Another aborted Action Script

I'm making a slideshow about 18 images in all 9 thumbnails and 9 full size images. The problem I keep running into is the "a script in this movie is causing flash player 9 to run slowly" error. The Flash is set to player 9 and action script 2.0. I have followed the uninstall reinstall tips in other threads and even tried it on another machines, ultimately coming up with the same results. I have read that there could possibly be too much script on the single frame so that said here is the script that is all on that first and only frame.
this.createEmptyMovieClip("container",1);
var imagesNumber:Number = 9;
for (i=1; i<=imagenumber; i++) {
container.attachMovie ("Cakethumb0"+i, "Cakethumb0"+i+"_mc",i);
Cakethumb_mc = container ["Cakethumb0"+i+"_mc"];
Cakethumb_mc._x =(i-1) *Cakethumb_mc._width;
Cakethumb_mc._y = (Stage.height-Cakethumb_mc.height)/2
Cakethumb_mc.largerImage = i;
Cakethumb_mc.onRelease = function() {
_root.attachMovie ("Cakeimage0"+this.largerImage,"large_mc",2);
large_mc._x = (Stage.width - large_mc._width)/2;
large_mc._y = (Stage.height - large_mc. _height)/2;
large_mc.onRelease = function() {
this.removeMovieClip();
container.onEnterFrame = function () {
this._x += Math.cos((-root._xmouse/Stage.width)*Math.PI)*15;
if (this._x>0) {
this._x = 0;
if (-this._x>(this._width-Stage.width)) {
this._x = -(this._width-Stage.width);
I appreciate any help you guys can send my way.

Is the following a coding error where you declare a variable but misspell it when it gets put to use, or is the variable used somewhere else?
var imagesNumber:Number = 9;
for (i=1; i<=imagenumber; i++) {

  • Centered placing of a mc onto another via action script

    Hello,
    i have problems to place a mc object (any rectangle) centered
    onto another mc object (any rectangle) via as-code. Via the polar()
    method it is possible to translate points with a certain distance
    and angle. I tried with that method to place the first rectangle
    centered onto the second rectangle. It works fine for an angle of 0
    degrees for the second rectangle. But if you change the angle of
    the second rectangle the determination is no more correct.
    Can someone someone help me?
    You just have to create 2 rectangles as movieclips in a flash
    document and name them as "draggedObject" and "dropObjects". Then
    attach the following as-code and try out:
    draggedObject.x = dropObjects.x; // draggedObject is the red
    rectangle, dropObjects the blue rectangle
    draggedObject.y = dropObjects.y;
    var angle1 = dropObjects.rotation;
    angle1 = 2 * Math.PI * (angle1 / 360);// angle to Bogenmass
    draggedObject.rotation = dropObjects.rotation;
    var newPoint = Point.polar(dropObjects.width/2 -
    draggedObject.width/2, angle1);
    draggedObject.x = draggedObject.x + newPoint.x;
    draggedObject.y = draggedObject.y + newPoint.y;

    well, there are several ways to align objects on the stage.
    1) construct the objects so that thier registration points
    are in the center of the object, then either can be aligned to the
    center 0,0 of the other, and rotated about that point.
    2) if the objects registration point is in the upper left
    corner, use the Stage's width and height properties to align the
    obects to the center, by setting the _x position of the object by
    subtracting the width of the object from the width of the Stage and
    dividing the result by two. do this again each time you rotate an
    object, as the bounding box is changed to accomidate the entire
    bounds of the shape, after rotation occurs.
    AS2: draggedObject._x += (Stage.width - draggedObject._width)
    / 2;
    AS3: draggedObject.x += (stageWidth - draggedObject.width) /
    2;
    (I am uncertain if this is the correct method of calling of
    the AS3 'stageWidth' property here, as I'm new to AS3)
    3) there are more ways to accomplish this, but this should be
    enough for now.

  • How do I use the button states in an action script?

