    Here is a recent post I assembled for a similar question:
    Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
    However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions if they are available, or find alternative software that will open, modify and save your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

    Try deleting the book from the bookshelf in your iBooks app and then re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in it. If it re-downloads in the same state then use the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that book and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
    Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

    If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
    If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
    If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
    If you have a MacBook Pro model with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saverpreference pane, set the Desktop picture, then reboot and re-enable graphics switching.
    If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
    Back up all data.
    In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
    from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists: 
    Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
    and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
    Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
    Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

  • FireFox 33 is not rendering a pdf to be printed. It worked in version 29 and on other browsers. How do you fix this?

    I have some screen shots of the "Failed" pdf file. The pdf renders and we are able to print from other browsers. I have tried resetting FireFox, tried running in safe mode. I am at my wits end. I don't see a way to attache a Word doc here.

    Hi cbwilson, window.createPopup is a proprietary method of older versions of IE. Maybe your script redefines it for Firefox, but the redefinition no longer works in Firefox 33 for some reason?
    You originally mentioned Firefox 29. Is that the last version in which this page worked, or did it just start failing in Firefox 33? This is going to sound silly, but... some older scripts may only check the first digit of the version number, so if this problem started with Firefox 30, it might be due to some code that functions differently when encountering version 3.

    10.5.8 is as far as 10.5 can go, there haven't been any "updates" for some time for 1.5.x, what you need is a paid "Upgrade", but to see what might work on your Mac...

    Ok so I wanted to buy this movie, I accidentally bought the SD and HD version. One version loaded but now the other one won't. I tried turning my phone off and restarting it, that didn't help. I put my password in and that didn't help. All it says is that it is waiting to download. Each time I go into the iTunes Store it asks for my password. It is very frustrating because I can't even delete the video from downloading. Can anyone help?

    I have reset and still get this issue, I would go and click on open new tab and then I would see the tab on the toolbar. I would go and try to open the tab by clicking on it and it would not work. How do you fix this? I know about shortcuts but its irritating and I share the computer and the shortcuts is slowing productivity. Thank you in advance.

    The mouse does not activate a tab, but a keyboard shortcut like Ctrl+2 to activate the second tab on the bar, does work?
    The Reset was a good thing to try. But some add-ons may reinstall after a Reset so those are worth reviewing again.
    Users have reported some new tab dysfunction is associated with Conduit add-ons, such as a Conduit plugin and/or a "Community Toolbar" extension.
    You can check for and disable extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * <u>Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a</u> , Mac: Command+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
    Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that help with the "+" button? If so, could you name the specific extension that caused the problem?
    You might also check the Plugins section of the Add-ons page. You can use "Never Activate" to disable plugins that you don't ordinarily use.
    Does that help at all?

  • FireFox crashes on multiple sites, when 1st opened, also has over 4 or 5 different FireFixes in the Task Manager running how do we fix this?

    My PC, my wifes, dads, moms and kids PC all do this since the 14 update. I have updated ALL add-ons even removed some, also updated Flash and other programs, it will do this every time I open FF. Or if it does not crash rite away it will show 5+ of them open in Task Manager. It does this on multiple sites, I even reset FF 2 or 3 times, tried different start pages from Google, to Yahoo, to MSN even private sites I frequent it does not matter what I do it constantly crashes, can someone please fix this or figure out why tons of people are having this problem. This is very upsetting already upset about this darn idea of putting in FaceBook and crap like that integrated into FF that is a stupid move on its own seems more of a sell out I would expect that from IE but not from FF whom we have trusted for years.

    You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.
