Hello...a consulting partner installed JDK for a system of ours and was required to also install JCE. I need to validate that install. Any way to confirm whether JCE was installed?

Well, the javax.crypto.Cipher class in included in JCE, so if it's not present, it means JCE is not there. Try this

Is there any way to remotely deactivate an installed copy of Photoshop CS5?

I had Photoshop CS5 installed on my laptop. The hard drive recently crashed and had to be replaced. Because it crashed suddenly, I was unable to deactivate the install. Is there any way to remotely deactivate it so I can install it on the new hard drive? I have a Student copy so it can only be activated on one computer at a time.

It's always been max 2 activations for educational and retail to my knowledge.

Yes the disk, at least the main one, is O.K. I guess what I'm trying to determine here is whether or not my Logic Pro Studio install disks are corrupted in any way because, on my system Logic behaves in quite a glitchy manner, something that other Logic users (at least on the Logic Forums) are not experincing. I've narrowed it down to a software issue but I've yet to detemine if this is an OS problem, a Logic problem or something else. What mitigates against the idea that this is an OS problem is that anything other than Audio programs on my system runs fine. But audio programs, particularly Logic, are having problems. A reinstallation of Logic solved nothing which is why I suspected that there may be something wrong with the program install disks. But the program does install and it does 95% of what its supposed to do. The disks are clean and have no scratches.

Yes but it is a lot of work. You essentially have to create a TFTP server, properly configure the XML files the phone looks for and unzip the correct version of firmware from CCO. It's usually not worth it for a single phone.
Also, if the phone is getting to a "registering" state, it sounds to me like it already got its firmware but the SIP/SCCP signaling is not working.

I'm not sure there is an easy way, but you could set up your extreme to use n only, that way if your tv still sees your network, you know it's using n.

Any way to install Keynote without Pages etc? (iWork DVD)

I have the iWork DVD here. At the moment I only need keynote and I'm a little pressed for disk space these days, so I was wondering is there any way to isolate keynote and install it on its own without Pages and Numbers?
I looked through the install dialogue but there was no customize option, I tried exploring the mpkg but nothing jumps out as being specifically Keynote.

You could just install the whole thing, then remove Pages and Numbers manually.

THey have bought out an update Ios 8.2 perhaps u could try that it may help u unfortunately u cannot go back to Ios 7.1.2 apple wont allow u to i guess hindsight is a good thing u can learn from this and dont be in too much of a hurry to update in the future sit back and wait too see if there are any problems before u update i work on the principle if aint broke then dont touch it...sorry there much u can do other than vent your suggestions to apple support..

I think you can just deselect the extension. I don't think it will literally uninstall the update from your disk, but it will prevent JDev from loading it. You'll probably need to restart JDev for the change to take effect.

Does anyone know if there is a flag I can use to prevent a SQL Server 2005 database from being upgraded to SQL 2014 when it is restored to a 2014 instance?
Don't ask why, I just need to know if this is possible or if 2005/8 DB's are required to be upgraded if they are going to run on SQL 2012/2014 instances. The documentation seems to say this is so, I just want to verify that.

First: You cannot directly restore a 2005 database to
2014. MS supports migration over 3 SQL Server version steps; means you can restore 2005 to 2008/2008R2/2012, but not to 2014. You have to do a migration step between.
Olaf I was looking for this today, because I'm working with a new customer that have SQL 2005 and I have SQL 2014. And needed to restore a backup form the production server in my test server.
When I read what you write I think, oh no!! I have to install SQL 2012 in my server. But that it's not an option for me, and I say let me try to restore the DB first in 2014 and if not work install 2012.
You can restore a 2005 database to 2014 directly, and it works.
For reference the version number in the servers 2005 (9.0.4035 SP3) and 2014 (12.0.2000 RTM)
This is not related in any way to the original question that you answered (the file format will be upgraded to the new motor, that is sure).
I put this lines because in the future there will be some people searching about if possible to restore a 2005 DB to 2014, and like me will read your lines and think it's not possible and that can make a decision to buy 2012 and not 2014 to that new server they
will migrate.
