Anyone hook up StreamInsight to a PLC, and SQL Server?

All,
I have been diving into StreamInsight and after a little struggle, have had success in getting it running against some sources. The sources I have hooked to are just random number generators that simulate the flow of data. I have gotten to the
point where I can flow the data and plot them on a chart. Neat.
Now that I have a tentative grasp on Streaminsight, I have a couple of questions to throw out to the group:
1. I have been trying to find a good sample of hooking SI into SQL Server. We have a server that is streaming data into it. I would like to "watch" SQL Server for record updates and grab only specific points of data to trend.
Or even better if there was a way to monitor the SQL File itself. Still fuzzy on how best to use SI with SQL Server If someone could point me in that direction, that would be great.
2. In reading the documentation, it was indicated that SI would be a good choice for monitoring PLC data and watch for points that change. Has anyone used SI with PLC data? If so a push in that direction would be great as well.
We have quite a bit of data streaming in that is just ignored right now, but I know if I could expose it and link it where I can (production rates, machine uptime, breaching up limits, etc.) that is just going by the wayside, and yet where there is a production
problem, instead of looking for trends and have early warnings and being proactive, we are reactive trying to dig through paper, various databases and other sources and trying to piece it together.
Again, any help is much appreciated.

Polling a database, as TXPower mentioned, is certainly possible but it's not ideal. How does the data get into the database? It's better to get it into StreamInsight while it's "in flight", rather than after it's already "at rest" (on
disk).
Note, also, that the SQL Server storage engine isn't required for StreamInsight. Only the licensing PID. That said, SQL Server is a great place to store metadata ... slowly changing data that is required to process and analyze the streams but isn't inherently
temporal in nature (as sensor data is).

How can I connect to Oracle and SQL server at the same time?

I need to return some data from Oracle Database and some from the Sql Server Database. And update both through SQL. I find there is such a thing as the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL server. I can't find it on any of my CD's or through OTN downloadable files. If anyone can point me where to get this. Or tell of another way this can be accomplished I would appreciate it. TIA.

As far as I know you have 3 options depending on your specifications. I don't think option #3 will work if you need to actually join a
SQL Server table to an Oracle table.
1. Oracle Transparent Gateway. I haven't used the Oracle Transparent Gateway but my understanding is that Oracle gateways are
separate purchased products from Oracle. I've never seen any free/development versions of it anywhere. You'll need to contact
your Oracle sales rep about it.
2. Heterogeneous Connectivity. There's something called Heterogeneous Connectivity that could work for you - depends on what
version of Oracle you're on and what OS. You basically set up an ODBC data source on the Oracle server and modify the listener.ora
and tnsnames.ora files. You can then create a database link to SQL Server just like you would to any other Oracle database. You can
check your Oracle documentation for how this works. There's also some very good documents on Metalink that tell you how to do this
as well as a Heterogeneous Connectivity forum on this site.
3. Use the exec_sql package available in Developer 2000. This allows you to open and execute cursors to remote databases within
Developer. We have an account validation process that uses this - when a person enters an account number in a form while logged
into Oracle it validates the account is valid in our main accounting DB2 database. We also pull HR information from DB2 into Oracle
this way. If you're using Forms 6i exec_sql is a built-in command, in Forms 5.0 and 5.5 you have to add it as an attached library to
the form. I think you also need the OCA options installed from the Developer software to have access to the library in Forms 5.0 and
5.5. The library will be in the $ORACLE_HOME\oca20\plsqllib directory for these versions. The Developer documentation should have
additional information.

There used to be the PHAkt servermodel supporting multiple
databases in PHP
with Dreamweaver,
unfortunately Adobe dropped the product after acquiring the
company that
produced it before the release of CS3, so
it's not compatible with Dreamweaver CS3.

As per the log details shared, installing version is SQL server express. Please go to control panel - add and remove programs and uninstall the
SQL Server Database Engine Services Instance Features, and also Uninstall all SQL Services.
Reboot and start the start the installation with RUN as Administrator.

Replication between Oracle and SQL Server

Does anyone have any experience with replicating data between SQL Server and Oracle database system? If so, I am experiencing time out errors when replicating data. I replicating from SQL Server 2k to Oracle and it time out on the Oracle side.

OraOledb, Linked Servers and SQL Server 2005 issues

Some issues I've come across when using SQL Server 2005 (and SQL Server Express 2005), the OraOLEDB provider (10.2.0.1) and a linked Oracle database (8.1.7.4.0 64-bit)
1) You must set the OraOledb.Oracle\AllowInProcess value to 1 to allow the OraOledb provider to run in SQL Server's process. Without doing this I receive an 'unspecified error' from the OLE DB provider when attempting to run a query
2) When running a ' select * ' query across a linked server using the provider, I receive the following error: Msg 9803, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid data for type "numeric". I can, however, select all of the columns by name and the query completes (no error). Sometimes the 'select *' query returns a few rows before the error, sometimes it doesn't. The Microsoft Provider for Oracle does not have this problem

Okay... I've got a Win2K3 Std Ed server (x64) running 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. I've installed the Oracle 10g 10.2.1 full client and admin tools, added two named services via the NetConfig assistant, and successfully set up (and tested) a connection via the ODBC Administrator to an Oracle database.
Now... when I try to create a new connection manager in SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, the OLEDB provider for Oracle can't be found, and when I try to manually add an underlying OLEDB connection to the database, SQL Server reports:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle.1' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Does anyone know what I need to do to see my ODBC Server data connections in SQL Server 2005 (64 bit)? I don't have this issue on my 32-bit SQL Server 2005 servers.

