Another Connection Question

Is there a bug in version 9.0.4 of MapViewer where the "max_connection" attribute is ignored or that MapViewer doesn't close out temporary connections that are opened (as needed) to always stay within the "max_connections"? I notice that my development server running MapViewer has to many connections to the DB and I'm using a "max_connection" in my DataSource.

What password are we talking about? The password for the router configuration or the wireless security key?
The former you'll need to configure the router at http://192.168.1.1/
The latter you'll need to connect wireless to the router when it has WEP, WPA or WPA2 set up.
The former you'll cannot recover (as far as I know) you must do a factory reset and reconfigure the whole router (i.e. internet connection, wireless security, etc.). The default password after a factory reset is "admin". You won't be able to do a backup of the settings without the password either.
The latter you can simply check by going to the URL above, to the wireless security tab. The key is in plain text there.

Another newb question: multiple virtual servers

Hi, I have yet another ignorant question. I have several unrelated web projects that I am working on, and I would like to be able to set up a virtual server for each one for testing purposes, such as: http://project1, http://project2, http://project3. Can someone tell me if this is doable, and if there are any tutorials/resources on this for someone who has 0 experience running a web serer? Sorry for being so ignorant!

Yes, it is doable.
You can setup virtual server either by IP or by name.
If you have one IP, and want to set them up by name (ex. http://project1, http://project2, http://project3) you can do so easily with this type of configuration:

....The important part here is that
a) all virtual servers share the same HTTP listener
b) which virtual server serves the request depends on the $HOST request header send by the client. Sun Web Server does the matching for you. It will match $HOST vs. the virtual server's host attribute. Depending on which site you connect to the right virtual server will be used.
c) if the $HOST request header does not match any of the virtual servers, then the default virtual server defined in the HTTP listener will be used.
To create a virtual server, use the Admin GUI, access the configuration, and then add new virtual server. Or use the following CLI command.
wadm> create-virtual-server --config=myconfig --http-listener-name=http-listener-1 --document-root=/www/docs/myserver.com --host-pattern=myserver.com --log-file=../logs/myserver.com-error_logs myserverHost pattern will be used for matching. Some of this elements might be optional.

Using EJB from another connection pool in WLPI

Hi All,
I've deployed an entity bean (CMP) which used the connection pool other than the
one used by WLPI. When I execute the business operation I've defined for this
bean, the following exception is encountered:
"Couldn't get connection: java.sql.SQLException: Connection has already been created
in this tx context for pool named wlpiPool. Illegal attempt to create connection
from another pool: oraclePool"
Is there any other alternative for me to use the entity bean in WLPI?

Instead of using mulitiple connection pool,we are using single connection pool.
Our one application, accessing remote db also, for that we are using simple jdbc
connection. No pool.
We also tried OracleXAdriver. In that case, at the time of startup we are getting
weird error.

Hi,
there were several package body and header tabs ( edit mode ).
when i deleted another connection, all of them where closed but the running debugging process is still alive.
any idea?

I used tried this. I had a couple of editors open on hr and a debug session open on hr as well. I had sys open with a couple of editors too.
Now, When i close Sys, any editors that are using the sys connection AND are not pinned, close. Nothing else closes. This is exactly how this is supposed to work.
Kevin, Tell me exactly how to reproduce your 'issue' and we'll look into it too. If it is a bug, then it will be logged.

Beginner Unity Connection question

I have a very simple beginner question I would've thought would be really easy to find the answer, but so far, I have not.
To set up a call system call handler for your basic company main number, do I need a physical phone with the number attached to a line.
I've tried it without the physical phone and can't get it to work, but with a line, no problem?

Figured it would be fairly simple, just needed to know where to start.
This might be the answer to another beginner question I have been thinking about also.
Is it common for users to call their own number when they are calling in from outside to pick up vm and then press * to access?
The Meridian system we are tossing has a common DID number, but the way our vm was setup, the number is internal. I'm not sure if calling your own number is common or if I need to make a new number, or another CTI rp sort of thing and forward to internal vm DN.

Yet another MBA connection question

I just purchased my MBA in July and it started off working beautifully. Just in the past month or so my internet connection has gotten a bit lousy. My Airport says I have a full connection to the internet yet pages either never load and sit in internet limbo forever or i get a "safari can't open the page - operation could not be completed' message pop up. I bought this computer for it's portability, but no matter how light and thin a computer is made, when it has no internet it is a useless brick. Is there anything i can do to fix this? I am a new mac user so if you can put it in english that would be great, most of this mac-ese is still a bit greek to me!