    In my Captivate 8 project I use smart shape as buttons. The buttons have different images presented dependent on the state of the button. I have also created a simple action script that shows what happens when the button is pressed. When the button has been pressed the normal state of the button appear. I, however, want the down state of the button to remain visible util the user presses another button. How do I accomplish this? Is there variables for the buttons different state or how can I create that?
    BR,
    Madeleine

    When you talk about 'actionscript' do you mean advanced or shared actions? You cannot write actionscript within Captivate, only Javascript. If you use advanced/shared actions they'll be converted on runtime to either Actionscript (for SWF output) or Javascript (for HTML5 output).
    The states in shape buttons are the normal way buttons behave (not only in Flash). If you are indeed using shared/advanced actions, and you want the down state to remain until the next shape button is clicked, you'll have to go the way described by iFlashAppsToo. Create shapes that have the look of the down state, make them initially invisible and group all those shapes on one slide. Add two statements to the shared/advanced action (please do use shared actions, you'll save time):
    Hide Group   so that eventual down mimicked states on previously clicked buttons disappear
    Show Im_Downx    to show the down image for that button

  • A way to move layers from one file to another in actions?

    Ok, question for the gurus out there - rather than try to explain, I'll give you an example: Lets say I have a series of adjustment layers that I want to apply to a sequence of 40 images. The adjustments are in a layer group, and are saved as a separate file.
    I DON'T want to drag and drop them, I want to run an action that will copy the adjustments to each image- now I know I can save down each adjustment as a separate file, lets a curve (acv) a selective color (ahu) file and load THAT in as part of my action. But I don't want to do that either, because these adjustments will change and I want to easily re-render my changes on all 40 images in one step.
    I also don't want to use After Effects to do it, because my client doesn't own it. There used to be
    a way to move layers from one file to another in actions because I seem to remember doing it. The answer is not Duplicate Group either because that needs you to specify a destination file name.
    Is it possible to do this without scripting? I'm pretty sure it used to be because I seem to remember doing it, just cant remember HOW I did. Maybe I'm wrong about this though.
    Thanks and sorry for the long post, this has been baffling me for weeks.

    Thanks Ed, but as I explained above
    "I know I can save down each adjustment as a separate file, lets a curve (acv) a selective color (ahu) file and load THAT in as part of my action. But I don't want to do that either"
    What I want to know is is there a way to move adjustment layers from one file to another in an action. I know also that you can use the clipboard to move pixel layers, but I've yet to find a way to move adjustments.

  • DRM Import, Action Script

    Hi All,
    I am new to Hyperion DRM 11.1.2, I am confused about concepts such as metadata and data still not able to understand difference between them. What I understand is all Versions hold is set of independent hierarchies which have nodes and their property values, which is nothing but metadata.
    Please help me understand difference between data and metadata?
    There are different task groups like Import, Action script and Migration Utility all the these are essentially used for importing metadata and data in the DRM Application.
    Migration Utility - Provides the ability to bulk load metadata and security objects in DRM applications. Other operations which can be performed in migration utility are extract and difference.
    Import- It provides a way to import data in DRM Applications, but it creates new version after import
    Action Script - Used to process a bulk set of changes in an automated fashion.
    Can anyone help me understand best case scenario for when to use which utility to import metadata and data?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Aniket

    Migration Utility: When you are trying to Export/Import Properties, Validations, Export Definitions, Import Definitions etc to an XML or from another server.
    Import: This function Imports a whole new Version once you have the load file in a specific Import format that you define.
    Blendor: The Version you imported Can be blended with the Actual current existing version
    Action Script: This is used when updating the current Hierarchies. Like Adding nodes, updating Properties etc.

  • Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

    Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

    code on the last frame of your movieclip instance:
    _root.gotoAndStop('whatever_frame');  // will work unless this swf is loaded into another swf.  in that situation, you should use a relative path to the main timeline (eg,  _parent or _parent._parent etc).

  • Is Action Script for netStreaming and FLVPlayback component radically different, not interchangeabl?

