Another thing about the fascinate

I work for third party retailor with Verizon and several other carriers, and when I went into the corp store that is right down the road from where I live I was talked down to and my problems were kinda brushed under the carpet as if it didnt matter.  I tried to explain to the rep that I was having said issues that we have all had and was basically told to suck it up buttercup the update will be out in a few days.  This kinda irritated me because I have heard of nothing but complaints of this store so when I went there I wasnt expecting stellar service but at least a attempt to try to help me out since I had purchased my fasicnate from this store last september.  This is seriously making me consider other options in my cell service because not only did this make feel like a unimportant customer, but like I was causing a issue of inconvience to the reps there.  I understand that you dont really wanna deal with all the customers coming in to talk to you about problems with your phones, but come on I deal with similar things everyday and I try to do my best with it.  I just dont know but there needs to be a change of staff in this store in order for me to go back into it, that means I am willing to drive 30 miles to another verizon store to do anything.
Even the update hasn't fixed my issues with the phone.  It still overheats, Texts dont come through, calls dont always make it to me, Apps dont always install, and I take screenshots when I hit the power button, and this is after updating and a factory reset.  Hopefully I will be able to get some of these issues fixed because overall i like the fascinate but the issues it has makes me seriously reconsider my contract next april.

Arlynos1,
I am so sorry you had that type of experience in the store!  And you are right, every customer should leave our stores feeling they were heard, understood and valued as a Verizon Wireless customer!
I would be more than happy to assist you!  If you would like, please reply to the message I will send you with the requested information.

The system doesn’t recognize or capitalize the word (I) or the first word of every sentence. Another really annoying thing about the integrated mail on your Mac computers is the fact that the system learns the word as you type it more and more instead of highlighting it as incorrectly is this is a word that’s being misspelled. Can Apple fix this bug to make it user friendly as if you were using Office or a Word Document?

    You hit the target CT.
It’s only fair that if Apple is going to integrate Mail into Mac PCs, it would be nice if the system does it for you like Office or perhaps Outlook. I just don’t to use Outlook although I have it installed and ready to use, but instead use Mail which comes with Mac OS already.
I hope to make some sense here.

  • The very best thing about the retina display

Do you know what is the best thing about the retina display? the answer is they've solved the issue of the dead and stuck pixels thing you know how because the pixels are very very small so u can't see if it's working or not some day you will walking around holding your new ipad and you don't even know the plenty pixels that are dead and you can't notice them HAHAHA that was a good one LOVE YA APPLE.

I doubt that's the reason Apple spent the money on retina displays, but a good observation.

  • What’s the strangest thing about the Java platform?

    Hello All,
In an interview (http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Interviews/bloch_effective_08_qa.html) that I did with Joshua Bloch on java.sun.com, promoting the revised version of “Effective Java”, he discusses generics, enums, annotations, the under-use of Java libraries, the importance of minimizing the accessibility of classes and members and minimizing mutability, and other matters.
To my question: “What’s the strangest thing about the Java platform?” his answer was: “I'm going to say that the strangest thing about the Java platform is that the byte type is signed. I've never heard an explanation for this. It's quite counterintuitive and causes all sorts of errors.”

  • I'm reading way to many bad things about the new Lion... is it worth it??

I'm reading way to many bad things about the new Lion... is it worth the upgrade and hassle or will this push me back to Google for e-mail, calendars and contacts? I love my Mobile.Me... Why change whats working for an OS thats not working ?

The more you read these forums the more you'd mistakenly think that Lion is generally a problem.
For every person who comes here with a problem there's many thousands who are running Lion hassle-free, including me.
I've used MobileMe since the beginning and have happily moved to iCloud, There's a couple of things you may miss from MobileMe in the short term but those things like iWeb hosting are going away anyway in June.
I suggest you join the millions of Happy Lion Users. Just back up your data in case you absolutely need to do a clean install back to Snow Leopard.

  • Any GOOD things about the WRT300N?????

I understand that these forums are good sources of information for solving problems.  However, ALL I can find are problems with the WRT300N.
I just bought one and I plan on installing tomorrow to support a new wireless 11g printer I bought and to give me more headroom for gaming.
All the posts cite connections dropping, poor performance, and lack of range.  Is anyone "pleased" with this router???
Should I just put it back without even trying to install and get my money back????
    Thanks.

    Jag,
I've only owned the 300N for a few days, but it's been stable and an easy connection with a Windows Vista machine. I struggled with an older NetFear router with a new Vista machine and gave up after 4 days of stress and frustration and bought the 300N with the USB300 series adapter on a whim while shopping.
I've been getting 4-5 bars and according to Vista's connection information, averaging 210-250 mbps. The wireless PC is located upstairs on the second floor and the wireless router is on the first floor in my audio room. Just take note, there are not any "G" devices on the network.
I had 2 issues with the router which I will explain.
I contacted Linksys's level 1 tech support to deal with these 2 issues The security light light on the router was not lit and I asked why considering I had all security features enabled. MAC filtering, blocking SSID and encryption. The tech told me that if you use the Easy Link software the security light will not light. To activate the security light, you need to use the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor software to activate the security light. Unfortunately, Vista does not support this software, so if using Vista, according to the tech, it will never light until they have a fix, if they create one at all.
The other issue I had was not broadcasting the SSID. When I disengaged the broadcast function, I could not connect to the network. I tried various methods and I initially looked for the Wireless network monitor software, but it was/is not available with the Vista firmware. To connect to the router with the broadcast of the SSID off, she had me delete the current profile, create another manually adding the network SSID, encryption type, etc., and now I can connect to the network with not broadcasting the SSID.
Perhaps my situation is an anomaly, but I have not dropped a connection yet, speed has been 5 X my NetFear "G" connection speed and I receive 4-5 bars for signal strength. I did notice that when I changed the Network Mode to "N" band only and changed a few other settings following the manual, the signal dropped to 3 bars. I just switched back to the "Mixed" mode and default settings and the signal went back to normal.
I'm not a complete neophyte with wireless, but generally once it's secure (if there i such a thing) and connected, I never touch it again except to change the network name, router password, etc every few months. That is my experience.
    Much luck, Charles

  • Funny Thing about the Whine!