Do you have any other computers on your wireless network? Are they running ok? Do any of them run Torrent software? Or on your MBA?
Have you taken your MBA to another location with a different wireless router and tried it? was the connection ok from there?
I would try it from another location first - that will narrow down the issue instantly to either your MBA - or something with your home network.

Another TV connection question

I am turning to the intellegent community here to help me...
I am attemping to connect a mac (either a MacBook Pro or power mac G3) to a Mitsubishi WD-73831.
I am using a DVI to DVI cable
This TV has a DVI connection and through NetCommand either Digital or Analog can be specified.
When I connect the MacBook Pro gives me all the signs that the disply is working yet the display is black in Digital or Analog
Any suggestions

Within Displays preferences does the MBP indicate a second display is attached? If yes, is the TV properly identified or is there a generic descriptor like "VGA Display"? What resolutions are available as choices within Displays preferences with the TV connected? Which have you tried? Are you sure you are setting the TV to the correct input?

Another receiver connection question

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and have connected the outputs via 3 y-cables(mini to rca)as described in numerous other posts to the 6-channel DVD inputs on a Panasonic sc-HT05 receiver. The reciever is set to accept the 6 channels. My problem is when I use the THx setup channel test, I hear the "front left" command from both front speakers, the "front center" from the front center, and "rear left" from both rear speakers and none of the other speaker prompts. To restate the obvious, I'm only getting one channel feed for each output. This is confirmed using the Surround Mixer>advanced. If I pull down the levels for those particular channels , all sound is gone, but no effect if pulling the front or rear right speaker or sub. By the way, Sub is present so long as the front center level is up. All connections have been double checked and control panel is set to 5. surround. Any suggestions as to how I can achei've true 5. would be greatly appreciated.

'another bizarre wifi connectivity question

In the last week or two my 2-year-old MacBook has developed an odd and increasingly frustrating problem -- hoping someone has advice: When the laptop gets more than about 5 feet from the wifi router it's using (whether the one in my apartment, or the one at my sister's place, or the one at the coffeeshop) it loses the signal. In fact, it doesn't just lose it - once about 20 feet away, the MacBook can't even find the signal. Even sitting two feet from the router, as I type, it only registers 2 or 3 bars bars, not full strength...
I'm pretty certain it's my laptop's problem, as my buddy has no problems in our apartment with his (even older) MacBook. Ditto my sister at her place. I'm a computer moron, so I've tried the basics, to fix this (turning the connection on/off, mucking with the preferences, even deleting the 'saved' networks and re-establishing them). Nothing's helping.
I don't know that I have every bit of firmware installed that I could - for some reason the Mac sorta balks after trying to install them - but I don't know that that's the problem, at all.
Anybody got a diagnosis/prescription? I'm a freelance writer and my computer and access to the Web are my life, so I'm increasingly aggravated and worried by this. Thanks.

Truth to tell, it SEEMS that some deterioration was happening even starting a few weeks ago, but I chalked it up to moving into a new apartment. But the truly now-it-doesn't-work-at-all started about 8 days ago, out of seemingly nowhere. I didn't do anything different that I can think of, to cause this - no deletions, nothing. After the severe problem began, I did some software upgrades I'd been putting off. But that shouldn't be the issue...
All I've done to try to fix this, to date, is turn the airport on/off, turn computer and router on/off, and then yesterday I tried going into network and preferences and clearing the preferred wifi networks and then re-establishing those. Still, so far, I'm getting thrown off the 3 wifi networks I've tried after about 6 or 7 feet away from the router, while others with MacBooks have no problem. And they sometimes don't even "see" the wifi signal anymore. Crazy.
I haven't tried an ethernet connection but will do so, today, when I get back to my own apt. after holidays. That would tell me if it has anything to do with the wifi signal?
I can certainly go by an Apple store. And buy an Airport card if needed. But I don't want to drop $300 if not absolutely necessary...

Transporter - Basic installation and connection questions

We have never used or installed the Transporter before. We are currently using Tidal 5.3x and are upgrading a sandbox environment to 6.2. I have looked at all the transporter documentation I can find and am still missing some very basic questions - plus I cannot get the "help" option in transporter to work.
WHERE do you install the Transporter and why? CM Server? Master Server? Desktop? If it is on a server, then does the user that runs it need to remote the server in order to user transporter?
I have attempted to install on each of the above, but cannot establish a connection. When I click "test" I get error "Failed to Connect [Login failure with responseCode [404]]What should I be entering in each of the following Connections fields? My comments indicate what I have assumed/attempted to enter and received the error above.
Connection name - just a given name to a connection? aka TESSandboxMaster
Server Name - what server? master? Is there a specific format this needs to be in?
DSP/Plug in name - I found a dsp file on my CM Server named TES-6.0.dsp - should I put TES-6.0 here?
User - network user that is a Super user in Tidal? aka networkname\superuser?
pwd - windows pwd for that user?