    Hi.
    I am using NetConnection and NetStream to play back flv in Flash Pro CS5.5, and trying to add cue point to trigger events using Action Script, and to automatically rewind to the start at the end. There is no problem to trigger events via AS when the cue points are embedded, but i am unable to add cue points using AS.
    When i use an FLVPlayback component, there is no problem to add cue points (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ActionScript/3.0_UsingComponentsAS3/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d1 18a9c65586-7feb.html) and to loop the playback using autoRewind (and fl.video.VideoEvent.AUTO_REWOUND which i got from Nafem at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/857036).
    However, i am failing to use this same code w/a netConnection and netStream, and would appreciate any help.
    thanks.

    Hello,
    Well, I've got some help from another helpful fellow at macscripter.net and I have a working script - albeit a bit more specific (ie, hardcoded extensions to look for) and a different approach.
    Here's the script:
    on adding folder items to thisFolder after receiving addedItems
    repeat with movieFile in addedItems
    set {Nm, Ex} to getName_andExtension(movieFile)
    set movieFilePath to (thisFolder as text) & Nm & ".avi"
    set subtitleFile to (thisFolder as text) & Nm & ".srt"
    if Ex is ".srt" then
    try
    tell application "iFlicks"
    import (movieFilePath as alias) with gui
    end tell
    end try
    else if Ex is ".avi" then
    if my FinderItemExists(subtitleFile) then
    try
    tell application "iFlicks"
    import (movieFilePath as alias) with gui
    end tell
    end try
    end if
    end if
    end repeat
    end adding folder items to
    on getName_andExtension(F)
    set F to F as Unicode text
    set {name:Nm, name extension:Ex} to info for file F without size
    if Ex is missing value then set Ex to ""
    if Ex is not "" then
    set Nm to text 1 thru ((count Nm) - (count Ex) - 1) of Nm
    set Ex to "." & Ex
    end if
    return {Nm, Ex}
    end getName_andExtension
    on FinderItemExists(thePath)
    try
    set thePath to thePath as alias
    on error
    return false
    end try

  • Action Script and button Behavior

    Imported a bmp as png, made it into a movie clip. Setup the
    AS to call for page 4. It works great. I would now like to have a
    text box come up on the rollover. I tried to nest the mc into a
    button. I can make the text box work but the script won’t
    work when I click.
    Could you refer me to a resource that would explain the
    relationship between the two. Or is there another way to do this.
    So the text box says “Click here for more Info”.
    Can’t click to execute Action Script, I think it is not
    addressable because it’s nested in the button.
    If I reverse the nesting then the text box in the over frame
    won’t execute.

    Sorry, a bit chaotic and i can't really get your arrangement.
    Please upload what you have so far, we will go from there.
    There is so many ways to achieve the same thing in flash that
    there
    is no point going into it, could turn up suggested solution
    totally
    does not suit your project. Need to see what you have so far.

  • Parent/Action Script advise, please

    Hello
    I am posting to ask for some advice. I have Flash MX 2004.
    I have a series of thumbnails (Movie Clips) which seem to be
    arranged over two layers (layers 1 and 2). Layer 1 holds each
    individual thumbnail (movie clip) in several keyframes, so that
    with Layer 1 highlighted, when I click on frame 1 I can see
    thumbnail no. 1 on the stage, when I click on frame 2 I see only
    thumbnail 2 on the stage, when I click on frame 3 I see only
    thumbnail 3 on the stage, etc.
    I see no Action Script when I click through the frames:
    Layer 2, however, does appear to hold Action Script. Please
    see here:
    http://www11.brinkster.com/stevehigham/parent.html
    When I click on Layer 2 frame 1 I can see Action Script for
    the first thumnail:
    gotoAndStop(_parent._name);
    When I click on frame 2 I can see my second thumbnail, but
    the same script:
    gotoAndStop(_parent._name);
    When I click on frame 3 I can see my third thumbnail, but
    again the same script:
    gotoAndStop(_parent._name);
    I am trying to get my limited cognitive ability to grasp how
    the file works (I bought it as a template) so that I can change it.
    I wish to ask two questions. Does the gotoAndStop(_parent._name);
    mean that every time I click on thumbnail 1 I go to this file:
    --> _parent._name?
    And does it mean that every time I click on thumbnail 2 I
    also go to this file: --> _parent._name? Does it also mean that
    every time I click on thumbnail 3 I go to the same file: -->
    _parent._name?
    When I go to Ctrl + Enter and click on the thumnails
    (regardless of which one it is), I am always taken to the same
    place. Is it this script, the _parent._name that takes me there? If
    so, my second question concerns how can I change it - what is it in
    the script that I need to change - so that each thumbnail takes me
    to a different place?
    Many thanks for reading such a long message!
    Steve

