Any Java API to check CPU usage

Through java code, is it possible to calculate the System CPU usuage.

Not unless you can find a native library to do it for you. You can check memory, but not CPU availabilty.

i have already use ..>1) What business is that information to your app.? Or to put that another way. Why do you want to know?
    2) Those words are 'Java', 'API' and 'I' (which is always upper case).
    3) One upper case letter should be used at the start of each sentence, not just once at the start of a post.

  • Is there any Java API to interact/integrate with Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server

    Hi,
We are already using Adobe LiveCycle Policy server & has manual process in place to send documents to clients.
Going forward we want to automate this document generation process. We are using Java, JEE in our application.
We are planning to use below steps to automate this process.
    1) Administrator will create a Template in Adobe Policy Server and will map users intended to receive mails with this template
    2) Our application will interact with Adobe Policy Server and use Template ID to generate PDF document and send mails to client.
Can anyone please let me know if there is any Java API which can be used to perform the above second step.
Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hi Steven,
What you refer to is PDF Generator version 7.x Postscript edition.
In version 7 of the product there were 3 editions:
    1. PDF Generator Professional
Create PDF files from a wide range of source files:
    Print (PS, EPS, PRN)
Image (JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, PSD)
Standard office formats (DOC, XLS, PPT, WPD, MPP)
    Text (TXT, RTF)
    Web (HTML)
    Design files (DWG, VSD)
Generate all types of Adobe PDF file formats:
    PDF 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6
PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-3 for prepress document exchange
PDF/A for archiving with easy search and retrieval
    Searchable PDF files from images
    Convert PDF files to:
    HTML documents
    Text (TXT, RTF, accessible)
    Images (TIFF, PNG, JPEG)
    Print (PS, EPS)
    2. PDF Generator Elements
Create PDF files from a wide range of source files:
    Print (PS, EPS, PRN)

So basically what you have is the very limited edition, doing exactly what you said. For more functionality you should opt for one of the other editions (that for version 7.x)
Today's version is the newer LC PDF Generator ES. You can look for its specifications at http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/pdfgenerator/

  • Any Java API available for character recognition.. Please help

    Hi,
I am wondering if there are any Java API for identifying the character encoding of a text content. I came across NGramJ but not enough documentation to integrate with my application. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I used this but the CharsetToolKit identifies only among UTF-8, UTF-16LE and UTF-16 not any other encodings like TIS-620 etc. I am new to this as well, so not sure whether I am doing it right. Please advise.
Also, if any samples of chardet would be appreciated.
One thing not sure, is when I send a message has Thai characters from Hotmail having my browser setting to Thai encoding(TIS-620) but my Hotmail account language is English and sent to one of my exchange accounts. In the outlook, the message looks gibbrish.
So I need the charset encoding detector to let me know what type of encoding is done on the content (as if you choose English as the language option, the Hotmail server doesn't have charset parameter in the content-type header) so that I can decode and re-encode to UTF-8.
Any immediate response would be appreciated.

  • Any Java API for dumping database?

As far as I know, the normal way to dump a database is to execute some command on the console.
Is there any Java API for dumping a database, so that the operation can be wrapped in the code?
The database system that I'm using is MySQL. Please help. Thanks!

By "dumping a database" I mean exporting data in the database into a text file, as a backup, that can be used when restoring the database. For example, in MySQL, I can run "mysqldump" on the command line to dump the database into a file.
So far I still have no idea how to do this using JDBC or any other Java API. Please help!

  • Simple Java 3D program’s CPU Usage spikes to up to 90 percent!

Hi, everyone. I’m completely new to Java 3D and I’m toying around with basic program structure right now. My code is based off of that in the first chapter on 3D in Killer Game Programming in Java. I removed most of the scene elements, replacing them with a simple grid, Maya style. (Yes, I’m starting off small, but my ambitions are grand – I intend on creating a polygonal modeling and animation toolset. After all, the Maya PLE is dead – damn you, Autodesk! – and I just plain dislike Blender.) I implement a simple OrbitBehavior as a means for the user to navigate the scene. That part was basically copy and paste from Andrew Davison’s code. The mystery, then, is why the program’s framerate drops below 1 FPS and its CPU Usage spikes to up to 90 percent, according to the Task Manager, when I tumble the scene. I’d appreciate anyone taking the time to look at the code and trying to identify the problem area. (I’ve undoubtedly missed something totally newbish. -.-) Thank you!
(Also, I had the worst possible time wrestling with the posting process. Is anyone else having trouble editing their posts before submitting them?)

Huh. A simple call to View.setMinimumFrameCycleTime() fixed the problem. How odd that there effectively is no default maximum framerate. Of course simple programs like these, rendered as many times as possible every second, are going to consume all possible CPU usage...

  • Any java API to get the metadata for a deployed bpel process in soa/bpm11g?

    Hi,
Just wonder if this is possible, that there is some existing java api to retrieve the metadata (containing activities, isSynchrous, version information etc) for a deployed bpel process? If not, is there any other way to achieve this goal ( or example query database table directly)?
I can only find this link for soa11g java api. I am able to invoke the bpel process using this API(direct binding) from java client.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e10659/index.html?overview-tree.html
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    What I find so far:
    1. can get some process property values from ComponentInstance class, see its api.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e10659/oracle/soa/management/facade/ComponentInstance.html
Please refer http://blogs.oracle.com/soabpm/2009/07/soa_suite_11g_api_tricks_part.html of how to get the component instance (contain the bpel process) from a composite object
    2. in dev_soainfra database schema, the CUBE_INSTANCE table contains most of soa bpel components information. The BPM_CUBE_PROCESS table seems to contain only the process defined in a bpm application. This sounds a little confused, if we want to develop a bpel application, should it be put in soa or bpm application and what is the difference?
Please feel free to correct any mistakes here.

  • Check cpu usage

I noticed that while idle my CPU usage spikes to 20% every few seconds. However, activity monitor shows no process using a lot of CPU during those spikes (I have activity monitor set to show all processes). As there any way in Unix that I can track CPU usage over say 10s and find out which process causes this spike?

Hmm, I wonder if this is not related to a specific process, but rather something like a NIC thread or something similar which doesn't show up obviously in top output.
You could try the "ps" technique, though that might suffer from the same limitation that top does. No harm in trying though. From the command line, do something like:
    user% for ((i=0; i<30; i++)); do
    for> ps alx >> ps.out
    for> echo "\n=====\n" >> ps.out
    for> sleep 1
    for> done
Then look through your results in the "ps.out" file at the CPU column. Maybe you'll see something in there. That column is the %cpu -- from the ps man page:
%cpu   The CPU utilization of the process; this is a decaying average over up to a minute
of previous (real) time. Because the time base over which this is computed varies
(some processes may be very young), it is possible for the sum of all %cpu fields to
         exceed 100%.