1. The Transporter is installed on the Client Manager - the CM is essentially a web server to handle client requests, perform sacmd commands, and utility for transporting jobs from one environment to another. A Tidal user would have to be granted rights to Move Jobs to Production, and I believe Tidal user has to be able to sign on to the CM as well.
2. I've reviewed an older copy of the transporter user guide 6.1 provides instructions on how to complete those fields:
To create a connection: (on page 32)
In the Connection Name field, enter the name for the connection file.
In the Server Name field, enter the name of the Client Manager machine.
In the DSP/Plugin Name field, enter the master instance name.
The master instance name is the TES DSP or Plugin name. This is displayed from the Web UI in the Master Status pane.
In the Server Port field, enter the listening Web Service port used by the Tidal Web Client. The default is 8080 for non-secured connections and 8443 for secured connections.
In the User and Password fields, enter a valid Enterprise Scheduler user name and password.
Select the Secure HTTP option if you want to connect securely through the HTTPS protocol.
This option is enabled only if Transporter has been configured for secure
connections. Figure 8 is an example of Transporter not configured for secure
connections.

A1- its possible to establish a remote desktop connection even if the user and remote computer in differerent countries but NOT possible without internet coonection... as you will have to use public ip of remote computer.
A2- To redirect devices and resources

Yes you can establish remote desktop connection from android... there is an app called, Microsoft Remote desktop app, its very good , ı use it myself too...

WPS54G connection question

I never had a wireless server before so my question may not make sense, but here is what I am trying to do. My wife's computer is in another room of the house, and it is connected to the Internet through a cable modem (we use Comcast cable for internet access). The cable modem is also connected to a wireless router so that I can have internet access in another room of the house. I have a Xerox printer connected to a USB port on my computer. My wife does not have a printer, but would like to some how use my printer to print stuff from her computer. I bought the WPS54G wireless printer server brand new at a garage sale, hoping that I can connect it in such a way that my wife will be able to print wirelessly from her computer. So, since I do not have a router on my computer, and I have only a wireless (802.11) receiver, can I connect the printer to the WPS54G print server without connecting a router to it, and somehow have her computer print stuff wirelessly to my printer? If it makes any difference, her computer runs Windows XP and my computer runs Windows-7. My printer is a Xerox Phaser 1100. By the way, I tried to print a test page by pressing the reset button on the WPS54G, but it does not work. I get only a message on the printer LCD display that reads "Cancelling print job". Therefore, I am not able to confirm the IP address of the WPS54G in orderr to set up a TCP/IP port.
Okay, with all that information, please let me know if we can somehow set up the WPS54G with my printer so that my wife can print from her computer. Is it possible? If so, what must I do?

Allthough you do not have a wireless router in your room, that does not guarantee that you cannot use or get your WPS54G configured in your network.....Your wife in a different part of the same house has got a wireless printer configured....In order to configure your WPS54G initially you need to get your WPS54G connected with an ethernet cable to that wireless router and get your printer connected to WPS54G via USB....
For the initial set up please try shifting your printer and WPS54G in that part of the house where your wife's router is.....after the configuration your WPS54G will saty connected to the printer with a USB but then you can shift it in your room and it will talk to your router wirelessly....Your computer has got a wireless receiver in it so it will easily talk to your printer then along with your wife's computer....

Right now I have a blackberry with unlimited data plan as well as a dataconnect SIM that I have been using in the T400.
My question: Can I get rid of my 60$ data connect plan and use my blacberry SIM card?

Firewire Connection Question (HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!)

OK. So I am relatively new to the mac world. I have a question regarding firewire connection. So I had an imac prior to my new macbook. I wanted to transfer my stuff over through firewire but there's a problem. The screen on my Imac stopped working. It still powers up and everything, but no screen. Could someone tell me is there a way to get the hard drive of my Imac up on my macbook screen WITHOUT using the Imac screen? If no, what could/should I do? HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!

I have found this to be the solution to connecting macs via firewire... but I have yet to see my imac show up as a hard drive on the macbook pro I am trying to send large video files to.
I have plugged, unplugged and restarted everything several times. Unplugged all other devices outside of my keyboard. Even tried making the macbook pro the 'hard drive' but nothing is working. I am using a 400 to 800 firewire cable. On the macbook I have snow leopard, and the iMac has Tiger. I don't know if the OS has to be the same or not.
I am super frustrated because I don't have the $$ to run out and get another hard drive and it seems like your solution should just work.
Any ideas on how to fix??