    Hello kglad
    Thank you for your message.
    In relation to your comment:
    'you need to label your frame and you probably are supposed
    to load that swf into another swf'.
    How do I do that? If I create something new on my stage in a
    new layer in the first frame how to I change the Action Script so
    that when the thumbnail is clicked, I go to that particular frame
    in that particular layer?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Where do I find anm experienced Action Scripted fast?

    Hi,
    I have a Flash presentation which needs completed. Basically,
    all of the buttons need programmed and as a newbie who is running
    out of time to learn, I need some help.
    First, I'd like to know where you find people who can do this
    (here?)
    Secondly, how long it would take to programme approx 875
    buttons (many of which are repetitions (e.g home button, help
    button, exit button appearing on every screen). There are
    approximately 109 screens which need to be linked.
    Thirdly, what would be a realistic price to expect to pay for
    someone to do this? It is a non-profitmaking project for a
    voluntary organisation.
    Thanks

    nicknamesaretaken,
    > I think I see what the problem is, but still struggling
    to
    > get it to work.
    Okay.
    > I now have:
    >
    > stop(); {
    > on (release)
    > this.gotoAndPlay("CS1"); // this is the correct code.
    > }
    Okay, the on() event handler may not belong here. The on()
    and
    onClipEvent() functions are an older (Flash 5 era) way to
    handle events in
    ActionScript. They're still available in Flash 8, and they
    work just fine,
    even in AS2, but these are applied *directly to* the object
    in question; as
    in, you click your button to select it, then type into the
    Actions panel
    while the button is selected. In such a case, no instance
    name is needed
    for the button (or whatever object). The above code would
    have to be
    attached to each button -- which really gets old with a large
    number of
    buttons -- and the stop(); action would have ben appear
    inside the on()
    function.
    Your earlier approach -- where you referenced the button's
    instance name
    and assign a function to the Button.onRelease event -- is the
    recommended
    best practice, and has been available since Flash MX (aka
    Flash 6). There's
    nothing about your earlier code that shouldn't have worked --
    it's just you
    *might* have been experiencing the Scenes-related bug I
    mentioned.
    I would change your previous code as follows:
    // in a frame script ...
    stop();
    skipintro_btn.onRelease = function() {
    this._parent.gotoAndStop("frame label here");
    That stops the timeline in which this ActionScript appears.
    Then it
    assigns a function literal to the Button.onRelease event of
    the button
    symbol whose instance name is skipintro_btn (if that object
    is actually a
    movie clip, then it assigns a function literal to the
    MovieClip.onRelease
    event of that instance -- funtionally the same thing). Then
    it refers to
    the parent of this object, which is the timeline in which the
    object
    appears, and tells that timeline to gotoAndStop() at the
    named frame label
    you provide -- even if that frame label is in another scene.
    Make sense?
    > Are there any good Action Script books you could
    > recommend?
    There are quite a few good ones on the market lately, but
    the last I can
    think of that I enjoyed -- from a general programming
    standpoint -- is
    Object-Oriented ActionScript For Flash 8 (Friends of ED), by
    Peter Elst and
    Todd Yard.
    > I'm also a bit worried about bug comment. Does it mean
    > that I will have difficulty playing this project in
    Flash Player
    > 9 as it's not written in Action Script 3.0?
    You shouldn't have any problems. As long as you use the
    frame labels
    approach and avoid Scene names, Flash Player 9 will run it
    the same as older
    Players. Flash Player 9 is the first to feature *two* virtual
    machines for
    ActionScript. One is the overhauled AS3-lovin' machine; the
    other maintains
    backward compatability for AS1 and AS2.
    > If so, that's a big problem isn't it as people will need
    to
    > download older versions of Flash Player to view it - or
    > I'll need to include older version on the disc.
    Right, but you don't have to worry about that. :) The Scenes
    issue is
    an old one, and it is a big problem, but at least the
    workaround is easy
    (frame labels).