I am one of the fortunate/unfortunate people that have the whining MacBook.
Since it happens at idle maybe its Apples way of saying:
"MacBook Pro, Do More With Your Computer..... seriously"

I tried my very best to check this notebook out before paying $2,600.00
Hours later I discover the screen has "noise" and the cpu/powersupply or what ever is also making the "noise"
Called customer support and was told they're getting many complaints about the same issues as I described.

  • What other little things about the iPod I should know about?

    Just a quick question,
What are some of the features of the iPod Touch that are not 100% obvious?
    Example...
Yesterday I found out that you could pull up the music controls anywhere(even locked) by pressing the "home" button twice.
After finding the above by accident, I was thinking about if their was any other little hidden things to find.
    --Daniel L

    1. Watch quicktime supported videos (via safari) (3GP, MPEG-4 etc)
    2. Play podcasts/mp3 (via safari)
    3. When viewing photos tilt the screen and right when the screen is adjusting touch it and the photo will stay like that

  • Is there a way to change 2 really annoying things about the iTouch?

I have a 16gb Ipod Touch and was wondering if there was a way to disable these 2 really annoying features.
    1. When your listening to music and turn it sideways it goes to album view and you have to look at your ipod to go to the next song since it gets rid of the Next / pause / back buttons.(( i listen to the ipod in bed so i usually just hit next song and be done with it.
    2. The auto correct when your typing because im pretty good at typing on the itouch. Example... i type a word and the itouch suggests a word that is somewhat similar and if you dont click the x next to the suggestion it will put that word in automaticly(( if your a fast touch typer like me it puts the word in if you hit space and its REALLY annoying.
If anyone knows any ways to stop these 2 things thank you.

    1. Take a look at the [Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic|http://www.apple.com/ipod/inearheadphones>. Specifically
The control capsule located on the cable of the right earpiece includes a microphone and three buttons. With this convenient remote, you can adjust the volume, control music or video playback — including play/pause and next/previous...
    2. What I have read here is that the more you click the x to dismiss wrong autofills, the more the Touch will learn about your particular typing habits. Try touching that x more often, and see if your Touch gets trained. I am not speaking from my own experience here, as I don't type on my Touch very much yet.
    Regards.

  • App size says one thing in it's info and another thing on the sync page.

I'm trying to sync my new application to my ipod touch. on the store it says that the app is 576mb
if I go to the apps section of itunes and right click and select "Get info" it says 576.5mb
in the apps tab for the ipod touch it's size is 1.22gb
I know this is a universal app, but it shouldn't be installing the ipad assets, right? because that's the ONLY thing I can think of.
My ipod has 860mb free and it won't let me download it OR sync it to my ipod.

the app is Puzzle Quest 2, by the way.

  • Useful things about the | CLIP feature

There are other users for the "clip" feature?
The help is pretty exmplanatory, but i´m wondering if there is a "hidden" feature, or undocumented paramenter, to make more useful things
I´m thiniking if there is a way to get information FROM the "clip", i would like to send some information TO "clip", but after that, i would lke to build a batch to get information store in the "clip" and store in text files,
    variables, and so on
    ============================================================================
    C:\Windows\system32>clip /?
    CLIP
    Description:
Redirects output of command line tools to the Windows clipboard.
This text output can then be pasted into other programs.
    Parameter List:
        /?                  Displays this help message.
    Examples:
DIR | CLIP          Places a copy of the current directory
                            listing into the Windows clipboard.
CLIP < README.TXT   Places a copy of the text from readme.txt
                            on to the Windows clipboard.

There are other users for the "clip" feature?
Clip.exe is just a cmd command line interface to the clipboard for saving text from Standard Output.
If you want more command line interface to the ClipBoard see the related PSCX extensions to Powershell.
    PS C:\windows\system32> help *clipboard*
    Get-Clipboard Cmdlet Pscx Get-Clipboard...
    Out-Clipboard Cmdlet Pscx Out-Clipboard...
    Set-Clipboard Cmdlet Pscx Set-Clipboard...
    Write-Clipboard Cmdlet Pscx Write-Clipboard...
Sounds like what you really want is command line interface to clipbrd.exe (the old XP GUI tool for displaying the contents of the ClipBoard.)  The only analogy there is that it allowed us to save all the contents of the Clipboard to a .clp file for
    later reuse or inspection.

  • A small thing about the applications?

why don't apple fix so that you can shut down all application at the same time, instead of having to close each app individuall?
It would be perfect if that could be a thing to fix in a near future!

Not sure what you mean.  Very few apps run in the background.  Those that do are managed by the os.  When you hit the home button, the vast majority of apps are closed.
You do not need to do anything further.
The few apps that run in the background can be closed from the app itself.
