Any ideas why Runtime.exec() w/ 1.4.0 works but doesn't w/ 1.4.1

I have developed a program which uses Runtime.exec(). It works in development but not in the production.
The development machine runs Windows2000 with SDK 1.4.0.
This program does not run on the target machine (production). The target machine is a Windows2000 servers with JRE 1.4.1_01.
Here is the error:
java.io.IOException: CreateProcess:
"C:\Program Files\2TIFF\2TIFF.EXE"
"s=C:\SplitTiff\pet.tif"
"d=D:\SplitTiffWork"
-namegen=123456.tif
-sep
-ct3
error=3

at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
at utility.splitTiff.SplitTiff.extract(SplitTiff.java:54)
at utility.splitTiff.SplitTiff.main(SplitTiff.java:340)
The six lines following "Create Process:" are the elements of the String[] parm of Runtime.exec().
Error 3 was returned by the JRE.
Does anyone have any suggestions what is going on?
Thanks much! I've got some Dukes to give out for some help on this.
Bill Blalock

Thanks!
Where can I find out the meaning of errors returned by Runtime.exec()?
Please reply to

And I'll send a couple a Duke I have locked up over there your way.
Have a good weekend!!!

  • Any ideas why the second HOST call does not work???

    Hi Folks.
    I have written the following code which works fine in all but one respect.
    The code creates a zip file on a server (Accessed over a network) hence the full windows network path name.
    The call to host on the server works in terms of running the zipinvoices.bat file and the zip file is generated on the server in the correct location.
    The prigram unit also generates the correctly formatted mailinvoices.bat file. However, the second call to HOST does not run/execute the mailinvoices.bat file. If I go to the server and run the mailinvoices.bat file directly, it runs perfectly and emails the file to me, no problemo.
    Why does the second call to HOST from the client machine not run?
    Any clues anyone???
    Cheers
    Simon Gadd

    As a suggestion I'd put the Text_io segments into their own begin - exception - end sub-blocks within the main code. This way if Text_io does raise an exception you can catch it earlier as it may be able to recover - That is if it is a text_io exception.
    Other than that you;ll have to step through in Debug.

    Any ideas why the sound on my ipad only works on about half of my apps?

    The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
    The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
    trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
    Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
    There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
    at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
    or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
    and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks

    In Icloud on my imac I can't see my "numbers" icon which i need to select "tick" to transfer data to my other devices via icloud. any ideas why it's not showing up?

    You have to do it app wise, which means that the icon won't show up in settings, but you will be able to move files from your local drive to iCloud via the Numbers app (move... > choose the iCloud option).
    It requires that you set up the same iCloud account on all your devices and that you have the latest version of Numbers on all your devices as well.

    That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. Something went wrong. You need to restore the iOS software and then restore from the backup.
    Read this carefully and follow the instructions. Make sure that you restore from your backup at the end of the process. That is covered at the bottom of the support article.

    "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"
    Offered solution doesn't work:
    Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
    I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
    I can't download photographs from my iphone or my digital camera.
    Any ideas on how I can solve this problem?
    There is a possibility that when I went to update applications that I started to install Mavericks which I then interrupted and cancelled. I am not definite that this caused this problem but it was at about the same time as when this problem started.
    Many thanks,
    Ed

    I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
    You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    I cannot plug it into iTunes and reload as my MacBook crashed a few days ago and I had to get a new hard drive. Recovery software is unable to retrieve anything from the hard drive.

    The iPod was last plugged into the MacBook one day before it crashed and it was Ok when I ejected it.
    Could it be anything to do with this? Doesn't an iPod have its own memory? Any ideas why it has happened and if their is anyway of retrieving it? Is it best to just take it into an apple shop? I am no longer covered with apple support.
    Thanks.

    When I hover over cover flow it says I have 12851 songs but when I click nothing happens.
    When I hover over artists or albums it says 'no artists/albums'.