  • Action Script Help (Flash 8 ONLY)

    My department currently has a host of training videos we use
    for online courses. Of course, these are all being delivered as
    FLVs. Through the Developer's communities, I found a script that
    allowed me to add a caption file to the video (XML).
    Now I'd like to take it to another level. I'd like to be able
    to have my one SWF player play a series of FLVs AND include the
    caption file. I began to look at using an Array, but have not been
    successful in making it work. I'm not too sure, but I think the way
    I coded it started to affect the video - started getting "stuck" at
    times. Another attempt caused the caption file from the previous to
    be seen in the current video.
    I have attached my script and would appreciate any
    assistance.
    Finally, I need to stick to a Flash 8 and Action Script 2.0
    solution. I realize that Flash 9 and Action Script 3.0 would be
    helpful, but our district PCs are all imaged with a Flash 8 player.
    Sorry.
    Thank you for your help.
    Frank Erazo ([email protected])

    Whatever approach you take will depend heavily on the document(s) you have for the bible element of the design.  You somehow need to be able to seek within it and determine where matched elements can be found and how to extract the information you intend to present.
    I don't think your issue currently lies with how to do this in Flash as much as first coming up with a gameplan that identifies the players and how you can interact with and within them.

  • Receive Action Script Error #2130

    My system is running Windows 8 and IE10. I have continuing problems installing and using Flash Player. I have read and reread the online procedures, checks, and solutions without much luck. Most recently after several failed attempts I was able to download the latest version of Flash Player for Windows 8 with Internet Explorer. My email account is with Outlook, which defaults to MSN.com when I sign out. When the MSN.com homepage appears I shortly receive an error message that says there is an Action Script Error #2130 and a list of affected files, including flash. I am unable to perform any other functions while this message is displayed. The message block gives me two options: Dismiss or Continue. The error message clears when I click either option, and the MSN.com homepage seems to operate normally. However, there are other issues with MSN.com which I have addressed to their support. Basically, if I click on a news headline in order to read the full article, the screen that appears is mis-formatted and unreadable. Ihave a screen capture of the error message noted above. I have tried the solutions suggested in Adobe Support, but they did not resolve the underlying issues. Please help, /hugh
    I noticed a related RE: discussion on the side of my question. When I went there I followed staff instructions to another person with similar problems. When I checked my installed version, I saw that it was the latest version for my system, but also saw debug at the bottom of the page. I then proceeded to uninstall Flash Player as staff instructions said to do. After I received the message that uninstall was successful, I again checked my installled version. It was the same as before including that it was the debug version. I repeated this action several times with the same result. Don't understand what this new problem is or how to proceed from this point.

