open: /var/tmp/BDB20825: Too many open files
unable to create temporary backing file
This happens after my program has been running for about 4 hours. The program appears to run out of file descriptors. The listing of /proc/<PID>/fd shows hundreds of lines naming the same file (/var/tmp/BDB20825), like this:

That file does not exist. I suspect that someone is deleting but failing to close the file. A few open file descriptors with this deleted file occur slowly in the early hours, but not at a fast enough rate to bring the program down when it does. It looks like there is a sudden flood at the end.
The program repeats this error slowly, and is stuck inside the db code. Here is the gdb backtrace I am seeing every time I interrupt:

At this time, the program is trying to extract fields out of an XmlDocument that is the result of a query. The program uses a pre-calculated XmlQueryExpression to extract a specific field. This may not be the best way to extract a field from a document, given the apparent overhead of needing a temporary file!
My program queries two database files (OD.dbxml and FD.dbxml.new), and uses the information to add records to the second file. The databases are rather big:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.3 (Tikanga) 32 bit.
Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16, C++ interface.
Disk space should not be an issue:

I ran this program about a year ago and did not see this issue. I have made a few changes and linked to the newer version of the XML database since then. Any help is appreciated.I have more information about this problem.
If I "disable" the routine __os_zerofill() in os_fzero.c, by having it always return (0), I no longer get an exception and my application appears to run smoothly. However, I have not determined what in this routine leads to the exception. And, I have no idea what the short and long term consequences of "disabling" this routine will be....

Creating an xml file from a playlist - message for iTunes staff
When I created an xml file from a playlist I noticed that in the xml file the track name was merged with the artist name in this manner "I want you - Bob Dylan".
That was hardly a problem as I could easily correct this in the FileMaker Pro environment.
But subsequently I found out, that within iTunes the track name was similarly changed to the same format. Apparently this happened when iTunes created the xml file and inadvertently also changed the track name within iTunes.
It can easily be corrected by entering File/Info, but I had over 10.000 songs in that list and it will take a lot of time. I have to do this, as I created earlier for each song a file path in FileMaker Pro, which are unrecognizable now.
Could you please correct the xml file creating procedure?I must confess that I can't reproduce this result myself anymore.
I created the xml file in iTunes via File/Library/Export Playlist/xml structure (I translate the Dutch terms loosely) and subsequently I imported the xml file into a Filemaker Pro via File/Import/xml.
The xsl style sheet looks ok.
It looks like a freak of nature.
Still I have the evidence in my iTunes playlist, where I have another 9000 clicks to go to repair the damage.
Let's forget about it, until it happens again.

How do I create a .llb file that holds all the subVIs used in a VI?

I wish to create a .llb file that holds all the subVIs(~200) used in my main VI.
When I open my main VI, and look into the 'show VI hierarchy' I see a lot of subVIs, so to copy all these subVIs into the library file is going to be really time consuming. I am hoping there is an option in Labview by which I could automatically put all these subVIs into one library file?

Creating new flat file using TextEdit w/specified name and path
Hi all,
I am working on an Applescript to create a blank new plain text file (in /tmp with a unique filename derived from today's date and time) and am missing something 'cause I keep getting an error message.
Here's the code:

I understand that the properties listed in the make command should be a record, and that the individual properties comprising the record should each be text.
What am I missing here? Something obvious I suspect.

EdYou're trying to use Unix-style paths for a Cocoa app, and that won't work.
You need to use Mac-style paths, that is, colon-delimited, not unix-style (slash-delimited) paths.

A slightly better solution is to use the path to command rather than a hard-coded path. path to temporary items will give you the path to the current OS temporary file directory, which is more reliable than hard-coded strings, especially since non-English versions of the OS mght not use the same path names.