LC 8.2.1.3/JBoss and SQL Server 2008 R2

Does anyone know if there are any issues with JBoss and SQL Server 2008 r2? I tested connecting to a 2008 sql server in the adobe-ds.xml file and was getting errors in my server log.
The version of JBoss was what came with 8.0. Would I need to update JBoss prior to being able to connect to a 2008 sql server?

You are correct. You cannot use 8.2 with 2008 SQL server. You have to upgrade to version 9.

Linking Siebel Sample DB and SQL Server

Hi Gurus,
I have installed siebel in my laptop for learning purposes and i want to query the Sample DB in the process. Can anyone tell me how to link the sample DB and SQL Server 2008, so that i can query the sample db in the similar the way i query a normal siebel database server.
I already tried to create a linked server in SQL Server 2008 using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers, but its throwing errors. Is it possible to create a linked server for sample DB.
Please let me know if there is any other way to query the sample DB

In the BIN directory you can find dbisqlc.exe.
Fill in the login credentials (SADMIN/SADMIN), don't set the ODBC, but go to the next tab and browse to the sample db.
It could be that you don't see it until you set the file filter to all files.

Help with Flex - PHP - and SQL Server

Good afternoon,
I have been working on this problem for over a week and am at
my wit's end. I am trying to create an application that will allow
me and my fellow statisticians to share code easily. The
technologies at my disposal are Flex, PHP and SQL Server 2005. The
web server is IIS. I have downloaded and installed the PHP driver
for SQL Server 2005 and am able to query the database and generate
XML. The problem I'm having is that I can't return the XML from PHP
to Flex.
If I execute the php code in a web browser and view the
source, it looks like XML. I can then cut and paste the exact same
code into an xml file and read it in from the harddisk and the tree
will populate. Can anyone please help me? I don't have flex builder
so I it's hard for me to use trace and view what is going on.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried every permutation of
e4x path notation I can think of. You're right, you're not supposed
to need the root level as that's supposed to be returned in the
result. So you should only need to reference first level after the
root. When I do this and launch the .SWF I get a completely empty
tree.
I think the problem lies somewhere in my understanding of
what format Flex needs returned from a HTTPRequest. It's my
understanding that it just needs to be XML. As far as I can tell,
that's what I'm sending it. On the PHP side, does it have to be
cast a special way? Everything I've seen just shows people using
ECHO to output the XML data.

They are very, very different beasts.
Firstly FAST Search for SharePoint is the old name for the product and is only relevant for SharePoint 2010 not 2013. It got merged into the standard SharePoint search for the 2013 release.
SharePoint search is aimed at providing a Bing or Google like experience for your intranet content, as well as providing some nifty features that are purely SharePoint releated along the way. That means it can crawl SharePoint content, file shares,
outlook mailboxes, internal and external websites and probably fifty other different things if you really tried. Whilst i'm not an expert on SQL full text search I believe it's intended to provide a search feature for content held within SQL databases
and tables.
Can you run SharePoint purely for Search? Yes, definitely.

SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT - Error retrieving folders with SCCM 2012 and SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2

Hi:
According to all the Reporting Services logs my Reporting Point was setup correctly. When I try and run any report I see the entries below in the srsrp.log on the SQL Server. The report names show up in the Console but when I right any of the
listed reports I get errors and no report runs.
I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 on a remote server. SQL is installed on its own server. There is no firewall between the Configuration Manager server and SQL Server.

Hi:
Windows Firewall is off on both systems.
I can ping the Configuration Manager server from the SQL Server by netbios name, ip address and fully qualified domain name.   I can ping the SQL Server from the Configuration Manager server by netbios name, ip address and fully qualified domain
name.
I have uninstalled and installed the Reporting Point Service a couple of times and everything looks fine according to the logs after the install finishes but these errors only appear each time I try and Run a report.

Linked Server error: Login Failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON' between sql server 2005 32 bit and sql server 2012 64 bit

Hi All,
Here the linked server is created between sql server 2012 64 bit and sql server 2005 32 bit. I am getting the below error when i try to access linked server from third server. I have created linked from Instance 1 to Instance 2. When i access it from
instance 3 i am getting the below error. SPN setting has been done between these 2 servers. Also the option 'Trust the delegate' is enabled for the both the service account.
'Login Failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'

Compatability: CR 2008, VS 2005 and SQL Server 2008 on WINDOWS 7

Crystal Reports 2008, Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2008 all play nice together on a VISTA or XP box. But we cannot get a connection when we switch the OS to WIN 7. I tried to get a connection via the report designer. Is this combination of technologies currently supported?

See the [Platforms|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/00225757-ab5c-2c10-c1a8-fb9f9f0f4ac2] document for CR 2008. You need Service Pack 2 to run on Windows 7.
If you already have SP 2, then what happens when you try to make a connection?