    Thanks Pat - Sorry if I have been terse. This is not a good time for me as my Old Man [not my Father] is in failing health and requires a lot of care. Didn't need the added burden of two known problems in my computer system which no one seems to know the answer to. At least part of the problem with my email/MSN.com went away. At present I do not get an ActionScript Error #2130 when I sign out of my Outlook email account, which defaults to MSN.com. The other problem with MSN.com is still present, but so far I have not received any support from their techies, just several boilerplate messages.
    However, you are helping with my problem with Flash Player. I discovered it when trying to find the cause for the ActionScript error. I went to Adobe Support Center and began with the several guide sheets I found there. When I did the steps to find the installed] version, which by the way are contained on several different sheets, I found the version of FP installed was not the latest version. I am aware that as I have Windows 8 and IE10 changes should come down from Microsoft, so I was surprised. I tried Update Windows but there were no updates available other than an optional update to install Bing Desktop which I have installed several times, but it remains on the list as an optional update that has not been installed. As I have thought and said many times since I upgraded to Windows 8, it should have been more thoroughly debugged before they rushed it to the retail market. But that too is not an Adobe problem.
    I tried all the procedures and checks on all of the Adobe FP guide sheets I found on their support center website several times before to my surprise when I redid the steps to find the currently installed version the lastest version of FP: FP 11.7.700.169 was shown as the installed version. This was over a week ago and after I found Guide Sheet: Adobe Flash Player Support Center/Downloads at: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html. In addition to providing a path to download the latest version of FP, it provides a list of critical updates and downloads to correct known problems in Flash Player. I downloaded every update I found that seemed to apply to my system.
    I then checked to see if the Flash Player Action Script error message was now cleared. To my dismay it was not. Ever since I have been trying to correct that problem. It was not until after I posted this question here and you started to respond and discovered that although the latest version of FP is now installed - it is the DEBUG version, which you have told me I must uninstall and then install the standard version. That is where I learned that even though I am able to download the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller and run it and get a message that the uninstall was successful, when I check using the Find Version procedure, I am told the latest version of FP is still installed and it is the DEBUG version.
    I have tried reinstalling the latest version, but this procedure does not work either. When I click to download Flash Player all I get is a blank Adobe box on the screen. It asks me to select a region. I select the US, There is a DOWNLOAD tab at the top which I also select. Then nothing happens. This tell me something is not working properly with this procedure.
    So I am stuck at a point where Adobe Find Version procedures tells me the latest DEBUG version of Flash Player for my system, FP11.7.700.169, is installed in my system and working properly,but I am told I must uninstall the DEBUG version and install the standard version of FP. However, the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller does not work on my system and the Adobe Flash Player Installer does not work on my system.
    On the other hand as far as I have been able to determine Flash player is working properly as I am able to view videos on various websites, including MSN.com. And after deleting several Flash Player files I searched and found, the FP ActionScript Error #2130 has apparently stopping showing up when I am defaulted to MSN.com when I sign out of OUTlook email. I am so confused, irritated, and frustrated. I agree someone from Adobe Support should take a look at what I am reporting and determine if I have an Adobe Flash Player problem, and if so, FIX IT!
    Thanks again for taking the lead Pat, /hugh

  • About foolish action script

    it's very simple.
    Let's see bellow:
    result_lv = new LoadVars();
    result_lv.onLoad = function (success)
         if (success)
              total_txt.text = unescape(this.result1);
         else
              total_txt.text = "ERROR";
    //here is end of Flash action script 2.0
    bellow is PHP code
    <?php
          $chan = 'title';
          $num = 80;
         echo("result1=$chan&received1=$num");
    ?>
    Can you guess what flash presented?
    $chan was printed in "total_txt"
    Can't flash bring the value of $chan in php?
    I expected "title" would be printed in "total_txt".
    but how could it be so foolish?
    flash just brings text following "=" until it meets another "&";
    I got so surprised. it can't be told communication with php.  it is just "File IO" function.
    if you know a way to communicate with php, bringing a value of peculiar variable, please let me know it.
    my email address is [email protected]
    Thank you!!

    Hi Gupta,
    There are 2 ways to debug a script.
    1.Go to Se38 ,Enter the program name "RSTXDBUG' & then press Execute.
    2.Go to se71,enter the form name .In the same page,go to Utilities -->Activate Debugger.
    In both the cases,the debugger will b activated.Then u run the print program,automatically the form will b in debugging mode.....
    Actually,while configuring,we will mention the print program & the form to a transaction,so both of them will b linked to the transaction,no need to link them explicitly again.
    Reward points if useful.....
    Pavan.

  • Action Script GetUrl

    Dear all how can I open a file on a cd rom using flash action
    script with the geturl() function without specifying the name of
    the drive?For example"E:\\Firas.ppt",I dont want to put the "E"
    letter ing my url coz the cd rom drive may be using another letter
    such as "F" and "G",Thanks for ur help

    You can assign simply as its parents folder.
    No need to mentions the drive letter in all the cases.
    Look , Consider this is your folder structure.
    MyProject/Flash/Index.swf
    MyProject/Flash/Files/(The files which in turn open by Flash)
    In this case,
    To open any files in the "Files" folder from Index.swf file,
    You can use the
    getURL("Files/YourFile.pdf");
    If you want to open any files in the "Flash" folder means,
    you can
    directly give the file name as argument for getURL.
